Obituary Preview: Betty L. Miller, 86, of Bloomsburg went to be with the Lord Monday April 11, 2022 at Bloomsburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born September 4, 1935 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Ervin and Ellen (Hillard) Ebner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Percy Miller who passed away on April 2, 2019, sister Mary K. Reibsome who passed away on August 9, 2020, and grandson James Drumheller who passed away in 2002.
Betty graduated from high school from Bloomsburg Normal in 1953. She was a member of Buckhorn and Bloomsburg Fire Companies and Fire Police. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, doing puzzles, and loved mowing her grass and weed whacking. In her earlier years she was on many bowling leagues.
Betty is survived by her four children; Audrey Boudman, Leroy Miller and wife Tina, Dennis Miller and wife Anna, all of Bloomsburg, and Peggy Miller of Berwick. As well six grandchildren; Jeremy, Billie Jo, Jason, Tabithia, Rachael, Stanley Miller, and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday April 14, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Rodger T. Bunnell Funeral Home, 435 Market St., Bloomsburg with Rev. Gordon Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service.

Obituary Preview: Priscilla (Peggy) Reibsome Shrawder, 92, of Bloomsburg, passed peacefully into eternal rest Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022
Peggy was born March 20, 1929, to Walter F. and Mary (Law) Reibsome. She resided in the Bloomsburg, Danville area her entire life and graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1947. In 1950, she wed Hoover (Junior) Shrawder with whom she celebrated 45 years of marriage before his death in 1995. She never remarried.
She worked at Milco Industries for 37 years. In her retirement, she faithfully volunteered at the Bloomsburg Food Cupboard until her health declined at age 90. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends and working outdoors in her yard. She was a lifelong member of the First English Baptist Church and enjoyed working on mission projects there.
For the past six months, she lived with her daughter, Susan, and her son in law, Tom Nunan, in Danville. She is survived by them and her grandchildren: Jonathan, Rosanna, and Cotter Nunan; her sister, Janet Pursel, of Lewisburg; and her dear friend, Sally Morrison.
Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband; three sisters: Louise, JoAnn, and Doris; and brother, Walter (Corky).
Services will be Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Rodger T. Bunnell Funeral Home, 435 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Dr. Lee Barnhardt officiating. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park.

He graduated from Bloomsburg High School Class of 1960 and then joined the United States Navy in 1963. He was a member of Post 504 American Legion in Herndon, and Dream Machine Car Club. David had his Amateur Radio License. David is survived by his wife the former Bonnie (Lake) Letterman whom he married in 1961, three sons; Jeffrey Letterman and his companion Bonnie Cody of Northumberland, Mark Letterman and his wife Tina of Herndon, Kevin Letterman of Berwick, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and sister Linda Kashner and her husband Wayne of Catawissa. She attended Bloomsburg schools. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, gardening, traveling, and loved playing the lottery. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Hazel is survived by her husband, Gary R. Girton, whom she married on Sept. 17, 1966; brothers: James Hunsinger and fiancee, Jean Artley, of Mainville, Bruce Hunsinger and wife, Donna, of Danville; sister, Nancy Newhart, and her husband, Kenneth, of Bloomsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents as well as six siblings: Lloyd (Butch) Hunsinger, George Hunsinger, Rosalie Newhart, Francis Swisher, Sara Girton, and Shirley Titman.
Graveside services will be held Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, at 1 p.m. at New Rosemont Cemetery, Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Mike Spagnuolo officiating.

Mary was born, November 23, 1931, a daughter of the late, Marvin and Melinda (Sherman) Keller.
Mary attended school in Rock Glen, and also helped work on the family farm. Mary enjoyed gardening and her flower gardens. She especially enjoyed baby sitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her three sons; Doug, Craig, and Mark Cool, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren. She also has three living sisters, Helen, Fern and Minnie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wesley Cool who passed in 1991, and six siblings. She was one of ten children.
Services will be Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Rodger T. Bunnell Funeral Home, 435 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with Pastor Ryan Reigh officiating. She graduated Bloomsburg High School Class of 1961, and worked for Bloomsburg University for over 23 years as a chef. Mary enjoyed cross stitch, crocheting, and doing ceramics. She lived her entire life in Bloomsburg.
Mary Ruth is survived by her two sons, Mark Shaffer and his wife Charmayne and Scott Shaffer, two brothers; Rodney Carey and Kenneth Carey of Bloomsburg, and sister Sharon Carey of Orangeville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Knorr, son Scott Shaffer. As well as five siblings; Donald Carey, Dorothy Temple, Richard, Robert and Larry Carey and stepmother Katherine (Dold) Carey.

Margaret "Peggy" Folk - April 12, 1930 - September 10, 2021

Obituary Preview: “Peggy” Margaret Folk, 91, of Bloomsburg went home to be with the Lord September 10, 2021. Born April 12, 1930, in Bloomsburg, she was the daughter of the late Beach Parker and Elizabeth Rhone Parker. Peggy was a graduate of Bloomsburg School. Peggy and her husband, Ed, joined in many business ventures together. Peggy and Ed’s lifelong business was L.E. Folk Florist, Inc., of which she was vice president. Early on, they grew flowers. Then they opened Folk’s Florist and Garden Center. She went to work every day until the closing in March 2021. Peggy loved flowers and flowers were her life. Flowers would be appreciated for her celebration of life. Her love of The Bloomsburg Fair started many years ago with a milkshake stand, then a candy stand and now Folk’s Batter Dipped Vegetables. They sold mobile homes and owned Pleasant View Estates and Brookside Village Mobile Home Park. Peggy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved spending time with family, especially at their cabin on Thanksgiving. But all holidays were special to her. She loved to fish, cook, play cards and dominos. Peggy and Ed loved to travel. They went to Alaska, Scandinavia, most of Canada, Florida, Europe and many more places. They went as far north as Barrow, Alaska and as far south as Key West. Surviving is her husband, Ed, with whom she just celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on September 2, 2021; her son, Ed, and wife Jolene, Bloomsburg; daughter Linda Cain and husband Randy, Benton; and daughter Jeannie Lapinski and husband Tom, Bloomsburg; her two grandchildren: Aaron Lapinski and wife Nicole, Mississippi; and granddaughter Nicole, Nescopeck. Peggy had a sister: Joan Spaid, Bloomsburg. Along with her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Rinker. A celebration of life will be held Friday, September 17, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Rodger T. Bunnell Funeral Home, 435 Market St., Bloomsburg, with Pastor Howard Leh officiating. Lena is survived by three nephews; Paul Snyder and wife Sharon of Danville, Earl Snyder and wife Debra of Catawissa, and Donald Snyder of Catawissa.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents as well as her sister Alice Snyder and niece Mary Crane.

Obituary Preview: Mary E. (Fox) Earnest, 63, passed away peacefully in her Scott Township home on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, after an illness. She was a resident for over 30 years. She was born in Bloomsburg, on Aug. 5, 1957, to the late John L. Fox Sr. and Dawn M. (Kishbaugh) Girton. Mary attended Central Columbia schools. She had several jobs over her lifetime. Most recently she was employed by Bloomsburg Care & Rehab in the housekeeping department until retiring due to illness in 2019. She was affectionately known to her family as Moo Moo.
Mary enjoyed trips to Lancaster, with her boyfriend, Lester Longenberger Jr., spending time with her family, and especially relaxing on her front porch. The children in Mary’s life held a special place in her heart.
Mary is survived by her beloved daughters: Angela Earnest and companion, Ron Farver, and Jennifer Farver, wife of Scott Farver. She has four grandsons: Michael Earnest, Skyler Farver, Brandon Slusser (fiancee, Brandi), and Bryan Farver; also, two great-grandsons: Jaxson Bailey and Braydon Slusser. She will also be greatly missed by her six brothers: Stephen Roeder, Larry Roeder (companion, Mary Adams), Dan Roeder (wife, Caffie), John L. Fox Jr. (wife, Sue), Scott Fox (companion, Sue Englert), and Michael Fox (companion, Jean Fisher). She had numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents.

David Mark Conrad - September 20, 1964 - May 26, 2021

Obituary Preview: David Mark Conrad, 56, of Bloomsburg passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 after a ten-year battle with liposarcoma. He was born on September 20, 1964 in Berwick, Pennsylvania to the late Lucien "Joe" and Janet (Yohey) Conrad. He was married to Marisa (Miccio) Conrad, and they had three children: Katrina, Brandon, and Cheyenne.
Dave was a 1982 graduate of Berwick High School where he was an accomplished cross country and track competitor for the Bulldogs. He began working for Wise Foods out of high school and was employed for 33 years. Dave enjoyed quality time with his family including vacations to North Wildwood, NJ, traveling to wrestling tournaments across the country, and sitting around the campfire. An avid sports fan, Dave's favorite teams were the Michigan Wolverines and the major league teams of Pittsburgh, especially the Steelers. He also proudly supported his kids by cheering for Bloomsburg High School, Bloomsburg University, Lycoming College, and LSU. Dave often impressed his friends and family with his ability to recall sports trivia. He loved to golf and cruise on his '96 Harley Sportster often in charity rides with his wife. Consistently showing his devotion to his children, Dave was always shouting and coaching from the sidelines at countless sporting events for everything from cheerleading to field hockey to wrestling. Dave also adored his grandson, Dominic, and his Golden Pyrenees, Duncan.
Dave was a patient at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) for the last ten years since his diagnosis of rare liposarcoma. He courageously fought this aggressive cancer and was regarded as a miracle of both medicine and will. His warrior spirit will continue to inspire even in his passing.

She graduated from Bloomsburg High School class of 1950 and from Bloomsburg State Teacher College class of 1954. Carol worked for Danville School District for 32 years before retiring. She was a member of Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary with the gift shop and the front desk, and a former member of Catawissa Eastern Star 265. She lived her entire life in Main Township except for the last three years.
Carol is survived by three children: Candy Steiner husband Dennis of Lancaster, Jeffrey D. Shuman wife Rose of Mechanicsburg, Jill Bankes husband Jeffrey of Mainville, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Franklin Shuman who passed away on April 27, 1994, and brother John R. Vought Jr.

Mark Emerson Shaffer - September 07, 1934 - March 26, 2021

Obituary Preview: Mark Emerson Shaffer, 86, of Bloomsburg, heart was with Jesus for some time now and today March 26th 2021 his soul joined his heart in heaven. He was born September 7, 1934, in Mandata in Lower Northumberland County, a son of the late Lee E. and Christiana (Bohner) Shaffer.
He graduated from Mahanoy Joint High School.  Mark served two year in the United States Army, and then six years in the Army Reserves. He received a trophy for a photo while in the Army. He worked construction in his younger days and worked for Geisinger Food Service for 21 years retiring in 2011. Mark was a quiet gentle man that loved everyone especially his family. He was an avid photographer who loved capturing God's beauty in nature taking pictures of everything God showed him. He wanted to walk the trails and take all the pictures he could. He was a member the Bloomsburg Christian Church and Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273.
Mark is survived by his wife, the former Marilyn (Harner) Shaffer whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage, son Thomas Shaffer and his wife Lori Lee of Wilkes-Barre, daughter Melinda Matthews and her husband Darrell of New Mexico, four granddaughters Reba Shaffer, Anna Marie Shaffer, Anikah R. Matthews and Christine Slack Matthews, and great grandson Theodore Thomas Solt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Timothy Shaffer, brother Lee Shaffer, sister-in-law Romayne Shaffer, and brother-in-law Lester Harner.
Services will be, Thursday April 1, 2021 at 11:00 am at Bloomsburg Christian Church, 107 Deussen Dr. Bloomsburg Pa. 17815, with his pastor, Pastor Eric Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Church of God Cemetery Valley View. Family will receive friends at the Church from 10:00 am until time of service.

She attended Columbia-Montour Area Vocational Technical School. Rae enjoyed gardening, baking, decorating, crafts, going to Wildwood Beach and collecting fiestaware . She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Rae is survived by her three children; George Allen Stine Jr. and his wife Heather of Catawissa, Carey Mae Adams and her husband Skip of Danville, Amy Christine Stine of Mt. Carmel, nine grandchildren; Alyssa, BJ, Dyer, Mason, Jensine, Maddie, Nevaeh, Kayza and Cyzer. As well as three siblings; Kirk Artley, Donna Ivey and Ron Artley.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Allen Stine Sr. who passed on October 26, 2018, also a brother Melvin Artley.

Marlyn is survived by her son Dennis Deihl of Bloomsburg, three step-children; Edward Deihl of Shamokin, Sally Knick of Pittston, Robert Deihl of Bloomsburg, and sister Sandra McDow.
Marlyn was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Donald Deihl, brother Calvin Holderman, and sister Barbara Rhoades.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan (Fisher) McLaughlin, on June 4, 2019; and brother, Dwight McLaughlin, Lee was a graduate of Bloomsburg High School, Class of 1959, and joined the United States Air Force in 1960. He worked for L.A. Benson Co. as a salesman, Shearer Industrial Supply Co. as a territory manager, and last at Haddon Craftsman in Bloomsburg. Lee is survived by his two children: Matthew McLaughlin and his wife, Renee, of Hubert N.C., and Ann Marie McLaughlin-Swank of Fort Valley, Ga.; six grandchildren: Troy Donning Swank, Zachary Jacob Swank, Colton James Swank, Kevin Schreck, Skyler Lee McLaughlin and Blake David McLaughlin; and five great- grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of Espy Fire Company, where he enjoyed playing Bingo. He was a member of Shiloh Bible Church in Almedia where he ran the sound board, and he belonged to the Bloomsburg Moose. Ron is survived by two sons; Jeffry S. Nietz, Ph.D. wife Rita of Coaldale, PA, James Nietz of Almedia, two stepchildren; Danielle Moore of Bloomsburg, Gregory Moore wife Julie of Sunbury, three grandchildren; Scott, Frank, Lauren, and three step grandchildren; Zachary, Brandon, and Elijah. Obituary Preview: Michael David Dessino, 29, of Bloomsburg and formerly of Middlesex, New Jersey, wrestled his last match on June 1, 2020, after a horrific car accident. He was born on September 19, 1990 in Plainfield, New Jersey, to Michael and Denise (Goniea) Dessino of Middlesex, New Jersey. He married Katrina (Conrad) Dessino on August 30, 2019 and they were expecting their first child, Dominic, in September. Mike was a 2009 graduate from Middlesex High School, where he was a standout wrestler. He was a region 3 champion, three-time district champion, three-time state qualifier and two-time state place winner, placing 8th as a sophomore and 4th as a senior. Mike finished his high school career with a record of 145-22 with 98 victories by fall. He would later be inducted into the Blue Jay Hall of Fame in 2015. Following high school, Mike attended Bloomsburg University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology and a minor in criminal justice in 2014. He wrestled for the Huskies from 2009-14, where he posted a 105-43 career record and ranks second in program history for career pins with 45. He was a three-time NCAA Division I national qualifier, three-time PSAC champion, and won the 2011 EWL title at 174 pounds. Mike's 105 victories are 15th on the school's all-time list, while his three PSAC championships made him one of only ten grapplers in the program's history. Following his collegiate career, Mike served as a volunteer assistant coach for two seasons for the Huskies and had a brief run as a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. He went 4-0 as an amateur, picking up three of his wins over a six-month span in 2015 and his last victory in September of 2017; three of his wins came by submission. Mike was a corrections officer at The United States Penitentiary, Lewisburg, and could be caught playing video games daily, eating gummy worms, or wrestling his fur baby, Jaxon. He loved playing paintball with friends, listening to podcasts, hiking, and going to the gun range. Mike was very computer savvy, building his own computer, and enjoyed cooking, especially making his grandma's homemade pasta sauce. He was known for his love of Batman, Jeep Wranglers, the New York Giants, the New Jersey Devils, fishing and crabbing. Mike had a heart of gold and was described by everyone as loving, caring, loyal, patient, and humble, with an infectious smile that could light up any room. Along with his wife and parents, he is survived by two sisters, Brittany and Giovanna Dessino, nieces Lacey Dessino and Isabella Santos, maternal grandmother Ellen Goniea, in-law's David and Marisa Conrad, grandparent in-laws Philip and Barbara Miccio, brother-in-law Brandon Conrad, and sister-in-law Cheyenne Conrad. Mike is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Stephen and Beatrice Dessino, maternal grandfather David Goniea, grandparent in-laws Lucien and Janet Conrad, and his golden retriever, Sawyer. Mike's life was a blessing to all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed by his wife, family, friends and the entire wrestling community.
