Catherine F. Krammer - June 02, 1923 - March 28, 2022

Departed: 03/28/2022 (Laytonsville)
Obituary Preview: Catherine Krammer passed away at 98 years of age on the morning of March 28, 2022 at her home in Woodbine, Maryland under mysterious circumstances. She leaves behind her son, Kurt, her daughter-in-law, Mary Beth, three granddaughters, Kristen Lawrence (Kevin), Kelsey Hoyt (Matt), Kerry Cunningham (Johnny), four great grandchildren, and a series of clues. Everyone is a suspect.
Fred Roger's once said, " The connections we make in the course of life - maybe that's what heaven is." Mr. Roger’s never had anything but nice things to say about anyone. This is very suspicious, which also makes him a suspect. Catherine believed that if you didn’t have anything nice to say, then you might as well say it and see what happens. Jane Lawrence now lives by these words.
She was born on June 2, 1923 and was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Catherine was married in 1956 to Ernst Krammer in Austria. They lived in Fishtown, PA, and Catherine enjoyed making toy cars out of sticks and Cheerios for young Kurt. She moved to Maryland in 1986 to live with Kurt and Mary Beth after her beloved Ernst passed away. She enjoyed tricking her grandchildren into eating carrots by telling them it would make their eyesight better. Their eyesight remained just awful.
She also leaves behind distinct memories, like her love of wine and carbs, her ability to overcook pasta, and her love of British murder Mysteries. Her family knows she is now resting at ease knowing that she was able to watch every single episode of every British murder mystery show ever made. It only took all 98 years.
A Celebration of Life will be planned in honor of her 99th birthday on June 4, 2022 at the family home. Additional details to follow. Our family would appreciate donations to Unsolved Mysteries in lieu of flowers.

William Nullmeyer - August 24, 1944 - March 26, 2022

Departed: 03/26/2022 (Laytonsville)
Obituary Preview: William (Bill) Nullmeyer passed away at his long-time home in Brookeville, MD, on Saturday, March 26, 2022. Born August 24, 1944, in Staten Island, NY, to parents Herman John and Dorothea (Storck) and sister Barbara (Brakeley). Bill spent his early years in Crestwood, NY, soon enrolled in Peekskill Military Academy where he refined his athletic prowess as a competitive swimmer among other sports. Upon his graduation in 1962, Bill moved with his parents to Rockville, MD, enrolling in the University of Maryland, College Park, where he continued to develop his skill as a swimmer, earning a spot on the Atlantic Coast Athletic Honor Roll in 1965. Graduating from the university with honors, Bill enlisted in the Marine Corps, completing Officer Candidate School in 1966. Bill served in Vietnam, then became a reservist until his retirement from the Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1986.
In addition to his undergraduate degree, Bill also earned a Master of Science degree from George Washington University while working full-time at the Montgomery County Government where he served in a series of advancing roles until his retirement in 1999.
While Bill’s professional and athletic accomplishments were many, his true joys came from his family. He married the love of his life, Nancy (Reed), in 1976 and welcomed son, John William, and daughter, Susan Elizabeth (Long), fulfilling his life-long dream of fatherhood. He took pleasure in the expansion of his family through his children’s chosen partners, Donny Malles and Brad Long, and relished the role of adored “Pop-pop” to his granddaughters, Ava Elizabeth and Ella Grace (Long). Family was priority – whether it was his wife, children, parents, in-laws, sister or niece and nephews, Bill never missed an opportunity to demonstrate his fierce love for and loyalty to his family.
Bill was famously known for his firm handshake (some may say crushing), direct eye contact (with his piercing blue eyes), all-consuming hugs and genuine smile filled with warmth. Bill was happiest surrounded by his family and friends, taking pleasure from the many relationships forged over the years. He took pleasure in his faith and church community, reading countless stories to his granddaughters (with all the right voices), early mornings spent with friends in the swimming pool (a past-time kept through his mid-70s), a piping hot mug of Dunkin Donuts coffee (French vanilla of course), making improvements around his house (or those of his children) either on his own or together with long-time friends (the “Bad Boys of Mount Airey Road”). People rarely asked Bill for help because he instinctively knew how to be of service to others, gladly lending a hand or sharing some guidance as the need arose. Bill rarely sat still as there was always something to be done or someone to help.
Bill loved fully and lived selflessly – this is both his greatest gift and his legacy.
Memorial donations may be made to one of the following charities, Alzheimer’s Association, Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network or the Wounded Warrior Project.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Oakdale Emory Church in Olney, MD at 11am on Monday, May 2, 2022.

Lucjan Jan Rusiecki - June 19, 1925 - February 11, 2022

Departed: 02/11/2022 (Laytonsville)
Obituary Preview: Lucjan Jan Rusiecki, formerly of Olney, MD died on Friday, February 11, 2022 in Warsaw, Poland, aged 96, following a short illness. Lucjan was born June 19th, 1925 in Hancewice, Poland (now in Belarus), the son of Jozef and Maria (Tatarynowicz) Rusiecki. A World War II veteran of General Anders’ Polish Army, his early life was a story of survival. As a young boy in what was then Eastern Poland, Lucjan lived through the very turbulent times of WWII, watching as Soviet tanks invaded his hometown. Forcefully deported in February of 1940 to a forestry labor camp in Arctic Russia (a settlement called Tushilovo in the Archangelsk Onezski region), he and his family survived an epic journey via cattle train and on foot and nearly two years in that extremely harsh environment. Released in 1942, the family traveled south by freight train, through Russia, Central Asia, and the Middle East, at which point Lucjan, along with his older brother Franciszek and their father, joined the Polish Army under General Anders. Younger brothers, Leon and Jerzy, along with their mother were moved to a refugee camp in Kolhapur, India. In the Spring of 1943 Lucjan joined the 316th squadron of the Polish Air Force in Great Britain, serving in radio communications. After the war, in 1947, unable to return to their homeland, the family was reunited in Great Britain. Lucjan married Etta MacKay (Tobermory, Scotland) in 1957, and they settled in Berne, Switzerland for several years. Lucjan studied electrical engineering and had a long career as a telecommunications and satellite engineer. He traveled widely, throughout Europe and the Middle East, working for companies like RCA (CENTO project), overseeing television and microwave tower installations in mountainous regions. He was one of the pioneers who laid the foundation for much of the communications technology we enjoy today. An avid sailor, he translated the seminal textbook, “Sailing Theory and Practice” by his friend, Czeslaw Marchaj, from Polish into English, while at the University of Southampton. In 1966 Lucjan and Etta immigrated to the USA, where their children, Jennifer and David Rusiecki were born and grew up. He worked for the defense industry as a satellite engineer in the Washington, D.C. area (Page Communications, Fairchild,Mitre). The family settled in Olney, Maryland in 1973. Following his retirement in the 1990s, Lucjan returned on his own to his beloved Poland and settled in Warsaw where he married Natalia Goncharova. Lucjan was a great adventurer, enjoying travel and experiencing many cultures. He loved downhill and cross-country skiing, sailing, soccer, and bridge. He adored his grandchildren in the USA and Belarus, loved to watch them play sports and music, and was always up for a game of chess with them. He is survived by his wife Natalia, his daughter Jennifer Rusiecki, his son David Rusiecki, his step- daughter, Anastasia Malinovskaya, his former wife Etta, son-in-law Raj Jagannathan, daughter-in-law Jenny Rusiecki, his grandchildren Calum and Iona Jagannathan, and Miroslav and Radoslav Malinovski, sisters-in-law Becky and Julie Rusiecki and many nieces and nephews around the globe. A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Olney, MD. Lucjan’s children, Jennifer and David, would like to honor their father by sharing the little-known history that he and his family lived through during WWII – the deportation of Polish citizens into Siberia. The documentary, “Forgotten Odyssey” chronicles this history and can be found at: http://www.youtube.com/watchv=blXwcwjcAjA&t=122s

Evlyn Day Latimer - February 21, 1928 - January 27, 2022

Departed: 01/27/2022 (Laytonsville)
Obituary Preview: Evlyn Day Latimer died peacefully 27 January 2022 in her home. Evlyn was a vivacious personality who loved to meet and have fun with people, sing in the church choir, try new foods, swap recipes, and cruise around in a convertible car or on a boat in the open water. She was three and a half weeks short of her 94th birthday, and was in her bed under the care of her in-home nursing team.
Evlyn Hoyle Day was born in Staunton, VA where her father Willard Farnsworth Day was City Manager and her mother Jessie Wayland Day was a music teacher at the Stuart Hall School, choir director at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, and the founder of the Thursday Morning Music Club, which is still active today. Her mother Jessie instilled a lifelong love of music and the arts in both Evlyn and her older brother Willard "Sunny" Day.
As she grew up, the family moved to Richmond, VA, Chevy Chase, MD, and Bethesda, MD. Evlyn graduated from the National Cathedral School and studied at Converse College. Evlyn married Henry Beckham “Herk” Latimer in 1947 at the Bethlehem Chapel of the National Cathedral. Evlyn and Herk met when Jessie was giving piano lessons to Herk’s sister Eleanor.
During his Navy career, Evlyn and Herk were stationed at multiple locations on the East and West Coasts. She loved the life of a Navy wife, raising a family and socializing with the other young families. Her four sons were all born in US Naval Hospitals – Rich in Portsmouth VA, Randy in Charleston SC, Christian in Key West FL, and Clarke in Bethesda MD. When Herk retired from the Navy in 1960, the family settled in Manlius, NY where he started work at General Electric.
Evlyn and Herk divorced in 1965. Herk, Rich and Randy moved to Vienna, VA. Christian and Clarke stayed with Evlyn in Manlius through High School graduation. Evlyn worked in offices for Ascot Van Lines and Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital. Evlyn loved the holidays and other times when all her boys were with her.
Evlyn was a church-going woman with a strong faith, and a member of the choir at every church. She was involved in the vestry in Trinity Church, Fayetteville, where she also helped coordinate pot-luck dinners and stage holiday plays. She made sure her sons were all baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal Church.
Evlyn moved to Virginia to be closer to her father in 1978, first living with him in Williamsburg for one year and then in Virginia Beach. She worked in sales at Smith & Welton department store.
After her father died in 1986, Evlyn bought a new condo in VA Beach and planted a huge perennial and shrub garden that was the source of much happiness for her and the showcase of the neighborhood. She went on several cruises a year to places in the Caribbean, Pacific Northwest, and Europe. She loved meeting new people and making new friends.
In 1999 she moved to Leisure World MD to be closer to Randy, Christian, and their families. Evlyn had dementia which progressed in later years. Randy and Christian managed her household and coordinated a team of home care nurses. She lived the end of her life as she wanted – in her own home, in good health, safe, and well cared for. She made it clear she did not want to live with any of her sons or in an assisted living facility. Evlyn is survived by her four sons, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren: Richard Gibson Latimer and partner Dixie Friend (Houston, TX), and his sons Colin Henry Latimer (Houston, TX), Eric Gibson Latimer and wife Michelle Cumagun Latimer (Seattle, WA), and their sons Jaxon Kendrick Latimer, Vincent Porter Latimer, Randolph Day Latimer and wife Cynthia Johnson Latimer (Vienna, VA) and her daughters Tracey Christine Chenault, husband Trae (Dolphin, VA), Jacquelyn Cynthia Reed, fiancé Joe Sander (Boardman, OH), Christian Kinney Latimer and wife Leslie Sheppe (Scaggsville, MD) and their daughters Emily Augusta Latimer, husband Alan Zigler (Ellicott City, MD), Sarah Louise Latimer, husband Bryon Bacon (Sykesville, MD);

A service of remembrance will be announced. Evlyn will be buried next to her mother Jessie at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton, VA.
