Joan was well known for her love of flowers and the skill she possessed for growing and keeping them. She loved listening to music and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In 1984, Joan and her late husband, John William Brown, started John Brown’s Country Store in King. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by five sisters. Joan is survived by her four children; William Brown (Candice), Kim George (the late, Jr. George), Scott Brown (Samantha), and Brian Brown (Joy), nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters; Patsy Vestal, Dell Goins, and a brother; James Tuttle. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00AM Monday April 25, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Donald Davis and Larry Vestal officiating. Burial will follow in Stoney Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service at the funeral home. The Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Fonda Tuttle for the loving care and support shown to Joan, during her time of need.

Barcliff Sr. (74) of Rural Hall, formerly of New Jersey and Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully with family by his side on March 24, 2022.  Jim was born and raised in Philadelphia and spent much of his life living in NJ while raising his family before moving to North Carolina. He was a veteran who proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War.  After his military service, he became a professional tractor trailer driver for Signal Delivery.  He was a loyal member of the Ocean City, NJ Masonic Lodge #171 for 35 years.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother Pearle Cooke, father Clifford Barcliff, Sr., mother-in-law Rose Sankowski and father-in-law Peter J. Sankowski .
Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years Barbara (nee Sankowski), daughter Kimberly, son James Jr. (Beth), daughter Melanie, and grandchildren Brittany, Amber, Brandon, and Kaylee, his brother Clifford Sr. (Pat) and their three children, his cousin Alma Lewis, sister-in-law Frances Sienkiewicz (deceased) (Henry Sr., deceased) and their three children and families, Maryann Lula (Robert) and their two children and families.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
