After his education endeavors, he worked for Colonial Rubber from 1986-1993, Firestone from 1993-2011, and GSE/Soulmax from 2012- 2024. Michael loved fishing and working on small projects.
He married the love of his life Thretha in the year 1990 and they were together for 37 years. Michael Boyd was a very strong man that helped anyone. He had a very good sense of humor; however, he always spoke the truth. Michael was always known to be a loving person and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents Julius Boyd and Hazel Fulmore; two sisters Jacquelyn Boyd, and Mary Brown, and three brothers, Richard Blanding, Elijah Miller, and Donnie Miller. He is survived by his wife, Thretha Boyd; three children, Michael (Tabashia) Boyd Jr., Charlotte, N.C, Tiffany Boyd, Salters, S.C, Domonick McDowell, Florence, S.C, and Shamary(Nikkie) Seabrooks, Salters, S.C. whom he reared as his very own. His Grandchildren; Shanirey MeDowell, Aydenn Boyd, Aiyanna Boyd, Bella Boyd, Shamary Seabrooks Jr., Nakare Seabrooks. Mother in-Law, Irene Hall- Salters, S.C. Siblings; Sharon Boyd,

Obituary Preview: Ellen Infinger Strickland, who was 59 years old, passed away on April 22, 2024. She was born on June 28, 1964, in Georgetown, South Carolina. Although she grew up in Georgetown, her true home was the beaches of South Carolina, where she met her beloved husband, Billy, and began a wonderful journey with him. Ellen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her family and every moment with them. She had a deep love for the ocean and the feeling of sand between her toes. She was a strong woman who instilled strong values in her children that have served them well. Her family will miss her dearly, but she will always remain in their hearts. Ellen is survived by her husband of 41 years, Billy, and their children: Joey (Christle) Strickland, Andrew (Ginny) Strickland, and Katie (Matthew) Jelich; and 8 grandchildren. Her sisters Sherry (Billy) Collicot and Susan Noonan; and her brothers Jeff (Maria) Infinger and Paul Infinger; and their respective families.
She was predeceased by her parents Norman and Jenny Infinger, and her brother Norman Infinger. A service will be held at a later date. In place of flowers, please consider donating to the Coastal Conservation League to keep the beaches as beautiful as Ellen would have wanted.

Obituary Preview: Willie James Dawkins was born August 8, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Doretha Dawkins Herlong and Calvin Corley. He departed this life on April 15, 2024.
He was affectionally known as “Chubby” and grew up in West Columbia. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1964 where he was a trumpet player in the band.
He attended Benedict College and later received an Associate degree in Accounting from Rutledge College in Columbia, SC.
Chubby was a Master Sergent in the United States Air Force. He joined the Air Force in 1965 and served his country while embracing tours of duty in Homestead Fl, San Antonio Texas, Amarillo Texas, Columbus Mississippi, South Vietnam, Kindley Bermuda, South Korea, Turkey, and England.
During his military service, Chubby earned the following honors; Meritorious Service Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Commendation medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Good Conduct medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Longevity Service medal with 3rd Device, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship ribbon, Air Force Overseas Short-Term Service ribbon, National Defense Service medal and various other distinguished awards.
Chubby always had a deep love for his family, friends, the Air Force and the community of West Columbia. He was a kind-hearted and easy-going person. He loved watching westerns.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers; Joseph Bernard Herlong and John Cecil Herlong.
Chubby leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Lauren “Spanky” (Gail) Odom; one daughter, Dorothea “Dee” (David) Dawkins-Haigler, 3 sisters; Henrietta Herlong Taylor, Jackie (Ken) Herlong Moseley and Kathy (John) Herlong Johnson. He has 9 grandchildren; Christopher, Christyn, Hannah and Joshua Haigler, Margaret, Allen, I’Esha, Laura and Lauryn Odom; 5 great grandchildren; 3 uncles, 3 aunts 7 nieces, 2 nephews and a host of loving great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives.
Chubby was also blessed to have 2 special lifelong friends, Ernest Golson and Tom Hall. The family tremendously appreciate the love and support that both of them showed to Chubby especially during his illness.
Chubby will be truly missed, but will forever live on in our hearts.

Obituary Preview: William (Bill) Franklin Loftis, age 77 of Sandy Run,  South Carolina, passed peacefully on Monday, March 25, 2024.  Mr. Loftis was born on September 5th, 1946, in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Mr. Loftis always had a big smile on his face and never met a stranger.  He was eager to always help others and always made sure his family and friends knew he loved them.
He was a Marine in the United States Marine Corps. Then went on to work at Carolina Eastman for many years and later retired as an owner operator truck driver.
Mr. Loftis is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary Griffin Loftis.  His children, Heather (Stacy) Lucius, Reed (Kristina) Loftis,  Romona (Bryan) Patterson and Tina (Frank) Hutto.  Grandchildren, Kelli (Jody) Jennings, Trevor Hutto,  Carli Lucius, Shelby Hutto, and Sofia Patterson.  Great-grandchildren, Arianna Grace Jennings, and Aurora Josephine Jennings. And his best bud Money.
Mr Loftis was predeceased by his parents, Joe Brooks Loftis and Gladys Maude Loftis,  son,  William Brooks Loftis, his brother, Jerry Loftis, sister,  Joe Ann Holcombe and granddaughter Kayla Brooke Salter.

Obituary Preview: Karen Jones-Wigfall is an original resident of Allen Street in Cayce. She grew up in the house of her grandfather, Hampton Riley of Swansea, SC. She spent two years in Brooklyn, NY as a young girl with her brothers, Thomas Jr. and Lorenzo. After returning to Cayce, she attended Ida A Bull elementary school, Claude A. Taylor middle school, Airport High School, and graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School in 1975. In 1979 she worked with Rev. Julius Felder and became a member of the NAACP,.
She was a Chairperson for the Cayce-West Columbia NAACP chapter. She had a son named Dwight in 1977. She went on to work in other organizations to better the community and the Midlands. Her husband, Clarence Wigfall is from Pawley's Island. They have a daughter named Sammarra. Karen became involved in the Claude A Taylor PTA in 2000 and worked with the Julius Felder Coalition for Change. Karen also worked in Voters Registration for 31 years, working election polls for Precinct 31 along with her daughter. She was instrumental in getting Council Member Skip Jenkins and Mayor Elise Partin elected in their first runs for City Council. After years of hard work in the community, Karen became ill in 2006, and it slowed her down. But she never gave up politics and activism, getting Sammarra involved in both. Mr. George Herbert Carraway, age 89, peacefully entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at his Lexington home. Born on November 11, 1934, in Winnsboro, LA, George was a devoted Christian, cherished husband, loving father, and proud grandfather.
George's adventurous spirit soared as he once owned two planes, delighting in flying from his hometown in Winnsboro, LA, to destinations like Florida and Tennessee. An advocate for quality time, he relished moments with family and friends, especially when centered around a good fish fry. George found solace and joy in playing hymns on his guitar alongside his dear friends, Brother and Sister Osborn, and shared his passion for fishing.
A proud and devoted member of New Life Tabernacle church, George's love for the Lord radiated through his actions. His infectious smile had the power to brighten even the darkest days, leaving a lasting impact on those around him.
Throughout the years, George generously supported his Louisiana hometown, wearing many hats as a cotton farmer, owner of a cotton gin, and proprietor of businesses like Two Sisters restaurant. Following the loss of his first wife, George relocated from Louisiana to Lexington, SC, where he found love once again. On his birthday, November 11, 2007, he married his second wife, Shirley F. Carraway.
George is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley, and two step-daughters, Terri Slice (Tony) and Renee David (Rick). His legacy continues through his three sons from his first marriage, David, Ronnie, and Keith, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A final farewell to George will take place at Providence Memorial Cemetery in Winnsboro, LA. Donations in George's memory can be made to New Life Tabernacle church at 5765 Edmund Hwy, Lexington, SC 29073.

Jamilton leaves behind a loving family, including his siblings Lusvin, Gerson, Ingrid, and Brayan, his niece Aily Perez Godinez, and several family members in Guatemala.  As a current junior at Pelion High School, Jamilton was not only known for his quiet demeanor and a smile that could illuminate any room but also for being a hardworking and studious student. His dedication to his studies and his commitment to excellence were evident in all he undertook. His gentle nature and ability to listen made him a beloved figure among his peers and teachers alike. Though he spoke softly, Jamilton's impact was profound. He touched the lives of many, both in his school community and among his loved ones. His kindness, empathy, and radiant smile left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
