Obituary Preview: Christopher L. Nooney, 35, of North Chatham, NY, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024. He was born on January 18, 1989, in Albany, NY.
Christopher was known for his heart of gold and great sense of humor. He had a deep passion for music and a love for animals of all kinds, especially wolves. An avid sports fan, he cherished watching college basketball, with March Madness being his favorite time of year, a tradition he enjoyed sharing with his mother.
He worked as a mechanic at Tony Scott Auto in East Greenbush, where he formed close bonds with his co-workers, whom he considered brothers.
Christopher will be deeply missed by his mother, Bonnie R. Nooney of North Chatham, NY; his aunt and uncles, Ed and JoAnn Rouse of Atlanta, GA, Brian and Maryann Rouse of Clifton Park, NY, Jay and Beth Rouse of Virginia, Jeff and Tammy Rouse of North Chatham, NY and Aaron and Beth Rouse of Virginia. He is also survived by several cousins and nephews.
In addition to his father, Bruce, he was also predeceased by his half-sister, Tara Hughes and his grandparents, Ed and Avril Rouse and Lyle and Jeannine Nooney.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.

Obituary Preview: David P. Eberlein, 85, of Valatie NY passed away on Tuesday May 7, 2024 in Albany NY. He was born in Hudson NY on December 24, 1938 and was a Mechanic for Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. until his retirement. Dave and his lifelong friend and business partner Rudy Bozik also operated Omi Automotive in Omi NY for many years. He was a lifelong resident of Columbia County and most recently lived in Valatie with his devoted wife Diane.
Dave was a proud lifetime member of the Kinderhook Elks Lodge #2530 and the Glencadia Rod and Gun Club, where he valued many new and longtime friendships. He also enjoyed the camaraderie of many friends at Four Brothers, Samson's, and the Niverville Pub.
Dave enjoyed all things automotive, spending time outdoors, and most importantly, spending time with his beloved family and friends.
Dave is survived by his loving wife Diane Eberlein, sons Victor (Pamela), Matthew (Victoria), David (Kerin), and daughter Cristina (James) Shord. He is also survived by his grandchildren Patricia, Jennifer, Matthew, Laura, Alexandra, and Katelyn Eberlein, and Keira and Andrew Hourigan. He was predeceased by his parents Gustav and Bertha Eberlein.
Calling hours will be held at 10:00am on Friday May 17 at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook St. Valatie with a service at 12:00pm conducted by Rev. Dan Cohn. Burial will follow at Stuyvesant Falls Cemetery, 1620 Route 9, Stuyvesant Falls NY.

Obituary Preview: Patricia A. Hickey, 83, of Valatie, passed away with her family by her side on May 4, 2024. Born in Troy, NY on March 8, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Ellsworth Henry and Esther Mary (Ingraham) Fosby Sr and the wife of the late Robert A. Hickey.
Before her retirement, Patricia was employed by Speedy Sales in Nassau, NY. She was a member of the Reformed Dutch Church of Claverack and enjoyed Jigsaw Puzzles, reading and the company of her loving nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her twin sister, Priscilla A. Fosby of Valatie; her favorite niece, Teresa (William) Krein of Hudson; a special great niece, Savannah Rae Favorito and several other nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Patricia is also predeceased by her brothers, Ellsworth Henry Fosby Jr. and Richard Fosby Sr.
Friends are invited and may call from 12-1 PM, Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Rt. 9, Valatie, NY with services following at 1PM by Rev. Stanley Webster. Obituary Preview: Maureen Elizabeth Rielly Commisa (76) passed peacefully on April 24, 2024, after a courageous 11-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by those she loved at her home in Valatie, NY.
Maureen was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Born in Troy, she grew up in Scarsdale, and raised her children in Valatie. She worked with her family at Rielly Company many years before she fearlessly moved west and built a whole new life. 'Reen expanded her career, met new friends who became family to her and fell in love with the southwest. She traveled as often as possible before retiring to the Valatie area she loved most. A woman of many talents, 'Reen was a voracious reader with a passion for history both as a historian & one of our family's archivists. A music lover to the core, she shared her enthusiasm with everyone.
A true artist whose ability included multiple forms of expression; Maureen's talent was inherited by her grandchildren. Nature was her happy place and her muse; she never missed the opportunity to appreciate its beauty. She was always up for a drive to take pictures or chase sunsets. In spring she planned her garden while summer was full of horse racing as she enjoyed all aspects of the sport. Fall brought hopes of the post season for her beloved NY Yankees & apple picking, and winter was full of family time, ice skating and joy of the holidays. 'Reen was also an amazing cook. She loved to discuss cooking and recipes with her friends and family. She experimented with flavors, loved to use fresh herbs from her garden, and her pesto was always in high demand.
She leaves decades of fond and colorfully fun memories to her family Jenna Commisa, Dana (Greg) Gideon, Aimee (Chris) Chaves, her grandchildren Keegan Williamson, Hannah Gideon, Gregory Gideon Jr, and Riley Chaves, siblings, nieces & nephews, and friends. Obituary Preview: Brian Martin Hesler, 58, of Valatie, New York, passed away peacefully at his home on April21, 2024 after a long battle with an alcohol substance use disorder.
Brian was born in Niskayuna to James Edward Hesler and Janet May Barnthouse on November 21, 1965. He attended Mont Pleasant High School and graduated in 1983. He was the youngest of seven siblings and always had a knack for making people laugh. Brian worked as a New York State Corrections Officer for more than 30 years before retiring in2022. It wasn't an easy job and it took its toll in many ways, but he always worked hard to provide everything he could for his family. Brian was known for his sense of humor and the kindness he displayed towards many. For many years, he was active with the American RedCross as a blood and plasma donor and he never hesitated to help someone in need.
Brian loved his family, especially his two children. He will be missed by many. For many years, Brian kept his struggles with addiction a secret, an unfortunate stigma that is all too common. His family hopes that by sharing this it may encourage others to get the help they need.
He is survived by Susan Hesler, his daughter Samantha Hesler (Owen Smith), his son Jonathan Hesler, his beloved dog Willow, his six siblings: Jim Hesler (Marcia Hesler),Barbara Pearsall (Greg Pearsall), Paul Hesler (Sharon Hesler), Helen Mead (Rande Mead),Kathy Garretto (Paul Garretto), David Hesler, and his many nieces, nephews, and their children. He was predeceased by his parents James and Janet Hesler, and his son Benjamin Hesler.

1921. Sam attended grade school in Kinderhook, New York, before beginning work at an early age. However, it was his profession as a barber that brought him the most pride. For over 50 years, Sam dedicated
himself to his craft, cutting hair and connecting with his community in Albany. During World War II, Sam bravely served his country as a member of the US Navy. His service was a
source of pride throughout his life. In 1999, Sam was honored by the local American Legion Post number 47 for his unwavering dedication
as a member for over 75 years. Sam is survived by his children Tom, Timmy, and Debbie (Donald), sister and very special caregiver Rosie, brother Guy, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded by his wife Mary, son Sam (Joanne), his parents, and siblings Lena, Joe, Frank, Ralph,
Charlie, Jimmy, Susie, and Lucy. The wake will be held at Bond Funeral Home in Valatie, NY, on Thursday April 25, 2024 from 4-5:30 pm. A prayer service will follow at 5:30pm/

Obituary Preview: Peacefully and surrounded by her family, Janet Godfrey, 89, of Niverville, NY, passed away on April 13th, 2024. Janet was born in West Albany, NY, on August 2nd, 1934, the daughter of George and Lillian Bleichert. She grew up in West Albany, NY, as the oldest of six children. Janet enjoyed working at the candy counter when Grant's Department Store opened on North Pearl Street in 1950. It was there she met her husband, Paul Godfrey Sr. They settled in Niverville, NY, and raised their three children.
Janet's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially watching her grandchildren and great-grandsons grow. She took enormous pleasure in cooking for her family, entertaining, and singing (many weekends in the late 70s at the Lakeshore house in Niverville). Her sense of humor was beyond compare, and she had a unique ability to make everyone feel like they were part of the family.
Survivors include her three children: Paul Godfrey and his wife, Karen, of North Chatham, NY; Linda Meehan of Niverville, NY; and Lisa Swartz and her husband, James, of Ghent, NY. Additionally, she is survived by her four grandchildren: Justin Godfrey and his wife, Angie; Steven Meehan and his wife, Justine; Katie Meehan; and Thomas Meehan. Also, four treasured great-grandsons: Ryan Godfrey, Connor, Cody, and Colin Meehan. Janet is also survived by her beloved sister, Julie Curtis; sister, Lillian Smith; brother, Joseph Bleichert; and sister-in-law, Donna Bleichert, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Janet is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Paul Godfrey Sr., and brothers George and John Bleichert.
Visitation will be held at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home on Friday, April 19th, 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A small gravesite service will follow at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 2:00 pm, where she will be buried alongside her husband.

Daniel was born July 7th, 1947 in Albany, NY. He was the loving son of the late Daniel and Catherine (Rosch) Main. Predeceased by his brother Joseph Belfiore Jr (2008), sister Kathleen Caswell (2022) as well as, his son in-laws Ian Ashline (2019), Darren Miller (2022) and great nephew Daniel Butler (2009). In addition, he is also survived by his wife Kelly Travers- Main and children Caitlyn (William), Rachel (Alex), Daniel III (Lilly); grandson Owen Ashline, granddaughter Willow Mae Crandall, nephews and niece Glenn (Vicki), David, Sandra Butler, as well as extended family and friends.
Daniel was a graduate of Columbia High School and was presented the Cibulas Medallion Award. Throughout the years of employment, he worked for Corellis & Hoffarth Refuse, Demartini Oil & Equipment, Sterling Winthrop and Owens Corning of Delmar NY in the Predictive Maintenace Department for 28 years. He was also a member of the St. Lukes Lutheran Church of Valatie, the 1970's Rensselaer County Motorcycle Club, Nassau Sportsmans Club, a brother of the Renssalaer County Masons branch of East Greenbush, as well as an honorary member of the East Coast Riders- Columbia County. He was an avid outdoorsman, drag racer, motorcycle rider and always loved tinkering on something in his barn. Daniel was a loyal friend you could always count on and a protective guardian of his family. Charles Frederick Heermance - March 25, 1931 - April 10, 2024

Obituary Preview: Charles Frederick Heermance, 93 of East Greenbush, NY passed away on April 10, 2024 at the Evergreen Commons Nursing home in East Greenbush. Charles was born in Niverville, NY to Elizabeth and Frederick Heermance on March 25,1931. Charles attended the Martin H. Glynn school in Valatie, NY, eventually getting his GED. Charles married the love of his life Mary in 1951, this past January, they celebrated 73 years of marriage. In 1952, Charles was drafted into the Marine Corps to serve in the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged on March 12,1954. For over 25 years, Charles worked at the GAF/BASF factory in Rensselaer, NY in the Steam generation facility. Charles was an avid golfer, bowler, home chef, and prankster who was an astute observer of human nature. Charles enjoyed swimming and on several occasions was able to rescue drowning children while watching his own. Charles witnessed profound poverty and starvation overseas while in the Marine Corps, which led him to grow vegetables on 11 acres of land, and to supplement his income with a family produce stand. Charles is survived by his wife Mary Heermance of East Greenbush, NY, his daughters Christine Tolcser (Eric) of East Schodack, Lisa Heermance of East Greenbush, son Martin Heermance (Sharon) of Boston; grandchildren Lara and Andrew Heermance, his nephew Richard Jacker, niece Amanda Wood and great nephew Lee. Charles is predeceased by his parents and his sister Katherine Kelsey. Memorial donations may be made to the Regional Food bank of Northeastern NY. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the compassionate staff at the Evergreen Commons nursing home and the nursing staff at Albany Medical center. Before her retirement, Alice was a Registered Nurse for the Columbia Memorial Hospital for 30 years.
She was an active member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Valatie, the Business and Professional Women's Foundation in Hudson, the Trippers, the Red Hatters and the Fortknightly Club. Alice also enjoyed volunteering at the Mac-Haydn Theater in Chatham.
She is survived by her sisters, Margaret Knight of Chatham and Mary (Rex) Bryce of Troy; her nieces and nephews, Deborah (Tad) Holtz, Diane (David Angel) Bryce, Danielle (Scott) Smith, John (Linda) Knight, Elizabeth (Jay) Guetersloh and Edward Knight. Great nieces and nephews also survive her.

Obituary Preview: Mabel Usyk, 84, of Valatie, NY, passed away peacefully on April 5th, 2024, in Lenox, MA. Born in Hudson, NY on April 20th, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Henry B. and Dorothy (Williams) Tator, Sr.
Mabel grew up in both Valatie and North Chatham, NY . She was a graduate of Ichabod Crane Central Schools. Many will remember her big wave and smile as she delivered mail for USPS on the rural routes of Valatie. She was one of the first in the area to sell manufactured homes in the mid 70's. She worked for Golden Acres Mobile Home Sales where she and her sister Pearl were known as the "Golden Girls". Earlier in her life, she was a member of the Chatham BPW, the Tri-Village Ladies Auxiliary, the Kinderhook Lake Improvement Association and the Red Hats. She also worked as a poll worker for the many elections throughout the years
An avid horsewoman, Mabel raised and enjoyed riding her many horses over the years. She was also known for her cooking and baking. Throughout the years she hosted many families and friends with her parties and celebrations. Known to all as "Aunt Mabel's Kitchen".
She is survived by her children, Rhonda (Steve), Lisa (Keith) and Richard (Laurie) Usyk; her greatest gift, granddaughter, Ashley Goodrich; her favorite niece, Debbie Hahn Ostrowksi; many nephews and her Weimaraner, Mollie.
Mabel was predeceased by her husband, Richard M. Usyk, her sister, Pearl Ingham, her brothers, Fred and Henry Tator, Jr., nephews, Robert, Danny and David Tator and her companion Howard VanHoesen.
Funeral Services will be 11AM, Thursday at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie with Reverend Dave Krott officiating. Burial will follow at the North Chatham Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.

Patrick Michael Grattan - October 08, 1954 - March 27, 2024

Obituary Preview: A bright light has dimmed on earth and now shines among the stars. Patrick Michael Grattan was born on October 8, 1954 and passed away on March 27, 2024 with his loved ones by his side. Between those two dates lay an exquisitely lived life.
Pat was born to Thomas Grattan and Constance (Harmer) Grattan in Caerphilly, Wales (both deceased) and spent his early years in Wales, England, Ireland, Canada, and Kinderhook before establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with in Valatie, New York. He served his community for over 30 years as Mayor of Valatie, Supervisor of the Town of Kinderhook, and Chair of the Columbia County Board of Supervisors. Over the past 14 years, he was Associate Court Attorney at the Greene County Supreme and County Court in Catskill. Throughout his career, he set highly ambitious, sometimes seemingly impossible, goals to make life better for his fellow citizens, and achieved them through a mix of knowledge, empathy, and charm.
Pat was a strong proponent of education. He attended Hudson Valley Community College, received his B.A. from Siena College, M.A. in Literature from the College of St. Rose, and his J.D. Degree from Albany Law School.
A true Renaissance man, he was known not just for his leadership and legal mind, but also as a skilled plumber and carpenter – as comfortable with a wrench in his hand as a gavel. He was always willing to ply any of his trades on behalf of his vast array of friends from all walks of life. If he was your friend, he was your steadfast and loyal friend forever.
Pat was most proud of his family. He was a devoted husband to Liz and a dedicated father to his daughter Emily. As busy as he was, he was most happy to be back in his longtime home enjoying a delicious meal and working on an endless list of home improvements. He loved working on the house, chopping wood, and mowing the lawn. No matter what he was doing, he was always thinking. A voracious reader and witty raconteur, he could converse on any topic and be counted on for strong commentary on the state of the world, always delivered with a mischievous grin. Oh, the stories he could tell.
Pat is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 40 years Liz (Mink) Grattan, his devoted daughter Emily Grattan, and son-in-law Ben Groder, as well as his sisters Mary Grattan Gielen (Frank) and Eileen Grattan, his brother Kevin Grattan (Denise, deceased) and eight nieces and nephews in Columbia County and Canada.
To honor Pat's remarkable life, there will be a viewing from 11-12:30 PM followed by his funeral at 12:30 PM on Saturday, March 30, at the Ghent Reformed Church, 1039 County Rte. 22 in Ghent. Burial will be in the West Ghent Cemetery followed by a reception in the church hall.

Doris was a graduate of the Ichabod Crane Central School District in Valatie. Before her retirement, she accomplished a long career at New York Telephone / NYNEX for 37 and a half years. She was an Operator, worked in the Mailroom then moved on to secretarial positions for many different people before completing her career in Exchange Carrier Relations which was a department that dealt with independent phone companies such as Berkshire Telephone Company in Kinderhook, NY. She was a member of the Tri-Village Seniors, the Telephone Pioneers and for 30 years a committee member for Boy Scout Troop 114.
Doris is survived by her beloved son, William J. Graham, Jr. of Valatie and many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her sister-in-laws, Jackie and Marge O'Brien, Jean Graham and Lorraine Monaco and her brother-in-laws, Jack, Bob and Harold Graham.
A mass of Christian burial for Doris will be held 12:30 PM, Monday at St. John the Baptist Church, Valatie, with Rev. Steve Matthews officiating. Calling hours will be prior to the service from 10-12 PM at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie. Burial is at the Cemetery of the Maples, East Chatham, NY. After graduating from Port Henry High School in 1962, Steve pursued his passion for education, obtaining both bachelor's and master's degrees in physical education from the State University of New York College at Cortland. His professional journey spanned over three decades, which started off with being a physical education instructor at Crown Point High School for three years before dedicating 30 years to Ichabod Crane Central School, where he was cherished as a teacher, coach, and mentor.
While Steve found fulfillment in his career, he had many personal pursuits. Steve was a long time member of the Kinderhook Reformed Church. He served as an usher and volunteered on several committees. Steve took delight in the simple pleasures of bird watching, coin collecting and fishing. He was a dedicated fan of the Detroit Lions, Tigers and Red Wings. Steve is well known around town for his love of Necco Wafers, and sharing Smarties with his grandchildren.
But his greatest joy came from sharing life's moments with his beloved wife, Janet. Together, they celebrated 57 years of marriage, creating countless cherished memories and enjoying their six remarkable grandchildren.
Survived by his loving wife, Janet, Steve leaves behind a legacy of love and guidance through his sons and daughters-in-law: Russ and Alicia (Simonetti) of East Cannan, CT, Jason and Christy (Seebode) of Queensbury, NY, and Andy and Kerri (Martinovich) of Oxford, FL, as well as his grandchildren: Jacob, Caleb, Benjamin, Joshua, Katelyn and Emily.
Additionally, Steve is survived by his brother, Gerald Shpur, his sister, Bonnie (Richard) Bruce, brothers Tim (Jill) Shpur and Tom (Sue) Shpur, sister Joanne (Floyd) Shappy and sister-in-law Ann (Gus) Harris. He is also survived by nieces Katie, Chrissy, Heather, Kerri, Tara, Danielle, and nephews Jeremy, Jed, Taylor, Ryan, Travis, and Tristan. He will also be sadly missed by his pet cats Buddy and Miggy.
Steve was preceded in death by his brother Michael Shpur, sister-in-law Jeanne Shpur, nephews Jared Shpur and Christopher Shpur, niece Kristi Shpur, mother Dorothy Shpur, father Gerald Shpur, mother-in-law Isabelle Hasselbach, and father-in-law Richard Hasselbach.
There will be a celebration of life for the family to be planned at a later date.

She enjoyed reading, movies, live theater and concerts and traveling the globe.
Priscilla is survived by her husband, Howard Spinner, of San Ramon, CA; her son, Zac Saunders of Pinole CA; her daughter, Jen (Mike) Spencer of Goodyear AZ; her sister, Polly Connelly of Tucson AZ and her brothers, Peter (Marilyn) Rogati of Cortland NY and Paul (Karen) Rogati of Essex MA. Priscilla also has two grandchildren, Dylan and Kyle Spencer who live in Goodyear AZ. Besides her parents, Priscilla is predeceased by a son, Kevin Spinner.
Memorial donations may be made to UCSF Benioff Hospital's Pediatric Cancer Program in San Francisco, CA.

Jane and Tony traveled the world and were inseparable in both work and life.Tony was well known in Film, TV and Theatre in the United States and abroad. Jane wrote scripts for their TV and Films in the US and in Italy. She was a freelance screenwriter, member of the Writers Guild American West, National Academy of Television Arts and Science, and is listed as a notable screenwriter by Marquis Who's Who.
Jane is survived by 5 siblings — Deborah Baxter, Beverley Tierney, Nancy Bagnal, Edward Sparkes III and Anne Lieberman as well as nine nieces and nephews. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Tony, who died in 2013.
Burial services will be held at 11:00 AM on March 18, 2024 at the Island Cemetery next to Tony, reunited in love on their beloved Block Island.

Born in Brooklyn to Eugene and Ernestine Silver, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
Paul was a graduate of Hudson High School, Columbia-Greene Community College, SUNY Albany, and Albany Law School. In his early work years, he was an integral part of the team at The Town Fair, a toy and baby furniture store in Hudson, NY, owned by his family. He began his legal career clerking for the Honorable Roger J. Miner, his mentor and friend. He continued his career at the Office of the NYS Attorney General, and ended his legal career as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of NY. During his early tenure there, he successfully prosecuted numerous significant narcotics and weapons cases. Paul was honored by the International Narcotic Enforcement Officers Association, cited for obtaining indictments and convictions against over 100 defendants charged with federal drug and drug related crimes, and for his vigorous efforts to cripple the drug trade in the Capital District. Paul later handled appeals for the government before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
He was a dedicated volunteer for the Hudson Fire Department's JW Hoysradt Hose and Chemical Company #8, Greenport Rescue Squad and Valatie Rescue Squad. He also spent many hours working with the dogs at the Columbia-Greene Humane Society.
Paul is survived by his wife of 40 years, Maryann; his children, Joseph (Corinne) Silver and Lizzie (Austin) Silver; siblings, Judy McCall, Lynn Silver, Richard (Toni) Koweek, Jim (Annette) Koweek and Joan (Gary) Koweek; step-siblings, Leslie Block, Greg Ives and Cliff Ives; sister-in-law, Annemarie Boberg; grandson, Douglas Arthur Hughes; nieces, Mary (Vincent) Grasso, Jamie Klein, Kate McCall, Tara (Mike) Dugan, Stephanie (Matt) Koweek, Molly Koweek, Katie (Ben) Anderson and Sommer Koweek; nephews, Mike (Jennifer) McCall, David (Manoela) Koweek, Clay Koweek, Wesley Koweek, Gage Arcuri and numerous cherished cousins and friends. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Ernestine Silver, Arthur and Janice Koweek; stepmother, Rita Silver; and his best friends, Dog, Rocky and Trooper.
Passionate animal protector, beloved counselor, mentor and friend to so many, Paul will be missed by all who knew him. A celebration of Paul's life will be held at a later date.
