He is preceded in death by his late sister Donika Merko and his late mother Merjeme Bakalli of Worcester, Mass.  He leaves two sons, Franc Bakalli, Matheus Bakalli, his former wife Nikoleta Bakalli of Winchendon Massachusetts, and his nephew Dorian Merko of Worcester.  He was born in Pogadec, Albania, and arrived in the states in 1999.
Romeo was a customer service attendant at Walmart in Northborough.  He enjoyed helping his friends and loved playing soccer.  He played in the local Worcester World Cup event in the years of 2006-2009 with the Albanian team.

He leaves his wife of 40 years, Claudette J. (Emond) Rice; a sister, Susan Anderson of Phoenix, AZ; four brothers, Mark Rice of Madera, CA, Joseph Rice of Northborough, James Rice of Worcester, and Robert Rice of Whitinsville; several nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of Daniel M. and Rita J. (Pustis) Rice.  He graduated from North High School in Worcester.
Daniel was a firefighter for the City of Worcester, stationed at Park Ave on Engine 4, Ladder 7 and Aerial Scope 3.  He also served on the Sutton Housing Authority and enjoyed beekeeping.

Justin graduated from Burncoat Senior High School in 2008.  He enjoyed writing and studied Communications at Worcester State College, and graduated from Quinsigamond Community College in 2010.  He also attended Fitchburg State University in 2010.

Obituary Preview: WORCESTER – Dr. Jacqueline L. (Lessard) Finn Ed.D., 94, of Worcester, died April 5, 2022, at her home.
Her husband of 56 years, Philip A. Finn, died in 2012.  She is survived by five children: Michele Mills and her husband Robert of Beverly Hills, MI, Christine Knoll-Finn and her wife MJ of Short Hills, NJ, Stephen Finn and his wife Margaret of Arlington, VA, Peter Finn and his wife Carmen of Grafton, and Paul Finn of  Wellfleet; a son-in-law, Paul V. Storey of Chelmsford; sixteen grandchildren, Henry and William Knoll-Finn, Samantha, Peter, Shannon and Brian Brown, and Patrick and Vanessa Storey, Edward and Allie Popovici, Clay, Alyssa and Jared Vest, Emily and Tommy Reller and Colleen Finn, Kevin, Michael, Charlie, and Caroline Finn; three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her daughter, Catherine Finn Storey, and her sister, Madeleine Bouchard, and her brother-in-law, Charles Bouchard of Falmouth.  She was born in Worcester, daughter of Joseph J. and Antoinette (Sancoucy) Lessard.  She graduated from Presentation of Mary Academy, Hudson, NH, in 1945, and Rivier College, Nashua, NH, in 1949.  In both cases, she was class salutatorian.
She started teaching at Thorndike Road School in 1949 and obtained an M.Ed. from Worcester State College in 1951.  After obtaining her M.Ed. she participated in the Russian Studies program at Assumption College without obtaining a degree.  From 1953 to 1956, she worked for the Central Intelligence Agency as an analyst.  She married in 1955 and lived with her growing family in Germany and Italy from 1958 to 1964 where she obtained conversational proficiency in German and fluency in Italian.
After returning to Worcester in 1964, she resumed teaching at Winslow Street School and Nelson Place School.  From 1977 to 1978, she taught and served as director for the Providing Education for Able Kids (PEAK) program.  In 1985, she received her Ed.D. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  Subsequently, she served as an adjunct professor in graduate studies in education at Fitchburg State College, presented at professional conferences in reading and language arts, and published in professional journals.
In retirement, she enjoyed winters in Naples, Florida, and summers in her garden.  She researched the history of the migration of the people of Quebec to central Massachusetts and in 2018 published From Habitants to Immigrants: the Sansoucys, the Harpins, and the Potvins.
She lived life with tremendous purpose and passion, pursuing interests as broad as Ancient Egyptian history, Impressionist painting, and the Civil War and its aftermath. She grabbed hold of every new interest and launched.  But, children and family were the center of her life.  She gave every child in her sphere the gift of literacy.  She showered her grandkids with books and gave her family and colleagues a depth of appreciation for the complexity and joys of children’s literature.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Sofika (Kallfa) Tiko, two sons, Bernardo Tiko of Worcester and Renato Tiko of Worcester, a daughter, Gerta Gjanci of Worcester; five grandchildren, Nikola Gjanci, Steven Gjanci, Kristian Tiko, Sofia Tiko, and David Tiko.  He was born in Korce, Albania, son of Ligor and Dhone (Gjilo) Tiko, and has lived here for over 26 years.  He graduated from the University of Tirana, Albania.
Kristaq was a high school teacher in Albania, teaching biochemistry.  He thoroughly enjoyed teaching.  He was very appreciative of all that the United States had to offer he and his family and was very happy that he decided to immigrate here.
A funeral will be held at 10 :00 am on Friday, April 8, 2022 in St. Mary's Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury St.   Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.  Calling hours will be from 5-7 pm on Thursday, April 7 at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave.

His wife, Felicita Hernandez, died in October, 2021.  He leaves three sons, Andres E. Baez of Worcester, with whom he lived, Nelson Baez of Puerto Rico, and Edwin Baez of Worcester; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  He was one of eight children and is survived by one brother and one sister in Puerto Rico.  He was predeceased by his daughter, Maribel Baez.  He was born in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, son of Andres Baez and Josefa Velez and has lived here since 2013.
Victoriano was a nurse / medic at the V.A. Hospital in San Juan, P.R.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 11:00 am at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave.  Burial with military honors will follow in Hope Cemetery.  Calling hours are Tuesday, April 5 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Obituary Preview: NORTHBOROUGH - Shobha Shastry was born in Mosur, Chennai to CM Krishna Shastri and Shivagami Sundari Iyer.  She is survived by her father CM Krishan Shastri, daughter Shyla Shastry, granddaughter Sahana Sullivan, brother Ravi Shastri, sister-in-law Malathi Shastri, nephew and niece Mahadev and Revathi Shastri respectively.  She is predeceased by her husband Sharad Y. Shastri and her mother Sundari Shastri.  She passed away peacefully on March 23, 2022 in Marlborough, MA.
Shobha’s childhood and youth were highlighted by enjoying life and laughing with friends - charming others with her strong, loving personality.  She was an artistic savant, specifically in painting and drawing.  Her creative genius also manifested itself in the theater, as she cultivated and honed her acting skills, displaying her adept ability to capture an audience and win others over.
At the age of 19, she was engaged to Sharad Y. Shastry of Vellore.  Shobha moved to the United States and married Sharad in Westborough, Massachusetts when she was 24.  Shobha and Sharad were married for 25 amazing years until his untimely passing.
Shobha had numerous achievements but, most notably, was the founder and CEO of Alankar Event Planners and Decorators, providing wedding services, decorations and mandaps in New England for 25 years and helping thousands of couples get married.  She was one of the first female Indian American entrepreneurs in New England and was known for her gold-star service, always fulfilling her commitments to her clients.  In addition, she was a part of many other non-profit organizations such as the Indian Society of Worcester and Tamil Sangam.
The spirit of Shobha could be described in many ways.  She was an inspiration to all with her generosity and her ability to accept everyone as if they were her own.  Shobha was a carefree, fun-loving, selfless, larger-than-life character whose devotion towards others was boundless.  The happiness she brought to everyone was unparalleled and her presence alone could light up an entire room.

Sotiraq was a saddle maker at an equestrian supply company in Albania.  He enjoyed music, playing dominos, and most of all spending his time with family.

Mother of Dawn Marie Hartley (deceased) of Worcester, MA and Shawn Hartley and his partner Nancy Chestna of Worcester, MA, and grandmother to Seth M. Hartley, Woonsocket, RI.
June was free spirited and an avid karaoke buff that loved to sing. She also enjoyed doing arts and crafts, making wreaths for all occasions.  She served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Jackeline loved painting, listening to music, and loved to dance.  She loved to learn of different cultures.  She loved to sing, she was there for people whenever they needed her.  She valued family more than anything, and her three children were everything to her.  She would never hesitate to help people even when she had nothing, she would always manage to provide.  Most of all, she was the most compassionate and strongest woman you could ever meet. She will be truly missed.

Edmonds and John E. Edmonds.  Born in Worcester, the son of the late Elders Mathus and Virginia (Patterson) Edmonds, Peter graduated from North High School in Worcester.
Peter was a store clerk at local gas stations.  He was a member of the Christ Tabernacle Apostolic Church on Main St in Worcester.  He enjoyed tinkering with electronic equipment and advancing his skills with video games.
From the family: We are also proud to give special recognition to Mr. Joseph Morin of Barre, who went far above and beyond proving himself better than a loyal friend to Peter, especially in our brother’s most required times of need.

Evelyn loved dancing and listening to music.  According to her friends – she was the best Salsa dancer around.  She enjoyed being surrounded by her large family.   She was the life of the party and will be deeply missed by all.

Ronald was a computer programmer at Commerce Insurance Company.  He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.   He enjoyed quilting, reading and playing with his grandkids.

Sindoni.  Alessa was born in Boston, daughter of Victor A. and Mary D. (Dunlevy) Sindoni.  She graduated from Brookline High School in 1981 and National Aviation Academy, Clearwater, Florida in 2006.
Alessa was a certified aviation mechanic.  She worked at Lockheed Martin in Marietta, Georgia, building C-130 Hercules aircraft for the military.  She was interested in China and went on an Asia Business Tour with Johnson & Wales University in 2000.  She enjoyed ballet and martial arts and was an avid Dixie Dregs fan.
A truly caring soul, she will be deeply missed by all those she left behind.

Noemi was a factory worker in Puerto Rico.  She enjoyed life and being with her family. She enjoyed jewelry making, cooking and all her plants.
A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Peter’s Church, 929 Main St, Worcester.  Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.  Calling hours are Monday, February 28 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave.
