Roger was born on January 5, 1951 in Honolulu, HI and lived much of his life in Corpus Christi, TX.  He was a PROUD alumnus of Mary Carroll High School, Class of 1969.  Roger started work at Gulf Star Foundry, where he met his former wife, Susie, and his beloved family was created soon after.  He went on to work for many refineries, retiring from Koch Refinery in 1997.
Roger always made sure his family had things to do when he was off work.  The immediate family spent lots of time at hunting leases, lakes, and beaches.  Roger prided himself on having the newest toys for ALL to play with.  He wanted everyone to take turns tubing or skiing behind the boat or taking a spin on the jet ski.  You could always find Roger behind the wheel with a smile on his face as the wind blew through his hair!  After retirement, he spent the majority of his time taking care of his treasured grandchildren as much as he could.
His kind and bright spirit will be remembered by all those whose lives he touched.
In lieu of services, the family asks that friends of Roger pop a top and celebrate his life in their own way. Guestbook available online at www.resthavenfunerals.com

James Lee Giyer - September 10, 1945 - January 29, 2022

Departed: 01/29/2022 (Aransas Pass)
Obituary Preview: James Lee Giyer
James Lee Giyer entered heaven on January 29, 2022.  He was born on September 10, 1945, to Clifford Leroy Giyer and Doris Jeweldene Austin in Miami, OK, while his father was serving in the U. S. Army.  He joined his older brother, Gary Douglas Giyer.  The family moved to California, where they settled in the northern part of the state.  The family grew by one more when Carole was born on New Years Day.  Jim grew up in Yreka, CA.  He worked in his father’s service station from about 11 years old and mowed lawns for extra spending money. He excelled in gymnastics and set records for the rope climb competition. After graduation from Yreka HS, he attended Siskiyou Community College.   He transferred to Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO, obtained two degrees, and was ordained to the ministry.  During his studies he met and married Carolyn Kelso.  Before long they were blessed with a daughter, Angela, and then a son, Jeffery.
After the separation from his wife, Carolyn, he met and married Sharon Harlin and was again blessed with a bonus daughter, Damaris, who was three when they relocated to Fairbanks, Alaska.  Jim was a talented mechanic and worked in that community for 23 years, achieving recognition in ASCE Master Technician Certifications and was acknowledged for his exceptional ability.  Jim was able to adopt his new daughter; however, his wife was afflicted with MS and required extraordinary care for several years before passing away in 2002.  He chose to return to California to care for his ailing parents in 2003.
A happy circumstance led to the marriage with Anna Lorraine (Lori) in 2007, and the couple were able to return to the Coastal Bend area, working on property Lori owned and building a solid family life among the children from both for the past 15 years.  When a sudden stroke incapacitated his stepdaughter, Victoria, and left her one year old son without parents, Jim insisted on bringing her home and provided the loving care he exhibited with his wife, Sharon.  He has been the doting guardian for Mikey since that time.
His passing has created a hole in the hearts of all his children, his many grandchildren and his great-grandchildren, who love and miss him.
