Monica Ronquillo - August 14, 1981 - August 25, 2023

Departed: 08/25/2023 (Bakersfield)
Obituary Preview: Monica passed away peacefully in her sleep in Ohio, where she lived.
Monica is survived by her four children, Jaynee Anaya, Jennifer Anaya, Mercedes Hatton, and Kaitlyn Hatton. She is also survived by her mother Nancy Morales, her brothers Tyler Valverde and Matthew Valverde, stepsiblings, Gabrielle Hubbard, Cecelia Morales, and Gilbert G. Morales.
Monica was born in Bakersfield, CA. and attended Highland High School. She moved to Pennsylvania and later to Ohio to raise her children and broaden her education. She later became a Hospice Nurse devoting her time to caring for the elderly.
As a young child she enjoyed dancing Folklorico with her grandmother Connie B. Nieto. She danced Folklorico from the early age of three and continued dancing into her adult years.
Monica dedicated her life to her children with impermeable love. She believed that education was essential to a successful life, which was instilled into her by her grandmother who helped raise her. She worked endlessly to incorporate that value in her children's life. Her life's mission was to devote her energy to her children's happiness. Throughout her journey on earth, she waded through the waters of generational trauma and these tides continue to liter her shores. Remnants of abuse, lovelessness, and other intimate forms of suffering pervade her legacy. The calling to stop these cycles passes onto her kin. Her death is a tribute to the persistence of generational trauma and the calling to overcome it through love, togetherness, and compassion.
Her family will celebrate her life at Rubio's Funeral Home. The viewing will be on September 28, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. and the funeral will be on September 29, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Rubio's Funeral Home. Immediately following the funeral, we will continue the celebration of her life at the Eagles Club. During his time as a custodian he made positive impacts on students he came into contact with. He spent time mentoring kids and enjoyed coaching chess, soccer and football. His passion for coaching led him to Jack Frost where he coached for many years. As a Jack Frost coach, he would pick up players who needed rides, bring them over for a quick dinner before practice and made sure they had cleats, which he would buy. Scotty was also Chairman of the Contreras Golf Tournament. He devoted his time and resources to ensuring the tournament was a success each year. It was something he was very proud of.
Scotty married his wife, Hollie, in September 2001. Together they built a beautiful life with their three children. He was known as The Theater Dad at Highland High School where his daughter Lily attends. Scotty spent most of his time working on his beautiful home. He was proud of what he was building and loved having guests over to show off his latest project. Scotty never met a stranger. He was friends with everyone. Scotty’s Motto: The day I stop making fun of you, is the day I stop caring. Boy did he care about a lot of people! He believed in that motto and lived it fully. He had a gift of remembering the smallest interaction with someone that he just met and could recall that memory if he were to run into that person years later. Scotty loved the Raiders, Dodgers and Lakers. He was happiest watching the games with his family and friends, where they could argue over calls made. He was most excited when he finally won his fantasy football league which he was the commissioner of for 17 years. Scotty was known for his annual Playoff Parties.
