John Quattro - April 23, 1950 - May 07, 2024

Departed: 05/07/2024 (Waterbury)
Obituary Preview: It is with heavy hearts that the Quattro family announce the sudden passing of their dear husband and father John Quattro.  John Quattro, 74, of Middlebury died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Waterbury Hospital.  He was the loving husband of Diane (Coelho) Quattro for a wonderful 42 years and the doting father of Tarah (Quattro) Olsen and Danielle (Quattro) Kostandini, all of Middlebury.
Born April 23, 1950 in Waterbury, a son of the late John L. and Victoria (Rosa) Quattro.  John was truly loved by all who knew him.  He made friends wherever he went, always striking up conversations and turning strangers into friends.  As a Davenport machinist, he made endearing friendships with his coworkers.  John was a proud Army veteran.  Never one for public speaking, John engaged the students this past Veteran’s Day at Middlebury Elementary School sharing his experience and knowledge of his time in the Army.  It was a very proud day for his grandchildren.
If you know John, you know his “69 stang”.  The aquamarine metallic fastback Mustang was his pride and joy.  John loved spending time working on his cars and attending local car shows with his son in law Tim and his car buddies.  John was not a father “in law”, he treated his son-in-laws Jeff and Tim like they were of his own.  He was overjoyed that his “girls” fell in love with good men. Having grandchildren to dote over and spend precious time with was the icing on the cake.
Family was John’s treasure.  Raising his two daughters brought him immeasurable joy.  Tarah and Danielle have countless memories with their dad.  Including car shows with the mustang, Red Sox games, fishing, vacations to Hampton Beach, watching UCONN basketball, stringing parts for work, and most recently a very special trip to Boston for the Celtics.  Since moving to Middlebury, with their children, Diane and John amassed many sweet moments, especially in their three season room listening to thunderstorms and catching glimpses of the wildlife that frequent the backyard.  Finding the love of his life, Diane, and spending his days in the company of his bride, his daughters and as “GranDude” or “Dude” to his grandchildren made John exceedingly happy.  Nothing brought John more joy than attending activities his grandchildren were involved in, from softball to basketball and soccer,  to martial arts and even ballet, or just driving them anywhere they needed to be.  Although no one knew May 7, 2024 would be his last day with them, John leaves a beautiful tapestry of treasured memories and love with each member of his family and friends.  Husband, Father, “GranDude”, Brother, Uncle and Friend- John was truly one of the best.
Beside his loving wife Diane, John leaves his daughters Tarah (Jeff) Olsen and Danielle (Tim) Kostandini and adoring grandchildren: Evelyn, Nora, Theo, Mila and Vilkas.  He also leaves his sister Maria Galante of Waterbury, brothers Domenic (Barbara) of Waterbury and Robert( Dominic) of Southington as well as his sister-in-law Jacquelyn (Tom) Wirth of FL and David (Kelly) Coelho of VT and nieces Jennifer and Rachel and nephews Todd, Joel, and Sam.  Although John had many friends, Bennie Rosado, Albert and Gail Manna, Greg Beausoleil, and Pete Meskunas were almost always with him.
Friends and family are invited to share time with John’s family on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 5pm to 7pm at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect.   A celebration of life service will begin at 7pm with military honors to follow.  Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to be caring for John and his family throughout this difficult journey of grief.  Please share your favorite memories, photos and condolences on John’s Tribute wall at www.prospectmemorial.com.
