Bill Peterson - June 15, 1948 - May 07, 2024

Departed: 05/07/2024 (Osborne)
Obituary Preview: Billy Carrol Peterson, Sr after a 28 year battle of Parkinson’s Disease, got to talk clearly, laugh freely, and walk easily without pain as he met his Lord and Savior on May 7, 2024.
Bill Peterson was born on June 15, 1948 in Alton, Kansas to Carol and Marie Peterson. He grew up as a farmer’s boy spending time at the creek, swimming and fishing. Not being much into sports, he delved into hunting and fishing very young and had a love of the outdoors. He passed these loves onto his children and grandchildren later on.
He attended a rural Alton elementary school, then later Alton Elementary and graduated from Alton High School in 1966. He then graduated from Beloit Vo-tech for Auto Mechanics. One year later, he enrolled in Barclay College in Haviland, Kansas where he quickly met the love of his life, Virginia Carol Arnett. It was love at first sight.
Bill and Virginia were married November 9, 1968 at Pratt Friends Church. They lived in Haviland for three months, before Bill was drafted and served in the Vietnam war in the U.S Army from April 1969 to December 1970.
After being discharged from the Army, they lived in Russell, Kansas where Bill worked as an auto mechanic and ran a wrecker service at night. In 1971, their son, Billy, was born. After moving to Alton in 1973, Bill worked at GT as a Jig builder and then Midway Co-op. In 1977, they welcomed their twin daughters, Carissa and Larissa. After building post rock fence during the day and farming every night for several years, he finally got his dream to be a full time farmer/rancher. To this day, some of the post rock Bill built still stands in Russell County.
Bill loved animals and they loved him. Even his bull would come up to his pick up to be pet. It was a very hard day when Bill had to sell his cattle and pursue other jobs to support his family. He worked at the ASCS office and farm services. He worked at Farm Bureau as a crop adjuster where he traveled all over the state. Everywhere he went, he took the opportunity to share his testimony with other farmers. Due to declining health from his Parkinson’s Disease, he was forced to quit the job he loved, but Bill still continued to farm wheat and milo. His determination and work ethic kept him going in spite of all his complications. He pursued and enjoyed many hobbies of woodworking, machining, welding, gunsmithing, reloading. The list goes on. He was a very gifted and wise man. Bill loved his family and was proud to be a Papa and a Great Grandpa. He always made sure they all knew he loved them. He prayed for his family every day. He enjoyed reading scripture and weekly bible studies with his son even when his eyesight failed him. He loved Jesus dearly. When asked what he’d want people to know about him, he said, “God was my strength.”
Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents, Loyd and Mildred Peterson and his parents, Carol and Marie Peterson. He is survived by two brothers, Ron and JoAnn Peterson, Dennis Peterson and Sandy; his wife, Virginia Peterson; their kids, son Billy and Julie Peterson, daughter Carissa and Ryan Staley, daughter Larissa and Matthew Lies; grandchildren Anna, Xandalia, Dillon, Elijah, Madilyn, Ean, and Ethan; great grandchildren, Evelyn, Emmy, and Solomon.
He was dearly loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed in this world.

Born Aug. 12, 1966, in Herington, Dan was the son of Richard and Mary Catherine Worley. He attended Abilene Public Schools where he honed his natural abilities in the Vo-Ag department, learning car repair, auto body, home construction, electrical, wiring and plumbing.
Dan began working as soon as he could, starting at Robo Car Wash and Bernie Collette's dog farm in Abilene; then at a Texaco station in Hutchinson. After moving to Osborne, he was the co-owner and mechanic at Corner Cupboard before taking a mechanic position at Swank Standley Motors, was manager of S & W Supply in Osborne and then moved to Sims Fertilizer and Chemical in Osborne, where he was a jack of all trades, whether that included loading trucks, making deliveries, repairing vehicles and equipment and last year, he helped remodel the former Circle Inn Restaurant after Sims purchased it and even spent time cooking there.
For a time he had his own DJ business, nicknamed DJ Jazzy Dan, and played at weddings, school dances and other events around the area.
Dan enjoyed rehabbing homes for his family or to sell with other investors. He spent a lot of time at the Osborne (newspaper) printing plant when it was in operation solving electrical and mechanical issues. Classic cars were his passion and he restored several vehicles for Joe Sims, helped dozens of others and happily provided insight to anyone who called him with a vehicle or home repair problem.
From childhood, Dan loved participating in sports, but his true passion was coaching: T-ball, coach-pitch, K-18 softball, flag football, junior high football and girls basketball. He spent 25 years coaching the Little Dawgs, the kids' tackle football team in Osborne. He was the play-by-play announcer for the Osborne High School Bulldogs football team, did statistics and was on the chain gang. Dan also spent countless weekends preparing and working on Josh's motorcycle during the 11 years Josh was involved with motorcross racing.
Dan married Sherrill Fischer of Abilene in 1988. They had two children, Joshua and Sasha, and later divorced in 2005. On Dec. 1, 2018, Dan married Lisette Michel in Osborne, adding her adult children Kelsey, Raegan and Madison to his family.
Family was everything to Dan. He loved nothing more than spending time with his children, grandchildren and extended family, whether it be holidays, birthdays, school concerts, games, going to the lake, cookouts or just hanging out. Dan never knew a stranger and loved to make people laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary Catherine Worley.
Survivors include his wife Lisette, of the home; children, Josh Worley (Lyndie) of Osborne, Sasha Schultze (Clayton) of Osborne; stepchildren, Kelsey (Andrew) Clark of Beloit, Raegan (Phil) Shamburg of Salina and Madison (Bobby) Bliss of Downs; grandchildren, Carsyn, Kamdyn, Brodee and Briar Worley; Fischer, Fulton, Daxx and Christian Schultze; Reid, Noah and Maci Clark; Harlyne and Olson Shamburg; and Asher and Mia Bliss; sister, Kathy Hageman (Gary) of Abilene; brother, Dale Worley of Lincoln; and fur babies, Rucker, Razr, Daisy, Elle and Sabre. Jack Dean Geisler - June 13, 1949 - February 12, 2024

Departed: 02/12/2024 (Osborne)
Obituary Preview: In loving memory of a very cherished father, grandfather, brother, and uncle whose departure from this world has left the woods more quiet and the streams of rivers more still.
Jack Dean Geisler was 74 when he passed away peacefully on the early morning of February 12th, 2024. JD spent most of his life living in Downs, KS where he worked as a roofer and was a committed husband, father, and grandfather.
JD was born in Beloit, KS on June ,13th of 1949. In 1972 on February 11th he married the love of his life Cynthia Geisler. The two then welcomed their son Jeff in 1974 who then was JD’s right hand man and forever fishing/hunting partner.
JD had attended public school and went straight to the workforce after leaving school in early high school years. JD was one of the young men that helped build the Waconda lake and after the lake was finished up he had continued the work force as a roofing contractor.
JD was a very special man with a huge heart, he made sure that everyone in the room would have a smile on their face. His hands were skilled at fishing and hunting, so skilled that it was almost an art to him. Before JD had grandchildren he taught his son Jeff everything that he knew, the two had barely spent anytime home if you needed to find them you would have to look in the woods or by the rivers. People often referred to him as the “best fisherman around” and if anyone had any questions about fishing, he was the man they all went to. He was full of wisdom both inside and outside of the woods, he would share stories and people would come back wanting more. Being able to walk around in the woods with him was truly a cherished moment and you would gain a whole new understanding of nature. His legacy will not only live on as the best fisherman but also as a man of good heart full of love, and sometimes stubbornness, he truly left an imprint on those that he loved. JD was very devoted to his grandchildren and made sure to teach them his way of life, and they will cherish those memories for a lifetime. He was the perfect grandfather and would go as far as letting his granddaughters paint his toenails hot pink! One of JD’s favorite times would be in the summer, inviting all of the family down for a fishing trip and follow it up with a huge fish fry. JD’s wisdom will continue to guide us all; as we all say our goodbyes, remember that he is fishing the best rivers up in heaven as god rest his soul, may he rest in peace, we love you papa. He is survived by his son Jeff Geisler, his grandchildren Rihannah, Kylia, Treyton, and Dane Geisler. Sisters JoAnn Robinson, Barb Geisler, and Bea Platter, and brother Jerry Geisler. JD is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Freda Geisler, brother Jim Geisler, sisters Ruth Bryant, Kathleen Stanfield, and Marlyn White

Charles Wayne Graf - September 07, 1951 - December 01, 2023

Departed: 12/01/2023 (Osborne)
Obituary Preview: Chuck was born & raised in Onaga, Kansas to parents Ellen & Ted Graf. He grew up with two older brothers, Jerry & Larry; plus many cousins, 2nd cousins, & even a double cousin, Daryl Graf. Chuck graduated from Onaga High School in 1969 & went on to NCK in Beloit, Kansas where he graduated in welding working for several companies before running his family’s bar & grill, aka: “Ted’s Grill.”
His first love was always hunting since his childhood; be it deer, quail, coyotes, rabbits, or frogs, you name it! In his late 20s his dream job unfolded for him when a close friend, Jim McDonald, told him that the government hired & paid coyote hunters to hunt coyotes in Wyoming, so Chuck loaded up his truck & moved to Wyoming! He relied on his welding skills to survive until the opportunity came for him to hunt coyotes professionally. Chuck had countless friendships with ranchers who really appreciated him lowering their livestock depredation.
Wyoming is where he also met his wife, Heather, & together they helped raise their four children, Hope, Heather May, Scott, & Kyle & were blessed with three grandchildren, Raynie, Adrienne, & Spencer.
Chuck worked on several wildlife projects to help his county & state travel bureau industry by increasing wildlife numbers. He took part in tri-county projects to record rabies, giardia, & plague numbers for coyotes, & also bait stations for skunk overpopulation areas. He also trapped raccoons & skunks for his county’s ranchers & neighbors that were a nuisance, often releasing them far from people. He assisted in different county projects including trapping troublesome black bears & mountain lions. He flew in a two-man Super Cub, or Husky plane as the gunner; often 40 feet off the ground at 100 mph! Amusement parks held no thrill for Chuck! Heather often described it as duct tape & baling wire in the sky, & prayed A LOT for her husband’s safety.
Besides being an avid coyote hunter, Chuck hunted elk every fall, always bringing home a bountiful supply of meat for his family. He continued hunting deer, antelope, & rabbits as well. He had even gone on an Alaskan adventure with his friend, Gary Lawrence, enduring a week of rain & cold with a hunting guide who just about starved them to death with repetitious “Mountain House” brand powdered chicken. Unfortunately, no moose or wolf were taken or harvested.
After 40 years of hunting coyotes for the federal government, Chuck retired. He & Heather took off in their RV & enjoyed traveling until diesel prices kept them stationery in Chuck’s home town of Onaga which was an enjoyable three years for them.
After overcoming lung cancer in 2013, cancer raised its ugly head again in 2023 in Chuck’s other lung, but this time, it took his life & presence from many family & friends besides his wife, Heather, of 36 years, who held him in her arms until his last breath at home during hospice care. Heather describing it as a beautiful thing to witness Chuck’s face light up as he went from her presence & embrace to Glory, into the arms & presence of Jesus. Fly high, Chuck!
