She loved Jesus, family, friends, and her country and was not shy about discussing all of them. She was a member of the Collinsville Baptist Tabernacle for many years and served in many capacities including providing countless covered dishes for church gatherings. Mary was known to provide meals, transportation and comfort to the "old people" in the community, many of whom were younger than she was. She loved sports, especially college football and rarely missed an OU or OSU game. She enjoyed gardening and was proud of the many different flowers in her front yard. She was a great cook and cooked her own meals until this last year when daughter-in-law, Ellen, took over the cooking and her care. Mary Helen Gatzemeyer - April 20, 1947 - January 01, 2022

Departed: 01/01/2022 (Collinsville)
Obituary Preview: “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” Winnie the Pooh
Today we say goodbye to our beloved Mary Helen Gatzemeyer. After a two and a half year battle, she entered eternity on January 1, 2022 from complications of ovarian cancer. She was born in Lyons, Nebraska on April 20, 1947 to the late Dale and Jane Bring. She was the oldest of seven children, the late John Bring, Joel (Janice) Bring, Jeff (Becky) Bring, Nancy (Lester) Kiefer, Beth (Joe) Carter, and Jerry (Michelle) Bring.
She was brought up in a strong Catholic family, and how wonderful that the first time she caught the eye of Tim Gatzemeyer was during Sunday mass! During their 55 years of marriage, they raised eight children: Debra (David) Vavra, Thomas (Petra) Gatzemeyer, Tyler (Meredith) Gatzemeyer, Sheila (Travis) Nester, Jennifer (Jonathon) Glassburn, Travis (Brandi) Gatzemeyer, Sherri (Abel) Medina, and Scott (Brook) Gatzemeyer. Through them, she received the blessing of 18 grandchildren and 2 and a half great-grandchildren: Andrew, Austin, Trey (Sarah), Adrienne, Sidney, Dylan, Cassidy, Kimberly, Kaitlyn, Nicholas, Hayden, Jackson, Amy, Olivia, London, Gavin, Aubrey, Cash, Elliot, Braxton, and little Khloe due in February.
Many people know that Mary enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, raising and showing animals, and traveling with Tim. But few may know that she was once a nationally ranked snowmobile racer, nurse's aide, and volunteer EMT. She was an office manager for a travel agency, veterinary clinic, and a RV campground. She started a country school board, 4H club, and a Pony of the Americas (POA) club for the state of Nebraska. Oftentimes, she did all this while running the family farm and raising her children.
Her leadership overflowed into her devotion to the church as well. She was an active member of the altar society, singer in the church choir, auctioneer at fundraisers, teacher of religious classes, and manager of the religious articles department. For her parish, she also used her talents to give handmade blankets to newborns, rosaries to new brides, and prayer shawls to the sick. Mary’s family is a circle of strength and love. Each birth and every union the circle grows. Every joy shared adds more love. Every crisis faced together makes the circle stronger. #GatzemeyerStrong To view the funeral on Saturday, January 8th at 10am: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2ujr1?u=https- 3A www.facebook.com stthereseok videos &d=DWIDaQ&c=UCja3IwhyjPGYeHcG7oIbg&r=msnwev7SwTgCFUaI3ZMrH1MGudPhBsyvgtSE44JGfRc&m=NB95 44-iBSZKwtAwmcC4ktcqBnG5cHSK21LdpiGLKGgnKOEZckCpv59JY8Vhzye&s=80xIRpFscDCWNXnFSc6NOhrdBu-JjNC-UC-g9RtkM&e=1

Maggie was born at home in Nofire Hollow to Otter and Elsie Nofire. She was the last of her siblings to pass on. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dan, Steve, and Bud, and sisters Dora Mae, Jane, Ann, and Fannie.
Maggie was a self taught woman in many ways in life. She learned to speak the English language entirely on her own, listening to English speakers and their actions and making the connection between the two.
Her first and preferred language was Tsalagi or Cherokee. She also taught the language to many eager students over a span of many years. The Cherokee language was a continuing passion for Maggie and she felt a great sorrow for its loss among the Cherokee people.
Maggie was the widow of Andy Studie, with whom she had four sons. Wesley, Andy Lee, Bobby Lee, and Calvin Studie. Maggie and Andy made a life for their family working on ranches and farms on the far western reaches of Cherokee Nation and came to rest in Collinsville, Okla. While there they developed their favorite project of teaching the sons music while they were still in school. The boys formed a rock n roll band. Andy Senior became their manager and Maggie became a Rock n Roll Mom as they traveled from one band engagement to the next throughout eastern Oklahoma.
Maggie was also an environmental activist, taking part in the successful protest of the planned Blackfox nuclear plant near Inola Okla and subsequent demonstration in Washington DC. She breathed a sigh of relief and thanked The Creator when plans for the nuclear plant were shelved. She held a firm belief that as long as we as people were truthful, honest, and cared for others, Creator would help and take care of the rest.
Maggie was predeceased by her husband, Andy Studie, her son Calvin, her parents and siblings.
She is survived by her sons Wesley Studie (Maura Dhu), Andy Lee Studie (Karla Reynolds), Bob L. Studie and grandchildren Daniel Studie, Adam Studie, Leah Studie, Bradley Studie, Marsha Studie, Dionne Studie, Chelsea Studie and Kholan Studie and many great grandchildren.

Hazel Ruth Brewer - July 11, 1936 - July 20, 2021

Departed: 07/20/2021 (Collinsville)
Obituary Preview: What a life she lived…
Hazel Ruth Brewer, 85, died peacefully at home in Oologah with family by her side July 20, 2021.
Hazel was born July 11, 1936, in Westville, OK to James Mack Golden and Rosie Bell Golden.  She was one of six children and remained close to her siblings throughout her life.
At the age of 20, Hazel met and married Doyle “Dub” Brewer.    The two of them were married for nearly 55 years prior to his passing in 2010. They spent their years together in Oologah, Oklahoma where they raised their four children and built their family home. While raising her kids and taking care of Dub, she spent over 20 years working for Murphy’s Safety Switch in Tulsa. Hazel eventually left Murphy’s to help Dub manage their business, Brewer Oil.
With the arrival of her grandchildren, Hazel became known as “Granny”.  Granny’s house was full of  family and friends at any given time.   Hazel loved to cook and bake.  She considered everyone a  friend,  they were all invited into her home, and never left hungry!  If you knew Hazel, you also knew there was no pie better than hers.   She put a lot of love and many hours into baking pies, and they are legendary.
Hazel’s kids and grandkids were always her priority, but she did contribute her time to others.  She was a member and President of the Ladies Auxiliary Club at The American Legion Post #141 in Claremore, OK. For many years she was also a member of the Elks Lodge also in Claremore. Hazel met many of her lifelong friends at these social clubs. Anyone who knows her can tell you how much she loved to dance!  Her energy was endless and she would dance until the band stopped playing. Not many people could keep up with her. As Casinos began to open in Claremore, you were more likely to find Hazel at a slot machine than on the dance floor. She loved going to “play”. Nobody really knows how much she actually spent to “win’” but winning or losing, she was having a blast.
Over the years she faced a lot of pain. Losing her youngest son, Tracy, when he was just 23 years old, was devastating for her. She also fought a battle with breast cancer. Hazel was a survivor though, and never lost her love for life or her amazing sense of humor. She was always more concerned with the happiness of others than her own. There was never a day where she put herself ahead of anyone else and that will always  be remembered by all who were  loved by her.
Thank you Granny for the memories you have left us with. You will never be forgotten and we know that you will never stop watching over all of us.
Hazel was preceded in death by: Her Husband, Doyle Brewer; Son, Tracy  Brewer; Brother, Delbert Golden; Brother J.D. Golden; Sister Bonnie Ewton and Sister Barbara Winn.
Hazel is survived by: Her Brother, Billy  Golden of Claremore; Son, Rick Brewer  of Grove; Son Joey Brewer of Oologan; Daughter, Janice Brewer-Booren of Denver; Four Granddaughters and Six Great-Grandchildren.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries play a significant role in honoring the life of the deceased, providing closure for those who are grieving, and serving as a historical record of the person's life. They also help to inform others of the passing and provide details about funeral services or memorial events.

Who typically writes an obituary?

The task of writing an obituary usually falls on the family members or close friends of the deceased. In some cases, a funeral home or crematorium may offer assistance with writing and publishing the obituary.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. It may also include details about funeral services, memorials, or charitable donations.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or online platform. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from 100 to 500 words.

What is the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

A death notice is a brief announcement of a person's passing, usually including only the basic facts such as name, age, and date of death. An obituary, on the other hand, provides more detailed information about the person's life and legacy.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications and online platforms allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can be a meaningful way to personalize the tribute and help others remember the deceased.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper or online platform?

The submission process varies depending on the publication or platform. You may need to fill out an online form, email the obituary to a specific address, or contact a funeral home for assistance.

How much does it cost to publish an obituary?

The cost of publishing an obituary varies widely depending on the publication, word count, and any additional features such as photos or online links. Expect to pay anywhere from $50 to several hundred dollars.

Can I write my own obituary in advance?

Yes, it is becoming increasingly common for people to write their own obituaries in advance. This can be a therapeutic exercise in reflecting on one's life and legacy.

What if I want to keep the obituary private?

If you prefer not to make the obituary publicly available, you can choose to share it only with close friends and family through private channels such as email or social media groups.

Can I include humorous or personal anecdotes in an obituary?

Absolutely! Obituaries are meant to celebrate the person's life and personality. Including lighthearted or touching stories can help make the tribute more relatable and memorable.

How do I handle sensitive or difficult information in an obituary?

If there are sensitive or difficult aspects of the person's life that you're unsure how to address in the obituary, consider consulting with other family members or close friends for guidance.

What if I need to make corrections to an already published obituary?

Contact the publication or online platform where the obituary was published and provide them with the corrected information. They will typically make the necessary changes as soon as possible.

Can I republish an obituary at a later date?

Yes, you can republish an obituary on significant dates such as anniversaries or birthdays. This can serve as a way to continue honoring the person's memory over time.

Are there any specific guidelines for writing an obituary for someone who was young or died unexpectedly?

When writing an obituary for someone who died young or unexpectedly, it's essential to be sensitive to the emotional impact on those who are grieving. Focus on celebrating their life and accomplishments rather than dwelling on the circumstances of their passing.

How do I find inspiration for writing an obituary?

You can draw inspiration from memories of the person, conversations with others who knew them, and even social media profiles or other online tributes.

Can I include quotes or lyrics in an obituary?

Absolutely! Including meaningful quotes or song lyrics can add depth and personality to the obituary.

What if I'm struggling to write an obituary due to grief or emotional distress?

Don't hesitate to reach out to a trusted friend, family member, or professional counselor for support. They can help you process your emotions and find the words to honor your loved one.

Can I use an online template or example as a guide for writing an obituary?

Yes, there are many online resources that provide templates and examples to help guide you in writing an obituary. These can be especially helpful if you're feeling overwhelmed or unsure where to start.

How do I ensure that an online obituary remains accessible over time?

Can I include information about memorial donations or charity contributions in an obituary?

Absolutely! Including information about memorial donations or charity contributions can be a meaningful way to continue honoring the person's legacy beyond their passing.

What if I want to create a more extensive tribute beyond a traditional obituary?

You may consider creating a memorial website, blog, or social media page dedicated to sharing stories, photos, and memories of your loved one. This can serve as a lasting tribute and provide comfort to those who are grieving.

How do I cope with reading multiple obituaries for loved ones who have passed away?

Losing multiple loved ones can be emotionally overwhelming. Consider reaching out to support groups or counseling services that specialize in grief support. Remembering happy memories and celebrating their lives can also help you navigate this difficult time.
