Joe was born on September 27, 1929. He was preceded in death by his wife Fran; his parents, Mariano and Carmela; and his siblings, Agatino, Ann, Tony, Auggie and Frank. Joe is survived by his children, David (Ellen), Douglas (Kris) and Debra; his grandchildren, Meghan, Lauren, Madison, Morgan, Ryan, Patrick and Annie; his great-grandchildren, Stella, Patrick and Benjamin; his sister-in-law, Beverly Maio (Frank); and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were totally loved and enjoyed by Fran and Joe - a beautiful family.
Joe married his high school sweetheart, Fran, and by the grace of God they enjoyed over 73 years of happiness, joy, and a deep-rooted love and respect for each other and a deep-rooted faith in God all their lives. Fran and Joe established a solid foundation for the beautiful and enriched lifestyle that they cultivated and maintained with their children, family members and cherished lifelong friends. Joe expressed his heartfelt thoughts about Fran to their children at their 71st wedding anniversary as follows: “Mom is very special in numerous ways. She is always displaying joy, kindness, goodness, gentleness and a beautiful smile. Above all, she displays love flowing from a pure heart and clear conscience. What a beautiful person. Thank you, God!”
Joe worked for over 38 years for Lucas Machine/Cleveland, a world renowned, state-of-the-art machine tool builder where he served as the Vice President of Operations.
Joe enjoyed more than 30 years of camping with his family at Camp Christopher in Bath Ohio and yearly fishing trips. He was a volunteer with Holden Arboretum for over 12 years and approximately 7200 volunteer hours, primarily as a tour guide. He was also a docent at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens and the Cleveland Art Museum. He managed boy’s hardball baseball teams for over 13 years as well as a wide variety of other volunteer functions. Joe was an avid reader and gardener noted for his yearly creative floral displays.

Rita was the daughter of the late Elisa and Felice Palazzo; sister of John Palazzo (Grazia, deceased), Frances DelBalso (Giuseppe, deceased), Maria Talarico, Anna and Tom Hejduk, Lisa Palazzo (Steve, deceased), and the late Maria and Stefano. Rita is also survived by Dick's siblings, Margie Kelley, Joe (Kathy) Kelley, Mary (Bill) Reilly, Mike Kelley and Ellen Kelley; aunt and-great aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be greatly missed by her aunts, uncles and cousins in Itri, Italy and Australia and her many close friends.

Obituary Preview: JOHN THOMAS “TOM” “POP-POP” DEET, beloved husband, life-partner, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home, on Tuesday May 7th, 2024, with his loyal and loving wife of 60 years, Sue, and his closest family members with him.
Tom was born in Ridgway, Pennsylvania on August 24, 1943. There he grew up as a popular youth who excelled in sports and community events. That same small hometown is also where he met his forever bride-to-be, Sue (nee Erickson) in kindergarten and started dating as young teenagers. They have been by each others’ side ever since.
Tom lived a fascinating and fulfilling adult life dedicated to uplifting his family, fighting for social and civil rights causes, and trail-blazing innovative medical equipment and diagnostic technologies.
Personally, Tom enjoyed outdoor adventures and activities, hosting family gatherings, traveling, watching his Cleveland Browns, and playing racquetball (until age 80!!). But what he and Sue enjoyed most is spending quality time together at their beautiful log cabin remotely nestled within the scenic woods of western Pennsylvania.
Tom and Sue have five children, 12 grandchildren, and one newborn great grandchild. They recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on February 1st, 2024.
Throughout his life, Tom exemplified what it meant to be a true friend, partner, patriarch, leader, advocate, ally, provider, and protector. His contributions to this world are incomparable and his legacy will shine eternally through his family and the indelible memories which they all share with and about him.
On Saturday May 18th, to honor Tom’s incredible life and impact, the Deet family is inviting friends, loved ones and those who’s lives were touched by him to an open house “Celebration of Life” at their home in Cleveland Heights from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Peter Webster Adams, who passed away on January 1, 2024. Anne was a loving mother of Michael Adams (Anna) and Lynne Winings (Timothy); cherished “Nannie” to Connor, Trevor, Kyle, and Graham; and, dear sister of Lynda Britton (Dick).
Anne was born May 18, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Sterling and Alberta Assmus Rounds. She enjoyed her upbringing on Woodmere Road in Cleveland Heights and attended Roxboro School. Anne attended high school at Hathaway Brown School, where she formed enduring friendships that lasted over 65 years. She then went on to attend and graduate from Smith College with a degree in art, where the road to Yale and her beloved Peter was often traveled.
With Peter, Anne had a passion for travel, exploring the world and creating countless memories together. At home, she found joy in spending time with her grandsons, family, and friends with many beautiful evenings spent on the back patio overlooking her treasured woods. Though her grandsons didn't share her early passion for figure skating, Anne was their biggest cheerleader during their soccer and lacrosse games, instilling in them a competitive spirit that she carried until her last day; Nannie did not like to lose.
Her many passions extended to gardening, reading, and leisurely walks along the beach in search of sea glass. She was an enthusiastic bridge player, tennis player, and golfer, relishing her regular games with friends. Anne was renowned for her exquisite needlepoint belts and knitted golf club covers, which she generously shared with loved ones.
Anne participated for many years in the Children’s Guild of Cleveland using her artistic skills to benefit children as well as serving on the Sunbeam Board of Cleveland’s VGS.

Beloved husband of 64 wonderful years to the late Jean (nee Irving ); dearest father of Mary Lynn Jackson (Tome Gall), Scott Jackson, Alicia Kerrigan (Joe), Mike Jackson (Rita), and Greg Jackson; loving grandfather of Madison Myers (Joe), Griffin Jackson, Matt Kerrigan, Brad Kerrigan, Nick Jackson, Emily Jackson, and John Jackson; devoted son of the late Charles Wesley and Luella Alberta Jackson; fond brother of Richard Jackson (Martha) and the late William Jackson and Barbara Waters; loving father-in-law and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Wes grew up with his family in Dewitt, N.Y. and they were summer residents in Ocean City, N.J. for more than 20 years. Upon graduation from Fayetteville High School, he attended Wesleyan University in Conn., where he was a member of the Delta Phi Fraternity. He received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Michigan and a Post Graduate Degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy from the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland. He was licensed in both Michigan and Ohio. While attending university in Ann Arbor, Wes worked as a tennis coach. He met Jean on campus at U-M. Jean would later work as member of the faculty at Ann Arbor School. On August 10th, 1957 they were married.
The Jacksons moved to Cleveland where together, they raised five children. Wes went into full time private practice as a Clinical Psychologist in 1973. Wes achieved recognition and many honors throughout his career. He was a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology-American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP), was certified from the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, and was Faculty Emeritus and Chairperson, Couple and Family Therapy at the Gestalt Institute for 25 years. After a long and successful private practice Wes retired in 2019 at the age of 86.
Wes was a great provider. He loved reading, the arts, fishing, photography, and sports. We will miss his leadership, his listening ear, wise counsel – and his dry wit.

Al was born on November 24, 1925 to Ruth H. (nee Blackmore) and Alfred Joseph Buescher in Cleveland, Ohio.
Al graduated from University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business. Utilizing his talents, he transformed a small Cleveland business into an internationally recognized supply chain provider to fortune 500 automotive companies worldwide. Al founded Interstate Diesel Services when trucks were still powered by gasoline, advanced the company through the age of diesel power, and developed patents still being used today. Al is recognized as a pioneer in the industry.
Hard work paid high returns; Interstate Diesel Services/McBee received the E AWARD from President Lyndon B. Johnson, personally presented by the United States Secretary of Commerce, John Glenn, in recognition of outstanding contribution to the Export Expansion Program of the United States of America.
Al remained Chairman of the Board until his passing.
Al was a generous man, specifically giving to those less fortunate. He funded the St. Martin de Porres Art Studio facility, advancing the culture of art and education of a student annually. Al also funded the Welsh Academy & St. Ignatius endowment providing scholarships for students.
Al got enjoyment out of playing tennis, golf and boating but most importantly, enjoying fine meals and champagne with his family.
Al is survived by his wife Ann (Loeser) Buescher, their two children together, and three stepchildren, Tracy Ann Buescher, Bendix Brad Buescher (and wife Karen), and stepchildren Carol Swetlin (and husband Brian), Doug Weitz, and Ellen Weitz. Al was also a loving grandfather to six; Tracy’s children Margaret, David, Caroline Rashid; Brad’s children Clayton and Alexandra Buescher; and Doug’s son Cooper Weitz.
He was a loving brother to Joan Roach (Daniel, deceased) and the late R. Richard Buescher.

Jack was born on February 19th, 1948 in Youngstown, Ohio. He was the oldest of three children born to Rev. Jack and Saturnina (nee Rosario) Johnson. He was a graduate of Youngstown State University.
Jack’s professional career span of over 40 years took him to the cities of Ashtabula as the Finance Manager and Birmingham, Alabama, working with their city council before returning to Ohio in 1989. He served multiple positions with the City of Euclid, retiring there as the Finance Director. Jack found it difficult to sit still. He spent a short period of time working for the Cuyahoga Board of Elections before returning to his passion, Governmental Finance. He served the City of East Cleveland and the City of Seven Hills as their Finance Director and most recently retiring again from the City of Seven Hills as their Service Director.
Jack married his wife, Sheryl (nee White), on August 31, 1985. They were blessed with two daughters, Jordan (Anthony) Slade, of Alexandria, VA and Courtney (Douglas) McEachern of Cheverly, MD.
He cherished his grandchildren, Anthony II, Amari and Aiden Slade and his most recent grandson, Kyler McEachern.
Jack leaves behind his nieces, Amber Jackson and Alicia Conwell and nephew, Ryan Prater.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Jack and Saturnina Johnson and his sisters, Sandra J. Prater and Joyce Jones.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of the Seidman Cancer Center – third floor for their care.

Rick was devoted to Cathy, his wife of 45 years, and their family. He enjoyed coaching his kids, summers in Huron, and taking his grandkids around in his Corvette.
Rick could fix anything, often found under a car or on a roof. He was an avid reader, which enabled him to provide friends and family with advice on almost anything. A good book, an Indians game or episode of Jeopardy, and a glass of Dewar's was a good day.
Rick was born and raised in Cleveland. He was a proud graduate of St. Edward High School and the University of Detroit, and served in the National Guard. As an engineer, he joined Gould, Inc., and in a variety of roles, traveling the world. He finished his career at Young Regulator. There was never a problem Rick couldn’t solve. And we will miss him so.

(nee Banbury) Mannen; dear brother of John T. Mannen, Jr. (Annette, deceased), Timothy J. Mannen (Micki), and Ann T. Mannen; uncle of John E. and Christopher Mannen.
A proud member of the Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association (OPBA), Mike retired in 2020 from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department where he had served for over 25 years as a deputy in the Justice Center Correctional Facility. He was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School, Bowling Green and Cleveland State Universities.
In his youth, Mike was an Eagle Scout and a leader in an Explorer High Adventure Scouting Troop. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing trips with his dad and brother, Tim. Mike even played on an amateur local broom hockey team with a few of his St. Ignatius classmates. He was a good man, husband, brother, uncle and friend. Mike was funny, smart, kind, and loving.

Raby (nee Macnamara); dearest father of Anne Hunter (Bob), Joe Raby (Sue), Mike Raby (Karla) and Andrew Raby (Deitzah); loving grandfather of Edward and Ellen Hunter, Sierra, Daria, Sean, Colin, Aidan, Autumn, and Connor Raby; dear brother of Jim Raby (Gloria) and the late Marie Kuns (Bill); and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Art was born on June 29, 1937 in Lakewood, Ohio to Dr. Arthur J. Raby, DDS and Margaret E. Raby. After graduating from St. Edward High School, Art attended the University of Dayton where he earned an engineering degree and met the love of his life, Anne.
Art briefly served in the United States Air Force before being designated Standby Reserve in the Air Force’s Critical Skills program while working in the private sector. Art worked as an industrial engineer for McDonnell Douglas, the Austin Company, and Swisher Associates along with consulting work.
Art was an active member of Gesu Catholic Parish, particularly in the church’s softball league and bridge groups. He was a longtime volunteer with the senior support group Village in the Heights. Art loved his family, card games, helping people, Cleveland sports, Ford Mustangs and naps. He will be remembered as extraordinarily generous to everyone who crossed his path.

Obituary Preview: THOMAS RAYMOND VROBEL, M.D., 80, of Euclid, Ohio, passed away on March 28, 2024.
Thomas was born on October 16, 1943, to Raymond and Helen Vrobel in Stevens Point, Wisconsin (When you’re out of Point, You’re out of town). He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he endured the loss of his oldest brother, Michael. After graduating valedictorian from Marquette High School, while also working the night shift in maintenance there, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Notre Dame University, graduating cum laude. His time in South Bend was also the beginning of a (sometimes obsessive) love affair with Irish football that lasted the rest of his life.
He obtained his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Pulmonology at MetroHealth, in Cleveland Ohio. He practiced in the Milwaukee area before completing a Fellowship in Cardiology at the University of Minnesota. He returned to Cleveland to work at MetroHealth where he became a highly regarded cardiologist and interventionalist, a career that lasted over 30 years. He was popular and well respected by the junior physicians and students that he mentored during his career. He continued to teach and volunteer at MetroHealth even after his retirement.
He is preceeded in death by his beloved wife Joyce Leiden (d. 1975), who he met through their mutual interest in Notre Dame, and his beloved wife Susan Vrobel (d. 2024). He is survived by his four children, Michael (Diane), Deborah (Travis) Hannah, Matthew (Valerie), Patrick (Erin); and grandchildren, Benjamin, Natalie, Timothy, Gwendolyn, Olivia, Daphne, Jackson, Penelope, Amelia, and Jameson, as well as his brother, Peter (Susan) Vrobel.
Dr. Vrobel was a voracious reader in spite of his dyslexia – his youngest grandson told the curator of the James A. Garfield presidential library that his “Papa owns more books than this.” A constant learner who practiced calculus for “fun,” he spent his life striving to educate and enlighten himself until his final days.
