Obituary Preview: It is with profound sadness that the family of Roberto Waltman, 66, of Hewitt, NJ passed away after a long illness on April 16, 2024 at Chilton Hospital, Pompton Plains, NJ.
Roberto was born in Cordoba, Argentina to parents Luis and Martha Waltman. He is survived by two sisters, Rivka and Beatriz and their families, his children Eitan and family and Meital.  Step-children John and his family, Renee, his sister-in-law Valerie and his beloved wife , Regina.
Roberto left Argentina as a young adult to go to Israel for a number of years. In the 1990's he came to the United States to pursue his career as a computer programmer.
Roberto and Regina have been members of the Upper Greenwood Lake Community for 22 years in addition to their mutual appreciation for learning, history, nature and British murder mysteries.
One of Roberto's personal achievements is he earned his glider plane and small plane pilots licenses.
A private family service will be held at at later date.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to MercyCorps.org or the Upper Greenwood Lake Ambulance corps under Roberto's name would be appreciated.

Obituary Preview: Ruth H. Petro (Hahn) age 93, of Wayne, NJ passed from this life into the arms of her savior, the Lord Jesus Christ on April 13, 2024. Born in Irvington, NJ in 1930, Ruth was the daughter of the late Herbert and Linda (Stiles) Hahn. Ruth was a homemaker and volunteered in many churches as a women's circle teacher as well as a pianist. She also owned horses which she loved very much. Later in life she devoted herself to teaching Bible lessons and sending out monthly Bible studies and cards of encouragement to friends. Ruth also enjoyed quilting and made many beautiful quilts as gifts to friends.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband James and by her beloved son Robert "Bobby" Petro as well as her brother Herbert Hahn and her sister Elaine (Hahn) Douma.
Ruth is survived by her daughter-in-law Valerie Petro, and her grandchildren Andrea Petro, Luke Petro and Darak Petro. She is also survived by nephews and nieces Chris Hahn, Susan Hahn, John Hahn, Lois Douma and Sarah Schweighardt. Ruth also leaves behind dear friends including Carolyn Marootian beloved like a sister and Richard Unis who was a childhood friend of Bobby's and continued to be like a son to Ruth. At the request of the family all services are private in the care of Richards Funeral Home, West Milford.

Obituary Preview: Thomas "Tom" Hamill, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. He was 72. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Janet, his cherished son, Rob, and his beloved daughter, Leigh Anne. He was a pillar of strength and support for his family, always putting their needs above his own. His devotion knew no bounds, and his presence will be deeply missed in their lives. In addition to his immediate family, Tom is also survived by his brother, Adrian Hamill (Judy), and his sisters, Janet Csida (Joe) and Kathleen Hamill. Together with his late brother William Hamill, they shared countless memories and experiences, forming bonds that will endure beyond his passing. Born and raised in New Milford, Tom was a proud alumnus of New Milford High School. It was there that he forged lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for his future endeavors. Above all, Tom will be remembered as a great father. He showered his children with love, guidance, and encouragement, shaping them into the remarkable individuals they are today. His presence brought joy and laughter to their lives, and his lessons will continue to resonate in their hearts forever.Tom has requested no wake or funeral and instead requests that you remember him for the impacts that he made on your life, pour out a Coors Banquet for him sometime. Mark was the son of the late Celia (Glass) and Louis Soloff. Mark shared 40 years of companionship with his loving partner, Ellen Nadratowski. Before his retirement, Mark was a successful businessman who owned several parking garages in New York City. While the energy of the city was part of his DNA, Mark longed for a life away from the hustle and bustle. Mark fulfilled his lifelong dream of a log cabin on the lake when he moved to West Milford in 1990. A larger-than-life character, his bright smile and hearty laugh always drew others into his orbit. Mark brought his exuberance to all his pursuits, whether meticulously tending to his home, crafting woodwork, or playing cards with friends. But it was the water that always called him, and he lived for the water and the sunshine – from fishing on Pinecliff Lake to taking beach vacations. Mark loved animals, and there was a special place in his heart for his faithful past pets. A gathering to celebrate Mark’s life will be held on Friday, March 8, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. at Richards Funeral Home, 1440 Union Valley Road, West Milford, NJ.

Lorraine is survived by her loving husband Paul her devoted daughter Deborah, her son-in-law Tommy and the two best grandsons in the whole world, James and Michael. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Christine, her husband Phillip and her niece Marley, her husband, Zakary, her nephew Graham and his wife Andy, her sister-in-law Ingrid and niece Michelle, her sister-in-law Terri, her husband Erich, her niece Alexis, her nephew Erich and his wife, Jules. Lorraine loved being surrounded by her best friends traveling, fine dining, and music was an enormuis part of who she was. She was a kind, loving, giving beautiful soul who brightened the lives if those around her. Her smile was infectious and was always the eternal optimist. She was born to the late Dorothy Jane (nee Hagans) and Thomas James Doyle in Springfield, Ohio. Before retiring from the Township of West Milford finance department, she owned and operated the family business, Copy Prints Offset in Montvale, NJ for nearly 25 years. Judy leaves behind her daughter Amy and her husband Clifford Marini and her son Ross and his wife Nicole Manning. She was an extremely proud grandmother to Lucas, Lara, Emilia, Leyton and Alexander. Judy is survived by her two older brothers, James and John Doyle. And by Frederick (Manning), her former spouse, and the father of her children with whom she maintained a lasting connection. Judy was known to many as mom and wore that name proudly. She loved gardening, laughing, connecting, and was an amazing cook sharing her special talents with all who entered the family home. She found comfort and companionship from her dog, Tootsie and her cat, Sandy as well as many other family pets throughout the years. Judy had a way with words like no other and was always thoughtful and supportive to anyone in need. Her humor and laugh will be missed by all who crossed her path. She was fiercely independent, loved her family deeply and was the glue that kept the extended family together. A private viewing was held for her immediate family and a celebration of life will be scheduled for the near future.

Lee had a passion for music and was a devoted fan of The Beatles, Billy Joel, Rush, and Stevie Nicks. He loved attending live concerts so much that he had a separate "bucket list" just for them. Lee also had a great love for nature and enjoyed hiking in the woods. He lived his life to the fullest, enjoying road trips in his Hemi Dodge Challenger to anywhere and never missing a sunset. Lee was preceded in death by his father Leo Schechter, mother Mary Ann Turner-Schechter, younger brother John Schechter, former partner Elizabeth Antoinette, and their son Alexander Schechter. He is survived by his deceased partners family, including Deborah Nickerson (sister), David Becker (brother), Sandra Becker (mother), Emily Pedersen (daughter), and Serinda Becker (niece). Born in Paterson, New Jersey, he was the beloved husband of Debra (Dougherty) Allwood and the loving father of Deena Steele, Bobby Allwood, Jessica Ford, Douglas Hill and Courtny Hill. Bob was also a proud grandfather to Jase, Kyle, Hayley, Meghan, Nathan, Donovan, Sami, Julia, Jordyn, Gavin, Cami, Sara, Hanna and Logan. He was preceded in death by his parents, J Robert Allwood Sr and Florence (Nightingale) Allwood. Bob was a fun-loving individual who always lent a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a passion for trains, fishing, softball, camping, boating and absolutely loved telling his stories (sometimes a little elaborated). In his earlier years, he attended Hawthorne High School, graduating in 1967. After his high school years, Bob served in the Army for two years, proudly associating himself with the military. Following his military service, he pursued a career as an ironworker with the Ironworkers Local 11, of Bloomfield, NJ until he retired. He also held the esteemed position of Commander of the American Legion Post 289 of West Milford for six years. Obituary Preview: McCormick, Mac, of West Milford, NJ passed away unexpectedly on January 8, 2024. Mac was born February 5, 1967 in New Milford, NJ. After graduating from St Josephs Regional High School in Montvale, NJ, he attended York College of Pennsylvania. Mac found his dream job as a Corporate Trainer for Lakeland Bank. He completely embraced teaching his classes and loved his colleagues. Mac is survived by his loving mother Rosemarie of West Milford, NJ. His sisters: JoAnn Greenawalt and her husband Bill of West Milford, NJ, Kathy Heeren and her husband John of Warwick, NY. Mac's nieces who he loved dearly: Kristina Heeren, Julia Heeren and her husband Blain Manson, and Paetra Heeren. Mac's greatest joy in life was community theater and he was happiest on stage in any capacity director, choreographer, singer, actor. He leaves behind an enormous theater family who he profoundly touched in so many ways. Our family is forever changed by the loss of Mac's tremendous sense of humor, laugh, and love for all of us. He will forever be in our hearts and be present with every show tune sung, Broadway play seen, and especially in every rainbow. The visitation will be held at Richards Funeral Home in West Milford, NJ on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 2-4pm. There will also be a Celebration of Life immediately following the visitation from 4-5pm. Mac's presence will always live on in the rainbow, so in remembrance of him, please wear a color of the rainbow to the visitation on Saturday. Obituary Preview: Jobes, Mary Katherine (Corter), gracefully escaped her battle against cancer on January 1st, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family in her home at the age of 92. Mary was born on November 20th, 1931 in Ringwood, NJ. She was a resident of West Milford from the age of ten where she was raised with her eleven siblings. Mary is the last surviving child of Jacob Corter and Mary (Simon). Seventy- three years ago Mary married the love of her life, Lawrence Howard Jobes; they are reacquainted now in heaven. She is survived by her five children. Larry Jobes and Jane of Wantage, Kathy Mastran and Edward of Washington Township, Bonnie Nudo and Robert of West Milford, Debbie Gabriele and Charles of West Milford, and Kevin Jobes and Silvia of Vernon. Mary wore many hats. A daughter, a sister, a mother, an aunt, a friend, and an extremely adored Grandma. She is survived by 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. They brought her great joy and she brought incredible love to each of their lives. Mary was a member of the Rosary Society of St. JosephsChurc and an extraordinary artist and was one of the founding members of The Goldfinch Painters Guild. She was a volunteer in the West Milford community while raising her children. She spent a lot of time in her garden and enjoyed being around flowers and sharing vegetables with everyone that came for a visit. "Cookie" was her nickname and she was sweet and fit the term of endearment well. She was exceptionally caring and often would share vegetables from her garden or her one of a kind delicious foods and desserts with family, friends and neighbors. Mary had many friends and would keep in touch with all of them. It was nothing for her to make something, bake something or even drop everything to help someone else. Making other people happy made her happy. Mary was a light and wanted to uplift others as much as she could throughout her lifetime. Her personality was rare and beautiful. If she was in your life, your life has been touched forever. She is incredibly missed by her family. Donations can be made in Marys name to The Apshawa FireHouse or St. Josephs Church. Obituary Preview: Theresa Walsh, age 80, a long-time resident of West Milford NJ passed away on May 28, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. Terry was the daughter of the late Peter and Maria (Pavignamo) Pralotto. She was born in Union NJ and moved to West Milford in 1970. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, walking her dogs, and loved gardening. In her later years, was confronted with the diagnosis of dementia, that slowly took away the memories and abilities that define us, but it could never take away the essence of who she was.
She leaves behind her beloved partner of 24 years Walter Hazelman, daughter Lisa Walsh-Hewitt, son-in-law Joseph Hewitt, and niece Linda Pralotto. She now joins those who preceded her in passing including her late husband Kevin P. Walsh, and brothers George Pralotto and Mario Pralotto.

Born and raised in Paterson, NJ, she moved to West Milford in 1979 where she worked as an attendance secretary at West Milford High School for many years before retiring in 2002. Pat had a lifelong love of the Jersey Shore. She cherished spending summers in Ocean Grove and enjoying the beach with family and friends. In her free time, Pat enjoyed reading, spending quality time with her loved ones, and making lasting memories. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Pat is survived by her loving daughter Sharon of Edison, NJ, her brother John and sister-in-law Maryann of Marietta, GA, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Obituary Preview: Robert E. Gunderman passed away peacefully at his residence in West Milford, New Jersey on May 28th, 2024. He was 89 years old. He was born in Sparta New Jersey in 1934 and later moved to Franklin where he attended both the elementary and high school. He attended the University of Virginia from 1953 to 1957 where he received his bachelor’s degree. He later then received a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Montclair State University 1965. During the 50s and 60s he attended several national science foundation programs in biology, chemistry, and math.
Mr. Gunderman was a science teacher, coach, and mentor to many people he met in his life. He spent 36 years in education teaching and coaching. He coached football for two years at Dickinson High School in Jersey City, six years in West Milford Township and six years at Lakeland Regional High School. His coaching career covered 14 seasons. He was athletic director in West Milford for five years and Vice Principal at Lakeland Regional High School for 18 years.
He was all state football and basketball player at Franklin High School where he received several scholarships offers to attend college. He chose the University of Virginia where he received a full scholarship and played four years of football and two years of basketball prior to graduating. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions of the NFL but later during pre-season he was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers of the NFL where he played in 1957. In 1958 he played with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played with the Franklin Minors and was chosen athlete of the year by the New Jersey Herald. He later was elected to the Sussex County Hall of Fame. After graduation of college, he was Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant of the US Army, Reserve Officer.
He was a member of the following associations for many years: Sussex County Hall of Fame, West Milford Recreation Coach, NJ Principal Supervision Administration, West Milford Lions Club, Presbyterian Church, Wallkill Golf Club.
After losing his wife, Barbara “Bodle” Gunderman, in 1992, he will finally rest in peace with her. He is predeceased by his siblings Doris Runion, Joyce Ann Worth, Betty Wielechowski and Tom Gunderman.
He is leaving behind his life-long partner Antoinette Muniz of 30 years. He is survived by his brother Edward Gunderman, son Robert Gunderman JR, and his two daughters Melinda Russo and Patty Wood. He leaves seven grandchildren behind: Michael, Bryan, Britney, Chad, Emily, Erica, & Jessica. In addition, he leaves behind six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Richards Funeral Home, 1440 Union Valley Road, West Milford, New Jersey on Saturday, June 8th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
The family requests that all donations please be sent to Presbyterian Church in West Milford or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
