Born May 25, 1938, in Boynton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Hubert & Florence (Brown) Christner. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray “Tex” Wahl, Jr.; three brothers, Paul Christner, Earl Christner, Everett Christner; two sisters, Kathleen Gutowski, and Irene Ludy.
Mrs. Wahl was a lining clerk and utility worker in the cutting department at Fechheimer Manufacturing. She was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God, Boynton, PA.
Surviving are fourteen nieces and nephews and a number of great nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Highway, Salisbury, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Bob Hallan officiating. Interment will be in the Salisbury Cemetery.

Born June 8, 1937, in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Clay Hubert and Elsie Mae (Fuller) Murray. She was also preceded in death by one son, Keith Leroy Deal; five brothers, Bill, Walter “Mike”, Frank, Roy, and Dale Murray; eight sisters, Marcella Murray, Stella Delbrook, Alma Gaumer, Norma Deal, Wilma Watson, Emma Durst, Betty Gaumer and Reta Miller.
Mrs. Deal was a dairy farmer and a member of the Greenville Lutheran Church, where she was also a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Greenville Cemetery Committee. She was also a member of the Salisbury Vol. Firemen’s Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by three sons, Barry Deal, Choctaw, OK, David Deal, Salisbury and Kevin Deal, Meyersdale, PA; four daughters, Brenda Cook, Robin McKenzie, Jackie McKenzie and Melissa Arnold, all of Salisbury; two brothers, Robert Murray, Avilton, MD and Carl Murray, Beaverdam, OH; two sisters, JoAnn Bingaman, Oldtown, MD; Doris Hennessey, Clarendon, PA; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury, on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Greenville Lutheran Church on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Tyler Graham officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Greenville Cemetery.

Ms. Keim was a homemaker.
She is survived by three sons, Billy (Patty) Coberly and John Michael Keim, all of Meyersdale, PA; Jerry Mark Keim, MO; three daughters, Pam (friend, John) Hostetler, York, PA; Kathy Bodes, Salisbury; Beverly Shroyer; one brother, Dale (Sheila) Norman, Stumptown, WV; two sisters, Patty (Gene) Miller and Kate (George) Miller, all of Stumptown, WV; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Born January 27, 1935, in Grantsville, she was the daughter of the late Jervis and Martha (Kinsinger) Resh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wayne E. Miller, March 20, 1984; one daughter, Katherine A. Miller; one brother, Edgar Resh; and one sister, June McKenzie.
Mrs. Miller worked in food preparation for Penn Alps Restaurant and was a member of the Springs Mennonite Church.
She is survived by one son, Gregory A. (Kimberly) Miller, Springs; one daughter, Brenda L. (Rodney) Lichty, Salisbury, PA; four grandchildren, Kristin (Cameron) Gnagey, Daniel (Alexis) Lichty, Ryan (Brittany) Miller, and Michael (Elizabeth) Miller.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Goodwill Mennonite Home for the excellent care during Betty’s nine year stay.

Mr. Zeigler was a tractor trailer driver for M&G Trucking, CVS, Jevic, Hill Top Fruit Market, Ryder, Highland Tank and New Century.
He is survived by his wife, Gay A. (Stroup) Zeigler; two sons, Charles (Kim) Lindeman and Roger Lindeman; two daughters, Catherine (Brian) Blackwell and Rebecca (George) Broadwater; two sisters, Virginia Shultz and Marsha (James) Boozer; nine grandchildren, Kelsey (Roger) Bounthisane, Alexa Blackwell, David (Janeen) Broadwater, Dean Broadwater, Patty (David) Siegmyer, Justin (Kara) Broadwater, Katrina (Marty) Snyder, Ben (Rachel) Smith and Isaiah Smith; 11 great-grandchildren, Wynn Bounthisane, Shayla (Arron) Warnick, Dustin (Lindsey) Broadwater, Kurtis Broadwater, Derek (Nicole) Broadwater, Breanna (Jamey) Perney, Kobe Broadwater, Bella Broadwater, Samuel Snyder, Colton Snyder and Koda Snyder; 11 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Effie was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
She is survived by four sons, Roy D. Beachy and wife, Sarah P. (Yoder), Jamestown, PA; Clarence D. Beachy and wife, Bertha (Summy), Meyersdale, PA; Jonas D. Beachy and wife, Mary Emma (Summy), Chetopa, KS; Albert D. Beachy and wife, Sylvia A. (Yoder), Salisbury; four daughters, Sadie (Summy), Roseville, IL; Katie and husband, Joseph S. Brenneman, Meyersdale; Elmina and husband, Daniel Y. Summy, Oakland, MD; Sarah and husband, John J. Yoder, Meyersdale; one sister, Annie (Peachey), Oakland; 49 grandchildren and 98 great-grandchildren.

Obituary Preview: Viola Mai (Amspacher) Abel, 83, of Meyersdale, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born January 4, 1941, in York, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ethel Marion Amspacher and Emory Dehoff. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Leroy Abel, August 11, 1992; one daughter, Sherree Lynn Smith; one son, Dale Allen Abel; one sister, Lynda Darlene Cove; and one brother, Calvin Leroy “Sonny” Amspacher.
Mrs. Abel was a seamstress for a garment factory. She enjoyed sewing, cleaning and going to Chincoteague. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Viola’s memory will be cherished forever.
She is survived by one daughter, Tammie Lee (Carl) Grove; one son, Randy Scott (Deborah) Abel; one sister, Nancy Rae Grove; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
At her request she will be cremated and no services are planned.

Hady, Sr.; one son, Ronald W. Hady; one daughter, Carol A. Parker; one brother, Robert Phillips; and one sister, Dorothy George.
Mrs. Hady was a seamstress for Salisbury Sportswear. She was a member of the Amity United Church of Christ, Meyersdale and volunteered at the Meyersdale Senior Center.
She is survived by one son, William F. (Jennifer) Hady, Jr., Bittinger, MD; one daughter-in-law, Hermie Hady, Hollywood, FL; one brother, James (Ann) Phillips, Wexford, PA; five grandchildren, Eric (Amanda) Parker, Martinsburg, WV; Wendy (Ken) Wolf, Salisbury, PA; Allison Hady, Weston, FL; Andrew (Ashley) Hady, Funkstown, MD; and Mariel (Scott) Carr, Aurora, WV; two great-grandchildren, Laurel Carr and Alex Fair.

Jo Ann was a retired stenographer/secretary for the Salisbury-Elk Lick School District and has also worked as a seamstress for the Salisbury Undergarment Factory. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, West Salisbury.
Surviving is her husband, Thomas F. Counihan; two grandchildren, Sean M. Counihan and Dr. Katrina L. Counihan and her husband, Isaac and two great-granddaughters, Adora and Sophia.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Highway, Salisbury on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 10-11:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 28, 2023, in St. Michael Catholic Church, 1316 St. Paul Rd., West Salisbury, PA, at 12 pm. with the Rev. Jean-Luc Zagroda officiating. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Carol Romaine Menser - January 11, 1943 - December 03, 2023

Obituary Preview: Carol Romaine Menser, 80, of Salisbury, PA, died Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Casselman Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Meyersdale, PA. She was finally able to “Go Home.”
Born January 11, 1943, in Meyersdale, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Viola Ruth (Romesberg) Walker. She was also preceded in death by son, Keith G. Menser.
Carol graduated from Meyersdale Joint High School, Class of 1960 and married her husband, George in 1962, becoming a U.S. Air Force wife. She traveled with her husband and accompanied him through seven changes of duty stations while there. Carol worked through various jobs with the Army/Air Force Exchange Services at varied bases in the United States and Alaska. She traveled extensively throughout the lower 48, Alaska and Canada. While in Alaska, she even rode a whitewater rapids trip down the Nenana River.
Later she worked at Garlitz Grocery Store in Salisbury and was an 18 year employee at Sheetz in Meyersdale. She was a lifetime member of the Earl H. Opel Post 459, American Legion Auxiliary, Salisbury, member of Salisbury Vol. Fire Dept. Auxiliary and Salisbury VFD Ambulance Service. Carol was Lutheran by faith and attended St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salisbury.
She is survived by her husband, George W. Menser, II; one son, Kevin G. (Sarah) Menser, Pensacola, FL; three grandchildren, Kobi, Korbin and Kiley Menser, Cantonment, FL; two brothers, Mark and Carl Walker.
At Carol’s request, she will be cremated and asked that no services be held at this time. A memorial service will be scheduled in the spring.

Barry Lee Arvin of Niverton, PA passed away suddenly on November 30th. He was 74. He is survived by his adoring son, Ryan Charles Arvin and loving long term partner, Barbara Miller. He is predeceased by his parents Lois Lee Arvin and Charles “Dick” Arvin.
He was a Vietnam Vet and after serving his country became a Commercial Hard Hat Diver who ran crews across the country and was known for mentoring the next generation of divers.
Barry was larger than life and full of mischief and laughter. He had a great capacity to make friends wherever he went and many of those friends became his family.
Though he traveled the world he was a small-town boy at heart returning home to Somerset/Garrett County to his roots to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Everyone who knew him will remember him for his engaging personality full of charisma and his contagious smile.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for Spring of 2024.

Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Salisbury, Salisbury Hospital Auxiliary and Salisbury Firemen’s Auxiliary.
She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Korns, Frostburg, MD; Amy (Erik) Robertson and Anita (Richard) Klink, all of Salisbury; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Shawn, Jessica, Kimberly, Joshua, Emma and Grace; nine great-grandchildren, Hanna, Tyler, Evan, Landon, Aurora Jo, Zoe, Mercy, Mason and Sara.

Mrs. Murray was a seamstress for the Meyersdale Manufacturing Co. and working the farm, milking cows, and canning. Violet was a hard worker who collected knick knacks, loved flowers, dancing, singing, especially yodeling and the holidays.
She is survived by two daughters, Lois Jean (Ed) Shunk, Grantsville, MD; Terry Lee (Alan) Miller, Meyersdale; four grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler Shunk; Lindsay and Scott Miller; two great-granddaughters, Aria Grace Shunk and Charleigh Rose Miller.

She was predeceased by her loving parents, John and Violet Hersh, brother, Ronnie Hersh, and great grandchild, Jaxen Tedrow. Virginia was also predeceased by many other beloved family members and cherished pets.
“Ginger” was a 1959 graduate of Salisbury Elk Lick High School. She worked in many capacities in the hotel industry both in Florida and Pennsylvania during her career. She was always on the move even until the very end as well as being a beloved extra Mom to many. Her family and her dogs, Hammie and Mia, meant the world to her along with some very special neighbors, coworkers, and cousins. She was always happy to show off the newest pictures of her grandchildren and great grandchildren to everyone around.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Tedrow) Fleagle, and son, John Tedrow (Jessica).
Surviving grandchildren include, John Tedrow, James Tedrow (Emily), Heather Wilber (Brandon), Marissa Faldetta (Thomas), Cody Tedrow, and Amber Chaney (Richard). Great grandchildren include, Jameson, Connor, Clayton, Cameron, Cooper, Oliver, Reagan, Bennett, Luke, Ellie, and her newest grandchild to enter the world soon.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (Kimberly) Frederick, Avilton, MD; Sean (Dawn) Frederick, Raleigh, NC; one brother, Robert Negosta, Aberdeen, MD; five grandchildren, McKayleigh Wagoner, Cole Frederick, Ryleigh Frederick, Nataleigh Frederick and Samantha Frederick.
At her request she will be cremated and no services are planned.

Bill “Santa” Young was born in Johnstown, PA, on April 3, 1946, the son of the late John and Ethel (Wasmuth) Young. He was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Robert Hollada.
He spent the early years of his life In Meyersdale and the last 59 years in Canton, OH.
Bill was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Upon completion of his military service, he worked at Mercury Clutch until its closing. He then worked for North Canton City Schools as a bus mechanic until his retirement.
Bill played Santa for 40-plus years! He was active in collecting vintage toys and attending auctions.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, William (Debbie) Young and Daniel Young; sister, Carol (Don) Menhorn; grandchildren, Campbell and Augstin Young; nieces, Susan (Dale) Rodtka, Kristin Menhorn; nephews, Rob Hollada, John (Dawn) Menhorn and Donald (Chasadi) Menhorn and his beloved dog, Kripke.

Wayne worked as a farmer when he was younger but was an autobody repairman for most of his life. Wayne was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He loved to listen to country and western music, watch older westerns, and square dance. Wayne was able to travel the United States with his second wife, Helen, and truly enjoyed the adventures. He was a member of the St. Paul Wilhelm Church, Meyersdale.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Donna K. Weimer and her husband, Kevin; two stepsons, Charles Teets and his wife, Rhonda and Steven Teets.
Friends will be received at St. Paul Wilhelm Church, 531 Rock Station Rd., Meyersdale, PA 15552, on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 10-11 a.m. Funeral services will follow in the church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tom Holliday officiating. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, and his presence will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Jody was a hardworking man, and he leaves behind a legacy of dedication and commitment to his family and his friends. He was a pillar of strength, courage, and compassion, and he will never be forgotten.
His memory will live on through the lives of those he touched and the many stories that will be shared about him.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, LaRue Joan (Coddington) Peck; two sons, John Daniel (Bobbie) Peck and David Lewis Peck; one sister, Audrey (Peck) Slagle; one grandson, John Albert (Diana) Peck; and several nieces and nephews.
