Patricia Tucker Flowers - October 25, 1963 - January 10, 2022

Departed: 01/10/2022 (Asheville)
Obituary Preview: The Daughter and Mother, Patricia Athena “Tina” Flowers’ love of life didn’t come to an end with her death. Her boundaries were unlimited as she utilized her God given talents to touch and change the lives of others. Ms. Patricia “Tina” Flowers was born October 25, 1963, in Asheville, North Carolina to Charlie Tucker, Jr., and Claudia Morgan Tucker. As she lay in her room at Mission Hospital, she quietly grasped the hands of the angels and transitioned to her Heavenly Home on January 10, 2022, after a courageous battle with kidney disease and other medical issues, surrounded by her loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Tina graduated from A C Reynolds High School and furthered her education at Kings College in Charlotte where she studied Medical Office Terminology. She worked in that field as a technician for several years until she decided to settle into her first love, becoming a chef. She was a devoted and attentive daughter to her parents, a loving mother to her son, a dedicated sister to her brother and sister-in-law, a caring aunt to her nieces and nephews, and a compassionate friend to her church and community. Tina was the overseer for the Food Program at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church and even if she was not having the best day, she could be found at the Center giving out food. When Covid-19 was at its most critical point, she passed out flyers letting the people in the communities know when she would be there, loaded boxes and passed them out so the people would not be lacking and have enough food. If there was a funeral or any other event where food was needed, hers was the first face you would see. Her smile was infectious, and you could hear her laugh above others. Her words were always, “What do you need?” There was always a crowd, because her food was delicious and there was always a line of people to eat.
Patricia Athena “Tina” Flowers was initiated as a member of Daughters of Zion Chapter No. 2 OES on December 6, 2013. With the skills and passion of food preparation, we knew “Tina” was already predestined and following the path of community service prior to her ever becoming a member of an OES Chapter. Projects she had already spearheaded became a team effort with her as the executive chef and the members of the Order willingly followed her lead and expertise. Tina was not just a cook; She used and refined her skills and passion as an executive chef. She was a leader and could easily manage a kitchen staff and control the costs with the suppliers so she could get the “most” and the “best”. She loved catering the food for the St. James Grand Lodge Sessions and the Meetings. Tina collected the food from various Food Banks, served meals to the Veterans monthly, the Rescue Mission, and provided meals for the Youth in the church and community during Summer Camp. She was always busy. In June 2021, Tina sponsored a Kidney Benefit Drive, which not only assisted in her needs, but in others also. Not only did the Benefit raise money, but it served to raise the awareness of keeping the kidneys healthy, being a donor, and was a day of fun, food, and fellowship for all. Tina loved the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church and worked diligently and was faithful in her attendance until her health prevented her from going. She was a member of the Missionary Society, and the Kitchen Committee, and looked forward to preparing meals for all the special days at the church.
Preceding her in death was her Paternal Aunt, Peggy Ann Tucker, Paternal Uncle Jesse David Tucker, Maternal Aunts, Betty Boyd (Ernest), Lessie Belle Williams (Macke), Annie Mae Morgan, Alberta Weston, and Nieces, Darlene Morgan and Louise, Nephews-Franklin, Larry, Randell, and Kenneth.
