Wyatt Thomas Lott - May 03, 1998 - February 01, 2024

Departed: 02/01/2024 (Mountain Home)
Obituary Preview: Wyatt Thomas Lott, a spirited soul who never met a challenge or a mountain he couldn’t charm. Left this world far too soon at the age of 25, on February 1, 2024. Born in Mountain Home, Idaho, on May 3rd, 1998, Wyatt’s life was a testament to the joy and laughter he spread as effortlessly; as he did the dirt with the heavy equipment he operated.
Known for standing up for the underdog and navigating life’s twists and turns with a moral compass that always pointed true north, Wyatt was the guy you wanted in your corner. His advice wasn’t just good- it was a "Lott" better than anyone else’s. And when it came to finding solutions, Wyatt could think outside of the box so far, you would think the box never existed.
Wyatt’s smile and laughter were so contagious, they should’ve come with a health warning. His ability to lift spirts was like record-breaking work at Florida Canyon mine in Nevada— earth shatteringly impressive. Speaking of which, Wyatt recently moved mountains-literally- loading a whopping 234,000 tons dirt in a single shift. And yes, that’s tons with a “T” just like the tenacity and heart he brought to every day.
This awesome man of many hobbies never met a river he couldn’t raft, a game he couldn’t hunt, or a fish he couldn’t catch. He was a Jack-of-all-trades, master of fun, and if life were a kitchen. Wyatt was the head chef, serving up hearty helpings of fun and laughter.
He leaves behind a band of loved ones who are proud to be called his family and friends. Wyatt’s legacy is carried on by his parents Lisa and Harold; brother Jack; sisters, Sarah (Tony) and Emily (Ronnie); nephew Hesston; nieces, Roca and Gemma; and a whole ensemble of relatives who were his biggest fans.
Wyatt’s grand entrance into heaven was surely met with open arms by his grandparents, and other angels who went before him. Likely saying, “Here comes trouble,” with affectionate smiles.
The final curtain call for Wyatt’s celebration of life will be April 6th at 4 pm at American Legion post 26 in Mountain Home, Idaho. In true Wyatt style, it’s not a farewell but a standing ovation for a life well-played.
Rost Funeral Home has had the honor of assisting with Wyatt’s encore, preparing for a celebration that’s less about goodbye and more about “See you later.” So, raise a glass, and give a round of applause for the man who taught us all how to make the best of any situation.
Wyatt Thomas Lott, the legend who could even make the angels giggle.

Matilde Lasuen - May 25, 1929 - January 24, 2024

Departed: 01/24/2024 (Mountain Home)
Obituary Preview: Matilde “Matilda” Lasuen, 94, beloved mother, wife, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. She was surrounded by her family, friends and so much love at the end of her life, just as she was throughout it.
Matilde was born June 25, 1929 to Andres Maruri and Anjela Goitiandia of Aulesti, Bizkaia. Her childhood was dedicated to her beloved family and her faith. She was very involved with her local Catholic community and served as President of the Hijas de Maria, (The Daughters of Mary.) Additionally, Matilde was devoted to Anthony of Padua, who is known as the patron saint for the recovery of lost items.
Matilde‘s earliest best friend was her older brother Enrique. Together they shared a special bond which included spending many nights helping their mother make socks to be sold each Monday morning at the market in Gernika. The same market immortalized by Picasso’s “Guernica”.
Another nearby neighbor turned out to be the love of her life. John Lasuen and Matilde, first courted in the Basque country, and continued their long distance relationship after he left to find work in the United States.
John soon returned to the Basque Country and married his lovely bride on January 7, 1956. In March of that same year, they immigrated to the United States.
After arriving in the US, they settled in Bruneau Idaho. On December 1, 1960, Matilde and John went to work for the Bruneau Sheep Company, which is now Simplot Livestock company. Hard-working and dedicated, John was soon promoted to foreman and manager of the “number two farm” and Matilde became the cook for their employees. Her position was hard work; preparing three meals each day, 365 days a year, Matilde served homemade bread, fresh homegrown produce, local meat, and pastries. It was often said, that “both John Lasuen and their employees put their feet under the best table around.”
On February 8, 1957, John and Matilde welcomed their first child, Anjie. Their son Luis, arrived on November 19, 1964. Together, they raised their children with unconditional love and support. Anjie and Luis enjoyed a playhouse, bum lambs to raise, toys, books, friends and hundreds of acres on which to roam.
Between raising her children and cooking for their employees, Matilde also found time to be involved with the Altar Society for St. Henry’s parish in Grand View, Idaho. Every year, the ladies would raffle a cedar chest filled with handmade items and organize the annual Basque dance to raise funds for the parish. Their efforts were always well received and successful.
In 1987, John and Matilde retired and moved to Mountain Home, Idaho. Never idle, they planted, tended and harvested a beautiful garden each year. They also cleaned local business offices as well as their church, Our Lady of Good Council for over 20 years. In addition to being very involved with her parish and altar society, she was also a member of Mother Cabrini Sodality.
Matilde’s love and joy was always fueled by her faith and family. She created a private shrine in her home and each morning, would light a candle, recite her rosary and spend time in prayer.
Matilde lived and embodied her faith. Kind, calm, patient, devoted, and loving, Matilde was always available to listen, to pray, and to support her family, never one to gossip or create disturbance; Matilde always sought and prayed for peace.
As she settled into retirement, Matilde had the pleasure and the joy of watching her grandchildren grow up. Most recently, Matilde spent many evenings calling each of her grandchildren to check in on daily events and ensure they were all home for the evening and settled for bed. John and Matilde had five grandchildren: Nekane, Amaia, Loren, Lance, and Shaleah and 4 great grandchildren, Aven, George, Vinnie, and Esti with whom they were close and loved unconditionally. Matilde is survived by her husband, John: Her son, Luis (Shelly); and her grandchildren Nekane (Tyler), Amaia (Ben), Loren, Lance, Shaleah; and great grandchildren, Aven, George, Vinnie, and Esti. The family request that any memorial contributions be made to the Mountain Home Euskal Laguank P.O. Box 88, Mountain Home ID, 83647 and our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 342 E Jackson St. Mountain Home ID, 83647
A viewing will be held Monday, February 5, 2024, at 6pm, immediately preceding a Rosary Service at 7pm at Rost Funeral Home 500 N. 18 E. Mountain Home ID, 83647. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. February 6, 2024, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Mountain Home.

Kay Marlene Spolski - August 29, 1946 - January 15, 2024

Departed: 01/15/2024 (Mountain Home)
Obituary Preview: Kay Marlene Spolski, 77 of Mtn. Home, Idaho passed away peacefully Jan. 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the youngest of her family, born Aug. 29, 1946, in Lovelock, Nevada to John and Lucille Smulligan. She spent her childhood split between Nevada and Pennsylvania. In 1964 Kay graduated high school in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. She met Paul Spolski at a city dance in Lakeside, Pennsylvania. Paul says he knew when he saw her at the dance, she was the one for him. The two would later marry in June of 1969.
While her husband was stationed at Langley AFB, Virginia, they would have their first child, a daughter, Carrie. After receiving orders to Hahn AFB, Germany, they would have their second child, Christopher. They enjoyed traveling across Europe, visiting many countries throughout their years overseas. Kay especially loved the Gouda cheese from Holland and wine tasting at a favorite vineyard in Germany. After spending 4 years overseas, the family was transferred to Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. This is where they would have their third child, Curtis. Being their last assignment, they settled in Mountain Home to raise the family and enjoyed the beautiful scenery Idaho has to offer.
Kay was a homemaker, raising her children and babysitting neighborhood kids until her children were grown. She then went back to work for the House of Flowers shop, delivering flowers around town for 12 years. She then moved on to the local Walmart the year it opened in town. She would work another 15 years before finally retiring with her husband in 2015.
Kay loved the outdoors, especially family trips when the kids were young, such as camping, fishing and cross country road trips. Many of which were memorable adventures cherished by her family to this day. In their retired years, she and her husband loved riding ATVs around the Sawtooth and Trinity Mountains.
Kay was a talker! She could hold a conversation with any stranger and talk to them like they were old friends. She loved being around her family and participating in the many events that happen as families grow. She was very affectionate to everyone; hugs and kisses were the expected greetings and departures for everyone. She also never turned down a good drink at family gatherings.
One staple of her personality that was easily recognizable was the bright and vibrant nails she was always sporting. Getting her nails done every few weeks was one of her favorite things.
She was always a die hard sports fan for her local BSU Broncos, as well as any Pennsylvania based football and hockey teams. She was as passionate a fan as they come, and could often be heard throughout the house shouting commands at the players through the television.
She is survived by her husband Paul, her daughter Carrie (William Darkes), her two sons Christopher (Isabel) and Curtis. Two grandsons Skyler Darkes (Cassie) and Ryan Darkes (Sekoya), and her two great grandchildren Raelynn and Carter. She was so loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Services will be on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Rost Funeral Chapel.
