Kenon Desmond Jones - August 28, 1976 - December 10, 2023

Departed: 12/10/2023 (Memphis)
Obituary Preview: Kenon Desmond Jones, Age 47, passed December 10, 2023.
Kenon Desmond Jones, born August 28, 1976, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the eldest child and only son of Sharon Diane James (Jones). Kenon attended Hamilton High School, Central High School and graduated from Middle College High School in 1994.
Above anything and everything else, Kenon is best described as a devoted father to his only daughter, Nyla Lee Jones. Kenon took his role as a proud “girl dad” very seriously and approached it with unwavering commitment. He prioritized being present for everything from nightly homework and doctor appointments to braid take-downs and cheer competitions. He poured into Nyla in a way that was so uniquely loving and special to witness. Nyla was truly the “apple of his eye,” the source of his greatest joy and he leaves behind a legacy of love for her that will stand the test of time.
Kenon's sense of humor and generosity endeared him to family and friends alike. Though it wasn’t easy to break through that tough exterior, if and when you did, you were in for a lifelong treat. Kenon navigated the world with such a gentle spirit. His presence in any room or conversation brought a sense of familiarity and comfort — he just felt like “home”. He loved to send a text or audio message to check in with you “just because” and he never missed an opportunity to wish you well on a birthday, anniversary or holiday.
In this time of grief, let us choose to remember Kenon for the love he gave, the lessons he imparted, the joy he brought into our lives, and of course, his impeccable sense of style. Kenon’s capacity for love, grace and forgiveness was unmatched. May his spirit and energy live on through each of us.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, David Jones. Kenon leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Nyla Jones (Atasha); his mother, Sharon James; his aunt and “bonus mom”, Valerie “Tee Tee” Jones; his grandmother, Gloria Jones; his uncle, Shellie Jones IV (Catherine); his sister, Erin James Coward (Corey); his favorite cousin, Brittany Jones; his “almost” favorite cousins, Jaliyah Strong, Denver Johnson, Reginald Jones, Darnell Jones, Sylvia Carter and Monique Carter; his niece and nephew, Corinne Coward and Tristan Coward; his lifelong best friend, Melvin Hayes; and a host of other relatives, friends and colleagues.
