Kenneth Seals - April 15, 1952 - April 13, 2022

Obituary Preview: Mr. Kenneth Lee Seal, age 69, of Ozark, Alabama passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022.
Public visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 5-7 PM at the Georgette L. Scott Memorial Chapel, 814 Headland Ave, Dothan, AL 36303.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 23,2022 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Sunset Memorial Park; 1700 Barrington Road, Midland City, Alabama 36350 with burial immediately following at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
In the spring of 1952 -April 15th to be exact - in the city of McComb, Mississippi, the late Dec. Davis and Mrs. Mary Seals welcomed a new addition to the family, Kenneth Lee Seals.  Kenneth was the seventh child and sixth male born into the family.  He was reared in a Christian home by loving parents in Summit, Mississippi.
Kenneth was a 1972 graduate of Higgins High School in McComb, Mississippi.  In 1976, he joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1979.  He was also a member of the Army Reserve and the Alabama National Guard, completing 20 years of service.  While serving actively, he was awarded the Expert Qualification Badge for M-16 and Hand Grenade.  In the National Guard, he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal in 2005 for Superior Humanitarian Relief during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina; as well as for outstanding duty performance as the Administrator Supply Point Non-Commissioned Officer, in 2007, just to name a few.  Kenneth had several jobs after being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army but his dream job was being a Civil Service employee.  He retired from that position after 20 years of service.
Kenneth was a sports enthusiast, so much that he became a member of the Southeast Alabama Basketball Association, where he served as an official and clock operator.
In 1992, Kenneth married Barbara Poke and to this union two daughters were born, joining older sister: Rashanda and brother: Kenneth.  Kenneth was baptized at St. John Baptist Church in Mississippi and professed his salvation at an early age.  Later, the family moved their membership to Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  While attending church with his family, he heard a soul stirring sermon by Elder Roy Crawley and recommitted his life to the Lord and joined Restoration Church of God by Faith in Ashford, Alabama.  He loved sharing the good news of Jesus with others.  He enjoyed those "iron sharpen iron" conversations with fellow believers.
In 2009, he was ordained as a Deacon of the Restoration Church of God by Faith.  He served faithfully in that position as well as other capacities in the church until his health failed.
On April 13, 2022, Kenneth transitioned into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents: Davis Seals, Sr. and Mary Seals; sister: Luverne Dickerson; and brother Davis Seals, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife: Barbara Seals; children: Rashanda (Terrance) McKnight, Kenneth Jones, Mary Seals, and Adrianna Seals; grandchildren: Jasmine Faust, Braxton and Ashton-Bryce Jones and De'Angelo Boyd, Jr.; great grandchildren: Riley Mallery and McKenzie Hughes; sister: Patricia (Faga) Samdumu; brother: John (Nancy) Seals, James (Cynthia) Seals, Frank (Walternia) Seals, Verris (Gwen) Seals, Willie Seals, Samuel (Angela) Seals, Raynard Seals, Alphonso Seals, and Geoffrey Seals; sister-in-law: Teresa Poke; brothers-in-law: Don Poke, Felix Poke, and Charles Poke.
He is also survived by aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Eric Alyyn Carter - May 28, 1969 - October 02, 2021

Eric Alyyn Carter, the eldest son of the late Deacon Curtis E. Carter and Jewell Smiley Carter, was born on May 28, 1969 in Montgomery, Alabama.
In August of 1973, at the tender age of three, Eric traveled with his parents to Grafenwohr, Germany.  He began his early childhood education in the American school on the military base.  After his dad was transferred back to the US, Eric attended several different schools: Daleville Elementary in Daleville, Alabama; Schamburg Elementary in Schamburg, Illinois; Elk Grove Village Elementary in Elk Grove Village, Illinois; Charles Henderson Jr. High in Troy, Alabama; East Gate Middle School in Ozark, Alabama; and Carroll High School in Ozark, Alabama.
The summer of 1981, Eric accepted Christ as his personal Savior, and united with the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Linwood, Alabama.
Upon completion of High School, Eric continued his education at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama.  There, he chose a career in music education.  He was a member of the Marching Band.
After leaving the university, Eric began his career in the truck driving industry, which spanned from 2003 through 2021.  Eric loved the open roads and often times spoke of feeling free while driving across country.
Eric Alyyn Carter transitioned this life on October 2, 2021 in Sarasota, Florida.
Eric leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters: Madison of Mobile, Alabama and Avaisa of Decatur; mother: Jewell Carter of Ozark, Alabama; one brother: Steven (Jenny) Carter of Dothan, Alabama; one nephew: Jackson; four uncles: James Carter of Troy, Alabama, Emmet Carter of Detroit, Michigan, Vince (Theresa) Carter and Derrick (Ruby) Carter both of Troy, Alabama; four aunts: Lee and Ida both of Niagara Falls, New York, Carolyn Carter Smith of Montgomery, Alabama and Patricia (James) Sparks of Detroit, Michigan.  He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of loving cousins, friends, and acquaintances.

Sylvester was born November 8, 1950, to Beatrice Perry and James Banks, Sr. in Martinez, California.
Sylvester joined the army on March 24, 1971, in New Orleans, Louisiana.  During his time in the army, he was stationed at the following duty stations: Germany, Fort Rucker, Alabama, Vietnam, Fort Hood, Texas, and Fort Riley, Kansas.  He was honorably discharged on November 20, 1984.
On Wednesday, July 7, 2021, Sylvester Jones departed this earthly home.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Rev. S.J. Bullard, Beatrice Bullard, and James Banks Jones, Sr.; three brothers: Huey L. Jones, James Jones III and Melvin Bullard; one grandson: Quinten Jeremiah Gaskin.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two children: Chauncey (Kendle) Jones of Panama City Beach, Florida and Charmane (La'Darius) Gaskin of Ozark, Alabama; two sisters: Beatrice Jones Vanzant of Alexandria, Louisiana and Barbara Bullard of Harvey, Louisiana; two brothers: Rodney Bullard of Harvey, Louisiana and Rev. Elijah Leonard was born on June 18, 1954 to the late Eldridge and Louise Leonard.
At an early age, he confessed his life to Christ and joined Greater Sardis Baptist Church.  Later,  he moved to Gary, Indiana where he joined Emmanuel Temple Apostolic.
Elijah attended and graduated from Carroll High School in 1972.  After graduation, he united in marriage to Cynthia Pujoue and from this union came two sons.  He worked at the U.S. Steel Company for over 30 years, where he retired and returned to Ozark, Alabama.

Tameika Sheree Doster was born on September 13, 1988 to Michelle Doster and Chad Hudspeth.
She attended Northview High School, where she was a member of the volleyball team.  She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of  Greater Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church.  She lived life to the fullest.  She was full of love, for her family and friends, in spite of her health issues.
Tameika gained her Heavenly wings on April 4, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather: James Collins; maternal grandfather: Hubert Jones; her favorite cousins: Isaiah Stoddart and Gregory Wesson; and her Godmother: Sharon Ann Hammonds.
Cherishing her memories and celebrating her life is her mother: Michelle (Steven) Doster; father: Chad (Marilyn) Hudspeth; two devoted grandmothers: Betty Jones and Annie B. Collins; five sisters: Shakera Thomas, Centeria Turner, Keona Hudspeth, Trinity Hudspeth, and Genesis Hudspeth; three aunts: Mollie Allen, Jackie (BJ) Helms, and Revina Collins; four uncles: Ray Doster, Johnny Doster, David Jones, and James (Dorinda) Collins, Jr.  She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as special friends: Chavonna Scott, Valencia Pressly, Tanisha Ward, Zeneshia McGlon, Morgan Bighem, and Shenitha Scott.

Miss Mary Ruth Harper was born November 30, 1941 to the late Deacon and Mrs. Dailey Harper.  At an early age, she joined Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Clayton, Alabama.  After relocating to Ozark, Alabama, she united with Greater Old Salem Baptist Church and later joined First Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member until her passing.  She served as teacher of class #3 Sunday School, an usher, and secretary of the Pastor's Aid Club.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
She leaves, to cherish her memory: one sister: Suesie Harper of Miami, Florida; one sister-in-law: Dorothy Harper of Ozark, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.  Special friends: Carolyn McCray, Eva McLeod and Mary Horn.

Minnie joined Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church in Skipperville, Alabama, at an early age, and later transferred her membership to Saint Paul A.M.E. Church in Ozark, Alabama.
Minnie was employed with Walmart for 25 plus years until she retired.
She gained her heavenly wings on December 29, 2020.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Jim Franklin and Emmanuel Noble McLeod.

Keith Antonio Snell, Jr. - December 14, 1994 - March 21, 2020

Keith Antonio Snell, Jr. was born on December 14, 1994 to Trenesha Chambers and Morris Bellamy.  He was born and raised in Dothan, Alabama/Lakeview Community.
He was baptized at an early age, at Burdershaw Baptist Church, on Easter Sunday by his grandfather, and later joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church of Ozark until his untimely death.  He was a faithful YPD'er in the A.M.E. Church, and was a member of numerous youth groups and organizations (YPD, O.C.O.P., E.M.B.O.D.I., GENTEEL BEAUX, etc.) throughout his childhood.
He was a graduate of the Class of 2013 from Dale County High School Midland City, Alabama and later attended Wallace College pursuing a degree in Engineering.  He currently worked at the Waffle House as a Grill Operator, and brought joy and smiles to many he encountered.  He was a "Gentle Giant" and would help you if he could.
He was preceded in death by his brother: Morrell Antwon Bellamy; two grandfathers: Charles P. Lawson and Rev. W.C. Snell. Keith leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother: Trenesha Chambers; father: Morris Bellamy; Step-father: Keith A. Snell, Sr.; son: O'Shea A. Coleman; three brothers: Jaysen L. Chambers, Joshua L. Chambers and Keon Snell; one sister: Jalisa Bellamy; four loving grandparents: Ila Jean Chambers, Walter and Pensula Bellamy, and Bernie Snell; and a host of LOVING aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends who loved him dearly.  Gone but never forgotten from our hearts!!

Laura Jean Ardis Jackson was born July 29, 1924, in Ozark (Dale County), Alabama, to the late Minnie Walker and Louie Ardis; both born in Dale County, Alabama.
Laura graduated from the Ozark Colored High School and attended Alabama State College for two years.  She taught Elementary School , one year, in the Shady Grove Community of the Dale County School System; the term of 1945-1946.  Laura was also employed as a substitute teacher for the Ozark City School System.  She was self-employed as a Cosmetologist from 1949-1960.  Laura took her first course in cosmetology at Tuskegee Institute, Alabama.  In 1961, she took a refresher course for one year at the Apex School of Cosmetology in Atlanta, Georgia.  She was a very loving and giving mother and devoted pastor's wife.  Laura assisted her late husband, Rev. Dr. S. C. Jackson, Sr., in many capacities during his tenure as pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church in Ozark, Alabama; as well as Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Newton, Alabama until her health began to fail.  Laura served as counselor for the Crusader Department of First Missionary Baptist Church and was recognized as Counselor of the Year at the Alabama Missionary Baptist Women Covention, held in Selma, Alabama in 1991.  She was a member of the "Pride of Alabama" Eastern Star Chapter #60, Charter member of the Daffodil Garden Club and the Ladies Aid Society and Circle #1 of the Missionary Society of First Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 60 years: Rev. Dr. Shem Campbell Jackson, Sr.; son: Shem Campbell Jackson, Jr. and son-in-law: LTC (Ret.) Richard Harris.
She is survived by three children: Mary Jean Harris of Ridgeland, Mississippi; Naomi Dovie (Donald) Ross of Springfield, Illinois and Winston Titus (Barbara) Jackson of Ozark, Alabama; two grandchildren: Dr. Maria Richetta Camille Harris (Vincent) Hopkins of Washington, D.C. and Dawn Michelle Ross of Springfield, Illinois; two great-great grandchildren: Trinity Ross of Springfield, Illinois and Colin Hopkins of Washington, D.C.; and a Godchild: Yolanda Everett of Ozark, Alabama.
