Dale A. Haskell - Unknown - April 19, 2022

Departed: 04/19/2022 (Greene)
Obituary Preview: Dale A. Haskell, 72, of Unadilla passed away peacefully on April 19, 2022 in New Berlin. He was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Winifred Haskell; brother, David (Joyce) Haskell and his faithful companion, Tigger.  Dale is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Linda (Richardson) Haskell; daughter, Colleen (Harry) Lutynski; son, Jesse (Kally) Haskell; grandchildren, Sarah Capwell, Todd Capwell, Tyler Lutynski, Easton Haskell and Everly Haskell; great grandchildren, Lisa and Alex; sister, Diane (Jerry) Casey and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  He also leaves behind his Black Lake family and his friends from his many years at IBM. Dale enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, bird watching and was always the constant jokester.  His home away from home throughout his entire life was Black Lake and it will never be the same without him. If you were lucky enough to go on an adventure with him, you could learn how to catch frogs, bullhead fish, extreme water tube, or run for your life from the dock to the camp to avoid being eaten by mosquitoes after a late evening fishing trip.  Spending time with his youngest grandchildren Easton and Everly over the last few years, kept him young at heart and always brought a smile to his face.  His lively debates with Easton always made for an exciting day, especially for Grandma. Dale also loved cooking and took great joy in serving his amazing Lumpia at Christmas time and always made extra for everyone to take home. He gave over a decade of his life to the US Navy and was very proud of the service he provided and was humble about the commendations he received.  He never went anywhere without his Navy hat and loved keeping track of his older grandchildren, Sarah and Todd and their Navy experiences.  Many of us looked to the sky with confusion when he pointed out a B1RD or GU11, but realized his military code for birds and seagulls pretty quickly.  Thank you to the Nurses and Staff at Chase Memorial Nursing Home for being there for him during this last year and helping him through his battle with dementia. Your quick wit and sarcasm will be greatly missed and you will be forever in our hearts. Thank you for sharing your love of the outdoors, humor and adventurous soul with us.  Have fun with Uncle David playing Chicken House hockey. Fair Winds and Following Seas. A Celebration of Life will be held from Noon until 5:00 pm June 18 at the home of Colleen Lutynski, 356 West Main St, Apalachin, NY 13732. Arrangements are under the direction of Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778 and condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.

Eugene Goodrich - Unknown - April 13, 2022

Departed: 04/13/2022 (Greene)
Obituary Preview: Eugene (Woody) Wayne Goodrich, 57 of Greene passed away on Wednesday, April 13th 2022 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City with his loving wife, Judy by his side. Eugene was born on September 1st, 1964 in Johnson City to the late Eugene Goodrich and Joyce Krasko. Joyce lovingly referred to Eugene as her problem child due to his strong fearless determination and the amount of stubbornness and fight he put into everything in his life. This determination and fearlessness was evident in him until the very end. He bravely fought Polycystic Kidney Disease and after years on dialysis he finally received a kidney transplant on September 11th, 2021. After his transplant he was able to start his road to recovery and start enjoying life with the love of his life Judy. Their favorite place to enjoy each other’s company was at the patio of their home where they were united in marriage on July 13th, 2013. Eugene worked as a foreman at both DDS and Labarge Brothers and was well loved till this day by many coworkers that went on to become friends over the years even after PKD caused him to take an early retirement and focus on his health. He graduated from Greene High School in 1984 where his favorite activity was football. He loved retelling the stories from his football days which followed him briefly past his high school days and allowed him to play semi pro on the TC Jets. He chose to end his impressive football career when he became a father. He was an even better father than football player which shows what an impressive man and father he was because his football career still echoes in the small town of Greene New York years later. Eugene was predeceased by his father Eugene Goodrich; sisters, Beth Goodrich and Jean Marie (Gary) Chamberlain and beloved dogs Zippy and Sassy. He is survived by the love of his life Judy; mother, Joyce Krasko; daughter, Cherish Goodrich; grandson, Xander Cacialli; siblings, Susan (Richard) Karpensky, Carol (Mark) Ryan, Bruce (Barbara) Goodrich and Greg Goodrich. Eugene had many special family and friends and nieces and nephews that his world revolved around. He was the type of man that would give the shirt off his back or put a smile on your face on the worst of days. His favorite hobby was tractor pulls. His tractors were his pride and joy. When his health was struggling he enjoyed watching his nephews that held a special place in his heart pull his beloved tractors for him. He watched from the sidelines with a glimmer in his eyes that we can’t be sure if it was caused by pride of his tractors or watching his nephews following in his footsteps.  He loved spending time with friends and family. Whether that be playing pool, darts or simply spending time on the patio surrounded by the people he loved. A time of visitation and saying farewell will be held 4:00 to 7:00pm Wednesday April 20, 2022 at Root Funeral Home 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778. A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family & friends. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.

Obituary Preview: Doris Jane Parker Munson, 94, of Chenango Forks, passed peacefully on December 29, 2021, at Hilltop Assisted Living/Nursing Home in Johnson City. The staff there did a tremendous job during Mom's last days, made so much more difficult due the pandemic. Doris was the eldest child to Lawrence and Naomi Parker of Seneca Falls. She was also predeceased by her husband, Vernon R. Munson; daughter, Cynthia Munson; brother, Richard Parker and sister-in-law, Carol Parker. Doris is survived by her children, Joel (Shirley) Munson of Port Crane, Larry (Lynda) Munson of Johnson City and Wesley (Vicki) Munson of White Lake, MI; grandchildren; Kevin (Deborah) Falank of Charlotte, NC, Korey (Krissy) Falank of Port Crane, Garrett (Valerie) Munson of Milford, MI, Leah (Jonathan) Titcomb of Endwell, Bradley (Kristen) Munson of Pendleton, IN, Maddie Munson of Houston, TX, Christopher Tilley of Madison, WI and Larry Joe Tilley of White Lake, MI; great grandchildren, Brooklyn Munson, Macie Munson, Gibson Titcomb and Lewis Munson; siblings, Janet (Ed) Catherman of Seneca Falls, Merle Parker of Kerrville, TX and Lucy (Donald) Primrose, Yakima, WA; sister-in-law, Betty Parker of Seneca Falls and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Growing up on a dairy farm during the depression, she was no stranger to hard work and instilled those values in all her children.  Doris was a graduate of Myderse Acadamy and Syracuse University and was a teacher at Chenango Forks High School until the birth of her children, when she became a full time homemaker and talented seamstress doing alterations as well as wedding dresses, prom gowns, ice skating costumes, and basketball warm ups. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She endured burying her only daughter in 1968 prior to her husband in 1974. At that time, she was left to wrangle 3 boys. It was certainly a challenge she was up to and they were all fortunate to have her!  She was so supportive of all of them and gently pushed them to be all that they could. She was a loving and giving woman right up until the end.  She put her boys first so much of the time, it is believed that her purpose in life was for her family, rather than for herself. She was an active member of the Chenango Forks Congregational Church, Chenango Forks Fire Department Auxiliary, and Eastern Star in Greene. She was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need and would routinely worked on replacing zippers in coats for Project Concern. She thoroughly enjoyed each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She started ‘Cookie Day’ in 1974 as a thank you to the neighbors for being so good to us after the passing of her husband. This tradition continues today for her extended family. Unfortunately, in 2018 at the age of 91, she could no longer live alone and went into an assisted living facility. Services will be private. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date and the family  looks forward to celebrating Doris in the summer of 2022 with friends and family. Arrangements are under the direction of Root Funeral Home, 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, New York 13778 and condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.
