Obituary Preview: Michael Lee Townes, 61 died Friday April 8, 2022 in the care of Hospice in Dayton, Ohio. Michael was born February 18, 1961 in Chatham Virginia to Clarence and Coriene Townes who precedes him in death. Michael was an Army Veteran from 1978 to 1980 where he was in Infantry and reached the rank of E3.  He was honorably discharged. Mike or “Chilly Pimp” as he was affectionately called by many, was a very funny and loving guy who always had a smile on his face.  Even when he was down he still could make others laugh. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Mike is preceded in death by grandparents Clarence Sr. and Cassie Townes, 2 brothers, Jimmy and Fred Townes. Mike is survived by his children Lamar Coles, Taquandra Alexander, Ashawnti Townes, Breonna Townes, Michael Jr, Trey Warr, Jerray Woods, Ersell and Saundiago Smith, 9 grandchildren (with special grandchild, Zorie Alexander) Brothers Richard (Darla) Turner, Stephen Townes, Timothy Townes and sister Rezesta Townes, 3 Uncles   Tommy, Ronnie, and Chris and a host of nieces and nephews and close friend LaShawn Warr-Townes and family.

He departed this life on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Tim graduated from Dunbar High School, class of 1970, after high school he worked for Holiday Inn South and Smith Funeral Home. Tim was also Road Manager for the Ohio Player's. During later years he worked for St Vincent DePaul. Tim was an avid sports fan. He also knew a little bit about everything. Loving and caring, yet direct. You didn't have to guess what he was thinking....he would tell you. Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Rosella Gibson; his father, James Gibson; brother J. Richard Gibson; and grandmother, Vela McFarland. Lamar Perry, Sr. - February 19, 1963 - March 21, 2022

Obituary Preview: PERRY, Mr. Lamar, Sr., passed away Monday, March 21, 2022 at his residence. Lamar attended Schumacher Elementary School and graduated from John R. Buchtel High School in Akron, Ohio.  He truly loved sports! He was a pillar at playing football and track/field.  He also played Little League Baseball where he received many accolades.  At a young age, Lamar accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior by baptism at Antioch Baptist Church, Akron, Ohio. His faith in Christ was honorable and commendable.  After high school graduation in 1983, Lamar joined the United States Marines Corp and served active duty for four years.  He was recognized as an “Honorable Veteran”.  Lamar was self- employed and quite an entrepreneur. He was well-known for his carpentry and flooring skills.  He often made the comment, “a woman loves a man that is good with his hands.” Lamar loved his family.  He often travelled and spent as much time as he could with his family. He loved cooking and eating. Lamar had an extraordinary love for music. He played his harmonica so well as though he was performing at a musical concert.  Lamar was loved by many. He made his transition to eternal life on March 21st, 2022.  He leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Rashiem Devine Briggs (Raleigh, North Carolina), Lamar Perry Jr. (Decatur, Georgia), Robinson William Perry (Cincinnati, Ohio); daughter, Jessica Elaine Hanna (Atlanta, Georgia); sister, Lynette Williams (Glenn Heights, Texas); brother, Lance Perry (Monique Ortiz Perry) (Arlington, Texas); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Obituary Preview: Robert  Lee Shepherd, 74 of Dayton, Ohio peacefully passed away March 17, 2022 due to a long battle with cancer. He was born in Greenville, Alabama on July 16, 1947.  He was born to Arthur and Irene Shepherd.  He loved to do landscaping and handyman work.
He is preceded in death by his mother Irene Shepherd, father Arthur Shepherd, Sr., and Willie James Shepherd.
He resided in Dayton, OH since the early 60s. He was a gentle spirited man who never complained. He was loved by everyone and never knew a stranger. He was always willing to help others when called upon.  Robert will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his lifelong companion Diane Cox, daughter Rochelle(Issa) Johnson-Kabore , grandchildren Kaisha Ballard, Tierra Johnson, Bobby Gulley; 8 great grandchildren, siblings Georgeann Palmer, Arthur(Brenda) Shepherd Jr, Ethel Mae La’mar, Willie James Shepherd; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friend and neighbor Jacqueline Cockrell.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church, 805 Huron Ave, Dayton, OH 45402. Officiated by:  Pastor Ralph Guy

Kha'Lani Anaya Robinson - October 12, 2021 - February 25, 2022

Obituary Preview: Kha’lani, born at only 11lb 10 oz was a fighter, surpassing many of the limitation that the providers placed on her because of her size. Though she was here for a short time she had a beautiful presence that was memorable. She was an angelic soul, very calm and peaceful. She loved all the attention that she could get during her short time here, and she immediately became the most amazing cuddle bug. Kah’lani was a beautiful gentle quiet baby who was very attune to her surroundings. Though she was actively learning to use her small voice, she would become quiet during the time of prayer and worship. Kha’lani was a wonderful blessing. Kha’lani is forever coupled in death to her mother Shawana Robinson. She leaves to endlessly cherish her quiet but powerful impact Media Robinson, Lay’onna Robinson, Exzavierion Robinson and a host of relatives who will forever be changed by the presence of this tiny fighter. Funerals Services were held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Victory In Power Ministries. Private interment at a later date.

Mildred Pou - June 24, 1929 - February 23, 2022

Obituary Preview: Mildred Marie Pou entered eternal rest peacefully on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.  She was born June 24, 1929 in Waynesboro, Mississippi to the late David P. Warren and Lee Girtha Raines Warren.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist church in Waynesboro, where her father served as Deacon and her mother played piano.
Over the years, her mother taught her to become an avid seamstress, sewing clothes for her siblings and children.  She also perfected crocheting and knitting.  Mildred loved cooking, baking and eating!  Her specialty was pound cake.
While in Mississippi, she was introduced by her brother Eddie to the love of her life, Milton Pou, who served in the U.S. Army.  In 1953, they were married and soon moved to Dayton, OH, where they raised their family.  They often traveled back and forth to Mississippi and other adventures including cruises, camping and flying.
After an extensive search, Mildred found her church home at Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist church where she remained a member until present.  It has played an integral part in building her walk of faith through the years.  Due to failing health, she was no longer able to attend in person service.  She worked in hospitality for the Veterans Administration hospital and retired after over 15 years of service.
Mildred was the last surviving member of the union of David and Lee Girtha Warren.  She was the eldest child.  Mildred is preceded in death by her 6 siblings: Prince Warren, Emma Shepherd, Sarah Barnes, Peggy Turner, Eddie C. Warren and David Frederick Warren.
She is survived by son, Erasmus C. Pou, daughters, Glenda J. Williams, Kimberly M. Wilson, stepdaughter, Jane Ellen Ellis, grandchildren, Katoya Wilson, Kyra Wilson, Regina Harrison, Romero Pou, Randall Pou and Alex Pou, great granddaughter Kyrie Wilson and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends.
Mildred was truly a beautiful spirit whose desire was to always put a smile on anyone’s face.  Her kisses, laughter and smile were felt by all who knew her.  She will be deeply missed.  We are so thankful for the time we and others have had with her.  We release her to God for we know that we will see her again. Rev. Valentine confessed Christ at an early age and was called into the ministry.  In 2000, he was united in holy matrimony to Pearlie Rodgers.  Rev. Valentine had a love for music, and played faithfully in gospel groups until he became ill.

He loved to read, he read the Bible from beginning to end several times. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. While Philip lived in Dayton he helped with the veterans and the homeless. He was a complex person and will be missed by the people that truly knew him. Philip was born on July 2, 1948 to Rolland D. and Lela Brown Alley. He grew up in Morrow, Ohio and attended Little Miami High School. Philip joined the United States Army in 1965 after basic training he was deployed to Germany, then to Vietnam where he served for thirteen months. Philip is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dewey M. Alley; sister-in-law, Louetta Campbell Alley; brother-in-law, David R. Wallingford. He is survived by sister, Linda Alley Wallingford of Peebles, Ohio; brother, Michael P. (Jeri) Alley of Lebanon, Ohio, David A. Danny lived a good life and created many memories with his family and friends. Danny was very skilled, he could fix and put anything together. Danny worked for many years with his longtime friends Dewell Foster and Mike Elijah doing home rehabs. Danny loved gambling, on any given night you could find him playing a game of tonk or spades. You have to watch him though because he would cheat. Danny was the man back in the day when he caught the eye Phyllis Defurr who became a forever support system, mother to six of his kids, and friend. Danny loved his entire family, especially his kids with emphasis on his sons, that kept him feeling young. You could catch Danny in a suit with dress shoes just because he wanted to. He was a self-proclaimed grill master, no one could ever tell him anything about the grill. Danny loved a good old cookout with some barbeque he always wanted all his children, grandchildren, and entire family in attendance. She loved to cook and devoted her time to her grandkids, family and friends. Keisha made sure everybody was good one way or another; she was the type that would give you her last....and then some. She was very fierce! She would move out of Dayton in a minute...and come right back months later. Dayton was her home, and she just loved to travel - that's all. Keisha had been ill a lot of her adult life, but with God's grace she gave us a beautiful 46 years of her life. Theresa is survived by her (daughter) Iisha (Hulett) Lewis and husband (Da’Sean) of Dayton,  Ohio and a very precious grandson Da’Sean Jr., 2 brother’s John Paul Gribble of Cuyahoga Falls,  Ohio and Donald Berger and wife (Diann) of Lake Anna, Virginia.
Nephew, Andrew Berger of Dayton, Ohio/San Francisco, California, niece, Leah (Berger) Breeden  husband Damon and Great nephew Oscar of Dayton, Ohio/Ecuador, South America. Sisters in  Law, Mary Beth (Berger) Karceski and husband Ed of Maderia Beach, Florida, Diann Berger,  Barbara Jean Berger of Defiance, Ohio in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, other extended  family, friends and her beloved companion dog “Snoop”. All will miss her dearly.
After a long and challenging journey our friend, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother Theresa has arrived at her final destination in Heaven may she rest in peace in the arms of Our Lord.
