Obituary Preview: Age 75, of Orangeville, NY, passed away at home on June 24, 2023.
He was born April 8, 1948 in Ossining, NY, son of the late Robert and Eileen McDonald Thomas. Jeff received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Dayton and did his graduate work at the State University of New York at Brockport. He taught physical education at Warsaw Central School for one year and then taught health education for thirty-two years at Letchworth Central School retiring in 2002. Jeff also was an active member of the Letchworth Teachers Association and served as Senior Class advisor for many years.
Jeff coached Little League baseball for many years in Wethersfield and coached Varsity soccer and Junior Varsity basketball at Letchworth Central School for several years. He served with the Wyoming County Youth Bureau and the Orangeville Summer Recreation program for several years.
Jeff was a longtime volunteer with Angel Action in Wyoming County and the Warsaw Food Pantry. He also spent forty years helping on the Glosser Farm in Orangeville. Jeff was always willing to lend a hand or volunteer wherever he was needed.
He was a longtime member of the United Church of Warsaw and was a former member of the Commission of the church. Jeff was always willing to give his time and talents to any church event or function. He was a longtime member of and daily participant at the Warsaw YMCA; meeting friends, working out and socializing.
Jeff is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Robert Thomas, aunts and uncles.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-two years, Linda Pheifer Thomas, whom he married on August 1, 1970; his sister-in-law, Joan Thomas of Westboro, Mass.; two nieces; grand nieces and a grand nephew as well as countless friends and neighbors.

Roger E. Stephens - January 30, 1943 - June 23, 2023

Obituary Preview: Age 80, of Silver Springs, passed away on June 23, 2023 at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw.
He was born on January 30, 1943 in Warsaw, NY to the late Paul H. and Marian Hinrich Stephens. Roger worked both as a laborer for Conrail and as a carpenter for many years. He proudly served in the Marine Corps and was a member of the American Legion Bates-Courtney Post #105.
Roger was a man with a great sense of humor, who loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed bowling. Roger enjoyed watching all sports, but especially loved the Buffalo Bills and high school sports. He played baseball and football for Letchworth Central School and in later years enjoyed supporting the local team by attending games.
Surviving is his wife, Jane Fancher Stephens of Silver Springs; sons, Roger E. Stephens, Jr. of Chelsea, Quebec, Wade T. Stephens of Silver Springs, Michael R. Stephens of Rochester; grandchildren, Jordan T. Stephens of Silver Springs, Nathan R. Stephens of La Prairie, Quebec, Audrey Ann Stephens of La Prairie, Quebec; many cousins.
Friends may call on Saturday, July 8th from 12pm to 2pm at Robinson And Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where Roger’s memorial service with military honors will be held immediately following at 2pm. Flowers are graciously declined. Memorials may be made to the family.

James E. McCallum, Jr. - March 09, 1932 - June 18, 2023

Obituary Preview: Age 91, of Varysburg, NY, passed away on June 18, 2023 at Strong Memorial Hospital.
He was born on March 9, 1932 in Buffalo, NY, son of the late James Edwin and Doris M. Reardon McCallum. After graduating high school, James worked as a truck driver for Beck’s Dairy before enlisting and proudly serving in the United States Army in 1952. He fought in the Korean War until 1954 when he was honorably discharged. After his time in the service, James went back to working as a truck driver for many different businesses.
James was a member of the American Legion Post 1626 in Cheektowaga, NY, the Crittenden Volunteer Fire Department and the truck driver’s union Local 449. He also enjoyed hunting, woodworking and loved to travel.
Along with his parents, James is predeceased by his sister, Barbara Spencer; his grandson, James Matthew Petersen; and son-in-law, Mark O. Petersen.
James is survived by, his fiancée, Carolyn Putnam of Varysburg; and her children, Tracy (Karie) Matteson of Massachusettes, Shawn (Pamela) Putnam of NY, Ryan (Kim) Putnam of NY; his daughter, Annette Petersen of Manassas, VA; his sister, Jean (Milton) Ernst of Florida; his grandchildren, Joshua M. (Kenalyn) Petersen of Wisconsin, Michael Petersen of Utah, Emily (Alex) Andersen of Idaho, Andrew J. (Krystina) Petersen of Utah, M. Jeremiah of Utah, Jenny L. He was born on May 27, 1950 in Buffalo, NY to the late Irving Vogel and Shirley A. Pettit. Kirk worked for and retired from the Village of Warsaw. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and weight lifting. Kirk loved classic cars, and his jewelry and coin collections.
Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, Dwight, Bruce, and Scott Vogel.
He is survived by his loving companion of 18 years, Ruth Clancy of Perry; daughters, Kelly Vogel of East Aurora and Jennifer (Thomas) Irwin of Warsaw; sons, Jeffrey (Erica) Vogel of Pavilion, William (Dawn) Vogel of Henderson, NV and Kirk Douglas Vogel II (Juan Armabula) of Bradenton, FL; stepdaughter, Tela Clancy of Mt. He was born on March 11, 1949, son of the late Patricia Pappas Coye Harman. Earl worked as an over-the-road truck driver most of his life. After his retirement, he would spend his days going from place to place visiting with people. If you couldn’t find Earl out visiting with folks, you could find him in his favorite chair watching movies. Along with watching movies, Earl had a sweet tooth, enjoyed playing cards, fishing, telling jokes and helping friends with anything he could.
Predeceased along with his mother are, his sisters; Greta Harman, Eva Harman, and Kathy Mehan.
Earl is survived by his sister, Brenda Mounteer of Florida; his brothers, Robert Harman of Bliss, NY, Douglas Harman of Macedon, NY; his special friend of many years, Yvonne “Rusty” Wyse.
No services to be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Obituary Preview: On May 30th, 2023, Alvin William Carpenter, Age 83, of Warsaw, passed away at Wyoming County Community Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw. He was born in Gainesville, NY, in the Carpenter family residence on August 16th, 1939. He was born to the late Benoni Carpenter and Edith Bacon Carpenter. He lived in Gainesville and Geneseo, NY throughout his childhood years. He was an all-state wrestler at Letchworth Central School in his high school years and a member of Boys State.
After he graduated from Letchworth, Al went to Houghton College, where his father attended. He met Gay Ann Hall Carpenter and married her on July 2nd, 1960, during his college years. He had his first child and went to Florida State University with Gay where he received his Master’s degree in education. Al returned to Warsaw and became a teacher at Attica Central School for one year. He then became a permanent teacher at Letchworth Central School, teaching math for 33 years. Alvin and Gay had 3 children starting in August of 1962. After his retirement, Al moved to Maui, HI for 12 years until he moved back to Warsaw when his wife became ill.
Al had a love for golfing, the New York Yankees, the Boston Celtics, the Cleveland Browns and Florida State University football. Nothing compared to the love he had for his wife Gay Ann though, who he enjoyed travelling and collecting antiques with.
Along with his parents, Al is preceded in death by his wife Gay Ann Hall Carpenter, who died 3 years ago in February of 2020.
He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Shelly (Shawn) Carpenter Mann of Castile NY, Monique Nikki (Stephen) Carpenter Fornarola of Webster, NY; his son, Jason Marc Carpenter; his 2 siblings, brother, Donald (Debra) Carpenter of Muncie, IN and sister, Laura (Sam) Carpenter Spaminato of Greece, NY; many uncles, aunts and cousins mostly from the Gainesville area; 7 grandchildren, Shawn Patrick (Ashley) Mann Jr., Brigette Michelle (Jeremy) Mann Harris, Elyse Patricia Gay Ann Mann and Charles Thomas Mann II, Rachel Fornarola of Tampa, FL, Stephen Anthony Fornarola of Tampa, FL, and Melissa Carpenter; 2 great grandchildren, Owen Desmond Harris and Avery Michelle Harris of Warsaw; nephew, Christopher Carpenter of Alcoa, TN; nieces, Lois Rose Carpenter and Becky Carpenter of Muncie, IN.

Obituary Preview: Harry Bennett, age 79, of Warsaw, passed away on May 20, 2023 at Eastside Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Warsaw.
Harry was born in Buffalo, NY on July 12, 1943, son of the late Harry and Norma La Vasseur Bennett. In his early years, Harry moved with his family to Wyoming County, living in Johnsonburg and Varysburg. He joined the U.S. Army in the 1960’s and served in Korea. Upon returning home, he worked as an auto body mechanic and detailer, along with other various jobs through the years. After retirement Harry lived in Warsaw until his passing.
Harry was a kind, quiet and gentle man, who enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with close friends.
Harry is survived by three sisters; Carol (Joe) Pilc of Pavilion, NY, Norma Gerhardt of Varysburg, NY, Mary (Wayne) Whaley of Piffard, NY; two brothers, Danny (Judy) Bennett of Arkansas, John (Debbie) Bennett of Mt. Morris, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
Per Harry’s wishes, there will be no public services. Private burial at Wyoming Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Warne Craig Bramer Jr., lovingly known as Buddy or Budman to his friends and loved ones, passed away on May 18th, 2023.
He was born on November 3rd, 1980, in Warsaw, New York, to Warne Bramer Sr. and Marlene. Buddy attended and graduated from Letchworth High School in 1999, where he excelled not only in athletics but also in socializing and creating unforgettable memories with his massive shenanigans.
Following his high school graduation, Buddy joined his father in the family business of Primerica as a financial services representative. This opportunity allowed him to work alongside his father, building a stronger bond as both family and business partners. Later in life, Buddy became a guard at the Batavia ICE detention center, demonstrating his commitment to public service.
Buddy found the love of his life in Monica (Monk) Funke, and together they were blessed with three beautiful young daughters: Talon, Dakota, and Sierra. Buddy was an avid outdoorsman who cherished his time spent camping, boating, fishing, and hunting with his family. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures and made lasting memories during these adventures.
Known for his warm and friendly nature, Buddy had a reputation for sharing an occasional beer with friends and greeting everyone with his signature full-body bear hugs. His infectious laughter and larger-than-life personality left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have known him.
Tragically, Buddy was predeceased by his beloved wife Monica. He is survived by his biological mother Marlene Shock (Eric Shock), his father Warne Bramer Sr., mother Linda Bramer, grandmothers Anita Piper Bramer and Maggie Jaques, children Talon, Dakota and Sierra, siblings Ricci Scott (Shane Scott), Joshua Kelly (Katelyn Morich), Christopher (Heidi Kelly), Austin Kelly and Nicole Bramer. Additionally, he is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember him with love.

Judy Murphy - March 14, 1953 - May 09, 2023

Obituary Preview: Judy Ann Murphy passed from this life on May 9, 2023, at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Mt. Morris, NY, where she was graciously received and had wonderful care the final months of her life. She waged a courageous battle with her health almost 35 years. Judy was born on March 14, 1953, to Richard David Murphy and Nancy Lee (McKee) Murphy, at Latrobe Hospital in western Pennsylvania. Judy attended her early years of school in Pennsylvania and moved with the family to upstate NY, where she graduated from Letchworth
Central High School. Judy began a career as a nurse’s aide at 18 years of age serving in a nursing facility in Castile, NY. She loved caring for the elderly. Also, during this time she studied Bible classes for a while at Elohim Bible School. She helped care for our beloved grandmother, Freda Murphy at Manor Oak Nursing Facility some years later in Warsaw, NY. She served as a nurse’s aide for 20 years. After this time, she dedicated herself to looking after the joys of her life, her two grandchildren, Tyler and Lily, particularly in their primary years of school. She always tried to attend their various involvements when able and would play board games with them, and was their
biggest fan. Judy loved to laugh, had a lovely alto voice and sometimes sang solos in church when she was younger, loved the water, vacations, country music, pretty flowers
and volunteering at Houghton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for several years.
She very much enjoyed serving others and would do anything for anyone. Judy is survived by her daughter April (Darren) Boynton of Warsaw, NY, grandson Tyler Boynton, granddaughter Lily Boynton, Lifelong companion and friend, Kathy Browne, sister Sandra (Murphy) Reimer, Cibolo, TX, brother Richard Murphy (Suzi),
of Clarksburg, PA, sister Kathy Bower of Fillmore, NY, Tim (Tracey) Murphy of GA. Uncle and Aunt, David and Karen Murphy of Cabot, PA, and multiple nieces,
nephews, cousins, and friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents. At Judy’s request, there will be no viewing or visitation, but instead a celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 21 at 1:30 at the Valley Chapel Fellowship Hall in Warsaw, NY. Family and friends are invited to join us as we celebrate our beloved Judy. On behalf of Judy, we wish to thank you for any kindnesses and friendship through the years you freely gave to her. He was born on May 26, 1940 in Warsaw, NY to the late Harry Woodward and Letha Lawton Woodward Fuller. Marion was employed at JA Yansick Lumber Company as a mill worker for over 30 years.
Marion was known to always be in good spirits. He loved his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids dearly. Marion was a big John Deere fan, owning a few himself. He enjoyed going to the John Deere Expo in Canandaigua and driving his John Deere tractors in the local parades. He also enjoyed trains, watching old western movies, scrapping at junk yards and playing cards.
Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Sue Woodward and brother, Norman Ray Woodward.
Marion is survived by his children, Patricia (James) Henderson of Warsaw, Carin (Adam Perkins) Woodward of Avon, Serena Woodward of Warsaw, Michael (Tricia) Woodward of Warsaw; grandchildren, Hannah Swan and Morgan Henderson, Robert Blasdell, Jr., Lee Seda, and Alexandra Stanford, Tesla and Savannah Cummins, and Ethan, Dyson, and Jett Woodward; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Blasdell, Jessica Blasdell, Jordan Seda, Lola Seda, Derek Stanford, Samuel Stanford, Cecilia Stanford.

Cindy L. (Davies) Bastedo - October 27, 1956 - May 08, 2023

Obituary Preview: Age 66, from Columbia, SC, formerly of Warsaw, NY, went to be with her good Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 8, 2023, after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her son, Andrew, daughter-in-law, Bet and granddaughters, Giuliana and Maddie.
Cindy graduated from Warsaw Central School in the Class of 1974. She worked for many years with the Office for the Aging in Warsaw.
In 2006, Cindy moved to North Carolina to be near her son Andrew and first born love of her life, granddaughter Giuliana. Cindy then remained in the Carolinas to be near them. She loved spending time with her family. She loved baking, cooking, gardening and spoiling any animal that came along.
Cindy was predeceased by her parents, Shirly David Davies and Kathleen Davies, a nephew, Timothy Cousins and a brother-in-law, Mike Stevens.
She leaves behind her son, Andrew Bastedo, daughter-in-law, Bet, two granddaughters, Giuliana and Maddie all of Columbia, SC; her sisters, Ann (Gary) Cousins, Bernice Stevens and Debi Davies all of Warsaw, NY; nephews, Brad Davies of Amherst, Tom (Barb) Cousins of Chili, Brian (Cherie) Cousins of Corfu; nieces, Denise (John) Uptegrove of Angola, Jessica Hough, Mary (Jeremy) Woolard of Mapleton, ME, Christine Diehl; a very close sister like cousin, Sally Burns Smith of Warsaw; many great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends; her aunt, Eleanor Thomas of Warsaw.

Obituary Preview: Age 80 of Warsaw NY, passed away on May 2, 2023 at the East Side Nursing Home after battling a long illness.
He was born in Passaic, NJ on February 18, 1943 to the late Raymond and Irene Briggs. Robert was a HS graduate and proud alumni of Dansville Central School Class of 1962. Some of his fondest memories are of the times he spent with friends and classmates. Robert proudly served with the U.S. Army in Korea and achieved the rank of Sergeant.
Robert was a long time employee of Five Star Bank in Warsaw and served as the VP of the Mortgage department. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed helping others get started in life. Upon retirement, Rob enjoyed playing golf, relaxing by the pool, shopping and traveling.
He is survived by his 3 children: Tracy (Tim) Eustace of Perry, Scott Briggs of Perry, and Bob Briggs of Avon, 5 grandchildren: Gabrielle (Robert) Shoemaker, Dominique and Nikolas Eustace, Mathew and Megan Briggs. Brother, Raymond (Barb) Briggs of South Carolina. Niece, Janice (Gary) Gray of South Carolina and nephew John Briggs of South Carolina and many great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13th at 11 am at Robinson And Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. A reception will be held immediately following the memorial service at the Calvary Chapel, 181 S. Main St., Perry, NY. Burial will take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Dansville at a later date.

Martin E. Mortimer - April 08, 1928 - April 27, 2023

Obituary Preview: Age 95, of Wyoming, NY, passed away on April 27, 2023 at Eastside Nursing Facility.
Marty was born on April 8, 1928, in Warsaw, NY son of the late John and Ina Sparks Mortimer. Shortly after high school and towards the end of World War II, Marty enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After spending four years in the Navy he would then enlist in the U.S. Army, where he spent another eighteen years. During his time in the Army, Marty would serve during the Korean War and the Vietnam War before retiring in 1966. After his time in the military, Marty would work at Mallory Timers and drove school bus for the Warsaw school district. Marty was a past commander of the Walter Klein American Legion Post 532. He also loved his cats and enjoyed bird watching.
Along with his parents, Marty is predeceased by his wife Elisabeth; his sisters, Marge Privitera, Laura Mortimer Webber, Maude Mortimer Gell; his brothers, Harry Mortimer, Arthur Webber and Harry Gell.
Marty is survived by his sister, Mary Mortimer of Vancouver, WA; his brother, Warren G. Mortimer of Poestenkill, NY; his sister-in-law, Sally Mortimer of Sacramento, CA; several nieces and nephews.

In his retirement, he enjoyed going to the YMCA in Warsaw with friends.
Surviving are his siblings, Kathy Bannister of Gainesville, Kay Sheehan of Warsaw, Carol Marshall of Medina; his uncle, David Beardsley; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There are no calling hours. Services will be private. Memorials in Tom’s honor may be made to Arc GLOW, 18 Main Street, Mt. Morris, NY 14510.

Jerry had a long career as a musical arranger for numerous marching bands and drum corps. He was inducted into both the World Drum Corp Hall of Fame and the Buglers Hall of Fame. Throughout Jerry’s career he was a mentor and positive influence on generations of musicians. In recent years, Jerry shared his photographic talents and was owner of the Warsaw Gallery. He was a member of the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce.
Jerry was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and each year was a keen analyst and follower of the National Football League Draft.
Surviving are his wife of forty-nine years, Dianna Miles Kelsey; his daughter, Jessie Kelsey of Buffalo; his sister, Jodie (Jim) Wallace of Plano, TX; nephews, Michael Wallace and Phillip Wallace.

She was also preceded to glory by her parents, Lillian and Howard, and brother, Robert C. Bellaire (Bob), as well as, her sisters in-law, Patricia A Bellaire (Donald) and Nancy Bellaire (Howard).

For many years she cleaned the Pavilion Methodist Church as well as other private residences and also spent some time working at Mallory Timers. She also enjoyed her time as a girl scout leader for 35 years, coaching youth softball in Wyoming, being a literacy volunteer and also serving on the Community Action board.
Along with her parents, Pauline is predeceased by her husband, Leonard Timothy; her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Susan Timothy; her sister, Marguerite Summerville; her brothers, Dick Lee and Don Lee; her grandson, Kelly Timothy; her great grandchild, Casey Timothy.
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Karen (Andy) Hart of Batavia; her sons, Gary Timothy of Wyoming, Craig (Carolyn) Timothy of Wyoming; her sister, Carol Gould of Dalton, NY; seven grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her lifelong pen pal from Ireland, Pat Orr.
