Tam N. Luong - September 01, 1944 - March 20, 2022

Departed: 03/20/2022 (Woodstock)
Obituary Preview: Mr. Tam Ngoc Luong, 77, of Woodstock, GA, peacefully passed away on Sunday March 20th, 2022, in his room while surrounded by his loving wife and children. Mr. Tam was born on September 1st, 1944, Saigon, Vietnam, where he spent his first 56 years of life. He was actively a part of the commendable Navy who fought multiple great battles. Although strenuous, he worked his hardest in order to provide care and earnings for his family. On the year of 2000, he along with his wife, Mrs. Tien Thanh Pham-Luong, migrated to the United States to find a new opportunity. Here, the hardship continued, but yet he still pushed forward, all for the sake of his family.  In his earlier years at Woodstock, he worked as a custodian for Chattahoochee Technical College. Due to his attentive nature, he made many friends, and those around him enjoyed his presence. He persisted his labor until September of 2018, when he acted as a guarantor for his children and grandchildren to move to the United States, so they, too, could find a new opportunity. With his family with him, Mr. Tam continued to support each and every member with their studies or ambitions to the greatest extent. He was his family's advisor and mentor, guiding them through each step with his vast knowledge and understanding. He was proud of each family member's accomplishments, no matter how large or small. His contentment was then reflected on his warm and loving smile that heartened everyone. Mr. Tam is preceded in death by his parents, Tuyen Doan and Cam Luong.
Mr. Tam is survived by his wife, Tien Thanh Pham-Luong of Woodstock; his children, Tram Luong, Thy Luong, Thuyen Luong; his children in-laws, Hieu Pham, Hung Pham, Chi Nguyen; and his grandchildren, Long Pham, Khoi Pham. In place of flowers, please consider making a donation to Agape Hospice in honor of Tam.

Catherine Miles Kilminster - August 05, 1936 - March 20, 2022

Departed: 03/20/2022 (Woodstock)
Obituary Preview: Catherine (Cathy) Miles Kilminster, 85, of Canton, GA died at Northside Hospital – Cherokee on early Sunday morning, March 20, 2022 as a result of an abdominal aneurysm and resulting heart failure. She was born in Darlington, MD on August 5, 1936 to her late parents, James Miles Murphy and Angeline Hopkins (Carr) Murphy. She is survived by her husband of 61 years of marriage, David (Dave) Taylor Kilminster, daughter Kathi (Ralph) K. Viehman and granddaughter Claire A. Viehman, all of Bluffton, SC, and niece Suzanne (Clark) E. Nickerson of Canton, GA
She was predeceased by her sister Betty (William) Sullivan of Lewes, DE and brother-in-law, Alan E. Kilminster of Ft. Collins, CO.
Cathy's interests in life were talking, working, reading, traveling, and investing money. She loved to talk to people and never met a person with whom she couldn't communicate. She worked in a myriad of jobs, staying only if they were interesting or until she learned all there was to know about the job, at which point she became bored and started looking for a new challenge. She started her first full time job the day after graduating from North Harford High School in Harford County, Maryland. She remained closely connected to her high school graduating class, serving as the contact for all class activities over the years after graduation.
Reading was a passion and she always had a stack of books to read, returning them to the library as fast as she finished them and checking out more. If there was a limit, she checked them out on Dave's account.
In 1999, she started her job of a lifetime as Office Manager with a small financial advisory firm in Hunt Valley, MD. She was the first employee of the firm, using the owner's coffee table in his living room as her desk. She loved this job as it combined her interest in people (the clients) with her interest in investing. She subscribed to a number of high-end investment advisory publications to further her knowledge of market conditions and investment advice. She stayed until she and Dave were 78 and decided that they needed to start traveling since they were not getting any younger.
After retiring, she and Dave started on a program of traveling. She had visited all fifty states in the USA. In 1975, she and Dave spent two weeks touring Greece with four friends. She and Dave also spent a week touring England, Wales, and Scotland with Dave's aunt. They traveled extensively until the Covid-19 virus halted that.
A Memorial Service will be held on April 3, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Waleska United Methodist Church, 7340 Reinhardt College Parkway, Waleska, GA. She will be cremated and, upon Dave’s passing, their ashes will be comingled and the urn buried in the Darlington (MD) Community Cemetery in the town where she was born.
