Obituary Preview: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jason Mizokami of Alamosa, age 47, on May 15, 2024. Jason was a beloved husband, father, papa, brother, cousin, friend, and colleague, whose sudden departure has left a profound void in the lives of many.

Jason was born on March 7, 1977 in Tucson, Arizona to Ron and Cindy Mizokami. He graduated from Alamosa High School in 1995, where he loved playing baseball, drawing, and fixing up his Jeep. After high school, he worked at SunWest where he met the love of his life, Karen. They married in 2001 and built the most wonderful life together with their two amazing children, Jayden and Mia. Deeply rooted in tradition, he was completely devoted to his family. He treated Karen like a queen, adoringly picking her up every day for lunch and dropping anything and everything if she needed him. He was Karen’s biggest supporter on her journey to complete Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Jason loved rooting for Jayden on the football and baseball fields and had tremendous pride in him, who was not only son but also his best friend. Mia was Jason’s pretty princess, he would do anything to spend time with her and see her smile. He enjoyed watching play basketball and cherished her artistic talents– he was always there. He was playfully grumpy, fiercely protective, and quietly generous as a husband and father. He strived to make sure his kids grew up to be good people – and he succeeded.

Jason was a thoughtful, level-headed, dependable, and loving son, brother, and grandson. He moved back home without hesitation to help his father Ron run their business, Apex Produce, and care for his wonderful grandmother Agnes while she was fighting cancer. Upon Ron’s death in 2021, he continued to care for his mother Cindy and truly became the rock of the Mizokami family. Always the considerate son, he checked on his mom constantly, accommodating all of her wants and needs, making sure she never went without. As a brother and cousin, he was wise, encouraging, and nonjudgmental, always a calming presence. He provided a listening ear and was a ceaseless reminder that family always comes first. As a papa, he was doting, affectionate, and always ready with a smile and quiet laugh for Maverick and Zander.

Jason had a great love and deep level of respect for his mother and father-in-law. He worked hard to make them proud of the way he cared for their daughter and grandkids, and he worked hard to carry Pete’s legacy on at Sorum Tractor/Redlund Equipment.

Outside of his family, Jason was known for his incredible work ethic, showing up to work every day at Sorum Tractor/Redlund Equipment to “turn wrenches” as he lovingly called it. He took great pride in learning everything about balers from his father-in-law, Pete and then teaching his son Jayden the ways of his trade. He was extremely dedicated to the farmers throughout the San Luis Valley who depended on him to get their farm equipment running without a hitch, often working overtime to ensure each piece of machinery was perfect. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, professionalism, and loyalty.

He is preceded in death by his father Ron Mizokami, his paternal grandparents Sam and Agnes Mizokami, his maternal grandparents Stan and Dora Medina, uncle Sid Medina, aunts Jeanne White and Marlene Arellano, cousins Darren Mizokami, Avery Garcia and Matthew Medina.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Mizokami; two children Jayden (Kacey Hillis) and Mia; mother Cindy Mizokami; brother Eric Mizokami; sister Kara Mizokami-Stout (Adam); cousin Isaiah Valenzuela who he considered his son; father and mother-in-law Pete and Jane Devine; sisters-in-law Jessica Weinette (Mike) and Susan Holder (Jeff); brother-in-law Ricardo Devine (Stacey); and many nephews, nieces, grandkids, and other family members and friends.

Karen R. Zimmerman - August 31, 1943 - May 15, 2024

Obituary Preview: Karen R. Zimmerman, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024, in Alamosa, Colorado. Born on August 31, 1943, in Denver, Colorado, Karen's life was filled with hard work and caring for others.

Karen's early years were spent growing up in the city of Denver. After graduating from George Washington High School, she journeyed down to Alamosa and enrolled in Adams State College, a place that would shape her future in ways she never imagined. It was there she met the love of her life, Robert Zimmerman. The couple married on March 15, 1963, and spent the next 61 years together building a life filled with love, laughter, hard work and shared dreams.

In 1970, Karen and Bob decided to take a chance and bought the ranch east of Alamosa, where they raised registered Columbia Sheep. Karen took an active role in raising the sheep and especially loved lambing season. The ranch was not just a home but a hub of activity, where Karen's talents as a mom, and ranch wife were a force to be reckoned with. She kept the farm running smoothly while also tending to her beautiful yard and vibrant flower beds. Her amazing cooking was legendary, her kitchen was often the heart of gatherings, where stories were told, and memories made. She dedicated her life to supporting Bob, raising her four children, instilling in them the values of hard work, compassion, and the value of family.

Karen's work on the farm extended to her community where she dedicated time to being a 4-H leader, providing guidance to her club kids. When Bob decided to enter local politics, Karen jumped in to support him. She became active on several local, state and national political campaigns. In addition to her political activities, Karen loved her work and the lifelong friendships forged at Alamosa Floral and First Christian Church in Alamosa.

Karen's legacy is carried on by her devoted husband, Robert Zimmerman of Alamosa, and her children: Mark Zimmerman of Alamosa, Trever (Carrie) Zimmerman of Alamosa, Tracy (Justin) Rogers of Alamosa, and her brother Don Borgeson of Angel Fire, New Mexico. Her grandchildren Randi, Jaymi, Megan, Kelby, Tyler, Case, Makenzie, and Kamryn, will cherish the special memories and time spent with their Grandma Karen. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Relda Borgeson, her in-laws Ralph and Edna Zimmerman, her son, Michael Zimmerman and special neighbors and friends, Chuck and Pearl Baker and George and Delphine Mead.

Karen lived a full life making lasting impressions on those who knew her. Her strong-willed spirit will be the subject of many stories yet to be told and will be carried on for generations.

Thomas Clifford Sanderson - March 29, 1950 - May 13, 2024

Obituary Preview: Born on March 29, 1950 in Del Norte, Colorado, Tom Sanderson's spirit left his body on May 13, 2024, with Margaret by his side.

Like his dad, son, daughter, wife and mother-in-law, Tom was a Sargent high school graduate. He went on to earn degrees in computer programming from Mesa State and Business Education from Adams State.

In October of 1972 he married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Chisholm. Two children were born to this union-Ginger Michelle and Kevin Andrew.

Tom was passionate about riding mules in the mountains. He learned the art from his dad who kept him supplied with ponies or horses beginning at age three. His last four-legged friends were his mules, LJ, Clyde and Penny. He enjoyed riding Clyde or Penny on several week-long rides with the Colorado Mule Riders. Tom felt closer to God in nature, in the mountains on one of his mules. He loved to hunt elk with his friends in Wason Park near Creede, CO, and he enjoyed fishing, particularly at Santa Maria Reservoir where his dad had water rights and where Tom carried on that tradition, hoping to pass that on to his son, Kevin, who passed on at the age of 42 on April 9, 2021.

He and Margaret raised potatoes and small grains in the Sargent Community for 25 years. He was pleased to have raised their children on their farm. Tom had a soft spot for his three granddaughters. He loved to spend time with "his girls" and just play. He loved kids in general and loved to hold babies!

Tom was a member of Monte Vista Masonic Lodge #73 and served two terms as master. He was a 32nd Degree member of the Southern Colorado Consistory and a member of Al Kaly Shriners. He enjoyed being a clown and entertaining the kids. He was a hospital representative for Shriner Hospitals and held offices in the local Sand Dunes Shrine Club multiple times.

He refereed high school football for many years and women’s college basketball for twenty years.

He served on the Colorado Potato Administration Committee, the Colorado Certified Seed Potato Board and on the Monte Vista CO-OP board.

Tom especially enjoyed his work with the Division of Wildlife in Fruita, Colorado where he managed the Horse Thief Canyon State Wildlife Area for five years. He raised crops for wildlife introducing several new crops to the area that attracted even more wildlife than before his arrival there. Deer, quail, turkeys, ducks and geese increased in numbers, and he was delighted to be farming for wildlife. He began instructing Hunters' Education classes there as well.

Both Tom's parents, Clifford and Laura Lee Sanderson, preceded him in death as did his son, Kevin.

He is survived by his wife Margaret of 51 years, his daughter Dr. Ginger (George) Mentz and their three girls, Madeleine Alexis, Anna Catherine and Claire Michelle of Colorado Springs, his sister Betty Brink (Glen Burns) of Eloy, AZ, as well as many extended family members on Margaret's side of the family.

Margaret is deeply grateful for the friends and family who visited or contacted them during this difficult time. She so appreciated the kind, compassionate and efficient care Tom received while at Evergreen Nursing Home where he passed.

Cremation has been chosen, and a Memorial Service will be held June 7, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Rogers Family Mortuary, 404 Morris Street in Monte Vista.

Obituary Preview: Lifetime La Jara resident Myron Richard Peterson, 94, passed away on May 7, 2024. He was born on March 8, 1930 in Sanford, Colorado. He was the 8th of nine children born to Robert and Nellie (Poulson) Peterson. He served his country in the United States Navy. On September 29, 1951 Myron and Eloise Reynolds were married, they were married 66 years till she passed away in 2017. They enjoyed life together and raised three daughters. They loved to travel the world and visited 6 of the 7 continents, and spent time every January in Hawaii. Myron was a cowboy and a rancher until he retired.

Myron always had a joke to tell with a smile on his face. He also always had a piece of candy in his pocket for the kids at church and loved to hold babies. Myron had a deep and commanding voice and could get everyone’s attention. He believed that beef was the only thing for dinner and chocolate and ice cream should be enjoyed every day. A great day for him started with breakfast early in the morning with his buddies at the Campus Cafe. He was very much a family man, who enjoyed spending time together and traveling with his family.

Myron is survived by his daughters Marian Sage and Elaine Peterson; his grandchildren Chrystal, Dustin, and Megan and 8 great-grandchildren; as well as his sister Norma Haynie of Seattle, Washington and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his wife Eloise, his daughter Lynette Welsh, Son in Law Buddy Sage and his siblings, Cora Gray, Alice Gillman, Evelyn Garris, Wade Peterson, Leigh Peterson, Paul Peterson, and LouAnn Gilliat.

Born on February 5, 1959, also in Alamosa, John's life was a testament to his friendly nature, courageous spirit, and passionate heart.

John's journey began as a proud graduate of Alamosa High School's class of 1977. His commitment to his community was evident through his dedicated service in law enforcement. John served with honor and pride as a Deputy Sheriff with the Alamosa County Sheriff's Office, a Deputy Coroner for the Alamosa County Coroner's Office, and as a sergeant and investigator for the Alamosa Police Department. His dedication to safety and service extended beyond his official roles, as he also provided 25 years of reliable delivery service for Fed Ex.

John's love for life did not end with his professional achievements. He was an avid outdoorsman who found solace and joy in the tranquility of his garden. His love for fishing and hunting was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his deep connection with nature and the simple pleasures of life.

Those who knew John would describe him as the epitome of friendliness, always ready with a warm smile and a helping hand. His courage was not just displayed in his career but also in his personal life, facing challenges head-on with an unwavering resolve. John's passion was not limited to his interests but was also evident in the love and care he showed to his family and friends.

John's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of many years, Teresa Peasley, who stood by his side with love and support. He was a guiding light to his sister, Debbie (Randy) Rogers of Arvada, and his brother, David Peasley of Aurora. John's role as a father was one, he held close to his heart, and his wisdom and kindness will be deeply missed by his sons, Bryan (Michelle) Peasley of Alamosa, Daniel Peasley of Wellington, and Christopher Peasley of Alamosa.

The joy of John's life was further multiplied by his grandchildren, Daniel Lucero, Hannah Kroschel, and Aneesa Lucero, all of Alamosa; Aven Peasley of Wellington; Ryan Lucero, Alahna Peasley, and Tresten Peasley. His great-grandson, Zak Kroschel, added another layer of happiness to his life. John's nieces and nephews, Zach Shawcroft, Sarah Shawcroft, and Amber Towry, also held a special place in his heart.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Gary and Katherine Peasley, and a nephew, Levi Peasley. Their memories remain a beacon of love and family values that John upheld throughout his life.

Jose was born in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, Mexico on April 16, 1960 to Gertrudis Saavedra Gutierrez and Nestora Calvillo De Saavedra. He met Patricia Sosa Diaz and they enjoyed 17 years of marriage together. He and his wife were very close they raised their children together, worked together

and enjoyed listening to music together. Jose’s family that survive him are his wife Patricia; his son Alejandro; his daughters Anel and Alyssa; his granddaughter; two sisters who reside in Mexico and one brother who also lives in Mexico; and his

beloved dog “Chapo”. His family who has preceded him in death are both of his parents and two sisters. Jose was a very hard worker, he worked in the potato fields six days a week and he never complained a day about it. He loved to play video games. Jose was a great cook and was in charge of cooking the Carne Asada every Sunday for dinner. He and his wife always sat down to eat dinner at the table together and talk, their children remember hearing them sitting together and talking every day. Jose loved to work on cars, loved his dog, and had an impressive collection of cologne. He also enjoyed

spending time with his only granddaughter. Cremation has been chosen, and a Rosary will be held on Tuesday, May 14th, at 7:00 p.m. and the

Longtime La Jara resident James “Jimmy” Clinton Shaff, 85, Reunited with his wife of 67 years when he passed in his home on May 3, 2024. He was born on a Thursday, October 13, 1938 to Donald E and Alta Ruth (Gabelman) Shaff. Jimmy worked as a carpenter for many years in and around the community of La Jara. He and his wife, Connie, enjoyed traveling together, dancing, and spending time with family.

Jimmy is survived by his children, Susan Marie (John) Durham, Sally Noreen Shaff, his grandchildren Tiffany Wunderlich, Robert E Wunderlich and Kaylea Worm and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Connie Sue Shaff, son James Clinton Shaff II, Mother Alta Ruth, Brother Robert Shaff and sister Frances Miller.

Marianna Brandt - October 11, 1942 - May 03, 2024

Obituary Preview: Marianna Hollmer Brandt was born 12 October 1942 in Crestone, Colorado to Harry Otto Hollmer and Mary "Toots" Tooker Hollmer. She grew up in that mountain community and went to school there until the local school closed. She then attended and graduated from Moffat High School, then attended Adams State College (now University), earning a degree in Elementary Education. She taught second grade for 36 years in the Pueblo public school system, retiring in 2001. Marianna cared deeply for each and every one of her students and never forgot any of them. She recently ran into a student she taught many years ago and, in the course of their conversation, found out that he had no pictures from his elementary years. She spent three days sifting through her pictures to find one of him to copy and send. Her children state that no matter where they went, there was always a former student who recognized and greeted her and she was never to busy to stop and visit with them.

After retirement, she and Claude spent 10 years working at Blue Mesa Ranch in Gunnison ... looking after campers and trolling for fish on the lake. Marianna became an expert at filleting salmon during those years. She became very adept at riding a 4 wheeler around the camp to check for compliance and to visit with and help out the summer people. During those years, she planted and cared for a beautiful wild flower garden.

Marianna passed from this life to the next one on May 3, 2024 at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado, surrounded by her family. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Claude Irven Brandt, one daughter Christine (Vince), four sons: Shawn (Pati), Marty (Missy), Matt (Nikki), and Shane (Corie); 3 step-sons: Mike (Antonette), Carl (Linda), and Doug together with six grandchildren, Shaylin (Joseph), Ty, Dillon, Bailey, Jasper, & Scarlett, two great granddaughters: Olive & Emmy, 6 step-grandchildren, Laura, Julie (Brandon), Chris, Amy, Willie, and Alicia and one step great-grand son, Alex. Also surviving are two brothers, Jim and Tom (Carol) Hollmer, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Acts of service and food were Marianna's language of love. After Claude was diagnosed with diabetes, she made it her mission to learn all she could about the disease and to provide him with a diet that would enable him to live with the disease without having to go on insulin. Always generous, she shared food with family and neighbors and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. She’d spend days canning you things like beans and jam. She’d cook everyone’s favorite food for the holidays and make extras just so you could have leftovers to take. If you told her you had a favorite food or drink she’d buy you so much of it. She would send her grand kids and great grand kids a card with a gift card in it for a treat like ice cream every holiday. One holiday we baked every pie we could think of just because we kept asking her to bake another one. She never had a dirty dish in her sink and would happily do your dishes while visiting. She would do anything for the ones she loved, even if it meant she went without. She was especially known for her dinner rolls and no one made lighter and more delicious rolls than she did. A friend dubbed her "the bread whisperer" as she could tell just by listening to the mixer from the other room whether you'd put enough flour in the dough. Her grandson, Jasper, declares that she was an angel food cake MASTER. Marianna loved critters and pets were always part of the household - dogs, cats, chickens.

Marianna was always a nature lover. Fishing, hunting, hiking and camping with her are fondly remembered by all her children. Her son, Shawn, is especially proud of the fact that she taught him how to hunt, how to field dress his first deer, and how to butcher his game.

Services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 1 o'clock p.m. at the POA Hall in Crestone, Colorado (68575 County Road T, Crestone, Colorado) with graveside services to follow at the Crestone cemetery. Born on January 28, 1935, in Manassa, Colorado, to Don Carlos and Elsie (Sego) Sellers, Jimmy’s life was a testament to his loving, kind, and humorous spirit.

Jimmy is survived by his devoted spouse, BoJean (Bagwell) Sellers, and their children: David Sellers of South Carolina, Stacy (Steven) Filbert of Basildon, United Kingdom, and Patricia (Billy) Wise of Cheyenne, WY. He was a proud grandfather to 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who will miss his playful nature and warm embrace. Jimmy also leaves behind his sister, Sheryl (Jerry) Anderson of Manassa, CO, and brother, Carlos (Soon) Sellers of Las Vegas, NV. He was preceded in death by his sons, Scott (Ranell) Sellers, Stephen (Linda) Sellers, grandchildren Michael and Corrie Sellers and both of his parents.

Throughout his life, Jimmy was not only known for his work as a charismatic car salesman, a career that allowed him to share his passion for automobiles but also as a Water Commissioner for The Division of Water Resources for the State of Colorado where he worked until retirement. His love for the outdoors was evident through his enthusiasm for camping, fishing, and shooting guns.

A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jimmy served his community with dedication, fulfilling many callings over the years. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his daily actions and interactions with others.

Jimmy's legacy is one of love, laughter, and service. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him. Jimmy Loren Sellers lived a full life, and his influence will be felt for generations to come.

Fidel's commitment to excellence and discipline carried over into his professional life, where he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. After many years of service, including working as a supervisor on the renowned F-4 aircraft, he retired in 1993, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and honor.

Setting an example for many, Fidel became the first Latin American police officer in the state of Utah. He served the community of Clearfield with pride. Fidel's innate desire to help others was not confined to his professional life; he was the kind of man who would go out of his way to assist anyone in need, often extending the proverbial shirt off his back to those around him.

Beyond his service in uniform, Fidel's passions painted the picture of a life fully lived. An avid outdoorsman, he reveled in the joys of travel, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. His love for the open road was matched only by the thrill he found riding his motorcycle, with the annual pilgrimage to Sturgis being a highlight of his adventures. When not traversing the country on two wheels, Fidel could be found indulging in his love for classic cars, particularly his prized 1956 Chevrolet Belair.

Fidel's commitment to his community extended to his active membership in the San Luis Knights of Columbus and the San Luis American Legion, where he continued to embody the values of camaraderie and philanthropy.

Fidel is lovingly remembered by his son, Jaime Christopher Rodriguez, and grandsons Iggi Naoh Rodriguez and Bazil Cain Rodriguez. His legacy also lives on through his daughter, Nicola Ann Tingle, and her children, Sydney, Lyndsey, Magan, and Gunner. Fidel's sister, Evangeline Ann Garcia, along with his nephew Doug (Molly) Livermore, and niece Kelly Moffitt, also survive him, each carrying forward the light of his enduring spirit.

Fidel was preceded in death by his father, Jose Solomon Rodriguez, and his mother, Josefita Chavez, who instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion that he carried throughout his life.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Sangre De Cristo Parish with Father John Farley officiating. Alamosa resident Pauline H. Beckner, 95, died April 16, 2024 at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa.

Pauline’s life began on March 25, 1929 in Covington, Ohio, the daughter to Willis Angle and Ollie Rapp Angel. She met her future husband Myron B. Beckner at a young people gathering at church and they soon married on February 7, 1948.

Pauline worked for many years as a Beautician in Ohio and later in Arizona. She always supported her husband in his endeavors with assisting in any way, whether driving a potato truck, or wherever she was needed. Pauline was an accomplished seamstress; she had a knack for art and enjoyed painting. She also enjoyed playing card games, especially Bridge. Above all, Pauline loved time spent with her family, and always had a big hug ready.

Pauline is survived by her children Terry (Connie) Beckner and Linda (Steve) Cheney; her grandchildren, Benjamin (Jenny) Beckner, Matt (Brandi) Beckner, Jonathan (Marissa) Beckner, Todd (Theresa) Cheney, Krista (Cole) Cheatham, Ryan (Autumn) Dyer, Dewey (Lacey) Dyer, Gil (Tyson) Martinez-Dyer and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings Marion, Delmar, Glenna, Thelma, Kenneth, Lois, Luther, Mary Ellen, Clinton, her twin Paul, Betty, and Jean; as well as her granddaughter Kacey Mortensen, and great-granddaughter Lacy Dyer.

A devout Catholic, Lucy was an integral part of the Sacred Heart Society, and her commitment to her spiritual life was evident in her service as an Extraordinary Minister and choir member for the Holy Family Church. Her love for praying the Rosary was a source of comfort and inspiration to many.

Lucy's interests and hobbies brought joy and color to her life and the lives of others. Her gardens were a testament to her patience and attention to detail, while her love for crocheting created warmth in more ways than one. An avid Raiders fan, Lucy's enthusiasm for the game was matched only by her excitement during her Bingo nights.

Described as thoughtful and faith-filled, Lucy leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. Sue's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her children, Patrick and his wife Michelle Malloy of Pueblo, Colorado; Andrew Donald Malloy, his wife Azul Diaz Malloy. and their children Emma Clair, Ankin Shane, Madaline, and Enrik Michael Malloy of Aurora, Colorado; and Molly and her husband Keith Curley of Monte Vista, Colorado. Her grandchildren, Jace Olan, Kai Olan, Emma, Daphne Curley, and Jaxon Curley, were the apples of her eye, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Sue also leaves behind her siblings, Shirley Green of Fort Worth, Texas, and Larry Teghtmeyer of Muncie, Indiana, who will miss her deeply.

Beyond her professional and spiritual achievements, Sue had a passion for the simple pleasures in life. She was an avid cook, whose recipes and meals brought comfort and joy to family and social gatherings. Her flower garden was a vibrant tapestry of colors that reflected the beauty she saw in the world. Additionally, Sue’s skillful hands crocheted many blankets over the years, each stitch a symbol of her love and care, which will continue to provide warmth and comfort to those she held dear.

Sue's grandchildren will remember her as the grandmother who adored them, always ready with a hug, a kind word, and an open heart. Her children will recall her as the rock of the family, the one who could always be counted on for support, wisdom, and a listening ear. Vincent was born on March 15, 1948 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Vicente and Genoveva Gonzales, and was raised in El Rito, New Mexico. Vincent married Rosalinda “Rose” Rivera of Canjilon, New Mexico on June 24, 1967, and the two raised their three children early on in Grand Junction, Colorado, and later Manassa, Colorado, where he would spend the remainder of his life.

Vincent worked during his early years as a laborer for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad, and later as a laborer for other industries and small businesses. In his later years, he and Rose wove New Mexican serapes that were sold throughout northern New Mexico, and passed down to their family and loved ones. Vincent’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, taking trips to New Mexico to gamble, gardening and landscaping his yard, and weaving. He enjoyed a quiet life at home, a private man at heart, his greatest joys were spent passing the days watching the news and spending time and talking with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his family and friends that stopped by to visit him.

Vincent is preceded in death by his parents, Vicente and Genoveva Gonzales; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and John McFarland of Sarasota, Florida; brother, Jerry Gonzales of Grand Junction, Colorado, and brother-in-law, Antonio Rivera of Manassa, Colorado.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose Gonzales of Manassa, Colorado. His children: Travis (Angela) Gonzales, Betsy (Dwayne) Salazar, and James Gonzales, all of Manassa, Colorado. His grandchildren: Samantha (Kevin) Yapsir of Hoboken, New Jersey; Alexandria (Ames) Sisneros of Antonito, Colorado; Manuel (Rihana) Herrera of Alamosa, Colorado; Brandon Gonzales of Manassa, Colorado; and Ryan (Natalie) Gonzales of Alamosa, Colorado. His two great-grandsons, AJ and Alexander Sisneros of Manassa, Colorado. His siblings: Cathaline Lind of Grand Junction, Colorado; Ruby Rivera of Manassa, Colorado; and Genoveva (Luis) Cortes of Tyler, Texas. Marriage to his beloved wife Wendy was a cornerstone of Julian's life, and together they built a family that was a source of immense pride and joy. He was a loving father to Michael (Danielle) Lopez of Parker, CO, Julianne Lopez of San Antonio, TX, Richard Lopez of San Francisco, CA, and Lauren Lopez of Phoenix, AZ. His role as a grandfather to Marques, Jayden, Sarye, and Michael was one he cherished deeply, delighting in their accomplishments and reveling in their growth.

Julian's contributions to his community extended beyond his professional endeavors. As a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, he found strength and solace in his faith. His service as a CHSAA and USATF official demonstrated his dedication to sportsmanship and his love for athletics. Tanya was born in Alamosa, Colorado on May 18th, 1975 to Jeffrey and Melanie (Glynn) Woodward.

She graduated from Alamosa High School in 1993 and attended Adams State College, where she graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. Tanya was always driven by success. She thrived in sales due to her charismatic and genuine personality. In 2018 before her dad, Jeff, passed away, he told her she would make a “damn good realtor,”- and so she did. In 2019, she received the Outstanding Sales Production 100 Plus Award. In 2020, she received the Outstanding Sales Production 150 Plus Award, along with the Rookie of the Year Award. In 2021, she received the Outstanding Sales Production 250 Plus Award. In 2022, she received the Outstanding Sales Production 200 Plus Award. In 2023, she received the Outstanding Sales Production 200 Plus Award, along with the 100% Executive Award which resembled five successful years in Real Estate. Along with numerous awards, she placed in the “Top 5” most, if not every month while being employed at RE/MAX Associates.

Tanya had the ability to light up any room she walked into. Her smile and laugh were infectious. She loved being active, whether she was running at the river, kickboxing, or lifting weights with her daughter in their garage. She loved to look good, and feel good. She was always “out and about,” whether that meant shopping, eating at new restaurants, or pampering herself.

Having an adventurous personality, Tanya loved to travel. Due to her success in real estate, Tanya spent the last three years traveling the world with her daughter and mom. She was known to book a flight every two-three months. One of Tanya’s most cherished activities was spending time and making memories with her daughter Laci. She cherished every moment, often taking videos and pictures of her loved ones, her surroundings, and “the view.” She lived for sunsets, sunrises, and found great peace in the mountains, rivers, and oceans.

Tanya was an avid sports fan, her loyalty lying with the Denver Broncos. She enjoyed the atmosphere of the stadium, attending numerous games with her sister Penni. She was also one of the biggest cheerleaders for her nephews. Whether in a gym, ice rink, show ring, or watching online, she was there to support and cheer them on. She showed pride in her family’s success, including her brother Kyle’s family-owned business, Woody’s Q Shack. She attended many BBQ competitions, cheering him on as well.

Tanya was strong in her faith. Despite the hardships experienced throughout her life, she gave all glory to God and put her trust in Him. Through highs and lows, she instilled these beliefs in her daughter Laci and always led by example. Her strength, drive, and resilience was always admired by surrounding friends and family.

Tanya is survived by her mother Melanie Woodward of Alamosa, CO; her daughter Laci Tecklenburg of Pueblo, CO; her siblings Kyle (Michelle) Woodward of Alamosa, Colorado; and Penni (Greg) Shalberg of Sheridan Lake, Colorado; her nephews: Kyler Shalberg, Kase Shalberg, Dyson Woodward, and Keenon Woodward; the father of her daughter Dustin Tecklenburg of Olney Springs, CO; her favorite Labrador dogs Decker and Brady; her favorite goldendoodle “granddog” Nolan, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father Jeffrey Woodward; her grandparents Frankie and Raymond Glynn, and Edith and Clyde Woodward, and her aunt Nancy Bogner. Together, they built a family that includes their son, Donald Edward Cisneros of Denver, and daughter, Gina Denise Cisneros, also of Denver. Donald's role as a grandfather to Nichole Vang, Kiersten Hadley, and Kalen Cisneros filled him with immense pride and joy. His legacy continued to blossom with the birth of his great-grandchildren, Chloe, Brooklyn, Jonah, Rylee, Willow, and Natayo. He was the cherished brother to Marcia, Alice, Carla, David John, Becky, Douglas, and Cathy. Donald was greeted in the afterlife by his late parents, David and Zobeida Cisneros, as well as his brother David Lee Cisneros, and Grand daughter Elexis Cisneros.

Professionally, Donald dedicated over three decades to IBM, where he played a pivotal role in the field of information technology. His work not only showcased his intelligence and diligence but also his innate ability to connect with colleagues and foster a supportive environment. Beyond the office, Donald's heart belonged to the community of the valley he called home. His influence reached far and wide, touching the lives of many through his active participation in various organizations.

He entered the world on June 20, 1963 to Orlando and Tina Chacon in Romeo, CO.

Richard was a “jack of all trades” “kind of guy”. He worked on cars, worked construction and later hauled scrap for the last few years of his life. He enjoyed rock and roll music, favorite artist Bruce Springsteen, playing the guitar, even if it was out of tune. Richard was a kid at heart and had a collection of toy cars, which he would sit and play with his grandkids when they were little. He grew up in the valley but later moved to Salt Lake City, UT where he met the mother of his children.

Richard is survived by his children Brandon (Gwen) Chacon of Salt Lake City, UT, Josh (Shantel) Chacon of Romeo, CO and Noel (Victor) Zepeda of Alamosa, CO. Siblings Diane (Mike) Vigil of Manassa, CO, Manuel (Norma) Chacon of Capulin, CO, Ray Chacon of Romeo, CO, Juanita (Moises) Ruiz of Salt Lake City, UT, Dennis (Reina) Chacon of Alamosa, CO, Sidney Chacon of Romeo, CO, Orlando (Jackie) Chacon of Salt Lake City, UT, Angelo (Manuela) Chacon of Salt Lake City, UT, the Mother of his children Carol Charley of Alamosa, CO, Brother in law Luis Cisneros of Salt Lake City, UT. Obituary Preview: Thomas Henry Parker, 76, passed away on March 19, 2024 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He spent his last days, at home, surrounded by family. Tommy’s life began in Alamosa, Colorado on June 4, 1947, where he was the youngest of five children. He was born to Harriett and Clayton Parker. He grew up there and eventually graduated from Alamosa High School in 1965. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1966 and was stationed in Long Beach, CA. He served aboard the U.S.S. Bennington CVS20, as a Damage Controlmen during the Vietnam War. During the summer of 1967, while home on leave, he met the love of his life and married her later that year. Tom and Charlotte (Nickson) Parker were married December 29, 1967 in Alamosa, Colorado and shared 56 years together. During their time together, they built a home in Colorado Springs, CO and raised four children. Tommy graduated from Trinidad State Junior College in 1971, with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science with an emphasis in Building Trades. His professor and lifelong friend Dave Gonzales was a critical part of his education. He then went on to run his own business, Parker Masonry, for 35 years. He retired from Glover Masonry, out of Denver Colorado as a Foreman in 2015. In reality, Tommy never retired as he worked for Hertz Rental from 2018 until his cancer diagnoses in August of 2023.

Tommy loved his family and spending time with them was what he lived for. He enjoyed weekends at the lake, summers at Lake Powell, camping, fishing, and family reunions. Early on, Tommy was an avid hunter. As time went on, he became more appreciative of the beauty of nature and the sport. He thoroughly just loved to see and look at pictures of Elk and all wildlife. As his children grew and started families of their own, he adored the time spent with his 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Tommy and Charlotte also enjoyed road trips to Las Vegas, cruises, family vacations, and watching grandkids play sports! Since his semi-retirement, he has thoroughly enjoyed time with all his Buddies at coffee. He’ll be remembered most by his witty comments that made us laugh and cry at the same time, even up to the day he passed.

Tommy prided himself on working hard throughout his life. During his later years, he took up gardening, with special interest in growing tomatoes. In the summer, his sunroom and greenhouse would become a forest of tomato plants, complete with a self-engineered pully-system to keep everything growing and upright. Throughout the growing season, he loved to send pictures to his kids, pleased with his daily harvest.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Charlotte (Nickson) Parker, four children Neil (Kim) of Palmer Lake, CO, Terry (Michelle) of Lewis, CO, Paula of Alamosa, CO, and Kelly (Brady) of Moffat, CO, nine grandchildren, Taylor (Ryan) Rhoades, Zach (Lauren) Parker, Ryanne (Dylan) Greco, Hannah, Hailey, Emma, Parker, Tymberlynn, and Deagon, five great grandchildren, sisters Joanie (John) Cavaliere, Dixie (Alan) Rogers and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Tommy was blessed with four generations of namesakes, with the most recent being the arrival of his great-grandson born late last year.

Tommy is preceded in death by his mother and father, Clayton and Hariett Dodds Parker, His Sister Annie Parker Roberts, brother-in-law Jim Roberts, his brother Clayton James Parker, and sister-in-law Yolanda Nickson.

A celebration of life will be held at 610 Pioneer Haven Point, Palmer Lake, CO 80133 at 2:00pm on April 13th, 2024.

Obituary Preview: Dorothea Carol Thomas Shawcroft, 90, received her heavenly “transfer” assignment joining her eternal and favorite companion, John Lynn Shawcroft and daughter, Marianne, who died as an infant. She leaves behind her children Diana (Ron), Karl, Carolyn (Ed), Janet (Ward) and Paul, her 17 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson

Dorothea was born on September 15, 1933 to Millard Harold Thomas and Bertha Sophia Nielson in Manassa, Colorado, joining two older brothers, Dale, and Leland. Her younger sisters, Mary Jane and Sharon later completed the family, along with a foster sister, Sigrun. She loved her parents and siblings and they were a close-knit family throughout her life. She loved growing up on a farm and worked hard, as the oldest daughter. She helped feed threshing crews, milked the cows, rode horses, and chopped kindling. She loved the time her dad sent her to Primary driving the tractor, even though she was so small she could barely see over the steering wheel. She was also grateful for the older boys that helped her crank it up and start the engine so she could drive it home when Primary was over. She talked lovingly of evenings sitting at her dad’s feet after dinner while he read great books to her and her siblings. Dorothea loved school, loved learning, and was always reading a book or two. She earned her BA degree in Music Education from BYU in 1954.

She was invited to a dance by Lynn Shawcroft, their courtship began, and they were married on June 8, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They lived in LaJara and worked on the family farm, until they decided they needed a career change to support their growing family. They left their beloved San Luis Valley in 1959 and moved to Broomfield, Colorado, where Lynn began teaching in the Boulder Valley school district. They lived in Broomfield for the next twenty-two years and were involved with the community there, raising their 5 children, teaching piano students, serving in many church callings, and making life-long friends. In 1981 they decided to move to Mesa, Arizona, where Dorothea continued to serve her family, church, and teach many more piano students.

In 1984 they accepted a mission call to serve in the Ecuador Quito mission. At 51 years old, Dorothea worked hard and studied to learn to speak Spanish, which she mastered and retained until her final days. She and Lynn also served as Mission President in the Guayaquil mission, as missionaries in the Guatemala Guatemala City Central mission, and then were blessed to open the Guayaquil Ecuador Temple and serve as the President and Matron. The impact they had on the lives of many missionaries and beloved people living in Ecuador and Guatemala continues on today. When they weren’t serving in the capacity of missionaries, they loved spending summertime at their Colorado cabin, and Dorothea (Nana) was her happiest when the family gathered to spend time there. Their winters were spent with family in Arizona, and many wonderful times will be remembered.

Dorothea was always a very positive, happy person, who enjoyed being a homemaker, music teacher and loving wife and grandma. She had a valiant testimony of Jesus Christ and tried to follow His example in the way she lived her life. She spent her final years at Serenade Assisted Living home and always loved the many visitors and family who spent time with her there. She will be dearly missed and we hope to celebrate and honor her life by following her example.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 5, 2024 with a 10:00 am viewing and services at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 920 S Lindsay Rd, Mesa, AZ, 85204.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 am at the Sanford Cemetery, Sanford, CO on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

In his earlier years he worked for his father Fred Gonzales who ran his own painting and roofing business for many years along with construction work. Leroy moved to Colorado Springs in 1985 where he met Pamela Headle and had their son Jeffrey. Leroy enjoyed fishing from a young age, and you could often find him at Rock Creek catching brookies by the dozen, he also enjoyed hunting, shooting pool, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his son Jeffrey Gonzales of Monte Vista Colorado, His mother Lillian Gonzales of Monte Vista, his sisters Connie Gonzales of Monte Vista, Joan (Ples) Stone of Ft. Morgan Colorado, Cecelia [Mark] Crown of Omaha Nebraska and Doreen Bermudez of Denver Colorado as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Leroy was preceded in death by his father Fred Gonzales, Nephew Xavier Sanchez, Cousin Vivian Gonzales, and Jeffrey’s mother, Pamela (Headle) Robinson.
