Kay Ellen Trexell - April 08, 1941 - May 15, 2024

Departed: 05/15/2024 (Milwaukee)
Obituary Preview: Kay (Netzler) Trexell
April 8, 1941-May 15, 2024 age 83 years old.
Kay Ellen Trexell, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on May 15 after a long illness. At the time of her death she resided at Francis House Memory Care in South Milwaukee, WI. She was born in Portage, WI and grew up in North Fond du Lac, WI, where she graduated from North Fond du Lac High School in 1959. She resided in Milwaukee and South Milwaukee since the early 1960's.
Kay enjoyed her home, family and friends, her backyard birds and golf (where she first learned to swear), but mostly her Brittanys. She was a proud three-time Champion of the Grant Park Women's Golf League, 1991, 2006, and 2007, and if she were to be cremated, her ashes would belong in the trap in front of the %#$@*! 17th green, as it seemed to take a lifetime for her to chip out of it. She enjoyed the music of Daniel O'Donnell, Johnny Cash, Waylon, Willie, Dolly, and Tammy and George. She loved Joe Montana unconditionally, always and 4ever, an obsession her late husband tolerated with good humor. A favorite memory of her family was her impromptu parade down the street at her 75th birthday party, wearing the majorette boots she begged for as a child every year but never received until her eldest son gave them to her that day, and the official Joe Montana game jersey gifted by her youngest son that day. As her honorary third son, Pat Fee, described it, he had never seen such unabashed glee on anyone's face in his life.
She is survived by the best dog she ever had, Sundance; two sons: Brad, of Kansas City, MO; and Brian (Katie) of Muskego, WI; five favorite grandchildren; Cora, Celia and Sawyer Trexell, of Muskego, and Jack and Ellie Lewis of Spokane, WA, each of whom she told, privately, was her favorite at one time or another; her brother Robert Netzler (Carol) of DeForest, WI nieces, nephews and many friends. She is also survived by her dear friend, golfing pal, and companion, Bob Kempf of Oak Creek, WI, an important part of her life for more than 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Trexell; her father, Felix Netzler, mother, Jeannette Netzler Rogers, and her elder brother Lee Netzler, as well as her favorite previous best dogs she ever had: Penney, Dixie, Bingo and Divot, and her very favorite grand dogs, Astro, Buckwheat and Xena.
Her sons are forever grateful to Kay's special friends whose assistance allowed her to remain in her home as long as possible. From grocery shopping to snow plowing to lawn mowing, and delivering meals, we are grateful to Bob Kempf, Maxine Malone, Stephanie and Anthony Uljanec, Pat Bergholz, Mark Wilkinson, and many others.
Thank you also to the caregivers at Franciscan Villa and Francis House Memory Care for their help and support, and to Moments Hospice care.
Family and Friends visitation will be held Prasser-Kleczka Funeral Home, 6080 S. 27th St., Milwaukee, WI, 53221 from 4:00-6:00-pm on Tuesday, May 21. A brief service will follow. Private entombment at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Oak Creek, WI.

Patricia Ann Rathmann - September 28, 1933 - April 24, 2024

Departed: 04/24/2024 (Milwaukee)
Obituary Preview: It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother Patricia Ann Rathmann (Nee Terpstra).
She grew up on Kimberly Avenue in the Town of Lake, she called this home her Little House on the Prairie. She recalled so many memories growing up there. Sitting on the fender of her dad's tractor while he tilled up their huge garden, her pet duck who she made a home for, cleaning it's webbed feet but would eventually learn that it became dinner. Her moms homemade bread and jam that she would eat on the porch. They also had a dog Blackie. With her two sisters Jean and Arline she would play cutouts and elevator in one of the closets. Later they would move closer to the high school which was Pulaski. This is where my mom would meet my dad. It was during their senior year in drama class where they would meet. After high school my mom worked for Briggs and Stratton, and also the Heil company where she took care of insurance for the workers. She loved this position because she was such a people person. My mom and dad would marry January 28, 1956. They would live there till my dad graduated from UWMadison. They then would travel due to my dad being in the air force. This is where they had 2 of their children. Debbie would be born in Tucson Arizona and John would be born in Duluth Minnesota. Their son Paul would come 18 years later, mom thinking she maybe was in her changes. What a wonderful change! When my mom told my dad he was in shock because he didn't answer right a way. When my dad left the air force they settled in Milwaukee on Wanda Avenue. They had many happy memories there. My mom sold her life insurance policy and bought a camper which took us all over the U.S. She sang for 25 years on the St. Stephens choir and also served communion till her Multiple sclerosis took over. She would help with making donuts, clean in the church, and church picnics would find her in the kitchen with the other helpers. She also helped decorate the church for christmas. Later she would help at Martin Luther High Schools rummage sales. My mom was known for playing pranks especially on April Fools day. She loved water balloon fights and would always come up with something fun for her parties. During her life she battled breast cancer, a thyroid condition, multiple sclerosis, and eventually a stroke and colon cancer. It was during my dad's illness that her granddaughter Morgen took care of my mom and dad with first her daughter Izzy along and then later would bring her twins Lizzy and Lexy. Which would be the delight of my parents. But through most of her life she had a wonderful outlook. If there was a way, she'd do it! She was an amazing mom and she will be forever missed by her children Deborah (Richard) Krebs, John (the late Diana) and Paul (Debbie) and her 10 grandchildren and 9 greatgrandchildren. Also her two sisters, nieces and nephews.
Memorial Gathering Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at THE FUNERAL HOME from 10AM to 1PM. Memorial Service to follow, at 1PM.

Bernice Ruth Ruswick - August 10, 1926 - April 05, 2024

Departed: 04/05/2024 (Milwaukee)
Obituary Preview: Bernice (Perlaczynski) Ruswick was born August 10, 1926, the youngest of the four children of Valentine Perlaczynski and Bertha (nee Kitzke) Perlaczynski. Although, her father died from illness less than two years later, she had no shortage of relatives. She and her family occupied the Polish flat of a house built and occupied by her grandfather and family and bookended by houses built by great uncles and occupied by their families, with even more relatives living nearby. Her childhood playmates were often her cousins, and she was always under the watchful eye of at least one aunt, if not two or three. Maybe because of this, the importance of family became one of the dominant themes of her life.
Her early opportunities were constrained by the limited financial condition of her family. She never owned a bike and never learned how to swim, but she didn't let that stop her from enjoying what her circumstances did offer. She found joy in the simplest things. Her world expanded somewhat when she won a scholarship to Pius XI High School. The daily commute from her Mitchell Street home was grueling, but she stuck it out and was one of the eighteen graduates in the Class of 1944. One copy of her school photo graced the piano of her cousin Gene Kitzke where it was noticed by his good friend, Frank Ruszkiewicz (later Ruswick). Bernice and Frank dated only twice before he was shipped overseas to fight the Nazis, but the romance resumed after his discharge in 1946, and they were married in 1948.
Throughout her life, Bernice served in many capacities: store clerk, lab technician, and bookkeeper to name a few, but her main occupation, and the one she enjoyed the most, was wife and mother. Frank and Bernice raised four children, first in Milwaukee then moving to Brookfield in 1966. No matter where she was, Bernice enjoyed the company of people. She made friends easily, and cherished them for a lifetime. She loved to tell stories, but the stories she told of herself were most often to laugh at her few miscues rather than to crow of her many accomplishments.
