Obituary Preview: Dustin Alexander "Big D" Coats, age 52, of Kingsport, TN, passed away early Friday morning May 19, 2023 while at the Holston Valley Medical Center following complications from recent surgery. Dustin was born in Sullivan County, TN on April 28, 1971 the son of the late David and Brenda Reedy Coats. He was a 1989 Graduate of Sullivan North High School where he was known as the Kicker with one "Golden Toe" while playing football, soccer and also baseball. He was a member of Gravelly Baptist Church where he was a softball player on the church team and helped with the youth with in the church. Dustin was previously employed with Airgas before moving over to Eastman Chemical Company. Dustin's true love and passion was outdoors. He was a highly skilled, valuable, Hunting Pro staff member of 3B Outdoors since its inception 16 years ago. He would do anything to help, including manning the camera for both hunting and fishing adventures. Freddie Neeley, Nathan Light and the entire 3B Outdoors Team loved him as a brother, as he did them. There will be no replacing him, his infectious smile, love of life and the outdoors. Preceded in death by his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Richard, who passed away April 7, 2023, and Bailey (his Lab) He is survived by a niece: Haley Deel (Hunter) of Gray, TN nephew: Jordan Coats of Kingsport, TN 3 great nieces: Norah Deel, Jaclyn Meade Coats and Willow Coats His "brothers by a different mother" Shawn Falin, Jerry Gilliam, Nathan Light, Freddie Neeley, Robbie Arnold and Chad Salyer along with many, many other friends way to numerous to list. Bonnie was born on Wallens Creek on August 10, 1933. Her parents were Ed and Mary Rebecca Davis. Her mother passed away of TB in 1937. Bonnie was raised by her grandmother Rachel Webb Davis. Bonnie married Glen R. Shuler in June 1948. They raised 5 children together. They lived in Right Poor Valley throughout their marriage except for a few years they lived in Indiana. Bonnie worked many jobs over the years. She was a homemaker raising and loving her children through hard times. Bonnie and Glen raised tobacco for many years and also helped other people with theirs also. They started as custodians at the First Baptist Church in Pennington Gap in 1970. They also did the United Methodist Church ending in 1995. She was a housekeeper for people all over the county becoming friends with them all. She was a caregiver, taking care of many people in the county. She would also sit in the hospital with many patients and also in their homes. She was a kind and loving person always reaching out to help those in need. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen R. Shuler; her son, Gary Lynn Shuler; her infant brother, Berly James Davis; her parents, Ed and Mary Rebecca Davis; her grandmother, Rachel Webb Davis; her uncle, Tobe Davis and wife Jennie Davis; her uncle, Haburn Davis; and many other uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. She is survived by her children, Richard Leo Shuler, Mary Sue Shuler Mase and husband Joe, Debbie Gail Shuler Short, and Billy Jerome Shuler; grandchildren, Stacey Lynn Kirk and husband Bucky, Amanda Suzanne Short, Derek Jerome Shuler, Gary Christopher Allen Shuler; great grandchildren, Rylie Kirk, Tucker Kirk, Aidan Kirk, Sawyer Kirk, Wyatt Kirk; along with many nieces and nephews.
