Verlie was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother. She married Claude Holden on June 28, 1946, and to this union three children were born. She was a member of Patterson Baptist Church. Verlie was a very helpful person who enjoyed making baby quilts for each new arrival of the family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-six years; daughter: Evonne Holden; brothers: Paul, Lee, and Glen Seals; sisters: Inez Walker, Opal Lunyou, Wilma Allen, Pauline Holden, Shirley Palmer.

H. loved to travel, tinker in his garage and could build anything he set his mind to. R. H. was a good man and was always there for his children. Obituary Preview: On July 27, 2019, we lost our angel, Tyler Lee McAlister, 18, of Piedmont, MO. Tyler was born November 3, 2000, to Daron Lee Hampton and Jessica McAlister at Poplar Bluff, MO.
He was truly one of a kind and he will leave a permanent space in our hearts. Tyler had attended Clearwater R-1 school and received his GED in 2019. He had dreams of attending Linn State Technical College to study heavy equipment operation. He had worked for himself doing lawncare in Piedmont area this summer. Tyler was a great baseball player, but more importantly, he loved to fish. Many great times were shared with brother Jamon, gigging. He was known for his huge heart and a big smile.
He is survived by his mother, Jessica, of the home; his brother, Jamon Hampton, of Omaha, NE; his maternal grandparents who helped raise him, John and Jean McAlister of Piedmont, MO; paternal grandparents, Charles and Imogene Fitzgerald of Annapolis, MO; uncles: Joey McAlister, Jamie McAlister and wife, Maura; aunt, Shelly Hampton; many great-aunts and uncles; and a host of cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daron Hampton; paternal grandfather, Sam Hampton; paternal great-grandparents: Albert and Anita Hampton, Harry and Viola Silvy; maternal great grandparents: Clarence and Glenna McAlister; and Oral and Audrey Aldridge. Paul was united in marriage on January 21, 1956, to the late Syble Wilmoth and to this union there were five children born. Paul served in World War II and he worked in Civil Service for 30 plus years, after retiring, he then managed the Girl Scout Camp which he enjoyed very much. Some of his favorite past times were fishing and gardening. Paul was a devoted family man and a perfect example of a father, He passed on a great legacy of family members who served the Lord. He has served in his church as a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent, Deacon and on many church boards. Mrs. Ward was born October 4, 1924, in Greenville, to Lee and Ollie (Bollinger) Clark. She married Frank Ward on December 24, 1943. In her younger years, Retha enjoyed camping, traveling and the outdoors. Retha and Frank owned and operated Ward’s Café in Greenville for many years before moving to St. Louis where she worked at McDonald Douglas. With an enthusiasm to help others, she went to work at the Wayne County Health Department until her working career ended. Retha was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Silva. She was a nurturing, social butterfly that everyone loved, and she loved everyone. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-three years; a daughter, Donna Thornburgh; a son, Danny Ward; a great-grandson, Jimmy Stone; a great-great-grandchild, Archie Hankins; and brothers, Paul and Franklin Clark. Retha is survived by one daughter, Denise Schuerenberg and husband, Paul, of Poplar Bluff; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Shelby Gann and husband, Gary, of DeSoto, MO. Music was provided by Mason German. Todd Westmoreland, Jack Twidwell, James "Maurice" Latimer, Wesley Crum, Brad Schneider, Michael Keith, Ty Twidwell and John Waller served as pallbearers.
