Obituary Preview: Lavern “Vern” Henry Marquardt, 84, lifelong Lena resident passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024. He was born in Lena on September 15, 1939 to Clarence, Sr. and Ella (Jandrey) Marquardt. Lavern married Pat Sobeck on November 11, 1961 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Lena.
In his younger days Lavern worked at Cruiser Yachts in Oconto, Diana Manufacturing in Green Bay and eventually Lavern found his love for farming. His true passion was dairy farming and planting his crops and watching them grow in his fields. Lavern also loved watching his Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Bucks play.
Lavern will be greatly missed by and loved by his wife Pat, four sons, Terry (Lori) Marquardt, Oconto Falls; Kevin (Chris) Marquardt, Lena; Dean Marquardt, Fond du Lac; Brian Marquardt, Lena; loved by his four grandchildren, Melissa (Aarin) Griese, Matthew, Jessica, and Shane Marquardt and his great-grandchild, Winry; brothers and sisters, Edith (Norman) Walker, Pound; Alvin (Joan) Marquardt, Kelly Lake; Bonnie (Richard) Piontkowski, Marinette; Donna Madsen, Marinette; Clarence, Jr. (Jane) Marquardt, Lena; and Gary Marquardt, Gillett. Lavern is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Dan (Joan) Sobeck and Darrell (Vicki) Sobeck, a sister-in-law, Lois Sobeck and many nieces and nephews. Lavern was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Esther and John Sobeck, a sister, Helen and her husband Carlton Crozier, a godson, Rodney Walker, three brothers-in-law, Lloyd Sobeck, Eugene (Doris) Sobeck, Tom Madsen and a sister-in-law, Joy Marquardt.
The family will greet relatives and friends Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, 438 W. Main Street, Lena from 9 AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 11 AM with Pastor Bill Tisch officiating.

Obituary Preview: Jeffrey (Woody) DeCleene, 66, of Lena passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. He was born on June 7, 1957 in Milwaukee to Tony and Rose (Pelishek) DeCleene.
Jeff enjoyed riding his Harley, restoring his 1970 Buick Gran Sport, and listening to music, especially Tom Petty and John Prine. He loved his Rottweilers, JD, DJ and Sassy.
Jeff is survived by his mother, Rose; brother Steve (Jane) DeCleene, Muskego, WI; sisters, Kathy Powell (Scott Klepp), Wind Lake, WI; Mary (Tony) Creapeau, Gresham, WI; Julie Rehlinger, West Bend, WI; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony DeCleene, brother, Dave DeCleene, brother-in-law, Nick Rehlinger, maternal grandparents, Henry and Martha (Alsteen) Pelishek and paternal grandparents, Anton and Johanna (Reynders) DeCleene.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Lena, from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Father Ben Johnson officiating.

Clement Arthur Harley - March 29, 1925 - November 14, 2023

Obituary Preview: Clement Aurthur Harley, 98, of Lena, passed away November 14, 2023. The son of the late Aurthur and Agnes (Dupuis) Harley was born March 29, 1925, in Milwaukee and shortly after, moved to the Lena area where he was a lifelong resident.
Clem was a 1943 graduate of Lena High School. He enlisted and served 3 years in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After his discharge he worked as a carpenter and spent three years sailing the Great Lakes, working on the Ore boats. He then was employed as a pipe fitter at Scott Paper in Oconto Falls for 31 years until his retirement in 1985.
Clem married Jean Van Hefty on June 12, 1954, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Oconto. She preceded him in death on November 8, 2007. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Parish, Lena American Legion Post #342 and the 5 Corners Sportsmen Club.
Clem is survived by his four children; William (Marlene) Harley, Mt. Horeb, WI, Linda Harley, Green Bay, WI, Gary (Roberta) Harley, rural Lena, Lori (Lupe) Valenzuela of Broomfield, CO; grandson; Robert C. (Sara) Harley, granddaughter; Dana Heise, great grandson; Kayden Watts and four step grandchildren; Robert, Rachel, Jeff, and Jarrod.
Besides his wife, Jean he was preceded in death by his two sisters; Audrey (Bill) Teteak, and Patricia (Gordon) Hebert.
Clem especially loved being “Up north at the Shack” on the Brule River where he spent many happy years fishing and hunting while gathering with family and friends. He was also an avid gardener and a very capable “Mr. Fix-it”.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Anne Catholic Parish in Lena, 221 E Main St. from 9:00 A.M until 11:00 A.M Tuesday, November 21, 2023. A Funeral Mass with the urn present will begin at 11:00 A.M with Rev. Ben Johnson and Deacon Peter Gard officiating. Full Navy Military Honors will follow the Mass.
The family would like to express gratitude to Dr. Riedy and Dr. Shaw along with the 3rd floor ICU staff at Aurora Bay Care for their kindness and care of our dad. To Craig and Michelle Simonson, we cannot thank you enough for all the neighborly support and concern that you have shown our dad over the years. We would like to thank Becky and Kathie for their personal home healthcare touch which enabled him to stay at home.

Obituary Preview: Claraine Hermersmann, 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2023. She was born in Chicago, IL on September 10, 1944, to the late William and Claraine (Burholzer) Knaack.
Claraine moved with her family to Wisconsin as a child, she was a true animal lover. As a child she had 500 baby chicks to take care of. Claraine loved the dogs and cats she has had over the years, most recently Ruby, E.T. and Teddy. She also really enjoyed fishing and would fish any chance she got. Claraine was a world traveler who enjoyed trips to Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Thailand, and many more. She also loved music and attended many concerts.
She is survived by her son Jeff (Bobbie) Hermersmann; daughter Carol Hudy; sisters Susanne (Ken) Simpson, Pam Nygaard; brother Bill Knaack; grandchildren Braxton, Branik, and Brance; special friend Eric Muehl; along with many nieces and nephews who she has shared many great times.
Preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband and friend Wally Hermersmann; sister Diane Stichman; and infant daughter Christine.
A special thank you to the Moments Hospice for their loving care of Claraine.

Walter "Wally" Hermersmann - January 18, 1937 - October 17, 2023

Obituary Preview: Walter “Wally” Hermersmann, 86, of Lena passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. He was born in Milwaukee, WI on January 18, 1937, to the late Arthur and Alice Hermersmann.
Wally loved Indy Car racing and attended many Indy 500’s. Wally enjoyed hunting and telling stories about all the fun he had in his life. He was a meat cutter at Patrick Cudahy in Milwaukee, but after years of visiting “up north”, Wally moved to Lena in 2001. He enjoyed his “social time” at Pelkins/Mursau's Piggly Wiggly in Coleman. making friends there and enjoyed talking his way through the store. Wally also enjoyed talking about anything “Ford” to anyone who would listen. He was also drafted in the United States Army in 1957 serving for two years where he was an expert marksman.
Surviving Walter is his ex-wife and friend Claraine; son Jeff (Bobbie) Hermersmann; stepdaughter Carol Hudy; brother George (Sue) Hermersmann; sister Darlene (Chuck) Naidal; sister-in-law Judy Hermersmann; grandchildren Braxton, Branik and Brance; along with many nieces and nephews who he has shared great times with. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jerome Hermersmann, Kenneth Hermersmann, Ronald Hermersmann; and sister Carol Gimler
A “Celebration of Life” for Wally will be held at McGuire’s Sports Bar in Lena (211 S. Rosera Street) from 12pm - 3pm, Saturday October 28, 2023, with Military Honors at 1pm.

Ursula Carriveau - July 23, 1946 - October 11, 2023

Obituary Preview: Ursula Carriveau, 77, of Lena, left us to rest in peace, on October 11, 2023. Ursula was born in Borzykowo, Poland on July 23, 1946, daughter of Florian and Sabina (Musznska) Pietryga.
In August, 1976, Ursula traveled to the United States with her two young children, Peter and Aneta, working very hard to build a better life.
Through the years, she worked at various factory jobs around the area. Later in life, she was happy caring for the elderly while giving them the gift of remaining in their homes and enjoying her company.
On April 7, 1978, she married her loving husband of 45 years, Bob Carriveau in Menominee, MI.
Ursula loved her dog, Layla, gardening, fishing, the beach, travel and the occasional visit to the casino. She wore a bright smile when she won. She also enjoyed swimming at the Bond Center with Diane Netzer and Sandy Misco.
Ursula is survived by her husband, Bob; her children, Peter and wife, Vicky Vandehei, Aneta and partner, Jim Johnson and stepson, Bruce Carriveau (Jennifer); her step-grandchildren, Nicholas Ridderbush, (Amber Lindstrum), Shelby (Krishna) Anumandla, Ryan Carriveau (Molly), Rachael Olinger (Jared), and Rebecca Isaacson (Brady). She is further survived by her sister, Zofia Narozna, sister-in-law, Wieslawa Pietryga, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ireneusz 'Henry' Pietryga and brother-in-law, Stanley Narozna.
Friends will gather to celebrate her life at a later date.
Ursula will best remembered for her vibrant personality and bright smile.

Russell G. Glime - October 07, 1947 - September 02, 2023

Obituary Preview: Russell George Glime, 75, passed peacefully on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at his home in Lena, Wisconsin. Russ’s passing was unexpected, and his family is deeply saddened by his loss.
Russ was born in Lena on October 7, 1947, to the late George and Marion (Blahnik) Glime. He graduated from Lena High School in 1965. Russ attended NWTC where he earned an associate degree in civil technology. He was a talented, hardworking man who worked as an engineering specialist for the Wisconsin DOT for 35.5 years. He continued his engineer work after retirement as a consultant for DAAR Engineering for many years.
Russ loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, siblings, friends and family. In his free time he enjoyed deer hunting, playing cards, fishing, telling jokes and four-wheeling. He enjoyed traveling whenever he had the opportunity. He especially enjoyed spending time at the shack in Silver Cliff. He was an avid Packer and Badgers fan. He donated his time to scan tickets at home Packer games. Russ’s greatest joy of all however was spending time with four beautiful grandchildren. He was always there for them and never missed a school event or any activities that they were involved in.
Russ was an excellent father, grandfather, brother and friend. He had a big heart, a kind smile, a quick wit, and an amazing sense of humor. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. Russ had a special personality that brought out the best in everyone around him. He will be missed in everyone’s heart and lives.
Russ was a huge part of the Lena community and served in many ways. He belonged to St. Anne Parish in Lena and was a 15 year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was a member of the Lena Lions for 10 years where he served as secretary, Dairy fest dual chair, fish fry chair, and raffle chair. Russ was also a member of the Lena Knights of Columbus for 8 years where he served as Grand Knight, Deputy Grand Knight, and Recorder.
Survivors include his ex-wife; Bonnie Ermis, Arizona, sons; Michael (Samantha), Green Bay, Marc (April), Lena, and Rhett, Lena. Grandchildren; Hannah, Holland, Alexis, Everett. He is further survived by his four brothers; Robert (Sandra) Glime, Green Bay; Thomas (Patricia) Glime, Florida; Richard (Mary Ann) Glime, Wisconsin Dells; David (Colleen) Glime, Peshtigo; three sisters; Mary (Kenneth) Koslowsky, Coleman; Barbara (Gary) Vorpahl, Fort Atkinson; Julie (Douglas) Aubry, Lena; sister-in-law; DeAnne Glime, Florida; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; George and Marion (Blahnik) Glime, 2 brothers; Joseph and Roger Glime, niece; Stacy Vorpahl.
Friends may call at St. Anne’s Parish in Lena on Saturday. September 16, 2023. Services will include a visitation from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM Noon, followed by a mass of Christian burial beginning at noon with Fr. Ben Johnson officiating. A meal will be served at St. Anne’s Parish Hall following the services.

She was born on April 27, 1938 in Lena, WI to the late William and Elva (Buchberger) Teteak. On September 3, 1966 Connie was united in marriage to Thomas Strom at St. Charles Catholic Church in Lena.
She was employed at Frigo Cheese and worked at UWGB until 2000. Connie was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Crivitz. In her free time she enjoyed shopping, sending greeting cards, golfing, bowling, playing cards, watching Brewer games, and spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending winters with her Florida family.
Connie will be deeply missed by her two sons; Bill (Andrea Konop), Cory (Kim Konop), seven grandchildren; Courtney, Connor, Cade, Olivia, Sophia, Ava and Henry. Many nieces and nephews, and her beloved canine companion; Louie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, granddaughter; Grace, siblings; Bill Teteak, Mavis Neta, Annette Tonn, sister-in-law; Audrey Teteak, brother-in-law’s; Ray Neta, Mike Tonn, three nieces; Janice, Jackie and Gail and her furry companions, especially Winston.
Family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church-Lena from 9:00 A.M until time of the Funeral Mass. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M at the church with Father Ben Johnson and Deacon Peter Gard to officiate. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Lena immediately following the mass.

Stephen was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, working in his garage, woodworking, and driving his Corvette. He was extremely loving and caring, and spending time with his family was what mattered most to him. He took pride in his wordsmithing, both professionally and creatively, and was very dedicated and passionate in his career, striving to make a difference.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pati Felter; his daughters, Malinda (Shaun) Wisniewski, Tammy (Dwayne) Reese, and Shannon (Tyler) Schmit; his grandchildren, Bryson Mazur, Kayden Wisniewski, Avaya Reese, Brennen Wisniewski, Arlis Reese, Madden Schmit, and Beckam Schmit; his brothers and sisters, Edward Felter (Joanne), Richard Felter, Tommie White, Linda Dickinson Finch, and David Snyder; and many nephews, nieces, other relatives, extended family, and friends whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Charles Snyder, his brothers Michael White and Bruce Felter, and his sister Lorena Clark.

William "Bill" Kramer - October 29, 1948 - April 16, 2023

Obituary Preview: William “Bill” Kramer, 74, of Lena, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 16, 2023. He was born on October 29, 1948 to the late Anthony and Norma (Lorang) Kramer. He served his country by enlisting in the United States Army shortly after High School. William was united in marriage to Connie Beulow on April 16, 1977. She preceded him in death on January 28, 2013.
Bill enjoyed playing softball in his younger years, fishing, hunting and trap shooting. He loved spending time at the cabin with Connie, the dogs, family and friends. He will be remembered greatly for his wonderful gardening skills.
Bill proudly served for the Lena Fire Department for 39 years.
Survivors include his sister; Marsha Kramer, brothers; John (Suzanne) Kramer, Paul (Jodean) Kramer, several nieces and many many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Connie, parents, brother; Mark Kramer, and brother-in-law; Don Groh.
Family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 for visitation from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home 438 W. Main St. Lena.
Visitation will continue on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church 221 E. Main St. Lena. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM at the church with Father Felix Abano officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral at St. Charles Cemetery, Lena with Military Honors to follow. A luncheon will be held at the church.

Robert "Bob" Blazek - June 27, 1933 - March 10, 2023

Obituary Preview: Robert “Bob” Blazek, age 89, of Spruce passed away Friday March 10th at Meadowbrook nursing home in Oconto Falls with family by his side. He was born in the town of Spruce, son of the late Antone and Lucille (Phillips) Blazek. He graduated from Oconto Falls with the class of ‘51. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 - 1957. In 1958, Robert married Vivian Pelishek and spent their entire marriage living in Spruce.
He worked 32 years for the Oconto County Highway Department, where he was a mechanic and shop foreman. Bob and his wife also ran a bait shop for many years.
Bob enjoyed many things that involved the outdoors. For many years, Bob would go up to Canada and fish with his family and friends. The thing he enjoyed most was teaching his granddaughters how to fish. Bob also enjoyed trapping fox, hunting, and working on his garden during the summer months. He would spend most of his days puttering in his shop, fixing machinery, and woodworking. He also played baseball in his early years until adulthood. In his later years, he enjoyed watching the Brewers and even got to go see them play in person. Bob enjoyed looking at pictures of his Air Force days and frequently talked about it. He enjoyed going to his Air Force reunions to see old friends. Bob was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Doney Dugrave post 342. But his most favorite past-time was spending time with his grandkids.
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Vivian; His 2 sons: Sam Blazek of Spruce and Eric (Paula) Blazek of Lena; 4 grandchildren: Elizabeth (Nick) Saari, Holly (Tyler) Marquardt, Morgan (boyfriend Mason) Blazek, and Luke Blazek; 1 great-grandchild: Levi Saari and 1 on the way; 1 brother: Antone “Tony” Jr.; 2 sisters: Patsy Swenty and Connie (Ed) Stodola; 2 sister-in-laws: Rose Decleene and Orianne Swim; 1 brother-in-law Walter (Cleo) Pelishek. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brother-in-laws: Delores (Gene) Rice and Shirley (John) Oleck; 1 brother William “Bill” Blazek; 3 brother-in-laws: Leroy Swenty, Tony Decleene and LeRoy Swim; His in laws Henry and Martha Pelishek.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Lena on Wednesday March 15th from 9-11AM. The Funeral Mass is at 11AM with Father Nonito Barra and Deacon Peter Gard officiating with Military Rites to follow. Bob will be laid to rest at St. Charles Cemetery at a later date.

Obituary Preview: Vernon (Vern) Leisch, 83 passed away on March 10, 2023. He was born July 14, 1939, to Ralph and Florella Leisch. Vern graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1957. He married Sandra Westenberger on January 6, 1962, at St. John's Catholic Church in Gillett. They celebrated 61 years of marriage. Vern retired from Ft. Howard/Ft. James in 1999. He worked in Mechanical Maintenance at the Ft. Howard Mill for 34 years.
Vern is survived by his wife Sandra; one daughter Sue (Mike) Whitmer; Grandsons Cody Davidson and Dillon (Jordan) Davidson. He is also survived by his brothers Tom (Sandy) Leisch, Michael (Penny) Leisch, and sisters Marilynn Leisch, Karen MacLeish, Linda Leisch, brother-in-law Sherban (Judy) Westenberger, sister-in-Law Mary Leisch and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Bill and daughter Sharon Davidson.
Visitation with cremains will be at St. Anne’s Catholic Church (221 W. Main St, Lena WI 54139) from 9am until 11am until the time of service at 11am.
Burial will be at the Town of Spruce Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Mary Ann Schlosser, 69, passed away peacefully March 1, 2023 at her home in Lena, WI. She was born August 25, 1953 to the late George and Dorothy (Ellman) Schlosser. In her earlier years Mary was a 4-H Leader for the Lena Rocketeers. She faithfully helped out in the 4-H food stand and never missed a chance to watch family show at the local County Fair. She also enjoyed attending local sporting events that her family played in.
Mary enjoyed the Brewers and attending games with family. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and family, crocheting, gardening and canning. Mary was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was active with the Ladies Aide.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Bradley) Brown, Fernandina Beach, FL, siblings, Marlene (Jerry) Mann, Washington Island, WI, James (Marcia) Schlosser, Lena, WI, Janet (James) Peters, Green Bay, WI. Donna was born Jan. 13, 1969 in Oconto Falls to the late Melvin and Janet (Valenta) Haffeman who lived by Kelly Lake and later moved to Lena.
Donna's love of her life Peter Guth preceded her in death along with their family dog Willie.
Donna worked as a waitress at Graffs, Fred's Pizza, Perkins, Apple Bee's, Olive Garden, Grazies and Parker John Restaurants. She made a positive, heartwarming, understanding connection with everyone she met. Donna's strong faith in Jesus Christ glowed as it would not be unusual for customers to ask to pray with her.
Donna had a bachelor's degree in human development. She had a love of music which she sang and danced to at every opportunity. Her favorite music was Christian music. In high school Donna was first chair plaving flute. When a song came on that brought a memory or about something or someone, she'd send them the tune expressing what the song meant to
her.
Donna was a bundle of energy. She would run with Griffin everyday in the woods and trails. One of her passions was reading and watching articles, books, and documentaries on Jesus Christ. She loved watching the series The Chosen and couldn't wait to watch over and over again. She cherished time with her family and checking in daily with her sister Cheryl and friend Katie. She was born July 27, 1932 to Stanley and Gertrude (Krueger) Garrigan. She graduated from Lena High School in 1949 and married Chester (Chub) Shallow in 1953. He preceded her in death in 2012.
Joyce loved her music and learned to play instruments “by ear”. She played accordion, piano, harmonica, hum-strum, and spoons and provided entertainment for family and friends. She worked as secretary for the Lena veterinarians for over 50 years.
Joyce bowled for over 40 years, played softball with her daughters and enjoyed various sports teams; Bucks, Brewers, Packers and Badgers. She attended many grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include 5 children; Judy Allan (friend Mike Schmidt) of Kelly Lake, Keith (Lynn) Shallow of Kelly Lake, Janet (Stanley) Cook of Lena, Peggy (Billy) Belongia of Fond du Lac, Kevin (Sherrie) Shallow of Oconto Falls, sister; Kate (Ken) Cisar of Oconto, sister in law; Sharon Garrigan of Lena. Her pride and joy are her 22 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings; Evelyn Durr, Doris Reif, Eileen Reed, Stanley Jr., Betty Schenk, Harley, James, and Harvey (Mick) Garrigan.
Joyce was proud of her Irish heritage and wore her Kelly Green proudly. All are welcome to wear some green or shamrock in her memory to her funeral service.
Pall Bearers are her 7 grandsons; Trent Allan, Nathan and Casey Cook, Bengie Belongia, Andy Shallow, Kaleb and Shea Shallow.
Visitation for Joyce will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022 at St. Anne Parish 221 E. Main St. Lena, WI from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A Funeral mass will follow at the church beginning at 11:00 AM with Father Felix Abano officiating.

While in service, John played in the U.S. Army band and was proud to have played for President John Kennedy’s inauguration. On Aug 27, 1969, John was united in marriage to Mary Becher at St John Church in Seymour. Together they have enjoyed more than 53 years together. John was a lifelong musician and began his career in his uncle’s orchestra; the Joe Valenta Orchestra. He went on to play in the Dick Rodgers Orchestra for 18 years and made many television appearances with them. John also played in the Fritz Willfahrt Orchestra as well as the Don Schlies Orchestra and assisted with other orchestras through the years. He retired in 2019 due to illness from the Valenta Orchestra. In his free time, John enjoyed spending time with his family, playing music, gardening and watching the birds.
John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary; three children and their spouses, John (Mindy) Valenta, Oconto, Catherine (Takashi) Momma, Sheboygan, and Karen (David) Slempkes, Lena; seven grandchildren, Sharayah, Alec, Marisa, Kendra, Logan, Akira and Takumi; a great-granddaughter, Cecelia; seven siblings, Joanne Valenta, Julia Linzmeyer, Allen (Sharon) Valenta, Don (Cathy) Valenta, Sharon Schroth, Connie (Rick) Broderick, Cindy (Dan) Nickels; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She preceded him in death in 1990. Grant was a member of the Calumet Lodge #716 in Blue Island, Illinois since 1953. He was also a past member of the American Legion as well as the VFW. In his free time, Grant enjoyed gardening, his hobby farm, hunting and fishing. He was an active gardener until he was 90 years old. Grant especially treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren. Whether it be fishing or just going to Dairy Queen for a treat.

Leonard worked in the maintenance department at Frigo Cheese in Lena, WI as well as provided maintenance service for various Frigo plants around the country for a total of 40 years. Everyone that knew Leonard called him “the guy who could fix anything.” He loved to tinker with his tractors and loved to farm and work in the fields. Leonard had a love for gardening, especially his potatoes and sweet corn. In Leonard’s golden years, he enjoyed traveling to local casinos with his wife, Sis, and close friends. His pride and joy were his sons and his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Sis and their two sons, John (Susan) Magee, Joe (Vickie) Magee; nine grandchildren, Amber, Zachary, Josh (Stephanie), Valerie, Bailey, Autumn, Lydia, Aspen, Ava; three great-grandchildren, Ryder, Riley, and Lennon; his brothers and sisters, Wayne Magee, Gerald Magee, Joyce Dufek, Delores Pashek, Lorna Maedke, Doreen Dietrich; a sister- in-law; Joyce Gilligan; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Following graduation, she moved to Milwaukee to work at a defense company. Later, she went to work at the Wisconsin Telephone Company where she worked for 37 years before retiring in 1982.
She married the love of her life, Melvin Kobes, in Lena, Wisconsin, on October 3, 1959. Manny and Mel were bigger than life and a room would just light up when they walked in.
Manny is survived by her sister Charity “Cherry” (Charles) Kroeger and special niece Dolores “Lala” Redding Hanson. Manny is also survived by her seven godchildren, William Kramer, Terry Kramer, Kevin Severa, Heidi Vander Zande, Jeff Piper, Bill Moore and Jamie (St. Louis) Weigelt; as well as dozens and dozens of other nieces and nephews who all loved their Aunt Manny.
