Robert G. Behn - August 14, 1957 - March 15, 2022

Departed: 03/15/2022 (Coon Valley)
Obituary Preview: Robert “Bob” Glenn Behn, 64 of Westby, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2022, after battling repetitive illnesses over a 5-year span. During his final 3 days on this earth, he was continuously surrounded by the presence and love of his wife and two sons.
He was born on August 14, 1957, to James Raymond Behn and Lucille Matilda Behn in Madison, Wisconsin. Bob met his wife, Cathy at Monona Grove High School in 1974. They both graduated the following year and ultimately were married on June 19, 1976.
Early on, he worked as an ambulance driver. He later worked diligently through night school to become a sheet metal worker. His dedication and persistent work ethic led to him becoming a foreman for many years.
His true passion though was his children. He spent endless hours transporting his sons to hockey practices and games and absolutely loved watching them play. He and Cathy chose repetitively to sacrifice their personal passions, to allow their sons to play this game. Most of his friendships were formed at the ice rink with other parents.
He also loved to ride his motorcycle. This is when he truly felt free and at peace. He made several cross-country treks, and occasionally would find an excuse just to get on his motorcycle. He once rode to St. Louis and back simply to “have lunch.” His favorite place to ride his motorcycle was along the coast of Maine.  The last several years he enjoyed transporting and working with many in the Amish community.
He was resolute in his ways and passionate in his approach. He believed in being a man of your word, finishing what you started, planting your feet in the right place, and standing firm.
The same passion he had for his children was magnified infinitely for his grandchildren. They stole his heart beyond what he could have imagined. In his later years, his true joy was spending time with them at every opportunity.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Behn; his two sons, USAF Lt. Colonel James Behn (wife, Addie Pesche; sons Jack and Luke) and Dr. Joe Behn (wife, Kristina Mlsna; daughters Kennedy and Oakley). In addition; his sisters, Betty McIlwee and Mary (Harry) Quinsler; his brother, John Neis; several nephews, a niece; cousin Cindy Hintz; and his loyal canine companion, Indie.
He was preceded in death by his parents (Jim and Lucille); brother Allen Behn; and niece Colleena Ziegler.
The Behn family would like to thank Mayo Clinic La Crosse and Onalaska as well as all the wonderful staff that provided care for him in his last several years of life. Per Bob’s wishes, no formal funeral or celebration of life will be held. If a memorial donation is desired, please do so by a monetary or time donation to a local youth sports chapter. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.

Julie A. Ross - April 24, 1962 - February 20, 2022

Departed: 02/20/2022 (Coon Valley)
Obituary Preview: Julie Ann (Midtlien) Ross, 59, of La Crosse, passed away due to a tragic automobile accident on February 20th, 2022. Julie was born on April 24th, 1962 to Jerry and Donna (Willenberg) Midtlien. Julie immediately brought joy and laughter into the world and touched everyone she met in a special way. Julie attended Westby High School, graduating in 1980. To continue her passion of bringing joy and laughter to others, she decided to pursue a career in the medical field. Julie went on to attend college at WWTC in La Crosse for Medical Transcription and graduated in 1982.
After graduating from WWTC, Julie began her career at Norseland Nursing Home, as the Director of Medical Records. She loved her coworkers and residents so much that they became her second family. Over her 10 years there, she took pride in publishing the Norseland Edition newspaper. She was remembered by her beloved coworkers as being the best and was even called upon for advice after she left. Julie continued many other adventures with different companies throughout her years until she happily retired.
Her retired years were spent fulfilling her true passions. This included volunteering, taking the most amazing care of her grandchildren, and painting. Her other hobbies included anything that had to do with family, spending time with her daughters in Texas, Minnesota, or Wisconsin. She truly was the joy and shining light at any event she attended. She loved weekends at Jeff and Amy’s cabin in Chetek, as well as warm summer days with Chad and Vicki at Goose Island. She spent a lot of time with other friends and family at craft shows, luncheons, wine tastings, bible study, and anywhere that had good music or dancing. Larry Fest and the Chaseburg Sole Burner were events where her devotion for music and friends truly shined.
In addition to all of Julie’s favorite activities, her most special moments were spent with her husband.  The story she told most is that she saw Roger walk in the door at a local bar in Chaseburg and said, “Sit right here on this stool by me “Big Guy.” They were inseparable and were married on June 26th, 1982, at St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church on a beautiful, perfect summer day. Roger and Julie would have shared their 40th wedding anniversary this summer. If you saw Roger and Julie, you would most likely see them holding hands. They were the epitome of true love.
Julie was a fiercely dedicated mom, wife, grandmother, sister, and daughter. She spent every Friday with her mom, which was one of her favorite days of the week. Family came first and was above all else to Julie, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.
Julie was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Midtlien, mother and father-in-law, Elizabeth and Vernon Ross. There are also many grandparents, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, and uncles who were also anticipating her arrival with a huge smile and some enjoyable words of encouragement.
Survivors include her dearest husband of 39-years, Roger. Julie was his “sweet pea.” Other survivors include daughters, Amber Ross and Amanda (Jeff) Ross; mother, Donna (Tom) Willenberg; stepmom, Mary Midtlien; brother, Jeff (Amy) Midtlien; brother, Chad (Vicki) Midtlien; brother-in-law, Jim (Alyce) Ross; sister-in-law, Sara (Matthew) Green; sister-in-law, Kathy (Greg) Kuhlow; grandchildren, Fabian, Zahra, and Naviya; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Julie was truly a one-of-a-kind, genuine, caring, generous soul who will be missed by so many. Her life on this earth was short, but she made it full by opening her heart with zero regrets. We miss and love her dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday February 26, 2022 at the Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church. A luncheon will follow at the Coon Valley American Legion Hall.  A visitation will be held Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. Amara Rose Lee - March 25, 1990 - January 07, 2022

Departed: 01/07/2022 (Coon Valley)
Obituary Preview: Amara (Mari) Rose Lee found the peace she was searching for and passed away on January 7, 2022. Amara may have left a devastated family behind but is in the Lord’s loving arms. He’s wiping the tears from her eyes and showing her the glories of heaven. She is Home.
Amara was born in La Crosse, WI, on March 25, 1990, to Jeff Richardson and Heidi (Lee) Overson. She was cuter than a bug’s ear and filled our world with joy. As she grew, she blossomed into a vivacious, caring and passionate young lady. She found adventure and humor every place she went and in every situation. She was fiercely devoted to her friends and had a lot of them. She was a very hard worker who stuck to the task at hand until it was completed well.
She graduated from Westby High School in 2008 and attended WTC and then cosmetology school. She was a waitress extraordinaire at Rocky’s Supper Club in Stoddard for many years. She loved her customers and co-workers and was blessed to have Jaynne and Jan as her compassionate bosses. They loved her like she was their own child.
Much of Amara’s time here was spent on her parents’ hobby farm, where she spent her teenage years and some adult years. She loved her llamas, Lucy and Lulu, and she and her friends would spend many hours in the barn trying to calm them down enough to hug them (without getting spit on). Amara loved the beauty of nature of the farm and often wrote about the gentle breezes, the sky, fresh air, wildlife and animals that were raised there. She was a very gifted writer who poured her heart and soul onto paper.
Amara was happiest when she spent time with her dog Rocko and with her siblings, Kristen, Jacob and Hallie. Her face radiated with laughter and joy every time they were together. No one made her siblings laugh harder than Amara did. She’d do Kristen and Hallie’s hair with her special finesse. She’d take them all on unforgettable car rides. Time spent with all of them was always fun and interesting to say the least. Amara loved traveling. She went to Norway with her Grandma Lee and vacationed all across the country, to the interesting places her dad lived--from San Francisco and Berkeley to New York City, the Outer Banks of NC and Hilton Head of SC. Those trips were great times that left everyone wanting more time with Mari. Brothers Cole and Owen loved spending time snuggling, watching movies and doing art with her. Sister Eileen loved the daily French braids and the occasional blue manicures! Amara had a very special bond with her mother that grew stronger as the years went by. She knew her mother would do almost anything for her and leaned on her more as time passed. Talks and letter-writings were full of soul searching and life lessons. Each conversation always ended with ‘Lean on Jesus.’
Amara was one of a kind. No one can argue that. Her spirit was bubbly, animated, free-spirited, bold, outlandish, creative, sunny, compassionate, colorful and non-judgmental. She was utterly and completely beautiful, inside and out. That is how we will all always remember our Mari.
Amara is survived by her parents, Jeff Richardson (Tom McEntegart) and Heidi (Lee) Overson; her stepfather, Randy Overson; her siblings:  Kristen (Dan) Godding, Jacob Overson, Hallie Overson, Owen, Cole and Eileen McEntegart; her niece Isla, her grandma, RoseMary Richardson; her grandpa, Roger Overson Sr., and her many very special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Your life is worth saving. Amara is not here any longer, but if she was, she’d be pleading with you to stop.
From the bottom of their hearts, the family would like to thank all the people who tried to help her. Your efforts were appreciated more than you know.  Let’s passionately continue this fight together. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
To our beautiful Mari:  Always and forever, our baby you’ll be.
