Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at College Hill Church of God in Christ, 6414 North 30th Street, Tampa, Florida 33610, with Superintendent Charles Davis, Pastor, Officiating.
Mrs. Hawkins was born on June 18, 1935, in Troy, Alabama to General Grant and Versie Mae Graham Caldwell.  She was a resident of Tampa for 62 years.  She was an employee of Wright’s Gourmet and retired from Lincoln Properties.
Mrs. Hawkins was a loving and devoted mother to her five biological children, five stepchildren and granddaughter that she raised as her own. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.  She was a faithful and dedicated member of College Hill Church of God in Christ and she was the Coordinator of the College Hill COGIC Food and Clothes Pantry.  Mrs. Hawkins was a joy to be around and always willing to help those in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents, General Grant, and Versie Mae Graham Caldwell; husbands, Ollie Mills and Charlie Hawkins; brothers, Willie C. Caldwell, Sr., and James Caldwell; sisters, Louise Caldwell, Juanita Baldwin, and Emma Lou Caldwell; stepsons, Angel Mills and Ronnie Mills and nephew, Arthur Hale.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful and loving memories with her daughters, Emma Harmon (Rome) and Sabrina Mills; sons, Elijah Key, Jr., Robert Key and Ellis Mills; devoted and faithful granddaughter, Mishondra Key, grandchildren, Meosha Brown and Keenan Brown; stepchildren, Mary Mills, Donnie Mills and Sandra Walker; great grandchildren, Dontarius Spigner, Brandon Ferguson, Jahmyla Dixon, Jahzara Dixon, Keevon Brown and Keelan Brown; sister, Mardine Caldwell Hale; nieces, Atlay Hale and Barbara Hale and a host of great-great grandchildren, other family members and devoted friends.

Constance was a native of Brooklyn, NY and a resident of Tampa for 12 years.  She attended Eastern District High School, New York City Technical College and York College.  She was a member of 1190 CWA Union and Alumni of NYC Tech and Empire State College.  She was employed as an Eligibility Specialist at the Human Resource Administration of NYC.
She was a published author, fine artist, poignant writer, strong authoritative figure and a loving matriarch.  She kept us safe, happy and motivated us to do better for ourselves.
She is survived by her children, Debra, Constance, Robin, Melody, George and Dionne; 20 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Ray Williams Funeral Home.  MASK RECOMMENDED.

Obituary Preview: Mr. Howard Johnson of Tampa, Fl, passed away quietly at his home on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
Howard was the third child born to Frank and Alzena Johnson.  He was a native of Tampa and grew up in Ybor City.  He was educated in the Hillsborough County School System attending Meacham and Booker T. Washington Schools.
While employed with Eastern Airlines, he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  Upon completion of his military service, he returned to Tampa and worked as a construction laborer.
Howard was an independent, fun, loving and hardworking individual.  He was very family oriented.  He loved his family, life-time companion, Mildred Wright, her children and his five nephews.
Howard was preceded in death by his father, Frank Johnson; his mother, Alzena Gyden Johnson; sister, Mary Helen Johnson Kemp; his lifelong companion, Mildred Wright; brothers, Charlie Frank Johnson, Paul Johnson and Willie A. Johnson, Sr.
Cherishing his memory and celebrating his life are his nephews, Willie A. Johnson, Jr. (Caridad), Robert Walker (Retha), Charlie Frank Johnson, Jr. (Joanne), Henry Kemp (Christine), and Frank Kemp (Michelle); stepchildren, Ronald Swinson, Elizabeth Harris, Gloria Fryer, Izeal Holton and Veronica Lawrence and a host of other relatives and friends who loved and cared for him.

Mr. Novius was born September 19th, 1957, in La Gonâve, Haiti to the late Ms. Florimise Charles and Mr. Elvius Fleurijean. He moved to the United States 40 years ago and began to live in his legacy. He was a very dedicated father and was very family oriented. He loved to make people laugh with his witty jokes and comments, followed by his big, beautiful smile. He was always a helpful man and was willing to lend a helping hand. He started his working career in the fields and then went on to become a foreman for RIPA & ASSOCIATES.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his eldest brother Lucien Flerijean.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted spouse, Patricia Fleurijean; three children, Nokens Fleurijean (Stacey), Shawntavia Fleurijean, and Patrick Fleurijean; two grandchildren Niquelle and Kayden Fleurijean; three brothers, Jacques Fleuryjean, Cerifleur Lazar, and Amirold Lazar; 2 sisters, Fleurita Fleurijean and Maunette Lazar Saintil; mother-in-law, Inell Berrien; father-in-law, Robert Berrien Sr.; a host of brother-in laws and sister- in laws; nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.

Obituary Preview: Sundiata Unniqi El also known as Clevern Owen Taylor was born December 11, 1962, in Gainesville, Florida the son of the late Cleophus Taylor and Late Geneva Thompson Taylor. Sundiata transitioned peaceful in his sleep to the Realm of Ancestors on Sunday, April 17, 2022, after long 9 months battle with illness.
Sundiata lived most of his life in Tampa-Carver City.  He graduated high school in Hawaii and immediately went into the United States Marines at 17. He worked at James A Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Florida.
Sundiata was an herbalist, healer, martial arts artist who he loved to learn and teach his children boxing, martial arts, cooking, and higher spiritual knowledge. He was a great protected, provider, amazing father, wonderful husband, and a great friend.
He loved reggae and jazz music. He was a great warrior who fought bulls. Sundiata is a powerful, warm, intelligent, and wise spirit that carried conversation with easy with all he met.
Sundiata loves his progenies and always wanted them to be their higher selves. Sundiata had wonderful, powerful thundering voices that will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Sundiata is now watching over his beloved consort, Anuket Nesert Bennu El; his three beautiful and amazing progenies and legacies, Nefer Heka El, Sekhmet El, and Ptah El.

Based on his personal relationship with God, he found the need to live a very simple and humble lifestyle. He was an avid reader of religion and politics and very passionate about is political views.
He is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Rosie Mae Hills, and Alice Hart Perry; grandfathers, Christopher Columbus Shaw Sr., and Lemoyne Hart Sr.; father, Willie James Hart Sr.; aunts, Alesia Williams, and Joyce Elaine Campbell; grand-aunt, Willie Mae Windham; uncles, Albert C. Vierie was born on October 12, 1939, to Henry and Geneva Price who preceded her in death. As a child, Vierie was raised in Fort Pierce FL where she met and married the love of her life Paul Young.  They were together for 62 years and were blessed with five children. She and her husband moved to Tampa FL in search of a better life.
Vierie completed her education in cosmetology and as a licensed practical nurse.  She was best known as a homemaker to her family which she loved dearly.
She was introduced to the Advent message by the late F.S. Keitts and was baptized into the truth in 1968 by Pastor Sloan at Mt. Calvary SDA Church where she found a church home.  Vierie settled into God’s precious word and never looked back to enter the darkness of the world she had left behind. She enjoyed her walk with God.  In his word she found a whole new way of life.  By his power she was committed to serve Him all the days of the life He had planned for her.  Favorite scriptures Ps. 90:12, Ps. 39:4, Gal 5:22-23.
Vierie is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Charles Price, and Isadora Price-Rowe; and daughter Cynthia Dawn Young.
She is survived by her husband, Paul W. Young; four children, Pylander Young (Erin), I. Vicky Harvey (Percy), Lorraine Young and Alexis Young; grandchildren, Octavius Young, Calvin Young, Carlos Young, Jeremy Gordon, Reva Graham (Antwan), Samantha Edwards (Jermaine) and Jody Harvey; great grandchildren; siblings, Mary Flemming, John Price (Odessa), Texella Adams, Susan Washington (Bernard), Mary Lee Porter, Ceola (Candy) Strong Jordan, and Delores (Tiny) Strong Cook (William);  along with a host of family and friends.

Obituary Preview: Mr. Odis C. Laster passed away Monday, April 11th, 2022. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 23rd, 2:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Ave., Tampa, FL with Pastor Isiah J. Williams, Sr., officiating.
Mr. Laster was born in Amsterdam, Georgia on September 12, 1948, to Earnest and Rosa Mae Laster. He was raised in Tampa, Florida and was the fifth oldest of eleven children. He was educated in the Hillsborough County Public Schools system. Upon graduating from Blake High School, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed at Alsco Linen & Uniform Rental Services for 37 years. He began his employment at Alsco in 1981 and retired in 2018. Odis enjoyed spending time with his family and listening to country music.
He preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Catherine Laster, Rudine Sims, and Rosa Burrow; two brothers, Willie C. Laster, and Earnest Lee Laster; sister-in-law, Wanda Lemons; brothers-in-law, Fred Sims, Sr., and Elder George Jackson, Sr.; three nieces, Corrima Albury, Priscilla Sims, and Erica Laster; two nephews, Malcolm Laster, and Eugene Laster; one great nephew, Anthony Williams; one great-great niece, Corrina Albury; and one great, great nephew, Jalen Puryear.
He leaves to cherish his memory three sisters, Earnestine White (Eugene), Lillian Jones (Rudy), and Linda Williams (Pastor Isiah Williams, Sr.); brothers, Curtis Lemons, Jr. and Jerry Laster (Renee) all of Tampa, brother in law, Deacon Bobby Burrow of Tampa, FL; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Laster of Pittsburg, PA; two aunts, Ms. Nettie Mae Harris of Attapulgus, GA and Ms. Bernice Brown of Knightdale, NC, and a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, and close friends who loved and cared about him dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Alexander; her sons, Robert Jackson, and Anthony Jackson; her daughter, Brenda Jackson; parents, J.B., and Lessie Thurman; along with 5 sisters and 1 brother.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her brothers, Horace Thurman of Detroit, MI, Willie Thurman of Tampa, FL., and James Thurman (Thelma) of Tampa, FL; goddaughter, Almeta Mcnear (Joe); godson, Grady Snell Jr., and wife; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and very special friends, Ms. Brenda, Ms. Vergil Frazier, Ms. Cynthia Dixon (John), and Ms. Gloria Thorton.
Mrs. Alexander was a very lively woman who enjoyed many activities such as fishing, dancing, telling jokes and spending quality time with friends and family. Her favorite saying was “My name is TUFF and I live on tough street. The further down the block you go, the tougher they get, and I stay in the last house on the left”.

A resident of Tampa, Florida he retired after 30 years of dedicated service as a truck driver for Nottingham Company in Plant City, Florida. He united with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church serving on the deacon board and singing in the male choir.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Ernestine Hamilton Dunn; son, Victor Dunn; sisters, Julia Dunn, Paris Anderson, Luvenia Dunn Jefferson, Essie Mae Dunn, Annie Ola Dunn, Jordan, Margaret L. Eddie was a very loving and encouraging person.  Always pushing others to do their best.  He always gave to anyone in need.  He had a heart for the homeless.  He loved good food, cooking, being around family, but most of all, his quiet time where he normally reflected on his life.  He loved his children.

Deacon Gilbert, Jr. was a native of Marianna, FL, and a resident of Tampa for 59 years.  He was a member of Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church.
Deacon Gilbert, Jr. was born on February 5, 1944, in Marianna, FL to Mr. Charles B. Gilbert, Sr. and Louise Gilbert.  At a young age, he accepted the Lord as his Savior.  He attended Jackson County Training School, graduated in 1962 and came to Tampa from Marianna after graduation.  In Tampa, he met Altamease and later married on July 17, 1966, and to this union three beautiful children were born. He worked as a Crane Operator for 30 plus years at David J. Joseph Steel Company.
He came to Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church in October 1964.  Later in life, he became a Deacon.  Deacon Gilbert, Jr. was a strong, hard-working, dedicated family man who loved the Lord with all his heart and with all his mind.  He kept his mind stayed on the Lord until the very end.
Deacon Gilbert, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, and two nephews, Mr. Edward Sims and Mr. Darrell Gilbert.
He leaves to cherish his memories:  his devoted wife of 55 years, Mrs. Altamease Gilbert; sons, Mr. Charles R. Gilbert and Mr. Dennis A. Gilbert; daughter, Mrs. Wendy L. Mrs. Carolyn Yvette Miller was born in Pamplico, South Carolina on April 9, 1941.  She was the fourth child of Hannibal and Zelma Gainey and moved to Tampa, Florida at a young age.  She attended the Hillsborough County Public Schools and graduated from Middleton High School, Class of 1959.  Mrs. Miller obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida in 1989.  She was employed with the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department for over 30 years and served in a leadership capacity for the majority of her employment.
Mrs. Miller met the love of her life, Robert, in High School and they were married in 1961. To this union was born her only child, Robert “Bobby” Jr.  Mrs. Miller was an active member of Victory AME Church (formally St. James AME Church) for over 50 years.  Carolyn wore many hats and was passionate about serving God through her service to others. She was the Director of Project Focus, a tutoring program at the church for children in the community.  She held several offices in the Lay Organization.  She led the Culinary Ministry, was an Usher and also sang in the Choir.  Mrs. Miller was known for her “strut” and fashioning her “big hats”.  Carolyn had a big heart and was willing to help anyone in need.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by: her parents, Hannibal and Zelma Gainey; husband, Robert; sisters, Ruby McDowell and Laura Thomas; brother, William Gainey; brothers-in-law, Charles Thomas and Bernard Benton.
Left to cherish Carolyn’s memories are: her son, Robert Miller Jr.; sisters, Virgie Anglin (Billy), Katie Booher and Bridget Gainey Benton; brother, Dennis Gainey (Rose); sister-in-law, Thelma Gainey; close friend, Brenda Thompson; god-daughter, Arlene Brown; neighbor, Elijah Carr; like a second mother, Sallie Holmes and a host of other relatives and friends.

Lalita was born on September 15,1947 to Mary Wilson and Jessie Lee Wilson. She was the youngest of three children: siblings, Rubye and Ernest Rogers Wilson.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Jessie Lee Wilson and Mary Wilson; sister, Rubye Kilpatrick and brother, Ernest Rogers Wilson.
Lalita Watkins attended Elementary and Middle Schools in Hillsborough County and was a graduate of Middleton High School.  Lalita was a Dietetic Technician at Memorial Hospital for 15 years, and a Teacher Assistant with the Hillsborough County School District for 15 years until her retirement.  She was a member of Greater Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist Church and an Honorary Member of Empowered By The Word Ministries in Tampa.
She will be affectionately remembered for her gentle spirit, laughter, and radiant smile that always made you feel welcome.  She was always a joy to be around and a helping hand to those who loved and knew her. Lalita was a loyal and devoted wife and mother who treasured spending time with her loved ones.  Some of her favorite pastimes were photography and scrapbooking to capture precious moments.
For 53 years, Lalita was the devoted wife of Mr. Harry J. Watkins, III, whom she married on December 21,1969.  Lalita was the love of Harry’s life and the couple enjoyed spending quality time together taking long drives and relaxing at the beach.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted husband, Harry J. Watkins; four loving daughters, Anika Coney (Ernest), Kai Jenkins (Josephus), Ngina Watkins (Antonio), and Katrya Watkins; Goddaughter, who was much like her daughter, Jordan English; loving and proud grandmother to Nyla Styles, Shelby Coney, Kylen Passmore, Kailey Jenkins, Cason Lee Kennedy, Kody and Kyndall Jenkins, Cameron Kennedy, Cali Kennedy, and Milani Boyd of Tampa, Florida; cousin, Cynthia Carey, who was as close as a sister, of Atlanta, Georgia; Marvin Knight, who was like a brother, of Tampa, Florida; The Wilson, Watkins, and Haywood families and a host of loving family members, church members and friends.
