Obituary Preview: Richard Walden Gee, 61, of Ironton, Ohio passed away August 12, 2023 at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. He was born May 23, 1962 in Ironton, Ohio to his late parents; Anon Gee and Laura Jane (Moore) Blankenship.
Richard was a 1981 graduate of Rock Hill High School and was of the Apostolic faith. He was a self-employed tradesman. Richard loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-dad; James Blankenship.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters; Amanda Henry of Ironton, Tiffany (Beau) Adkins of Ironton, Chasity (Dwayne) Porter of Ironton, his sons; Andrew Gee of Ironton and Joshua Gee of Ironton, his sister; Janey Blankenship of Ironton, his aunt; Ruby Kerns of Ironton, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Obituary Preview: Bonnie Blevins,48, of Ironton, Ohio passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023 in Ironton. She was the daughter of the late Virgil and Elsie (White) Blevins and was born on March 23, 1975 in Portsmouth, Ohio.
She attended Rock Hill High School and was of the Baptist faith. Bonnie worked as a home health aide and was employed by Community Health. Bonnie loved being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed walking and spending time in parks.
She is survived by her children; Michael (Sharon Lynn) Newcomb, Chris (Jamie) Newcomb, and Nathan (Abbey) Newcomb, her grandchildren; Kandielynn, Braylin, Brylin, Adilynn, Shawn, Annabelle, Landon, and Lilly, and a host of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and family members who will miss her dearly.

Obituary Preview: Mary Louise Bruce Dearfield, 89, of Ohio Furnace made her heavenly flight on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from the River Run Health Care, Franklin Furnace, OH. She was born June 15, 1934 in Ohio Furnace to the late Rev. Jerry and Elva (Daniel) Bruce.
Mary attended Green High School, graduating in 1952 and married Frank Dearfield on September 12, 1952. She was an avid traveler and artist who loved to paint, creating works for numerous family and friends.
Awaiting her arrival in Heaven, in addition to her parents, are her husband Frank; two children: Frank Layne and Renae Friend; a grandson, Frank Aaron; a great-grandson Ethan Laber; three sisters: Roberta Bruce, Sherlene Lavender and Edith Daniels and four brothers: Albert Bruce, Raymond Bruce, Pete Bruce and Paul Bruce, with whom she is rejoicing in a blessed family reunion. She is survived by a daughter: Vicki and Donny Hall of South Shore, KY and two sons: Bill Dearfield of Ohio Furnace and Rock and Lynn Dearfield of Huntington, WV; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and numerous loving nieces and nephews. She was the world's greatest Momma and Grandma. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ deeply and was a member of Junior Furnace Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mary will be 2:00pm, Monday, August 14, 2023 at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street, Ironton, OH with Pastor Rock Dearfield officiating. Kathern was born November 16, 1928, in Pedro, Ohio, daughter to the late Willard and Alma (Herrell) Arbaugh. When Katherns children were young, the phrase "stay-at-home-mom" didnt exist. It was usual for the wife to stay home with the children while the husband worked. But even by the standards of the era, Kathern was an exceptional wife and mother. She was also an exceptional grandmother and counted it a privilege to help care for her two granddaughters. Kathern was a member and treasurer of Cannons Creek E.U.B. Church in Pedro, Ohio where she was the oldest living member. In addition to her parents and husband of 57 years, Ray D Malone, Kathern was preceded in death by sister Virginia Boggs and brother Willard Arbaugh Jr. She is survived by daughter Karen (Bill) Sands of Pedro, Ohio; son James (Kimberly) Malone of Kitts Hill, Ohio; granddaughters Charla Sands of Frankfurt, Kentucky and Madeline (Matthew) McClain of Newark, Ohio; great grandson Maxwell James McClain also of Newark, Ohio; brother John Arbaugh of Springfield, Ohio and several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. David was born on September 9, 1943 to the late Marvin and Alma McGoron in Portsmouth, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, William "Billy" McGoron. David is survived by his wife of 41 years, Bonnie Weber McGoron; daughter, Kelli Lowry, step-daughter, Gretchen (Scott) Cunningham of Kitts Hill, Ohio; son, David (Megan) McGoron of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers: Mark (Sherry) McGoron of Worthington, Ohio and Paul (Leslie) McGoron of Marietta, Ohio. Following his graduation from Wheelersburg High School in 1961, David honorably served in the United States Navy. Following his time in the Navy, David obtained his bachelors and masters degrees from Ohio University. He taught at several local high schools. David was also the former quality assurance manager at Intermet Ironton Iron and owner of Webers Florist & Gifts with his wife. David's inquisitive intellect and interest in anything historical drove his leisure pursuits. He was happiest walking in a freshly plowed cornfield hunting for arrowheads. He collected anything that connected him to the past. He enjoyed teaching others and sharing his vast knowledge of local history. In his later years, David was an avid reader and always enjoyed feeding the birds. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 9, 2023, with Fr. Sheila was a 1972 graduate of Ironton High School and was a homemaker. She was an active member of the Resurrection Hope United Methodist Church and dearly loved her church and her church family. Sheila was a Master Gardener and member and past president of the Rock Hill Garden Club, volunteered with The Rocks Garden Club at Rock Hill Middle School and former regional director of the Ohio Gardeners Association. She was a longtime volunteer in the Lawrence County 4-H community and advisor for the Lawrence County Copperhead 4-H Club. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Pam Pancake and her brother, Lee Estes In addition to her father, she is survived by:her husband, Alan Lee Tackett who she married October 14, 1972.two children, Dale A. Tackett and Sara Rose Wilds both of Ironton,two granddaughters, Marlaina Jubilee Wilds and Marceline Juniper Wildstwo sisters, Jackie (Wayne) Young of South Point and Angela Joann (Bruce) Williams of Yorktown, VA. she is also survived by many special, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The Logan, West Virginia native was born September 17, 1962, a son to the late, Ezra and Mary (Turner) Harvey. He is survived by his wife; Cheryl (Lucas) Harvey who he married April 10, 2010.
Gary graduated from Salt Rock High School and was saved and baptized and was of the Baptist faith. He worked and lived in Florida for 29 years before returning home to help take care of his mother. Gary was a former welder and retired from McSweeney's in South Point. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and basically anything that would get him in the great outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Angel Bray.

Obituary Preview: Michael Ray Bolner, 58 of Ironton, OH, formerly of Ashland, KY, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 27, 2023 with his wife by his side. He was the son of the late Donald and Roberta Bolner. He is survived by his wife Lisa Cox Bolner. Mike was of the Baptist faith and attended Unity Baptist Church. Mike was an avid outdoorsman who loved to spend time in the woods hunting and enjoyed taking pictures of the wildlife and scenery. Mike also had a passion for saving animals in need. He had a love for life in general. He enjoyed time with family and friends, especially when it came to food being involved or his all-time favorite, jolly ranchers. We cannot forget how he enjoyed his naps (anytime, anywhere). He was a firefighter with the Ashland Fire Dpt. where he started his career in 1989 and retired in 2008. Mike owned and operated Genesis Electric out of Ashland, KY for thirty plus years. You would never hear the word no from Mike when it came to helping someone in need. He loved watching Fox News and keeping up with anything political. Mike has one daughter who he loved beyond measure and would do anything for, as well as his two stepsons and their spouses, who he always treated as his own. Mike adored his wife and all the things they were able to do together over the years, especially time spent with their grandchildren. Mike loved being a Poppy most of all. Mike will be deeply missed by everyone that knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Bolner West. Helen was born November 11, 1922 in Hazard, Kentucky, a daughter to the late James and Tressie (Gibson) Colvin. The family moved to Ironton, Ohio in 1924. Helen was a 1940 graduate of Hanging Rock High School. She later moved to Akron, Ohio where she worked with Good Year, in various divisions, for 35 years. She was a member of The Chapel Church in Akron, Ohio. Helen loved to travel and enjoyed her volunteer work at Haven of Rest Ministries in Akron, Ohio. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband Alpheus Loewenguth and siblings, Juanita Colvin, Donald Colvin, Bernice Melvin, Louise Nickell and James Colvin Jr. She is survived by two devoted sisters, Doris Robinson and Dorothy Terry both of Ironton, Ohio, along with many nieces and nephews. On behalf of Helens family, a special thank you to all of the Oakmont Manor Nursing Home staff for the kindness, loving care and friendship they provided to her. She is survived by her loving husband, Steven Howard of Owatonna, her sister, Leslie (Matt) Spangler, stepmother, Madolin Blackwell as well as two step-children, Jeff (Gabrielle) Howard and Hailee (Ryan) Jensen along with five step-grandchildren. Ember graduated from Ironton High School in 1980 and went on to study at Ohio University. She also had many passions including crafting cooking, baking and spending time with her husband. Rick was a 1984 graduate of Rock Hill High School and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Waterloo Coal. Rick enjoyed the outdoors especially when he was hunting, fishing, trapping. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Doyle Depriest and his sister, Carolyn Addis. Joanne was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, David Henry, and her son, Derek. She is survived by her son, Kevin of Ironton, Ohio, as well as four grandchildren: Brianna (Killian) McKelvey of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Kyle of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Andrew of Ashland, Kentucky; and Adrianna Poplin of Ashland, Kentucky. She is also survived by her two great-grandchildren, Cruz and Capri McKelvey. In addition to her parents, husband, and son, Joanne was preceded in death by her siblings David, Rose Marie, and Michael Markins, all of Ironton, Ohio. Joanne graduated from Ironton High School in 1952 and attended the University of Michigan. She was a proud wife of a United States Navy Officer and resided at the naval submarine base in New London, Connecticut. After returning to her hometown, Joanne dedicated herself to her family as a homemaker. She was a passionate and proud member of the Lawrence County Democratic Party. Joanne was a devoted follower of Christ and remained a lifelong member of the Ironton First Presbyterian Church. Joanne pursued various hobbies in her spare time that brought her great joy. She was an enthusiastic member of her bridge club and actively contributed to local craft bazaars. Knitting, needlepoint, and painting were her creative outlets, and she used them to create heartfelt art for her loved ones. Word games, especially Scrabble, delighted her and showcased her sharp mind. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore the world, and Paris held a special place in her heart. Joanne's unwavering love for her family and friends shone through in every moment spent with them. She cared deeply for their well-being and cherished their companionship. Sharing her passions with those special individuals enriched her life, and together they created cherished memories that will forever be held in their hearts. Harlan was born January 27, 1933, the son of the late Otto and Leona Willis of Ironton, Ohio. In addition to his father and mother, he is preceded death by a daughter, Debra L. Willis, sisters, Helen Vanderhoff-Turner and Shirley Spriggs, his brothers, Meredith Willis, Donald Willis and Kenneth Willis all of Ironton. Also, preceded in death was his companion Sue Schweickart Williams.
He is survived by brothers, Gary (Patti) Willis of South Point, Larry Willis of Bartow, Florida and sister-in-law Nina Willis of Kitts Hill and many nieces and nephews.
Harlan was an Air Force Veteran and proudly served in the Korean War. After discharge, he was employed by the City of Ironton Fire Department. He later was employed by Dow Chemical.

He was preceded in death by his father George Turvey and sister Theresa Bowen. He is survived his mother Helen Turvey, brother in law John Bowen of Ironton, nephews John (Amy) Bowen of Marengo, Ohio, Derek Bowen, and niece Christi (Dr. Todd) Davis of Ironton, Ohio.
He is survived by six great nieces and nephews: Tyler and Jacob Bowen of Marengo, Ohio and Graci, Mathew, Anna, and Alli Davis of Ironton, Ohio.
He will be forever missed by a countless number of cousins and family members.
