Obituary Preview: Rose Ann Payne, an esteemed veteran, devoted public servant, and steadfast Catholic, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 30, 2024, at East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie, LA, at the age of 83. A native of New Orleans, Rose Ann's life was a testament to faith, service, and community. She proudly served her country in the Women Army Corps and later as a civilian in the U.S. Coast Guard, embodying courage and dedication throughout her military and civilian endeavors. Rose Ann's faith was central to her life. As an active member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for several decades, she contributed tirelessly to her parish community and led numerous pilgrimages worldwide, inspiring others with her unwavering devotion.
She is survived by her beloved sisters, Sandra Appleberry and Gwendolyn Payne-Ferrand; brothers, Wendell, Warrenson, Albert, Lucien, Reginald, Burnell, Bobby, and Eugene; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
Rose Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Rose Mary Smith and Warren Payne Sr.; and 3 siblings, Gloria Veal, Michael Payne, and Warren Payne Jr. In her passing, Rose Ann leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and love that will continue to inspire generations to come. May she rest in eternal peace.

Gloria recently joined Changing Lives Church in New Orleans, under the leadership of Pastor James Arrington. She was a member of Galilee Baptist Church where she was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Thomas Taylor. She was also an avid member of Second Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. John Henderson, Jr.
Gloria was educated in the Orleans Parish School System, and she worked at Charity Hospital for 33 years. She married the love of her life, Anthony Cole on November 8, 1997, and they are now reunited in heaven.

Clara Bell Armstrong - March 21, 1942 - April 19, 2024

Obituary Preview: Clara Bell Armstrong was born March 21, 1942, in Woodville, Mississippi. She was the youngest of four children born to the late Jimmy Armstrong and the late Laura Armstrong. Clara transitioned from this life to live eternally with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the age of 82.
She is survived by six children, Oliver Armstrong (Carolyn), Kevin James, Annie James, Christopher Armstrong, Ricky Lee (Lisa), and Rodney Armstrong (Drema). She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Laura Armstrong; three siblings, Mary Green (the late Melvin Green), Luecendia Reed, and Johnny Armstrong (the late Evelyn Armstrong); and a son, Kenneth Armstrong (Cynthia).
In addition to her immediate family, Clara leaves behind a legacy of love and connection with her extended church family. A faithful member of Shiloh Christian Fellowship, she served as President of the Usher board, and enjoyed spending Sunday’s worshipping with her church family.
Clara began working at a young age and had various jobs throughout her lifetime. Many remember her fondly from years spent working as a caregiver in multiple settings. In her personal life, Clara enjoyed being with family, visiting casinos, playing pitty pat, and playing bingo.
Though Clara may no longer walk with us, her spirit lives on in the memories we hold dear. If you knew her, you loved her. She will be deeply missed by all fortunate enough to have known her.

Family is what he cared about most of al. He had missed so many milestones over that period of time and was happy to be free and enjoying the simple things in life. He loved visiting his aunts and uncles, especially Leroy, J &Lola B., going to bingo with his sisters, playing poker with his buddies, hanging out & sharing memories with his brothers &his neighbor Mr. Bob, but most of al playing scrabble with his only grandchild. On Friday, April 19, 2024 at the age of 68, he was called home to be with our Lord &Savior. He was a hard worker and was employed at Audubon Retirement Village. Damien K. Dickerson was a hardworking, loving companion, father, brother, cousin, friend and most importantly family man. His children and family were everything to him. All three kids attended the same elementary school, and everyone from the crossing guard to the security guard, cafeteria ladies, teachers who never even taught his kids, and administrators knew who he was, and which students belonged to him. He wanted to chaperone every field trip with his children. Damien loved to have a good time and was upset whenever he had to miss out on a family function. Damien also never met a stranger. To know him was to love him. His children were his pride and joy. He was most proud of being a soon to be “Pawpaw” to his first grandchild. A baby girl who he was already talking about “bringing her everywhere” and buying her a four-wheeler once she arrived. Dee was funny, very sensitive, loved getting on your nerves and loved himself some Tweety! Tweety and Dee were in love for over 25 years, they started as High School Sweethearts. Dee and Tweety experienced something many people pray to experience and that is TRUE Genuine LOVE, He loved her until death and was in love with her since the beginning. That love never wavered. Tweety would always say Dee is the love of her life, and that he was, and she was the Love of his life. He’ll be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
