Obituary Preview: Michael Irene Jr., more affectionately known as “Big Mike” by his loved ones, passed away after a long battle with cancer on May 17, 2024. Michael was born in Newark, New Jersey to Michael Irene Sr. and Josephine Lamberti Irene on December 28, 1956. Michael was the youngest of four siblings and is survived by his older brother, Lawrence, and older sisters, Sandra and Michelle.

Michael grew up in Bloomfield, New Jersey and attended Trenton State College, where he met his college sweetheart and love of his life, Maria Radice. Mike and Maria were the perfect pair and did everything together. They spent a wonderful life together raising their two boys, Michael Peter and Matthew James, in Mercer County. Michael worked from the time he was in high school, delivering furniture, until his retirement from Merrill Lynch in 2021. He always supported and provided for his family.

Michael was the best dad that anyone could ask for. He loved spending time with his boys and coaching them in baseball and football any opportunity he could get. He was always so proud of his sons. The ultimate “boy” dad became the world’s greatest “girl” grandpa to two little girls and one on the way. Michael devoted his later years to babysitting Sophie and Lucy, who absolutely adored him. He also had a special relationship with both of his daughters-in-law, Lexie and Alexandra, with whom he often shared dad jokes.

Michael was a very family-oriented man. He loved getting together with family for Pizza Fridays, vacations, and holiday celebrations. He was also a fan of making eggs Benedict, watching Jeopardy, grilling various meats, and relaxing on the couch with a cold beer. He loved to go out to dinner with his family and would help to make sure that everyone left the table with an empty plate.

Big Mike was a very avid sports fan, and could always be found rooting for the Mets, Jets, and Devils. One of his favorite sports was baseball, and he enjoyed annual cross-country trips to visit different stadiums with his good friends, Tom and Neal. He was also a lover of rock’n’roll music, particularly the Beatles and Billy Joel. Michael was a big history buff and loved to combine the two interests by reading biographies of various musical artists.

Michael would be described by everyone as one of the kindest and most thoughtful people that they had ever met. Whether he was trimming his father-in-law’s hair, helping his children with a house project, or simply going along with someone for a car ride so they didn’t have to go alone, he was always thinking of others and putting their needs before his own.

His time was too short and Big Mike will forever be loved and missed by his family and friends.

The visitation for Big Mike will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 9:30-11:30AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.

A Life Celebration ceremony will be from 11:30-12:00 PM at the funeral home.

The burial will follow at Princeton Cemetery located at 29 Greenview Avenue in Princeton, New Jersey.

Adam Zawadzki, 48, of Lawrenceville, NJ suddenly passed away on Tuesday May 14th, 2024.

Born in Pisz, Poland he immigrated to the United States 31 years ago. He was a parishioner at St. Hedwig Church in Trenton, NJ for many years. He was selfless, caring, talented, and loved his family more than anything.

Adam Zawadzki is survived by his parents, Teresa and Mieczyslaw Zawadzki; daughter, Karolina Zawadzka; brother, Dariusz Zawadzki and spouse, Magdalena Zawadzka.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening, May 16th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Rd, Lawrenceville NJ, 08648.

She was the co-owner and co-proprietor of Bossio’s Deli in Lawrenceville, having proudly served Lawrenceville and surrounding communities for the past 25 years. Emma was a devoted parishioner at The Church of St. Ann. Some of her hobbies included gardening, cooking, watching Roma and Chelsea play soccer, spending quality time with her family, and time playing with her beloved dog Chelsea.

Daughter of the late Pasquale and Domenica Provenzano; raised by Domenica Veltri, sister of Giuseppina, Mariuzza and Domenica, sister of the late Anna, Giovanna, Assunta & family, cousin of the late Jennie Martillotti, wife of the late Gaspare Bossio; she is survived by her children and their spouses, Angelo and Susan Bossio, Joanne and Paul Krueger, and Alfred and Deborah Bossio; her grandchildren; Robert Hallowell (Jaime), Jeffrey Bossio (Briana), Evan Bossio, Matthew Krueger (Tayler Sheehan), Austin Bossio, and Alexander Bossio; her great-granddaughter Gia Birchenough; her brothers-in-laws Gino Bossio (Patsy), and Joe Bossio (Rita); her devoted friend and hairdresser of 40 years Joanne Fletcher, devoted cousins in Canada Anna, Maria, Dora and family; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Born in Poland, he immigrated to the United States in September 1986. Andrzej was a self-employed contractor for many years, before retiring. He was a parishioner at St. Hedwig Church. He enjoyed to travel and spend time with family.

Son of the late Adam and Danuta Satora; he is survived by his wife Hanna Satora; his children, Ola and Ewa; grandchildren, Asia, Karolina, Kuba, Magda, Karina, and Victor ; siblings, Janusz, Adam, Wiesław, Witek.

Shyam K Ram was more than a mother; she was the heart and soul of our family. Her love knew no bounds, and her kindness touched the lives of everyone she met. Her warm smile and gentle spirit brought comfort to all who knew her.

She is a retiree of American Standard, where she was an executive secretary for 40+ years. Ethel was a longtime parishioner at St. Hedwig Church. She served as Past President of the Altar Rosary Society and held other various positions. Ethel enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, trips to the Poconos, gift giving at Christmas, decorating for all the holidays throughout the year, but her most precious times were spent with her family.

Daughter of the late John and Julia Zajac and wife of the late Thaddeus A. Tykarsky, Jr. Sister of the late Rosalie Blicharz, brother-in-law Edward Blicharz, and nephew Robert Blicharz. She is survived by her sister Sally L. Zajac, brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Marion Zajac, daughter and son-in-law Diane M. and Eric Cruz, her son and daughter-in-law Thaddeus A. III and Lisa Tykarsky, Lisa’s brothers Vincent and Gary Restuccia, granddaughter Kayleigh M. Cruz, grandson Thaddeus A. Tykarsky IV, nieces Amy Karen Harter (Andrew) and Deborah Zajac (Robert), and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Charles J. "Bubba" Schlosser, III - November 06, 1958 - April 27, 2024

Obituary Preview: Charles J. “Bubba” Schlosser, III, 65, of Yardley, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 27, 2024 surrounded by his loving wife and close friends.

Born in Philadelphia, PA he was a long time resident of the Morrisville and Yardley area.

Bubba was a veteran of the United States Navy and was an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. He started a lifetime of dedication in Bucks County starting in the early 1970’s. In 1974, Bubba joined the Capital View Fire Company in Morrisville where he served as the past President and Deputy Chief. His volunteer career with Capital View Fire Company spanned over 50 years with 25 of those years being consecutive. Bubba was instrumental with the merger of the Capital View Fire Company with the Morrisville Fire Company.

Bubba continued his dedication to serving the community by joining the Yardley- Makefield Fire Company in March of 1996. Bubba raised through the command ranks and was assigned the assistant Chief’s position from 2004-2006. In the year 2007 Bubba was assigned Deputy Chief of the Fire Company until his retirement from the position in 2013. Just a few months prior to Bubba’s passing he was accepted into being a life member of the Yardley- Makefield Fire Company. If Bubba was not responding to an emergency, you may find him working on the fire company’s beloved antique 1937 Studebaker Hale Pumper. His father in law Gene Cadwallader was instrumental in having the truck restored to its original condition to be proudly displayed by antique committee members at various shows throughout the country.

Bubba is predeceased by his parents Charles J. Schlosser, Jr and Marian Smith; and a brother Daniel Schlosser. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 dedicated years, Deborah; brothers Mark Schlosser, Sr. and his wife Joanne, Michael Schlosser and his wife Lisa; sister Chris Luna; two brothers-in-law Gene R. Cadwallader Jr., Scott C. Cadwallader and his wife Cheryl. Bubba will be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday May 6th at 10:30 AM at the Yardley- Makefield Fire Company (Station 80) located at 652 Stony Hill Road, Yardley , PA 19067.

Burial will be private.

Alex was born in New York, NY and grew up on the family farm in Hopewell New Jersey. Alex graduated from Hopewell HS and attended Purdue University in Indiana, before enlisting in the Army Air Corp during World War II. After his marriage in 1952, Alex lived in Trenton, Ewing and Lawrence. Alex worked for over forty years at the US Naval Jet Propulsion Center in Ewing Township NJ, until his retirement in 1994.

Predeceased by his parents, Michael and Helen Szpylczak Romanchuk, his brother William Romanchuk and sister Helen Romanchuk Collins. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Mary Ricco Romanchuk, their son Michael Romanchuk and his wife Anne Marie, their daughter Joan Van Wagner and her husband Mark, their son James Romanchuk and his wife Doreen; his grandchildren, Jennifer Roslowski and her husband Joshua, Nicholas Van Wagner and his wife Laura, Chelsea Romanchuk and Carli Romanchuk, two great-grandchildren Aidan and Ashley Van Wagner and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alex was a devoted and loving husband, father and pop-pop. He lived a full and happy life, which included fishing, hiking and traveling. He enjoyed exploring the state and national parks, and had a profound appreciation of their natural beauty. Bird watching was a particular passion of his and he visited spots where their migration offered great viewing opportunities. Alex loved hiking on the Appalachian Trail and had been able to do so in a number of states, including a hike to the summit of Mt. Katahdin in Maine. Throughout his life, Alex was a sports fan. He rooted for the Cleveland Indians and was known by all the neighborhood kids as the guy who would buy or trade them for their Cleveland Indian baseball cards. He was a diehard fan of the Cleveland Browns and a passionate and longtime fan of the New York Rangers. Alex instilled, and passed along, his love and loyalty for the Rangers to every subsequent generation of his loving family. In addition to his love of sports, Alex was also a gardener at heart. He enjoyed many years of growing vegetables from seed in his extensive, homemade, basement greenhouse. He always grew far more than he could use in order to share them with his family, friends and coworkers. His farming roots ran deep. In his life and work, Alex had acquired a great degree of both mechanical and electronics skills and knowledge. He was as at home under the hood of a car as he was working with precise instruments and devices on a sophisticated lab bench. He was always willing and happy to help others using these skills and equally happy to teach his skills to others.

Alex leaves behind nearly a century of cherished memories, not only with the family members mentioned above, but also a large group extended family members and many friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM at Incarnation Catholic Church, 1545 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ.

Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.

Visitation for Alexander will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at Poulson & van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. There will be no additional visitation prior to mass on Thursday.

Born in Ft. Leavenworth, KS, Gregg moved to New Jersey in 1974, and lived in Lawrenceville for 27 ½ years. Prior to Gregg’s retirement he had the pleasure of working with Connie Weiss of C.A. Weiss Sales, LLC, Chester Springs, PA. His working experiences included commercial roofing, consultant, business owner and commercial sales rep. Gregg enjoyed spending good times with the “love of his life, Cecilia,” favorite grandson, “Mr. Dane,” daughter, Melissa, his sassy grandpuppy, Ms. GiGi, along with friends and family. One of Gregg’s biggest accomplishments and hobby was the pride he took in restoring his 1986 Corvette.

Son of the late Leland and Ann Trumbo, predeceased by sister, Rendy Dunn, he is survived by his loving wife, Cecilia Trumbo, daughter, Melissa S. Esser and grandson, Dane M. Dengler both of Lawrenceville and his son, Darryl A. Esser, of Texas, sisters-in-law, Gloria Scharer, Macungie, PA, and Patricia Szeplaki (John), Upper Black Eddy, PA, brother-in-law Paul (Patty) Pogorzelski, Manahawkin, NJ, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, 10 a.m., at St. James Chapel, 6 Englantine Avenue, Pennington, NJ. Attendees are asked to arrive to the church no later than 9:45AM.

Born in Trenton, NJ, Jerry was a resident of Ewing Twp. for 56 years. He worked for the State of New Jersey, Division of Taxation for 40 years and retired as a Supervising Auditor in 2002. Jerry was a car enthusiast and a member of the Central Jersey Antique Car Club. He owned several classic cars including a red 1968 Ford Mustang and a red 1996 Corvette convertible which he proudly displayed at numerous cruise nights, car shows, and parades throughout the area. He loved playing the "slots" in Atlantic City and Parx Casino and spent many summer days at the Jersey Shore earning him the nickname "Jersey Jerry". Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and being Pop-Pop. Jerry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all. He will be dearly missed by many.

Son of the late Joseph L. and Anna M. (Renno) Immordino, uncle of the late Joyce Immordino; he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Diane M. Eleanor attended Saint Hedwig’s Grammar School and has been and has been a lifelong parishioner. She attended Trenton High School. After graduating, she worked in the admissions office at Saint Franics Medical Center. Eleanor also worked for the New Jersey Department of Education until her retirement after 25 years of dedicated service. Eleanor loved animals, especially all her cats. She enjoyed bingo and trips to Atlantic City. She loved time spent with all her family and going on road trips down south.

Eleanor was predeceased by her sister June Reed Sochalski Misialowski, her nephew Christopher Reed and her very beloved, special great-niece Chelsea Faith Reed. Both Christopher and Chelsea died at early ages from Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.

Eleanor is survived by two sisters, Barbara Misialowski Pasquito and Irene Misialowski Sielski, both of Lawrenceville; her nephew and godson Frank Val and Darielle Pasquito of Hopewell, David Scott and Robyn Pasquito of Lawrenceville; her nieces Lisa and Ken Kiernan of Lawrenceville, Jennifer Reed and Andy Gomet of Savannah, GA, and Georgia and Valarie Reed of Trenton; many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and many cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 10:30AM at St. Hedwig Church, 872 Brunswick Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08648.

Interment will be held at St. Hedwig cemetery, Ewing Twp., NJ.

The visitation for Eleanor will be held on Friday morning from 9-10AM at the funeral home.

Obituary Preview: Gilda Louise Saphire, née Carlesimo, 89, of Lakewood, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at the family home of her daughter-in-law Kathy, on March 24, 2024.

Born in Newark, NJ to Onorio and Triestina Carlesimo, Gilda graduated from East Side High School, where she met her lifetime love, Emil. This began their 70-year love story. Married in 1956, they were a living example of their vows, moving through good times and bad as one; and their love for each other never dimmed.

Gilda worked for the Matawan Regional School District for over 30 years before joining Emil in retirement. It was the start of a second honeymoon they were blessed to share for 23 years. Outgoing and gregarious, Gilda was always ready with a funny or surprisingly spicy story. She and Emil enjoyed the company of good friends, taking cruises, and regular trips to Atlantic City. Those early morning drives to “AC” would include sharing coffee in the car and a kiss for luck in the casino lobby.

Gilda created cherished memories with every holiday meal, or Sunday barbeque. Each summer, she and Emil treated their family to a week at the beach where she cherished her morning snuggles with the grandbabies.

Gilda was predeceased by her husband, Emil J. Saphire, her son, Joseph E. Saphire, and her brother Erminio Carlesimo. She is survived by her beloved daughter-in-law Kathleen Saphire, and her daughters Lynn Klionsky and her wife, Alyson Parker, and Lisa McGonigle and her husband Michael McGonigle. Gilda’s love will endure through her eight grandchildren and their spouses: Joe, Jr & Claire, Amy & Sam, Christopher & Claire, Jessica & Brian, David & Julia, Adam & his fiancé Savannah, Katie & her fiancé Shelby, and her youngest grandchild, Liam, and her seven great-grandchildren: Matilda, Olivia, Dylan, Anita, Theo, Ada and Marlow.

Obituary Preview: On March 21, 2024 Christina M Szmauz passed away peacefully in CareOne assisted living facility in Hamilton, NJ.

Christina was born on December 18, 1928 in Pszczyna, Poland as a first daughter of Tadeusz and Maria (Kowalska) Kotowicz. When her father obtained a position as a tutor for Stanislaw Radziwill, the family moved to the estate of Prince Radziwill in Olyka, Wolyn. Her idyllic childhood playing in the fields and in the palace with her sisters Anna and Barbara, was changed forever by the outbreak of the Second World War. During the tumultuous time of survival, the youngest sister Elzbieta (Malinka) was born. At this time, Christina had to grow up quickly while taking responsibility of caring for her family members. It was also during this time when she met the love of her life, Leon Szmauz.

The upheaval of the war and Ukrainian massacres forced them to flee to their family living in Opoczno, Poland. It was there where Christina graduated from Gimnazjum in 1947, followed by Nowy Sacz Liceum Ogolnoksztalacace dla Pracujacych in 1957. Her professional career in medicine began in Lodz where she graduated with a nursing degree. While working full time as a nurse she also studied for her medical degree which she obtained in 1964. Between 1964 and 1972 she practiced as a family doctor in Roznow and Jazowsko, near Nowy Sacz.

In late 1972, the youthful relationship between Christina and Leon was renewed after many years and many miles apart. She left her beloved Poland and family to start a new life with Leon in America. Their loving marriage ended with the sudden death of Leon in November 1984.

While in New Jersey, she completed courses at Saint Barnabas Medical Center and briefly worked at Princton University as a job assistant. Being unable to practice her profession in NJ, she focused on her family, friends, and home.

To those left in Poland, Christina provided constant help and support. Tens of packages per year were sent to her close and distant family members. She opened her heart and home to newcomers from her motherland. The basement of her little house in Lawrenceville was a hub for many long night conversations, music, and laughter for those seeking a connection to Poland. Many ever-lasting friendships and even a few marriages were established during those get togethers. Despite a life of hardship and challenges Christina was known for her hard work, abundant energy, optimism, support, and humor. Those of us who have been touched by Christina’s heart hope she now rests in peace with her loved ones.

Christina was predeceased by her parents Tadeusz and Maria, husband Leon and her sister Anna (Sojka). She leaves her son Jacek Adamus and his wife Ewa, stepsons Richard (Maria) and Christopher (Deborah) Szmauz, sisters Barbara Wirkijowska and Elzbieta Tzoneva-Eysymont. She is also survived by her grandsons Michal, Bernard and Aleksander Adamus, step grandchildren Andrew, Jessica, Acadia, Alex and Natalia Szmauz; as well as nieces and nephews: Wojciech (Halina) Wirkijowski, Piotr (Dorota) Wirkijowski, Stanislaw (Anna) Sojka, Dorota (Albert) Karwowski, Joanna (Michal) Lohn Zajac, Delyan (Flora) Tzonev. Additionally, she leaves her very many friends who will miss her dearly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 10:30AM at St Hedwig Parish, 872 Brunswick Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08638.

Born in Brooklyn and raised in Providence, RI, Stuart was the cherished son of Philip and Lilian Berman. He graduated from Brown University and Columbia Law School, setting the stage for a distinguished career in law and business.

Stuart's legal journey began as a young lawyer at the Federal Reserve, paving the way for his role as assistant general counsel at Prime Motor Inns, now known as Prime Hospitality. He finished his legal career at Hillsborough Associates in Fairfield, NJ, where he served as in-house general counsel for many years. Beyond his professional achievements, Stuart was profoundly dedicated to aiding those affected by Gaucher Disease, a condition he personally battled. He actively supported the Gaucher Disease Center at NYU and frequently chaired patient meetings at The Yale Club, where his passion and advocacy brought people together, often filling rooms to the brim.

A veteran of The Navy Reserve JAG Corps, Stuart's adventurous spirit was evident in his love for sailing, the many pilot lessons he undertook, and his stint as a New York City taxi driver. He was an ardent New York Yankees fan, going to opening day every year and often traveling to Florida for Spring Training with his close friends. Stuart also found joy in the western landscapes of Louis L'Amour novels and reading The New York Times, an essential daily ritual not to be missed.

Born in Wroclaw, Poland, she immigrated to the United States in 1999. Miroslawa was a self-employed housekeeper for many years. She was a parishioner at St. Hedwig Church. Miroslowa was a kind hearted hard working woman who wore her heart on sleeve. She was eager to learn, and could always be found surfing the internet in search of educating herself. Her passing is a great loss to the families that she cared for. To them she will always be remembered as loyal, trustworthy, hard working and incredibly kind.

He often bonded with them through his love of cooking, martial arts, movies, and 80s pop music. Art was an amazing and talented cook who specialized in making traditional Cantonese dishes. He poured love into each dish he created, and every meal provided one with comfort and warmth. He passed this talent onto his children, so that they may always have a piece of him, sharing this tradition with their loved ones and future children. Leading by example, Art raised his children to be compassionate, powerful, respectful people, and instilled in them a strong sense of determination, perseverance, and drive.

Throughout his life, Art dedicated himself to various passions and interests. He was a businessman, an entrepreneur, a proud licensed electrician and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 269, and a grandmaster martial artist.

For over 50 years, Art studied and practiced several martial arts, beginning his impressive career at the early age of 11 years old. His journey started with his studying Fu Jow Pai (Tiger Claw Style) in the early seventies, laying the foundation to Art’s lifetime dedication to martial arts. Art later studied Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan where he earned the title of Senior Master 6th Dan Black Belt. Through his induction to the International World Tang Soo Do Association, Art became a Certified Black Belt Chief Instructor, which merited him the honor of teaching throughout the continental U.S. and abroad. Additionally, Art studied the Japanese Martial Art Yoshinkan Aikido for over 18 years. He continued his career by studying Siljun Dobup Katana and Amara Arkanis Eskrima.

Throughout Art’s lifelong studying of martial arts, Wing Chun Kung Fu became his most influential passion. Art studied Wing Chun Kung Fu under Senior Master Yip Chick Pui, placing him in the 3rd generation of Grandmaster Yip Man’s Wing Chun Kung Fu lineage. Recognized as an impressive athlete, Art was inducted as a lifetime member of the Hong Kong Ving Tsun Athletic Association. After decades of teaching, Art earned the title of Grandmaster (SiGung).

In 2003, Art established USA Wing Chun Kuen Association in Lawrenceville, NJ. In 2007, Art opened Philadelphia Wing Chun Kung Fu school under the umbrella of USA Wing Chun Kuen Association, in the heart of Chinatown. The school has remained a staple in the Chinatown community for over 17 years, and counting. Philadelphia Wing Chun quickly became a flourishing business, and it continues to rank amongst the top 10 Wing Chun Schools across the nation.

Art’s dedication to martial arts and love for his Chinese culture inspired hundreds to study with him. Many viewed Art as a mentor, leader, and a father figure to guide them through both martial arts and life. He was loved and admired by many in the martial arts community, and his inspiring legacy, cultivated by his hard work and passion, will continue to live on through his children, students, and colleagues.
