Christopher Bodie DelSavio - March 03, 1992 - May 23, 2022

Departed: 05/23/2022 (Wooster)
Obituary Preview: Christopher Bodie DelSavio passed away tragically at the young age of 30, on Monday May 23rd, 2022 unexpectedly at his residence.
Chris was born March 3, 1992 in Medina, Ohio to David and Jennifer {DelSavio} Shafer. He graduated from Wooster High School. During his youth he had developed a passion for working on cars, which in turn fueled his love for travel, always looking for his next adventure. He wanted to explore the world and what it had to offer with his beautiful daughter Mia Delsavio. Christopher had a wonderful way with words, and was bound to put a smile on your face if you met him. He had the biggest and the most beautiful heart a person could have, with a vibrant soul to match. He loved being outside, meeting new people, and spreading joy wherever he went. He appreciated all the little things in life, especially if it had to do with his daughter.
Every moment he had with his daughter meant the world to Chris, and he made sure to always show it. He always put in the extra effort and love for Mia, he did everything for her from caring for her every need, turning frowns into smiles, teaching her things he had loved to do in his own childhood, like rollerskating and riding bikes. Always attending her gymnastic practice, making sure she felt supported in anything she wanted to do. There was not a moment she spent with her father in which she ever felt unsafe or unloved and we know he will continue to watch over her as her guardian angel.
A father like you is rare, one that's so generous, smart and one of a kind. A father like you is what everyone needs, full of smiles and laughter, always doing great deeds. A father like you who was so understanding of others, and saw the good in anyone and everyone. Nothing could ever replace a father like you, but when you get to heaven, God will be lucky to have an angel like you.
Christopher will be deeply missed by his Daughter Mia; Mother Jennifer DelSavio of Wooster; Father David Shafer of Cleveland; Brother Nabeel; Sister Amira; Step-Father Issa Abu Al Habil Grandmother Mary Markley; Uncles Jason Markley, Gary DelSavio and Kevin DelSavio; Aunt Linda (Tom) Cowen, Gia (David) Schlabaugh; Grandfather Joe Matzelle; and many cousins, extended family, and friends.
A time of remembrance for Chris will be held on June 3rd from 5-7pm at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel for his family and friends to pay their respects. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Anything contributed is greatly appreciated. Thank you all. Remember to cherish your loved ones.

Hazel Margaret Stoll - January 15, 1925 - May 19, 2022

Departed: 05/19/2022 (Wooster)
Obituary Preview: Hazel Margaret Gerbig Stoll was born on January 15, 1925, in Western Star, Ohio, to George Gerbig and Ida Edgel Holden Whitaker Gerbig.  She was the third child of six in the issue of that marriage, but sixth in a blended family of nine.  Her father was a stone mason and her mother a religious woman who ran a tight ship and raised most of the family produce on the Western Star farm.  At sixteen years, she met Carl Victor Stoll at a baseball game, where he was pitching.  Within a few months, they married on November 22, 1941.  They lived with his parents on the Stoll Family Farm in Marshallville for a few months, until Carl took a farming position with George Onslager, a well-known rubber chemist with Goodyear and who was ahead of his time in fertilizer usage.  Carl and Hazel lived on the Sharon Center Onslager farm for several years.  In that period their son Gerald Ray was born.  In 1946 Carl and Hazel purchased the Stoll Family farm at 8798 Mt. Eaton, Marshallville, and their daughter Sharon Kay was born the same year.  Carl and Hazel farmed together for 63 years - first at the Marshallville site for 11 years, nine years at the Twin Lakes Farm on Sousa Street in North Lawrence, and then back to the Marshallville farm for 43 years.  At the Marshallville farm in 1970, they established Y&S Crop Service, a fertilizer and seed company which was very successful with Hazel running the fertilizer mixer and Carl doing applications.
Hazel was an active member of the community in Marshallville.  She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church where she taught Sunday School and then became a member of St. Michael’s Church of Christ.  She was a girl scout leader in Marshallville for many years and was an active member of Mothers’ Club II throughout its tenure.  Mothers’ Clubs were groups of women who met and shared advice on housekeeping and parenting skills.  She was the president of the Parent-Teacher organization of Marshallville elementary, a heroic task since she never finished the tenth grade and suffered from dyslexia.
She outlived all her family, all of Carl’s family, and all her own generation of friends.  She had a most amazing life filled with a husband who loved her for over 68 years.  Carl passed in 2009.  She and he farmed, traveled, developed properties, and established a summer get away, The Half A Day Farm on Seneca Lake in southern Ohio.   She never lacked for projects to do or adventures to enjoy. She passed this life on May 19, 2022, age 97 years, four months, and four days.
She is preceded in death by husband, her parents, her half-brothers Frank and Blaine Whitaker, and Wallace Gerbig, siblings, Juanita Latham, Erma Sheeler, George Gerbig, Gene Gerbig, and Donald Gerbig.
She is survived and beloved by her son, Gerald Stoll (Yvonne) of Marshallville, and her daughter, Sharon Kay Stoll, of the Mineral Mountain range in north Idaho. There are six grandchildren: Michelle Toivonen, Cleveland, OH, Marcia Mazingo (Tommy) of Houston, TX., Millicent Hasandras (Chris) of Seattle, WA, Matthew Carl Stoll (Elizabeth) of Marshallville, Amanda Hussein (Tamar) of Pullman, WA., and Rachal Garrett (Tyler) of Moscow, ID.  In addition, there are eleven great grandchildren: Senja and Victor Toivonen, Madeleine and Thomas Mazingo, Bennett Hasandras, Collin, Abigail, and Catherine Stoll, Grayson and Jordy Garrett, and Sara Hussein.
Private services will be held this summer on the family farm. Donations in her honor can be given to St. Michaels’ Church of Christ, Marshallville, Ohio, Pastor Joseph D. Routh.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and remember the deceased, while also providing essential information to those who need to know about the passing. They help to notify people of the funeral or memorial service arrangements, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences to the family.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the obituary is written by the family members or close friends of the deceased, often with the assistance of a funeral home or obituary writer. In some cases, the deceased may have written their own obituary before passing away.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the deceased's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. It may also include information about the funeral or memorial service, charitable donations in lieu of flowers, and any other relevant details.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or platform. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from a few sentences to a short paragraph. However, some online obituary platforms may allow for longer tributes or stories.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications and online platforms allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can be a great way to personalize the tribute and help readers remember the deceased.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to inquire about their submission process and requirements. Some newspapers may have online forms or email addresses for submitting obituaries, while others may require a phone call or in-person visit.

Can I write my own obituary?

How much does it cost to publish an obituary?

The cost of publishing an obituary varies widely depending on the publication, location, and length of the notice. Expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $1,000 or more for a single publication. Online platforms may offer more affordable options or even free listings.
