Patricia was born on September 19, 1935 in St. Joseph, the daughter of the late Harry and Ruth (Kovalska) Rice. On May 3, 1958 she married Harold Tillman and they were married for 55 years. Harold preceded her in death in 2013. Patricia spent most of her life in the St. Joseph area before retiring and living in Ocala, Florida. After losing her husband Harold she came back to Stevensville where she enjoyed spending time with family and life long friends. She was an avid reader, loved doing puzzles, and watching HGTV.
Survivors include her children: David (Ann) Tillman, Luanne Heidinger, and Krista Tillman; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers; and one sister.
Patricia was also preceded in death by two brothers.

Earl A. Morse - May 01, 1938 - March 08, 2022

Earl was born in Fountain, Michigan on the Morse family farm on May 1, 1938 the son of the late Earl Alonzo and Nettie Morse. As a child and young adult, he worked on the Morse farm and attended Custer High School where he excelled in playing basketball. Earl graduated in May 1956 and started working as an x-ray technician. Afterwards he enlisted in the US Army and trained as a medic and eventually stationed in Ulm, Germany with the 4th Armor Division. After returning from Germany Earl married Rosemary Strzyzewski of Mainistee, Michigan and moved to Compton, California in 1962 and they began raising their first two sons, Earl Allen and Jeffrey Michael. In 1964 they moved to Chicago, Illinois and their third son, Kevin Mark was born. Eventually Earl settled in Saint Joseph, Michigan and worked from 1973 until 2001 at the D C Cook Nuclear Plant. Earl married his lifetime partner Joyce Eberhardt in 1982 and they were inseparable until her passing in Nov 2021. Earl loved spending time outdoors especially fishing and hunting. He was a true giver and would doing anything to support and help his family and friends.
Earl is survived by, three sons, Earl (Cynthia) Morse, Jeffrey (Carol) Morse, Kevin (Michele) Morse, and one stepson and two stepdaughters, Mary (Joel) Zavoral, Ricky (Erin) Eberhardt, and Jenny Eberhardt; seven grandchildren, Paul, Petra, Jeff, Katie, Zack, Maggie, and Holden; six great-grandchildren; Gavin, Gabe, Kora, Margo, Josiah, and Paisley; and his siblings, Patricia, Sharon, Harold, and Gerald.

Jacque was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to the forty-two members of her family. She was a source of encouragement, love and prayers and will be dearly missed by her family. Jacque was a “third grandmother” to many of her grandchildren’s friends and was called Grandma Jacque by dozens. Her home was always open to family and friends. Jacque had a lifelong faith in God and a lifelong service to her church and community.
Jacque was born on May 14, 1929, in Chicago, IL. She was the only child of Arthur and Edna (Wahlin) Hedberg. The family lived in the Edgewater neighborhood and attended the Addison Street Baptist Church. Jacque attended Pierce Elementary School and Senn High School and graduated from North Park College in 1949. Summers were spent in Bethany Beach in Sawyer, MI.
Jacque met Donald Ytterberg at Bethany Beach and they were married on April 8, 1950, in Chicago. Jacque’s grandfather Reverend Victor Hedberg officiated at the ceremony. Jacque was preceded in death by Donald in 2005 after 54 years of marriage.
Jacque and Don’s first home was in the Mt. Greenwood neighborhood of Chicago and they later moved to Oak Lawn, IL where they raised their three boys. The family were active members of the Salem Baptist Church in Beverly and Orland Park, IL.
They moved to Bethany Beach and Naples, FL in retirement. Jacque and Don were members of the Harbert Community Church in retirement. Jacque was a leader of the annual Christmas Smorgasbord at the church. Jacque lived at the Holmstad in Batavia, IL the last few years.
Jacque spent every summer in Bethany Beach where the both the Wahlin and Ytterberg families have had summer homes for six generations. Don and Jacque were active members of the community and served in many capacities.
Jacque is survived by her sons Randy (Linda) Ytterberg, Brad (Nancy) Ytterberg, and Brian (Dorie) Ytterberg. Jacque was the beloved grandmother of Andrew (Johanna) Ytterberg, Eric (Erin) Ytterberg, Breanne (Ryan) Ten Have, Ryan (Kaitlyn) Ytterberg, Brent (Aly) Ytterberg, Amanda (Derek) Budd, Casey Ytterberg, Amy (Daniel) Sveen, and Ethan Ytterberg, and great grandmother to 21 great grandchildren.

Larry was born on December 27, 1938 in Carroll, IA, the son of the late Clayton and Regina (Terlisner) Woerdehoff. On April 23, 1960 he married Mary Higgins and they shared 61 years together. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and wood working. He also enjoyed traveling and has traveled to all 50 states.
Survivors include his wife: Mary; children: Steven (Lori) Woerdehoff and Craig (Jamie) Woerdehoff; grandchildren: Jake (Stephanie) Russell, Abbey Russell, Sammantha Pagels, Jillian (Brennen) Boone, Kiersten Burns; great grandchildren: Adalyn Russell and Ryder Russell; siblings: Jim Woerdehoff, Tom Woerdehoff, Don Woerdehoff, and Lois Brincks.

Alice was born Monday, April 6, 1931 in Racine, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Clyde and Alice (Bloedel) Simpelaar. On August 11, 1957, she married David James Jensen and he preceded her in death in 2012. Alice loved family visits and relished the time spent with her children and grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. She and her late husband enjoyed gardening, especially rock gardening, at their home as well as throughout the Midland community.  Their involvement with the Midland Antique and Historical Societies spanned more than 30 years and they found happiness in the events they participated in. Alice was active for many years with the AAUW and their annual book sale and embraced the friendships established there. But most of all, quilting brought her joy. She was very gifted with design and ideas and the ability to translate them into fabric and thread.
Survivors include her children: Bradford (Anne) Jensen, Gregory (Marilyn) Jensen, Philip (Carolyn) Jensen, Russell (Charlotte) Jensen, Elizabeth (David) Hozeska; grandchildren: Gordon (Heidi) Jensen, Benjamin (Emily) Jensen, Abigail (Nicholas) Herrman, Lorri (Aaron) Wenger, Melanie Jensen-Worth, Tiffany Jensen; 3 great grandchildren and her identical twin sister: Carol (John) Mathis.

Sean was born on May 24, 1959 in St. Joseph, the son of the late Leo and Suzanne (Johnson) Harvey. On June 28, 2008 he married Dawn DePriest and they shared 13 years together. Sean worked at Lake Michigan College for 27 years and at CHT USA, Cassopolis for 8 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Survivors include his wife: Dawn; her children: Andrew (Marie Goodish) Schutze and Catherine (John) Schafer; grandchildren: John Schafer and Micah Schafer; siblings: Paul (Traci) Harvey and Sue (Joe) Rambo.

Judy Jane Barons - May 20, 1947 - February 15, 2022

Judy was born in Rock Island, Illinois and attended Rock Island High School. After graduating, she attended Illinois State University, earning a degree in Education. While there, she met Karl Barons and they married in 1974. Judy began her teaching career in the English Department at Schaumburg High School in Illinois. While teaching, she earned her Master’s Degree from Northern Illinois University. Retiring after 34 years of teaching, Judy and Karl divided their time between their homes in Sawyer, Michigan and Sun City, South Carolina.
Judy played competitive tennis throughout her life as soon as she could pick up a racquet, playing on championship teams in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Hilton Head. She loved being outdoors, walking the Michigan dunes, hiking in the woods and traveling. Friends and family were very important to Judy and she valued returning to the Quad Cities for holidays, graduations, and board games.
Judy had a beautiful singing voice and used her gift in church choirs, family caroling at Christmas, and several vocal groups, including the Sweet Adelines. She loved many types of music and enjoyed visiting blues clubs with her brother, Jerry and his wife, Susan. Judy also volunteered at the Acorn Theatre in Three Oaks, Michigan.
Survivors include her husband Karl, brother Jerry (Susan) Janecke, nieces Cindy (James Hufft) Janecke and Lisa (Phil) Dumont and great-nephews Ben and Matthew and great-niece Anna Dumont.
Judy is preceded in death by parents, Duval and Bernice Janecke, and brothers, Chris and Ron Janecke.

Gail MacIvor Lowrie - May 04, 1943 - February 13, 2022

Obituary Preview: Gail MacIvor Lowrie, 78, of Lakeside, Michigan passed away on February 13 after a brave fight with Multiple Myeloma.  Gail grew up in Grosse Ile, Michigan, graduated from Grosse Ile High School in 1961 and from the University of Wisconsin in 1965 where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority.  Gail had a particular knack for business, especially with financial securities and headed to Chicago after graduation to join the brokerage firm, A.G. Becker. She sold commercial paper there for many years and later for Northern Trust.  In the early 1980’s she purchased a seat on the Chicago Board of Trade and successfully competed in that rough and tumble business for nearly a decade. In the early 1990’s Gail moved permanently to Lakeside and begin her real estate career.
As a long-time resident of Lakeside, Gail was well known as an experienced and respected real estate agent, most recently with @Properties. She was a knowledgeable, thorough, fair and decisive agent who worked hard at her craft, and was an active agent until her death. Gail was a passionate supporter of animal rights and was a long-time member of the Board of Directors of the Michiana Humane Society.  She was a devoted “parent” to a long list of rescue dogs over the years and will be greatly missed by her current family, Spencer and Claire.  Gail was a generous supporter of other charitable and philanthropic organizations in Harbor Country.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Frederic and Janet Lowrie, and her sister, Wynne McLellan.  She is survived by her brother, Ted (Kathy) of Barnstable, Massachusetts; nieces Allison Lowrie (Mark) of Denver, Colorado and MalloryTahy (Andy) of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; and nephews Weston Lowrie (Aruna) of Seattle, Washington and Andrew Lowrie (Karen) of Charlton, New York. She also leaves many great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and friends from high school and college. She also leaves many dear friends and colleagues from Chicago and Lakeside.
A celebration of Gail’s life will take place in Lakeside later in the year.  Any expressions of remembrance can be made to the Michiana Humane Society at 722 IN-212, Michigan City, IN 46360.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Charles and their daughter, Jacqulyn (Sarah Jaggers) Colpitts; Linda’s children: Larry Allen Schuck and Lesa Schuck and their father, Larry G. Schuck; Charles’s children: Charles (Angie) Colpitts, Ronald (Sandra) Colpitts and Scott Colpitts; grandchildren: Zach Colpitts, Noah Colpitts, Ryan Colpitts and Tony Hultgren; two brothers: Gerald and Glen Allender and a sister, Ava Reynolds.

Obituary Preview: Frank William Owen went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, February 6th, 2022 in Holland, MI.
He was husband to Muriel Margaret Burnham Owen for over 65 years until her passing in 2015. Formerly of St. Joseph, MI, Frank was born April 6th 1927 to the late James Phillips Owen and Vivian Loretta Dean Owen in Benton Harbor and grew up on a small fruit farm in the area. After serving in the South Pacific with the Navy in World War II, Frank earned multiple degrees from Michigan State University and worked on a PhD at the University of Illinois.  Frank had a successful career in both academia and private enterprise as a renowned production horticulturist, specializing in top fruits (pomology).  Due to the respect and admiration he earned serving the industry, he was inducted into the Illinois State Horticultural Society Hall of Fame. Frank was a very generous man with both his time, talent and money. He was a skilled Master of Ceremonies, a gifted teacher and mentor leading many classes teaching scripture, business and horticulture. Frank never met a dog he didn’t like and enjoyed the sport of golf from the links of Scotland to his favorite local courses.  Both Frank and Muriel had a special place in their hearts for Lake Michigan and the coast of Maine. Most importantly, Frank loved his wife and family.
He leaves behind one brother, John Owen (Barbara) of North Carolina, three children, Peggy Rae Owen Flickinger (Steve) of Red Lion PA, Loretta Sue Owen Beridon (Carl) of Holland, MI and Frank William Owen III (Lisa) of Kennett Square PA, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  Frank was especially close to Lori’s husband Carl, filling the roles of father, mentor and best friend.

She leaves behind her husband Timothy, her daughters Hannah and Sarah, and her sisters, Carol (Gerald) Nelson and Barbara (Gregory) Sperry, brother-in-law Gene O’Neil, five nephews, one niece, great nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Lois (Dahlin) Nelson.
Holly’s life will be remembered and celebrated on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 12 Noon at Harbert Community Church, Harbert, Michigan. Holly was born on December 10,1958 in Chicago, the youngest of three daughters. The family lived in Niles and Arlington Heights, Illinois until the family moved to Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Delaware County Christian School and Wheaton College (IL) where she majored in Art with an emphasis in Photography.
While at Wheaton, Holly studied in Taiwan, went to China, South Korea and Japan, where she climbed Mt. Fuji. After graduation she became a ski photographer in Colorado, taught cross country skiing in New Hampshire and did landscaping and turtle research on St Simons Island, Georgia. She met and married Tim O’Neil in 1998, and had two daughters. Tim and Holly established their home in Whitefield, New Hampshire, where she homeschooled her daughters from kindergarten through their high school graduation.
Holly was cofounder with Tim of the Team O’Neil Rally School in Dalton, New Hampshire and was an integral part of its early launch and administration. She also found time to exercise her creativity by marketing and selling her photographs, cards, bookmarks, jewelry and knitting at craft fairs and retail outlets in New Hampshire and Michigan.
Aside from her love of her family, all facets of art and the outdoors, Holly was passionate about her belief in Jesus as her Lord, and boldly shared her faith with others. Her trust in Jesus Christ and His sovereignty carried her through her life, especially during her last days.
Holly found joy and beauty in the ordinary, and never missed an opportunity to encourage others to see each day’s sunset, marveling at the beauty of God’s daily handiwork. She laughed often and was always ready for an adventure or a cup of coffee. She embraced her Swedish heritage and made sure her daughters learned about their roots. When not with those she loved, she reveled in the constant company of her dog, Harry.

Kenneth enjoyed building models, golfing and cooking.
Survivors include his son: Christopher (Sarah) Barron; and a brother: Walter (Eileen) Barron.
Kenneth was also preceded in death by a brother: Paul Barron.
