Johnny Lee Ross Jr - May 02, 1960 - May 08, 2024

Departed: 05/08/2024 (Catoosa)
Obituary Preview: Johnny Lee Ross Jr. was born on May 2, 1960, to Mary Alice (Milsap) Ross and Johnny Lee Ross in Tahlequah Oklahoma. During his childhood, John attended many schools as a result of his father being a pipeline welder. John joined the Navy shortly after high school then after several years aboard ship, he joined the Army. He enjoyed his years in the military, but they were cut short due to his first wife's passing. John was then a full-time father. He worked several machining jobs during his lifetime. There are a lot of supervisors through his years of employment that would agree he was a perfect machinist. He machined all kinds of parts during his career, from oilfield to aircraft. Through the years he made things for the people he loved like rings and trinkets. John ended his working years at CRC Evans where he just hit his 14-year mark. John has been recognized several times while employed with CRC for his creative and cost-altering ideas that led to saving the company money and time. John met the love of his life, Carminta, while employed at CRC. He would make it known to everyone he met how important she was to him. After 7 years of dating, John married Carminta on May 28, 2019,in Catoosa Oklahoma. Together with 5 kids in tow they continued to raise a family. John's world was forever changed when they welcomed their first granddaughter. She was the light of his life. They went everywhere together, and everyone knew he was a very proud Grampy. You could see him with her in tow on their weekly trips to Walmart, weekend breakfast dates at Port City Diner, or their many shopping trips. He never missed any of her doctor's appointments, he always said he didn't want her getting shots without her Grampy to kiss the pain away. He was a wonderful stepdad to Carminta's five children, even surprising them with adoption papers. He raised them as his own. He taught them all about cars. Before they were allowed to drive, they all had to know how to change a tire. He taught them how to do their own oil changes and actually rebuilt an engine just so they could see where and how everything went into place.John would take the time every Christmas Eve to tell the Bible story. He found it important to teach the kids to rely heavily on their Lord and Savior. John was a Chrisitan, attending many churches over the years. He was a collector of anything from the military, guns, hunting equipment, The Incredibles, M & M collector items, old magazines, and old machining inspection equipment, some from his grandfather. John enjoyed fishing and was planning to retire with Carminta in Wagoner near their favorite fishing spot. John is survived by his wife, Carminta (Jackson) Ross, their five children, Destiny, Charity, Liberty, Bethany, and Charlie. He also is survived by his children from another marriage, Mike, Jennifer, Tina, and Kristen. 4 sisters Kim, Vicky, Colleen, and Lisa. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Terri, his loving parents, grandparents, and two sisters Ruby and Mary. John leaves behind friends and family that will miss him dearly.

A life well-lived, yet mourned, as he joined his parents Wilbur and Barbara Johnson, and his sisters Mary Vanhusen and Donna Lee Phillips. Harold's journey began in Enterprise, OK, where, as a young child, he discovered the joys of fishing and hunting—passions that would weave seamlessly through the entirety of his life. As a pre-teen he moved to Catoosa, shaping the course of his journey in many ways. On October 15, 1972, Harold united in marriage with the love of his life Carla. Together, in 1973, they embarked on the business venture of C&H Trash, a testament to their shared commitment and dedication. This endeavor continued until Harold's retirement at the age of 62, marking the close of a chapter filled with hard work and shared dedication. He was also a long-time standing member of Gene Autry Lodge #185 which led to him becoming a freeman, 32nd Mason and then eventually an Akdar Shriner. The subsequent years of retirement saw Harold immersed in the serene landscapes of Ft. Gibson Lake and Hulbert, OK, where he pursued his enduring passions for hunting and fishing. Mornings found him savoring the simple pleasures of life, enjoying coffee at McDonald's—a routine that brought him both solace and camaraderie. Vida June Martin - October 04, 1938 - January 17, 2024

Departed: 01/17/2024 (Catoosa)
Obituary Preview: Vida June Martin embarked on her last adventure on January 17, 2024, aged 85. Born on October 4, 1938, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to the late Leroy and Lela Campbell. Vida, known for her quick wit and quicker sewing needle, left us in Tulsa, OK, with a legacy as colorful as the hats she created.Vida's life journey was filled with the kind of stories you'd expect from a woman who watched "Young and the Restless" with the same intensity she applied to her legendary sewing projects. She was her the stitch that held together a bustling household, and though she outlived her husband Virgil “Cigar” Martin, her son Leroy, her daughter Juanita Dodson, her infant son Billy, and her daughter Melinda "Linny" Martin, her love is as enduring as the hats she crafted with such care. She wasn't just a mother to her own seven children; she was the matriarch of a clan that includes 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and a squad of 6 great-great-grandchildren. One grandchild, in particular, had the privilege of being raised by Vida from birth, undoubtedly learning the fine art of snickering at soap operas and appreciating old westerns.Vida's interests were as colorful as her personality. She was a staple at local craft shows, where she sold her creations and traded jokes with anyone within earshot. Family time was her favorite pastime, and she orchestrated vacations with her sisters that were the stuff of legends—partly for the fun they had and partly for the memories they made.Vida's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and the kind of wisdom that can only come from watching soap operas for decades. She was the heart and soul of her family, and her absence will be felt deeply. She taught us that life is a patchwork of moments, some frayed, some perfectly hemmed, but all stitched together with love. So, as we bid farewell to the incomparable Vida June Martin, let's honor her memory by living as she did—with joy, a touch of sass, and the knowledge that at the end of the day, family is the greatest show on earth.
