Dr. Terry E. McRoberts - May 20, 1933 - July 16, 2022

Departed: 07/16/2022 (Skippack)
Obituary Preview: Terry E. McRoberts, D.D.S., 89, of Sellersville, PA, and Jackson, Wyoming, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Grand View Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Kathy (Ziegler) McRoberts to whom he was married for over 41 years.Born at home on May 20, 1933, in Blawnox, PA, he was the first of three sons of the late Earl and Rose (Robertson) McRoberts. While his father was serving in the Merchant Marines in WWll, his mother managed to purchase a small farm in Ivywood, PA. She and Terry worked at “modernizing” the old farmhouse for the growing family by digging out a basement by hand, bucket by bucket, and finally getting indoor plumbing and electric. Early education for Terry was around the corner in a one-room schoolhouse complete with outdoor plumbing. In 1951 he graduated from Winfield-Clinton High School where he was student council president, vice president of his class, and voted “most likely to succeed.” Even in those early days, Terry knew what he wanted to do with his life. In his yearbook, the 1951 Class Prophecy read, “Terry has completed his course at Pitt, as a full-fledged dentist he sure is fit. His own office patients from all over town, fillings and extractions will never get him down.”With the help of a senatorial scholarship, a gift from his grandfather, working multiple jobs, and with the support from his wife Lucy while in dental school, Terry fulfilled undergraduate requirements and dental school in six years. In 1957 he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry as Terry E. McRoberts, D.D.S. During his time at Pitt he also managed to follow his love of baseball and played for the university team. After graduation, he served a year in a highly regarded and sought-after rotating dental internship at Brook Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas. From 1959 through 1961 he became Chief Prosthetic Officer in the U.S. Army, based in Baumholder, Germany. Following his discharge from the army, Terry began his private dental practice in Lansdale, PA in 1962. Soon thereafter he and his highly respected and valued partner, Dr. Charles Deutermann, built and developed Brookwood Dental to become one of the most successful practices in the area. Dr. McRoberts fondly became better known as “Dr. Mac” in the office. He was active in the local Toast Masters Club, Pennsylvania Dental Association, and was past president of the Philadelphia Dental Clinic Club.In 1976, Terry limited his practice to Orthopedic Gnathologics, a functional non-extraction approach to orthodontics. His skill, standard of care, innovative appliance designs, and attention to detail developed full, beautiful smiles for his patients, adults, and children alike. Terry was very active in the American Academy of Gnathologic Orthopedics (A.A.G.O.), was a member of the Board of Governors, and received his A.A.G.O. Diplomate Degree in 1987. He was one of four A.A.G.O. members selected to develop, author, and teach an annual Four Session Series on Orthodontics and Gnathologic Orthopedics Using Crozats and other appliances. Terry authored numerous articles in the Journal of Gnathologic Orthopedics, lectured and presented clinics to a variety of dental associations, study clubs, and annual meetings across the country. In 1994 the A.A.G.O. presented him with the Case of the Year award and in 1997 he was given the Wiebrecht Award, the highest honor the A.A.G.O. bestows.Terry was a man of many interests which he pursued with gusto. Gardening was one of his favorites. The old saying of, you can take the boy out of the farm but you can’t take the farm out of the boy, rang very true for him. The bigger the garden, the better. And, while some people have a few books on gardening, Terry had a library. Golf was another love which he played often after the spring gardening was done of course. Again, in his pursuit of the game, he became a student of the game, watching many videos, reading books, going to golf schools, and even buying some of the “golf gadgets” that supposedly make your game better. Other outdoor favorites were camping, hiking, backpacking, and skiing, all of which led Terry and Kathy to having their home in Wyoming over the last 35 years. One of his major goals in Wyoming was to climb The Grand Teton, which he did at the age of 73. Model train collecting, fixing, rebuilding, repainting, etc. consumed “indoor” time and was one of his greatest long-time passions. While Terry built large permanent and ambitious train platforms, his real love was sitting at his workbench tinkering and fixing the trains, adding smokers or whistles, changing couplers, or anything that needed to get done to make the train run smoothly. He also did this on a much larger scale with old Farmall Cub tractors that looked like they had been left out in the field during its long life on the farm. Terry dissembled, stripped down, sandblasted, fixed, primed, and painted these tractors until showroom ready. He was proud of his work and what he accomplished. He led a full life.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kelly Interrante and her husband, Joe, Eric McRoberts and his wife, Roxanne, Tracy Dell and her husband, Bob; his first wife and loving family member, Lucille McRoberts; his brother Paul McRoberts; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.Terry was predeceased by his son Thor McRoberts, and his brother Daniel McRoberts.Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 3440 Skippack Pike Skippack, PA 19474, where friends may greet the family from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Central Schwenkfelder Church Garden Of Memories in Worcester.

Richard A. Nichol - December 18, 1939 - July 15, 2022

Departed: 07/15/2022 (Skippack)
Obituary Preview: Richard A. Nichol, 82, of Orchard Park, NY, went home to our Lord on July 15, 2022. Richard and his high school sweetheart at Collegeville – Trappe High School, Dolores, were residents of Harleysville, PA for almost 60 years. Dolores met Nick, her nickname for him, in 10th grade, and even though he couldn’t dance, his sense of humor and nice car won her over. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in June. Born December 18, 1939, in Jeffersonville, PA, he was a son of the late Robert Nichol, Sr.. and Mary (Shulby) Nichol. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Richard spent most of his young life in Skippack, biking for miles on his paper route, camping in the woods, fishing and racing his adored brother Bobby home from school for Mary’s fudge. He was a successful businessman, having opened a barbershop with Bobby and then later, Nichol Bros. Auto Sales. The brothers also had a harness horse racing business, a hobby that let them indulge their love of horses and the track. For the last four decades of Richard’s work life, he ran Richard Nichol Recon, a car wholesaling business. Richard worked hard but he loved every minute of it, especially representing his cars on the auction block. He took great pride in the fact that when the gavel dropped, it was likely his car brought a premium because of his reputation for quality reconditioning work. Richard and his family were long-time members of Trinity Christian United Church of Christ. After retirement he volunteered there on the Property Committee. He enjoyed watching his Philadelphia Eagles play football, golfing and shooting pool, activities all made better by “a little wager.” While he knew more about cars than just about anyone, his true superpower was knowing where to get “the BEST” food. The BEST ring bologna – Zerns. The BEST fasnachts (PA Dutch donuts) – Giant in Souderton. The BEST milkshake – Specs (Chocolate, no syrup!). Few things brought this man more joy than a well-made Philly cheese steak (onions, cheese, sauce and no peppers!) In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kelly McDonald and her husband, Kevin, and their sons, Jack and Will, of Dallas, TX; and Tracy Friedman and her husband, Rick, of Buffalo, NY. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Nichol, Jr and his wife, Jane, of Harleysville, PA. He loved giving his much-loved daughters advice, busting his valued son-in-laws’ chops and bragging about his treasured grandsons’ accomplishments and character. He was generous with his cherished family in all things but TV watching. When it came to TV, at his house or theirs, he controlled the flicker. Richard’s quick wit which allowed him to make friends so easily was inherited by his grandsons. They will continue his legacy of cracking up the whole table at dinner. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 10am on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Trinity Christian United Church of Christ, 2009 Church Road, Skippack, PA. Because of Covid 19, the family will not be greeting attendees in a receiving line nor hosting a luncheon, but know they are very appreciative of the opportunity to share space in the church with those who cared for Richard. The family respectfully requests that everyone wear a mask at the service. Burial, which will follow in the adjoining church cemetery, will be a private ceremony for just immediate family. For those desiring, contributions may be made in his memory to Roswell Comprehensive Cancer Center at https://www.roswellpark.org/giving/donate/honor-memorial-gifts or Trinity Christian United Church of Christ at https://www.paypal.com/donate?token=h1WFByvJbcgXPvdAxBISB9FZSuTjujGH096aywt9SVxO9fD8qh4CLguu_BcSVYgP5AzVOBrU03-ea3xI. Funeral arrangements are by the R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. of Skippack, PA.
