A visitation will be held Monday, May 27, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 814 W Pleasant St., Knoxville, Iowa 50138. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the church, with a luncheon following. Pastor Joel Picard will preside over services.

Jerry was born on September 18, 1961, to William (Bill) and Shirley (Wilming) Ayers in Maquoketa, Iowa. He was one of six kids. Jerry attended Moorhead State and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in vocational rehabilitation therapy. Jerry and his wife Darcee (Reynolds) met at college and were married on May 5, 1984.

Jerry was a servant leader, always willing to help and serve others in need. When he let you in, you found a human being with a BIG heart who loved life and those around him. He never met a person he couldn’t befriend, especially children. If your kid was crying in church Jerry would be the first person to offer help. He enjoyed volunteering at vacation bible school and coaching his kids’ sports teams. Jerry was a great cook and gardener, always looking for something new, whether it was going to the fresh fish market down in Florida or becoming friends with the guys at Fareway for new tips and tricks. Many people were honored to enjoy his smoked meats, pizza nights, or any other delicacies. New methods of cooking required more cooking gadgets and tools – which he loved to order on Amazon!

Jerry’s joy was rooted in being with those he loved, especially his wife, children, and grandkids. Jerry and Darcee were married for forty wonderful years. They were blessed with two children and six grandchildren. Jerry genuinely enjoyed being outside with the grandkids; working on a project, out on the boat, or just watching them play – being a grandfather was his biggest treasure in life.

Jerry was an avid camper, who just enjoyed being in nature with friends and family. From cooking to campfires and crazy weather – he enjoyed it all! He was a huge Minnesota sports fan, especially the Twins. Keeping up with the farm team stats all the way to the biggest hitters – there wasn’t a game he didn’t enjoy. Everything he needed done was always ‘done yesterday,’ whether that be building a deck, mowing the lawn, or listening to a friend. If you needed help or something done, Jerry was the first call.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Darcee; children, Chris (Nicole) Ayers and Katie (Brett) MacLeod; his grandchildren: Charlie, Flora, Kennedy, Jane, Eloise, and Hazel; his mother, Shirley Ayers; and his five siblings.

He was preceded in death by his father Bill and many friends and relatives.

Frances Arlene Bonnett - January 26, 1935 - May 14, 2024

Obituary Preview: Frances Arlene Bonnett, 89, was received into the loving arms of Jesus on May 14, 2024, at Serenity House in Oskaloosa, Iowa surrounded by her loving family. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Bussey Community Church. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, also at the church. Arlene will be laid to rest beside her husband, Ward, at Pringle Cemetery following services.

Arlene was born January 26, 1935, to Reverend I.G. and Vera (Miller) Wilkins. She graduated from Randolph High School. On December 20, 1952, Arlene married Ward Eugene Bonnett at Kent Chapel in Oskaloosa. They were blessed with five children, whom they raised in rural Bussey. Arlene and Ward enjoyed 66 years of marriage until his passing in 2019.

Arlene dedicated her life to creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. The devotion she showed to them is a testament to the unwavering love she felt. Whether it was a fresh batch of molasses cookies for the grandkids or having every inch of her fridge covered in pictures, love was never in short supply in the Bonnett home. On Sunday afternoons as the kids and grandkids were growing up, the aroma of a home-cooked meal could be found in Arlenes kitchen, where the family would gather and enjoy one another, making memories that will last for years to come. Every member of her family could always count on a call for their birthday with Arlenes joyous voice on the other end singing "Happy Birthday." When it was time to return to their own homes, her tender heart and warm spirit will forever be remembered, as she waved and blew kisses from her deck, her love guiding them until they were out of sight.

Arlene was highly creative, sewing countless quilts throughout her life. Those quilts will serve as everlasting memories of an amazing woman. Not only did she sew quilts, but she made beautiful wedding dresses, clothing for her family, and countless bears and bags. Arlene also enjoyed being outside working in her garden. Always one to help when needed, she volunteered a great deal of her time to the community. She was a 4-H leader for many years and was also very dedicated to the Bussey Community Church. Arlene was devoted to her faith and had read the Bible completely through many times. She taught Sunday School and VBS and was always willing to help when asked. Arlene was never a person who would say "No." In her later years, she loved to read books to pass the time. Arlene also had an extensive thimble collection, with over 650 from all over the world.

Arlene leaves behind a family who will cherish her memory for generations to come. She is survived by her children: Randy (Nancy) Bonnett, Joan (Regan) Wade, Julie Woollums (Lee Williamson), Nancy (Dennis) Miller, and Kimberly (Donnie) Stark; grandchildren: Matthew (Krystal) Bonnett, Joel Bonnett, Jessica (Billy) Bacon, Emmy Leinen (Joe Ross), Alex (Tashia) Leinen, Jessica (Marc) Held, Anna (Tony) Hilpipre, Andrew (Angie) Wade, Cody (Ami) Woollums, Becky Woollums, Jamie Woollums (Justin Fertig), Nicole (Laremy) DeGroot, Sarah (Tyler) Christian, Seth (Kristin) Williams, Luke Williams (Emily Hunt), Maddi (Jake) Bennett, and Bailea (Blake) Butler; great-grandchildren: Jayden, Wyatt, Gentry, Sadie, Abbey, Evie, Tyler, Justis, Julian, Olivia, Elisha, Naomi, Jaysa, Deklynn, Grace, Ike, Jorden, Lara, Wright, Maverick, Cameron, Courtney, Haylee, Hannah, Shannon, Drake, McKayla, Scotty, Alayna, Zachary, Cora, Lydia, Caroline, Trace, Adeline, Hendrix, Eli, Kennedy, Layni, and Kye; great-great grandchildren: Zola, DeMarcus, Avery, Maddy, Indy, Noelle, and Haviliah. Peggy was born in Des Moines on November 27, 1934, to Benjamin and Irene (Mitton) McPhee. When she was a child, Peggy was known for her love of music, especially when she and her sisters, Pat and Helen, sang three-part harmony together. One of their treasured songs was "Sentimental Journey," which always brought joy to whomever was listening. Weekends in her younger days always included a fun card game with friends. In 1969, the family purchased a cabin in Clear Lake, Iowa. After 50 years, the cabin is still host to countless friends and family.

Peggy had various hobbies and interests that brought happiness into her life. Planting flowers, feeding birds, and sitting outside to enjoy the patio were among her favorite pastimes. She also found immense joy in going to different places with her family, whether it was a trip to the casino or enjoying live music at Summerset Winery. Gathering with loved ones for holidays or birthdays and spontaneous Sunday dinners created unforgettable moments that Peggy cherished dearly.

Peggy is survived by her children: Chucky (Linda) Stephens Jr., Kimberly (Hickory Johnston) Howell, Karla (Gale) Lund, and Karen Weese; sister, Pat (Oral) Sparks; her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Stephens Sr; and her siblings: Bob (Vivian) McPhee, Betty (Cary) Wirt, and Helen (Bill) Shepard.

Peggys family would like to send a special thank you to her favorite doctor, Dr. Austin Baeth, all the doctors and nurses from Unity Point, Methodist Hospital, her palliative care team, and her hospice care team. Their knowledge, kindness, and caring were beyond helpful during her final journey.

He is survived by his spouse, Sherry Harding, his children Rod Harding, Robert (Stacy) Harding, and Lorie (Oran) Teut, along with his grandchildren Taylor Harding, Floyd Jones, Caitlin (Kory) Dohlman, and Dalton (Hannah) Scharper, and great-grandchildren Kynsli, Kohler, and Georgia, and his stepchildren Jamie (Ty) Eitel and Jason (Jami) Cole, and step grandchildren Cole, Cash, Austin, Ali, and Jaron, and step great grandchild Bentley.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Harding, mother, Adrianna (Ade) Scholtus Harding, and brothers Harold Harding and Kenneth Harding.

Eddie passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, at Knoxville Hospital ER at the age 48 years 3 months and 15 days.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Riverside Church, 120 W. Main St., Knoxville, IA, on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Light refreshments and fellowship will follow service. Memorials may be directed to the family through Riverside Church.

Eddie worked at CJ Auto Salvage in Knoxville as an Automotive Dismantler/Machine operator, and several years at Cascade Manufacturing Co prior. He also worked with his dad at Jim's Tree Service.

Eddie enjoyed country living, being outdoors, fishing, mushroom hunting, 'shed hunting', bonfires & Bottles of Bud light. He loved his family and friends.

Eddie was the 'go to guy' on cars or anything else mechanical. No job too big or too small. He'd tell you how to fix it or just come help fix it with you.

Eddie had a soft heart for animals. He hand raised a few orphaned raccoons and as a kid helped care for a tail-less squirrel called Molly, but his heart was overjoyed by his kids and grandkids, or any little kid who needed a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on or a fist full of Oreos.

Left to cherish his memory are 3 children Tyler, Bailey and Isaac Lafollette; step sons, Aaron and Seth Huffaker; siblings, Kayt (Clay) Smith, Julie Griffin, Kathleen Whitworth, of Knoxville, Ia. Kim LaFollette, Promise City IA, Kevin LaFollette, Albuquerque, New Mexico & Kelli Lichty, Monroe Ia. Stepsiblings: Les (Linda) Nichols of Des Moines, Brenda (John) Barber of Knoxville, Jim (Laura) Molle of Unionville, Iowa, Teresa (Chris) Conger of Seymour, Iowa; many adoring nieces and nephews; and eight wonderful grandchildren.

Dale was an over the road driver for most of his life and was very good at his job. In later years, he worked for Lambirth Trucking and was considered part of their family.

When Dale wasnt working, he enjoyed fishing, watching John Wayne movies, and spending time with his family.

Patricia was born on June 27, 1948, in Boscobel, Wisconsin to Francis and Lavonne (Quamme) Walsh. From her earliest days, Patricia learned the value of a hard days work; milking cows twice a day on the family farm all while going to school. In 1966 she graduated from Gays Mills High School. On October 14, 1967, Patricia married John Ehorn, who happily stayed by her side for 56 years.

Patricia never hesitated to donate her time to the service of others. Whether it was helping plan the Bauer Picnic, working at the Marion County Fair, or helping with 4-H activities, she was always happy to volunteer. When Patricia was not helping her community, she was spending time with family. The kids were never hungry when she was around. Her apple banana salad, Summer Delight, Twix bars, coleslaw, peanut butter balls, and cheese balls were all family favorites. Not only did she love cooking for the family at her home, but Patricia also provided the meals for all her grandchildrens weddings.

Patricia leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion. She was always there supporting her family and always encouraged them to do what they loved. Her family admired her strong mind and body. Patricias unstoppable spirit never allowed her to give up. She fought bravely until the very end.

Patricia is survived by her husband, John; daughters, Tina (Tom) Schneider and Lisa (Dave) Seddon; grandchildren: Trey (Danielle) Schneider, Tory (Amanda) Schneider, Ty (Megan) Schneider, Logan (Desiree) Shives, and Chelsea (John) Wagler; great grandchildren, Tucker, Cooper, Justin, Mack, Troyal, Blakely, Lucas, Levi, and Larson; and Daves children Aaron (Amber) Seddon, Haley Seddon, and Derek (Brooke) Seddon and families; brother, Tom Walsh; aunt Barb Herro, with whom she shared a birthday and also traveled to the Kviknes Hotel in Norway to learn about their ancestral roots; grandchildren of her heart, Mylee, Rylee, and Garrett Sims; and special friend, Betty Carpenter.

She was preceded by her parents; and a sister, Mary Ann Walsh, who died in infancy.

Obituary Preview: Dwight Robuck, age 86, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at his residence in Knoxville, Iowa. A Celebration of Life with military honors will be held at a later date.

Dwight was born on September 6, 1937, the son of Icle and Letha (Alen) Robuck. He grew up in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1958.

Dwight was united in marriage to Carolyn "Pat" Patricia Lundy in 1957 at her parents home. He joined the United States Army in 1957 and proudly served his country. Following his time in the military he was employed at Maytag and worked there until retiring. Dwight then worked for Elk Rock State Park.

Dwight enjoyed hunting, especially bow hunting and buck skinning. His greatest pride was his family and he enjoyed spending time with them. Dwight was deeply loved and will be missed by them all.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Pat Robuck; children, Peggy Robuck, William Robuck, and Allan (Kathy) Robuck; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and sister Carmelita (Dick) Darnell.

Dwight is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Dwaine Robuck and Patricia Robuck.

A brief Celebration of Life will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville, Iowa with visitation following from 4:30–6:00 p.m. Burial will take place later at the Graceland Cemetery.

Joan was born June 8, 1929, in Bussey, Iowa to George and Electa (Hulgan) Stephens. The second youngest of nine children, she spent her childhood growing up on a farm in the Bussey area. She attended Rising Star Country School and later attended school in Tracy and Bussey. Joan excelled in basketball, earning several letters. It was there she met Clyde Jones. He asked her out for a date and she told him she wouldn’t date him unless he went out for basketball. This was because if both boys and girls won their games, they could sit together on the game bus. So, he did! Joan graduated from Bussey High School in 1946 at the age of 16. In the summer between her junior and senior years, Joan joined her sister, Fonda, who worked in Chicago at Western Union. Fonda was a coder and Joan loaded messages in the tubes. At night they would ride the “L” home giving time for Joan to run across the street and play basketball with the boys at the Jewish Community Center. She still loved basketball!

After high school, she worked in Des Moines at Bankers Life Insurance for a short time before marrying her high school sweetheart, Clyde. They made their home in Bussey, and were blessed with three children, John, Judi, and Suzy, before moving to Monroe and eventually settling in Knoxville. Joan worked in various businesses in Knoxville during her career. She started her career working for dentist Dr. Bartunick as a dental assistant. Later she worked at the Marion County Treasurer's Office. She then was a medical transcriptionist at Mater Medical Clinic, before becoming a caseworker at Marion County Social Services, where she retired.

Clyde and Joan loved camping which allowed them to enjoy time with friends and meet new people. After retirement, they moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas, a town they enjoyed visiting on their travels. They missed camping, though, and decided to try traveling year-round, which they loved. Later they decided to spend their winters in Mission, Texas and summers in Iowa, to be closer to family. Joan was greatly loved by her family. She was a fun grandma–always riding bikes, swinging, and going to the park. She loved spending time with her extended family as well–all those nieces and nephews were pretty special. She loved the family reunions with the whole crew!

Joan had a passion for reading and could often be found with a book in hand, or, in later life, listening to an audiobook. According to the library, she had checked out close to 2,000 books since 2002. She developed another passion while living at Homestead Assisted Living–Bingo. She would say, “It’s only a game,” but the thrill was still there.

Most important was her relationship with Jesus. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Knoxville. Whether it was Sunday School, Women’s Mission work, holding leadership positions, or serving as youth camp counselor, Joan could always be counted on to serve. While living at Homestead, her favorite thing to do was to listen to “her pastors” on her Alexa.

Joan is survived by her children, Judith (Brian) Foreman and Suzanne Morgan; grandchildren: Nathan (Jamie) Foreman, Joel (Monica) Foreman, Zachary Jones, Drew Morgan, and Natalie Morgan; sister, Betty Smith; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Stephens; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde; son, John; son in-law, J.P. Morgan; and her siblings: Dorothy Randol, Fonda Stephens, Vera Flanders, Maxine Roper, Hazel, Edler, George Stephens, and John Stephens.

Harold grew up on a farm and graduated from Attica High School in 1954. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1958-60. Shortly thereafter, he married the love of his life, Mary Bassett, on April 15, 1961, in Knoxville, Iowa, eventually settling in Des Moines, raising three children. He began employment for Iowa Power & Light Company as a lineman (MidAmerican Energy) and was promoted as a field supervisor in 1979, retiring after 35 years. Upon retirement, he enjoyed golfing, birdwatching, keeping a neat lawn, dining at a favorite restaurant with Mary by his side, and doting on his favorite shih-tzu, Dusty. Country music was a favorite of his along with some Elvis Presley tunes. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and New York Yankees fan, watching the games on TV while listening to his favorite radio announcer call the games. Harold loved family get togethers where he could put his grilling skills to good use, while visiting with his kids and grandkids, of whom he was so proud and held a special place in his heart.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, his parents, brother, and sister.

Harold is survived by his children, Kevin King (Michele Djordjevic), Rebecca Maxcy, Julie Work (Rick); grandchildren, Ryan King (Jessica), Kate Maxcy (Ryan Stephan), Emily Work, Miranda Work, and Myles Work; and one great-grandchild, Juniper.

The family would like to thank the staff of Prairie Vista Village of Altoona for their excellent care of Harold, as well as Suncrest Home Health and Hospice for their compassion and support in the twilight of his life.

Obituary Preview: Brent David DeVoll, age 27, of Bussey, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Hamilton, Iowa.

Brent was born on March 31, 1991, in Newton, Iowa, the son of Marshall and Cathy (Overton) DeVoll. Brent grew up in Newton, until around 5th grade. His family then moved to Bussey. Brent attended Twin Cedars High School and graduated with the class of 2010. During school, Brent enjoyed sports. He played football, baseball, basketball, and track.

After high school, Brent started working as a brick masonary. He excelled and enjoyed this work and continued it until his first diagnosis with cancer. Brent had a long battle with the disease, and was diagnosed three different times. He fought hard, and always kept his #HeadStillHigh. He had a lot of support and love from his family and friends.

Brent enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing video games, and spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Brents wishes were to be cremated. A luncheon will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Church of New Beginnings in Hamilton, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville from 3:00 P.M. ~ 7:00 P.M. At 7:00 P.M., words of comfort will be given by Pastor Vince Goemaat. Friends and relatives will also be invited to share stories and special memories of Brent, until 8:00 P.M.

Richard was born on September 23, 1934, the youngest son of Victor and Florence (Hill) Whitlatch, of rural Knoxville. Richard attended Springfield Rural Elementary and graduated from Attica High School in 1952.

Richard was married to Marilyn Monroe in 1955 and to this union, two sons were born: Jon and Joe. Richard later married Darlene (Agan) and they spent many years on the family farm south of Knoxville. With this new union, the family structure doubled overnight as Darlene had two children of her own, Arnold and Karen. Combining two families of teenagers was not an easy task, but mutual cooperation of all involved led to success. Upon retiring, Richard and Darlene moved to Chariton, Iowa, and truly enjoyed their time living there. Richard moved back to Knoxville in 2006. He passed away at Westridge Nursing Home where he had been for seven years. Richard and his family will always be grateful for the care he was given by the staff there.

Richard spent his farming career south of Knoxville and backgrounding cattle was his favorite part of his operation. He was well known for his ability to put small groups of young calves together to make larger matching herds. His youngest son, Joe, quit his factory job in 1980 to join in partnership with Richard, expanding the farming operation to accommodate this change. Richard’s desire to be a good steward of the land was also very important to him. After retiring from farming, he spent time refurbishing antique furniture which gave him great joy also.

Richard was a longtime active member of the Olive Chapel Church, which he grew up in. Some can still remember Richard being the auctioneer at some of the fundraising events at the church.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; his parents, Victor and Florence Whitlatch; brother, Hugh Whitlatch; sister, Annabel Bristow; stepson, Arnold Agan; brother and sister-in-law, Ancil and Norma Borchert; and step great grandson, Blake Wynn.

Those left to cherish Richard’s memory include his sons, Jon (Darla) and Joe; stepdaughter, Karen (Cliff) Jones; stepdaughter-in-law, Linda Agan; grandchildren: Jarad (Dianna) Whitlatch, Scott (Candace) Whitlatch, Davey Agan, Angela (Ted) Claney, Anita (Chris) Jones Gillis, Brooke Jones, and Curtis (Katie) Jones. Obituary Preview: Graveside funeral services for Ron Van Englehoven, 85, of Knoxville, Iowa, will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. A luncheon will follow the service at Celebrate Community Church for a time of visiting and fellowship; all are welcome to attend.

Ron was born on January 4, 1939, at his grandparents' home in Pella, Iowa. He was one of three children born to Rene and Irene (Van Waardhuizen) Van Englehoven. Raised in the Otley and Pella areas of Marion County. Ron was an ornery and fun-loving teenager, known by many in those years. He married Barbara Dahm in 1959 and had three daughters.

After Ron moved to Denver, Colorado, he met Helena, and they were married on December 28, 1973. Ron was an over-the-road truck driver for many years, driving coast to coast with Helena. In 1978, they moved from Colorado to Columbia, Iowa, where they made their home and began farming full-time. Ron was innovative and took calculated risks to grow the farming operation which they then moved to their Knoxville farm where they retired. Together, Ron and Helena worked the farm for many years.

Ron was a well-known, social person who would strike up a conversation anywhere he went. He enjoyed having coffee with his buddies, staying updated on farming news, and keeping up with local gossip. He also loved going to farm sales, restoring tractors, and welding. He adored his family dearly and took great pleasure in teasing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ron passed away on July 9, 2024, at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helena; children: Suzanne (Mike) Wedeking, Shawna Van Englehoven (Kevin Dorr), Nicole (Pat) Toal, and Robin (Mike) De Cook; grandchildren: Corey Wedeking (Jenny Cabanayan), Maranda De Cook (Kanda Sisomphane), Ondrea (Nick) Mysak, and Brandon (Emily) De Cook; great-grandchildren: Noah, Asher, Axton, Hudson, Aurora, Olivia, Hollyn, Carter, Natalie, Tatum, and one on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Pat Smith; sister-in-law, Jan Van Englehoven; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.

Preceding Ron in death were his parents, Rene and Irene; his brother, Marvin Van Englehoven; and his brother-in-law, Deryl Smith.

Memorials in Ron’s honor may be made to Hope Ministries or Celebrate Community Church.

Ron will be remembered for his outgoing personality, love for his family, and dedication to his community. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He also enjoyed going to car shows and riding his motorcycle. Mike always liked to keep busy, starting his day with a cup of coffee with his friends. He always enjoyed working on his truck, scrapping metal, and helping his brother with daily chores. After their mother passed away, Mike and Steve took over the duties of feeding the backyard birds. Mike was a kind person who loved making people laugh. He enjoyed being around his family and could always be counted on to take care of his dad, whom he called “Papi.”

Mike is survived by his son, Nathan Bosak; father, Robert Bosak; brother, Steve Bosak; and countless other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen.

Arthur Lee Jingst was born August 10, 1940, in Keokuk, Iowa to Lester and Rita Jingst. He attended Green Plains Country School and graduated from Warsaw High School in Illinois. While in high school, he was asked by a young lady to go on a church youth group hayride. They dated through high school and Art was married to Ann Gooding on a hot summer day in a packed church. Many blessings have sprouted from this union, and with God’s guiding hand they have been blessed with 64 years of marriage. Art and Ann have enjoyed seeing their family of three children, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren continue to grow.

Art served in the United States Army in the late 50’s and early 60’s during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked as a maintenance mechanic for Hubinger Co. in Keokuk for 25 years while raising their family in Warsaw, Illinois. At the age of 45, Art and Ann moved to a home just south of Knoxville. He then worked in the maintenance department at 3M until retiring in 2005.

Art was always busy, he loved working on his old tractors at their home, “Almosta Farm”. Many would drive by and admire his home complete with a barn and tractors. He was also a very talented woodworker. He could make anything from wall hangings, fine furniture, and any carpentry work. Art and Ann also enjoyed camping and going to the many state parks to enjoy time together, the beautiful scenery, and the many activities offered in an Iowa summer. This included attending the Old Threshers Reunions and he belonged to Red Rock Threshers Tractor Club.

Although many of us will remember his home and hobbies, his faith was what was most important to Art. He professed his faith in June of 1947 at Vacation Bible School. And since then, has dedicated his life to the Lord. He was a humble servant of the Lord and volunteered his time towards church. Over the years, Art spent considerable time volunteering at the Iowa Regular Baptist Camp in Ventura. When asked who his closest friends were, his response was members of his church and all the people he met at the camp. He very much enjoyed the fellowship at the church gatherings and retreats.

Art will be dearly missed by his wife, Ann; children: Michael (Becky) Jingst of Norwalk, IA, Andrew (Amy) Jingst of Brush Creek, TN, and Susan (Steve) McDonald of Woodbine, KS; 7 grandchildren: Katie (Matt) Weikel, Kelly (Clayton) Bretveld, Nathan Jingst, Leah (Nathan) Bretveld, Quinn McDonald, Payton McDonald, and Leanna McDonald; 6 great grandchildren: Owen, Isaac, Emmett, Titus, Bennett, and Connor; brother, David Jingst of Centralia, MO; along with many relatives and friends.

Junior was born on March 29, 1948, in Leon, Iowa to Leland and Clustie (McDowell) Ashburn. In 1968 he married Linda Berg, and they stayed happily married for 56 years until his passing. Junior spent 30 years working for Armstrong Tire in Des Moines. After his time at Armstrong, he spent another 14 years working for Simpson College.

Junior loved all that Mother Nature had to offer. He enjoyed traveling to national parks with family and enjoying the wildlife. He and Linda would drive to Red Rock to see the bald eagles and traveled to Missouri to get a beautiful view of the eclipse. Viewing the Sandhill crane migration in Nebraska was a favorite activity of theirs. Junior managed to travel to all fifty states, enjoying all the sights on the journey.

When he wasn’t traveling, Junior loved to be with his Paint horses, tending to his garden, or just relaxing and watching an old western. He and Linda also loved to find a good deal at Goodwill. Junior’s kindness, generosity, and unconditional love will be missed by all who knew him. He never hesitated to lend a hand or a considerate word.

Junior is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Brett (Lisa) Ashburn and their “grandpups”; daughter, Dixie (Mike) Davidson; grandchildren: Desi (Jake) Solo, Crystal (Cody) Davidson, and Caleb Davidson; brother, John Ashburn; sisters in-law, Chris Howe and Jean Berg; brother in-law, Ed (Shelby) Berg; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and their “adopted” children and grandchildren (you know who you are).
