Obituary Preview: A Life Well LivedAlice “Tina” Royster was born on September 2nd, 1932 in Troumaca, St. Vincent to David & Martha Lewis. She was one of five children. As an adult Tina made her living as a home attendant and a nanny. From St. Vincent she migrated to Trinidad, then to Puerto Rico. From there she migrated to Miami where she met her husband, Clifford Royster. After some time, they moved to Clifford’s hometown of Buffalo, New York. After which Tina finally settled in Brooklyn, New York and made it her permanent home.Tina had a love for people and food. You could never enter her home without her offering you a meal and you leaving with a full belly. She was never satisfied until she saw you eat something she gave you. It is this same love and service to people that earned her the title of Deaconess Royster as well as the “Mayor of Reverend Brown Housing.”She always enjoyed cruising for vacations. We believe it was because of her ability to connect with so many people from all walks of life that contributed to this. She was a firm believer that life was meant to be lived to the fullest and that is just what she did. Prior to Covid, Tina could always be found in her home church Evangel Temple, or at the Community Center. She was an active member of the Women’s ministry at church. At many fundraising events, she would ensure that all things were completed with excellence and in order. She believed in things being done well. At her Community Center she was immensely popular and extremely loved. She would participate in many arts and crafts with her neighbors and was always telling others about what she had planned to do at the center in the upcoming days. While these things were impactful on her life and she thoroughly enjoyed it all, Tina loved nothing more than God and her family. She was extremely proud of them all and would brag about her family and their accomplishments to any and everyone. Her love was so immense that it seemed palpable. Tina was predeceased by her twin sister, Ira, as well as her other siblings Christine, Sylvie, and Vibert. She leaves behind 3 sons, Kenneth, Patrick, and Curtis as well as 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family members and her friends to mourn this massive loss. We will miss her dearly but will hold on to all the memories we made with her. We look forward to hearing her laugh and seeing that smile in the sweet by and by. She also had two secondary care takers; Alice and Jennifer who did a great job caring for her. He’s the son of Veronica Miller,and Coleridge Grant of Layou. Steve was raised by his Grandmother,Pearl Grant, and Godmother, Merlyn Charles. He migrated to the USA many years ago, where he worked as a very skilled auto mechanic, until a few months prior to his demise. Steve was blessed with three sons, Keston, Mickael , and Rolton, better known as Markie, residing here in the USA. He leaves to mourn, his sons, father Coleridge Grant, Lavern Grant, brothers David and Paul, sisters Debbie and Marva,many cousins, including Candace Grant Beach, whom he regards as his sister,Charlie, Dionne, Allick , John, Barry and Anthony. He received his formal education under the New York City Public school system. He had a passion for animals as he was able to identify and talk about exotic creatures unfamiliar to many. He enjoyed watching the cooking channel during his down time. He also enjoyed seeing his great niece, Paityn, whenever she came to visit. Derek was well known in the neighborhood and loved by many.Derek leaves behind his older sister Donnice-Colonel Matthias, brother-in-law Jeoffrey Matthias, nephew Richard Matthias, niece Chalik A. Matthias, great niece Paityn I. Matthias, aunt Geneva Wallace, Uncle John Wallace, and a host of cousins.
