The former Lorraine Pederson was born on August 28, 1922 in Manitowoc daughter of the late Hiram and Olga (Hanson) Pederson. She grew up in Manitowoc and was a 1940 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On April 19, 1941 Lorraine was married to Reinhardt W. “Reiny” Reindl. The couple celebrated 63 years together before his passing on October 5, 2004. In the past Lorraine worked at the Book and Gift Shop in Manitowoc and was the Food Services Director at the Valders High School. She enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making Lefsa and playing cards. Lorraine was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Valders, FLCW Altar Guild, Christian Seniors of Faith Lutheran, River Road Homemakers, Angel Association, Whitelaw Senior Citizens and the Senior Citizens of the Reedsville Manor.

Marge was born on May 20, 1932 in Manitowoc County daughter of the late Nicholas Stahl and Lola Stahl. She married John Nething on September 21, 1953. Survivors include their children, Kim, Dawn, Karen, Randy, Paul, Scott, Linda and Renee, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband John Nething, eldest daughter Mary Propson and youngest son Terry Nething.

Mom, you were a woman who was patient, kind and would do anything for others! She was deeply devoted to her family always there for everyone and never saying no.

With all of our travels in the van and in our trucks, going to eat, traveling to Milwaukee, listening to our polkas and best of all going to church at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, shopping for jewelry and getting coffee. Mom, you will be missed so much.

The former Pat O’Neill was born on October 6, 1929 in Boston, MA, daughter of the late Robert and Marion (Barrett) O’Neill. As the family moved throughout the United States, Pat grew up in Massachusetts and Lower and Upper Michigan. She was a graduate of Escanaba Senior High School in 1947. On September 5, 1953 Pat married William J. Vachon at St. Anne Catholic Church in Escanaba, MI. He preceded her in death on August 9, 1998. In 1957 the family moved to Green Bay and in 1963 they moved to Manitowoc.

Pat was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Manitowoc. She was a former member of the Lady Elks of the Manitowoc Elks Lodge #687. Pat was a former Girl Scout Leader at Holy Innocents Church and did volunteer work at the school. She also volunteered at the Memorial Hospital and Holy Family Hospital. Pat enjoyed golfing and playing Bridge.

She was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church and Bethany’s Ladies Aid. Audrey enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, gardening, spending time in the outdoors especially working in her yard and garden.

Marian was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church where she also taught Sunday School. She also was a Cub Scout Leader for the McKinley, Madison and Riverview Schools. She was a member of Otto-Oas VFW Post #659 Auxiliary of Manitowoc.

The Frank family owned and operated Frank’s Radio since 1957 and presently is in its third generation of family ownership. He was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church. Wayne enjoyed fishing, riding his bicycle, spending time with his family and his pets.

Survivors include his wife: Judy Frank; his five children and their spouses: Laura (Mark) Meyer, Shelly (Scott) Duellman, Jeffrey Frank (Mike Faggio), Diane (Bill) Manis, Jennifer (Bradley) Fischer, all of Manitowoc; eleven grandchildren: Nicole (Adam) Mixa, Christopher (Jade) Meyer, Matthew (Megan) Meyer, Ashley Duellman, Chelsey Duellman and her fiancé Sean Peronto, Cameron Duellman and his special friend Brynn Tackett, Ryan (Megan) Manis, Steven (Monique) Manis, Nicklas Manis, Kaeden Fischer, Jacob Fischer; eleven great grandchildren; one sister: Janet Zunker, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. The Rev’s Robert Kujawski and Stephen Melso will officiate with burial of his cremated remains at the Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of services at 11:00 am.

Elaine Lendoris Muck - March 02, 1936 - February 23, 2022

Obituary Preview: Every story has an ending. Elaine’s story began like this.

Elaine Lendoris Schrank was born to Erhardt and Ethel (Evenson) Schrank in Manitowoc, WI on the 2nd of March in 1936. Her middle name came from her father’s brother, Leonard and her mother’s sister, Doris.

The youngest of two daughters, Elaine grew up between Manitowoc and her maternal Norwegian grandparents farm in Valders, WI. As a result, Elaine was a lover of animals, particularly dogs since she was young. She worked at Dunning’s grocery store during high school. Their german potato salad was her favorite.

After graduating with the Lincoln High School class of 1954, Elaine attended the Cradle in Evanston, IL for nursing, completing her studies in 1955. That same year she met Duane Muck, the proprietor of Timber Lodge, a popular beer & pizza tavern on Manitowoc’s north side. They eloped and married in Las Vegas, Nevada on Aug 25th, 1956. The Manitowoc County Fair was taking place and provided the perfect opportunity to close the tavern for a few days. In 1957 they welcomed their first of six children. 1936 was her birth year. It was also the year King Edward VIII abdicated. The completion of the Hoover Dam, the first public flight of the Hindenburg, the first publication of Gone With the Wind and issue of Life magazine and Billboard Magazine published its first pop music chart. Pop music in 1936?

This is shared because Elaine took great interest in the world around her. She was an avid crossword puzzler, and a lover of literature with books or magazines always nearby. The big picture mattered as well as the short interactions she had daily with strangers who soon were considered friends. She never met a person she didn’t have a smile for or appreciate. And if she had, she never would have said so. She didn’t complain. She found something special in all those she knew.

Elaine is survived by her children Terri Barrie, Brian and Tina Muck, Vicki and Todd Laws, Tammy Muck and David Muck, and grandchildren, Elizabeth and Tucker Barrie, Alyssa (Dan) Fourness, Alexa Laws (Nick Grey), Derek and Nathan Muck, great grandchildren Jasper and Aila Fourness. sisters-in-law Betty Polzin and Sharen Split, very special cousins, nieces and nephews, former son in law Bob Barrie and many special lifelong friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Duane, her son Bradley, sister Marilyn Rosenbauer, grandchild Zach, sister in-law Ramona Hart and brother in-laws Robert Polzin and William Hart.

Elaine’s story ended February 23, 2022. One week shy of her 86th birthday. The world is much different from when she entered it. She would have happily picked up an accordion over an iPad. Elaine recently said that, “She’d love to stay, but that it was time to go.” Although her story is over, her memory will live on.

A celebration of life for Elaine will be held March 5th, 2022 at 11am - 2pm at the All-Care Celebration Center at 925 So 14th Street, Manitowoc. A luncheon will be served and german potato salad will be on the menu.

Scott J. Behnke - May 17, 1952 - February 21, 2022

Obituary Preview: Scott J. Behnke, age 69, of Eagan, MN passed away Monday, February 21, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family who took turns sharing mostly-true stories about him.

Scott was born to Roger and Marie (Klokow) Behnke on May 17, 1952, in Brillion, WI. He grew up alongside five brothers and two sisters and graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On March 30, 1979, Scott was married to Nancy A. Menges at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in the township of Gibson.

Scott and Nancy later moved to Eagan, MN where they raised their five children, teaching them to walk in faith and learn in love. Together, they built a successful business from the ground up, but more importantly, they built a life and a family that was rooted deeply in an unshakeable faith.

Scott was known for the way that he lived, but mostly he was known for the way that he loved. His approach to life was simple and the way he loved was simple, too: all in and all the way. He was as loyal as he was stubborn and held tightly to his convictions, always pointing people back to prayer and their principles.

Scott was his happiest self when he was cheering on the Packers, sitting in his chair next to the campfire up north or sitting down to an Old Fashioned on a Friday night. But he was his best self when his home was filled with the love and laughter of his family. That’s the way he always wanted it and that’s the way he left us–in his home, filled with the love and laughter of the people who loved him most.

In the end, it was his heart that sent him to heaven—a heart that held so much love, it grew a size too big. He is already so very missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Roger and Marie Behnke; one brother: Mark Behnke, one sister-in-law: Dolores Behnke.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM Friday, February 25, 2022, at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. The Revs. Robert Kujawski and Stephen Melso will officiate with burial to follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in the township of Gibson. Viewing for friends and relatives will begin two hours prior to the service at 10:30 AM at the church.

Joe worked as a customer service representative for various local companies retiring from Invincible Metal Furniture Company.

Joe was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Redeemer’s Mens Club, the Redeemer Lutheran Choir, Manitowoc Golden Kiwanis, Clipper City Chordsmen and a life member of the AmVets Post #99 of Manitowoc.

Obituary Preview: Keith Arlan Smith, age 82, of Manitowoc, peacefully passed away Friday morning, January 21, 2022. Keith was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann Smith, who passed away on December 7, 2020.

Keith was born on October 3, 1939 in Rice Lake, son of Lawrence and Verna (Roberts) Smith. Keith married Carol A. Smith in 1959 in Rice Lake, and after living in several locations in Wisconsin and Illinois the couple moved to Manitowoc where they have resided since. Keith worked for many years for the Beneficial Finance Company and other finance companies, helping people secure personal and small business loans that saved many homes for individuals and their families. Keith was also a member of First Lutheran Church of Manitowoc.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: David and Kim Smith of Shawano, and Dr. Rodney and Linda Smith of Menomonee Falls; three grandchildren: Cheyenne Smith of Milwaukee, Jesse Smith of Colorado Springs, CO, and Heidi Rusboldt of Manitowoc. Keith was one of six children born to Lawrence and Verna, including two surviving brothers and one sister-in-law: Chuck and Evelyn Smith of Wedowee, AL, and Del Smith of Rice Lake, and one surviving sister and brother-in-law, Vernita and Randy Prather of Rice Lake. Keith is also survived by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, including Dale and Marilyn Smith, Raymond and Judy Smith, Alan and Debbie Smith, Donny and Lois Smith, Brian and Chris Smith, Bruce Smith, Mark and Robin Smith, and Roberta Smith, all of Rice Lake; Marilyn Otterholdt of Rhinelander and Janice Elliott of Sandstone, MN, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Keith was known for his quick wit, intense love of family, and passion for fishing and camping. When David and Rodney were youngsters Keith served as their Boy Scout Troop Leader, making sure to schedule trips into the great outdoors for the scouts and introduce them to outdoor-related activities such as fishing rod building and wood carving. When his sons got into wrestling Keith became the Lincoln High School Wrestling Team’s official photographer, taking and self-developing thousands of photographs, which he gave to all of the wrestlers throughout the years and were often published in the local newspaper. He was honored several times by the Wrestling Club for his dedicated service and unselfish involvement in Manitowoc Wrestling.

Keith and Carol were a team in every sense of the word, turning their home into a meeting place for neighborhood kids and groups of wrestlers and cheerleaders, including long after David and Rodney had left home. When their granddaughters, Cheyenne and Jesse, were born Keith and Carol dedicated themselves to the girls with a passion and love that was boundless. They helped raise their granddaughters as though they were their very own, and doted on them far beyond the roles of traditional grandparents.

Keith was a loving and loyal friend, brother, husband, father and grandfather, always willing with his time and resources for a friend in need. He will be deeply missed and those who survive his passing are grateful for having had him in their lives.

Bette was born on March 16, 1928 to Herbert and Kathryn Remiker in Reedsville. After graduating from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1946, Bette headed west on a road trip with her cousin Margy Cavanaugh, settling in California. She worked as an Executive Secretary for the Rand Corporation in Santa Monica, CA for 35 years.

Bette married Cyrus (Cy) Colcord on December 18, 1983. Upon retirement, they moved to Montrose, Colorado to be near the mountains and Cy’s family.

Bette is survived by her sister, Shirlee Gigure; nieces and their spouses: Ann and Randy Hoffmeister, Amy Gigure, Sarah and Sean Harvatine, Betsy and Steve Maliborski, William and Elena Shank, Robert and Marisol Shank, Bonnie Shank, niece-in-law Karin Gigure and many great nephews, great nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Kathryn Remiker; her husband, Cyrus Colcord; her brother-in-law William Gigure; her nephew, John Gigure; her brother and sister-in-law William and Joan Shank; and her beloved pups, Rags and Pooh Bear.

Bette enjoyed walking, chatting with dogs and their people, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. Her greatest pleasures included appreciating flowers, wildlife, and the overall beauty of the outdoors.

Joyce was born on July 25, 1934 in Whitelaw, daughter of the late Alfons and Vlasta (Ludvina) Zipperer. On March 31, 1951 she married Arthur J. Ayotte at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whitelaw. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2003. She started her own business, Flowers By Joyce, in 1979 and retired in 1997. Joyce was a volunteer at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center and was a member of the Manitowoc Lions Club, serving as past president and secretary. Her and Arthur were active former members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and she was a current member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish. She was known as “Grandma Joyce” to many little ones other than her own grandchildren.

Obituary Preview: Atty. William “Bill” A. Gigure, age 93, of Manitowoc, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Sylvan Crossings Assisted Living in Manitowoc.

Bill was born on March 29, 1928 in Antigo, WI, son of the late Marvin and Luella (Poirier) Gigure. He grew up in Manitowoc and was a 1946 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Upon graduation, Bill was inducted into the United States Marine Corps serving from 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1948. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Marquette University in 1952 and his Juris Doctorate from Marquette in 1954, all while working multiple jobs to pay for his education. While at Marquette Law School, he served as editor of the Law Review and graduated at the top of his class. Bill enjoyed a 55-year law career beginning with the firm of Murphy and Brady in Manitowoc, later starting his own firm, and retiring in 2009.

On May 14, 1955, Bill married the former Shirlee M. Remiker at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Their 66-year marriage was blessed with 5 children and 5 grandchildren. He and Shirlee provided a loving home for their family where passion for reading, music and the Green Bay Packers was instilled and where education, hard work, humor and kindness were encouraged.

Bill was a man of many interests and pursued all of them with vigor. He was a voracious reader, loved football and theater, and valued community involvement. While in college, he played halfback for the Manitowoc Braves, forerunners of the Manitowoc Chiefs. He was inducted into the Manitowoc Semi-Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1994 and served as the Manitowoc Chiefs attorney for many years, playing a pivotal role in the construction of the current Chiefs clubhouse. He was involved in many community organizations including: Manitowoc Yacht Club, Manitowoc Elks Lodge, Wisconsin Bar Association, Salvation Army, Hatrack Storytellers, Heart-A-Rama and Masquers where he served as their attorney for over 40 years. He performed in more than 30 productions with Masquers, as well as numerous productions at the Forst Inn and UW-Manitowoc. Bill was also an active member of Sacred Heart Parish, later joining St. Francis of Assisi Parish upon merger.

Survivors include his wife: Shirlee Gigure, Manitowoc; four daughters and three sons-in-law: Ann (Randy) Hoffmeister, Bluffton, SC, Amy Gigure, Fox Point, Sarah (Sean) Harvatine, Janesville, Betsy (Steve) Maliborski, Manitowoc; one daughter-in-law: Karin Gigure, Two Rivers; five grandchildren: Sam Gigure, John Annis, Kirby Annis, Anna Harvatine, Sean Harvatine; one brother and two sisters-in-law: David Michael (Marilyn) Gigure, Sun City West, AZ, Beverly Novak, Manitowoc; one brother-in-law: John Zahn, Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Marvin and Luella Gigure; his son: John Gigure; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Donald (Marilyn) Gigure, Lawrence Gigure; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Annella (Carlton) Tetak, Marlene Gibeault-Zahn (Neal Gibeault), Imogene (Ronald) Zunker and one brother-in-law, Cyrus Colcord. His sister-in-law Bette Colcord followed him in death on January 9, 2022.

Doris was born on June 28, 1931 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late William and Ella (Dill) Grosshuesch. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School class of 1949. Doris worked for the Manitowoc Board of Education prior to her marriage. On September 12, 1953 Doris married Elroy H. Bruckschen at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church in the town of Newton. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1994. Doris and Elroy worked the family farm in the town of Newton until his illness forced retirement in 1980. Doris was a lifetime member of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church and was active in the Ladies Aid, Choir and Family Bible Study group. She was a talented writer and enjoyed writing poems for family birthdays and other occasions. Doris was a member of the Angel Association and did volunteer work at Manitowoc Health Care Center in her retirement years. She enjoyed playing piano and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kristine was born January 22, 1974 in Milwaukee, daughter of Michael and Doreen (Bollenbach) Festge. She graduated with honors from Whitefish Bay High School in 1992. Kristine graduated from Carleton College, Northfield MN, in 1996 with a degree in religion. On April 17, 1999 she was united in marriage to Andy Jacobson in Milwaukee.

Kristine worked as Faith Formation Director at First Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. She had also worked as Youth Director at Grace English Lutheran Church (Berlin, WI), music teacher at schools in Kiel and St Nazianz, and staff at Jackson Elementary School. Kristine served as Jackson School PTO president for several years. She was an active volunteer for numerous school, church, and community organizations.

Kristine enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a talented musician as a vocalist and violinist. Kristine enjoyed being in nature through hiking and camping. She experienced many travels around the United States and globally.

Kristine was a vital, kind, and generous individual. She was a loving wife and mother. Kristine had a strong faith, and helped many others nurture their own faiths.

Survivors include her husband: Andy Jacobson, Manitowoc; her children: Sam, Gretchen, and Theo Jacobson; Kristine is further survived by her parents, Mike and Doreen Festge, Shorewood WI, her sister Kate (Michael) Ricaurte Northbrook Il, her brother Kurt (Jen) Festge Asheville, NC, parents – in-law Don and Jo Jacobson, her brother-in-law Steve (Debbie), her sisters-in-law Mary Boehlke, Anne (Andy) Dressel, and Amy (James) Agpoon. She leaves 15 nieces and nephews and 2 great nephews who also mourn her passing along with a host of friends worldwide. She was preceded in death by her nephew Joshua Banda.

Geri was born on August 14, 1923 in Reedsville, daughter of the late Albert and Clara (Remiker) Wolf. She was a graduate of Reedsville High School. On September 10, 1949 Geri was married to Leonard “Bud” VandenBusch. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1984. She worked in the past as an office manager at the Watercare Company. Geri was a member and officer of Women’s Aglow International and formerly of the Faith Free Church. She volunteered at the Manitowoc Public Library and the Salvation Army. Geri loved Bible study, entertaining in her home and traveling with her husband Bud.

The last three years of Geri’s life were spent at Azura Memory Care where she hosted music events and coffee gatherings as friends continued to come where she was and bring joy to all.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law: Virginia (Robert) Adams, Milwaukee; one sister-in-law: Fern Wolf, Green Bay, nieces, nephews and many faithful friends also survive. Carol was born on April 27, 1941 in the town of Franklin, Kewaunee County, the daughter of the late Raymond and Agnes (Valenta) Duckart. She graduated with the class of 1959 from Denmark High School. On November 26, 1960 Carol married Wayne Herold at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tisch Mills. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2010. She worked at Hamilton’s, Mirro Aluminum Company, as a housekeeper and a full-time mom.

Carol was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and the Happy Hoppers. She loved to polka, going to dances, camping, gardening, her flowers, and feeding the outdoor birds. She was a wonderful baker making kolaches, Belgium pies, bread, buns and desserts. Carol enjoyed sewing. She sewed the baptismal gown which all her grandchildren wore on their sacramental day. She was a devote Catholic going to Mass, prayer group and making rosaries. She enjoyed making green and gold (Packer colored) rosaries. Above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her children.

Kamilla was born on November 15, 1962 in Dayton, Ohio. She is the daughter of the late Roy and Sara (Burlingame) Sessions. On August 8, 2018 she finally married her longtime partner Michael P. Berzinsky in Las Vegas, NV.

Her childhood was filled with travel due to her father being in the Air Force. She lived in many locations (Dayton, OH; Okinawa, Japan; Tucson, AZ; and Grand Forks, ND) and after her father retired from the Air Force, they all moved to Eleva, Wisconsin. Later on, she moved to Manitowoc for work, where she settled and raised her children in her dream home across from the beautiful Lake Michigan. She continued her love for travel with her husband Michael and made sure to share that love with her children.

Kamilla was a woman of many talents and jobs. Over the years she worked for Shopko Optical, Bank First National, she co-owned her karaoke business Konstant Karaoke, and freelanced as an Avon and Tupperware consultant. In addition to all of that what she loved the most was creating, everything from painting, gardening, crafting, sewing and baking. She enjoyed sharing this love with anyone - even perfect strangers who by the end of their conversation became a great friend and were treated like family. Her proudest moments were when she saw all of her children reach for their dreams and do what they love most.

Survivors include her husband: Michael P. David was a United States Army veteran serving from December 23, 1968 through July 28, 1971. On September 9, 1972 David was married to the former Dianne J. Tech at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. He retired from Anheuser-Busch Malting Plant in Manitowoc. David loved being an entrepreneur. David started 2 different businesses which included Newton Valley Water Co. and Elite Concrete Polishing. He also enjoyed as a hobby woodworking and wood turning. He was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church where he ushered and served on various committees and boards.

He is survived by his wife: Dianne J. Bob served in the United States Army from July 8, 1954 until his Honorable Discharge on June 7, 1956 reaching the rank of SP3. On July 14, 1956 Bob married the former Ethel A. Bruckschen at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church in Newton. She preceded him in death on November 9, 2019. Bob began his teaching career in 1953 teaching in Two Creeks. He was the Principal at Stangel Elementary School in 1974 and Jefferson Elementary School in 1986, retiring from Manitowoc Public School District in 1990. In his retirement years, he and Ethel traveled extensively throughout the United States. He was a member of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church.
