Rieger, 66, of Fawn Township, PA, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 at St. Margaret Hospital.  Paul was born on April 3, 1956 in Natrona Heights, PA to the late Paul C., Jr. and Dorothy R. Beckwith Rieger and was a graduate of Highlands High School. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years and was a member of the Center United Methodist Church, Fawn Township.  He was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed playing his guitar.  Paul is survived by his sisters: Sharon A. (Ken) Wissinger of Saxonburg and Trenece A. (Gary, Sr.) Wisnick of Natrona Heights; his nieces and nephews: Sandy (Tom) Fritch, Nick (Nicole) Wisnick, Gary Wisnick, Jr. and Angela Wisnick and numerous great nieces and nephews.  Paul was preceded in death by his parents;  a nephew: Kenny Wissinger and a great nephew: Kainin Wylor Wisnick and his faithful companion “Buddy Dog” Diesel.

Edward Charles Scovern, 69, of Sarver, PA, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, March 21, 2022.  Eddie was born on January 21, 1953 in Natrona Heights, PA to the late Edward and Jane Digirolamo Scovern and was a 1971 graduate of Highlands High School. He went on to serve his country in the US Navy.  He was a graduate of Penn Tech and had a long career with Consolidated Communications in Wexford, PA.  He Loved the outdoors, enjoying canoeing, golfing, trap shooting and was always up for an adventure.  He was an avid Steelers fan! Ed was always there to support and help everyone he knew.  Ed is survived by his wife of 38 years: Karen; his brothers: Larry (Michele) Scovern of Hamilton, VA and Ken (Denise) Scovern of Sarver, PA and his sister: Cathy (Craig) Bero of Cranberry Township, PA, many nieces and nephews and one great great nephew.

(Sokolowski) Williams, 64, of Gibsonia, PA, died at Allegheny Health-Wexford Hospital on Sunday, March 6, 2022 after a challenging and difficult 2 weeks since being diagnosed with lung and liver cancer on February 20.  Lynne was born on Saturday, July 13, 1957 in Natrona Heights, PA to the late Casimir R. (Sam) and Joan M. (Sabol) Sokolowski and was a 1975 graduate of Highlands High School. She was a case worker for Highmark Healthcare and previously worked as a visiting nurse after starting her nursing career in the ICU at St. Margaret’s Hospital. Lynne enjoyed being with her grandchildren and taking them wherever they had to go for activities or fun times that included trips to the beach and Lake Erie and lots of visits to her brother’s pool and countless board games with them.  Lynne is survived by her daughters: Niki of Snoqualmie, WA and Jaime Williams of Gibsonia, 8 grandchildren: Brooke and Caden McBride, Allison and Dylan Michael and Katelyn, Kimberly, Kamryn and Kristopher Frinsco as well as their mother, Shelley Frinsco. In addition, she leaves behind a brother: David (Anna Mae) Sokolowski of Natrona Heights, PA; a niece: Alyse (Joe) Zylinski and other loving relatives and friends that will miss her dearly for the special caring and sacrificing mother and nanny she was for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son: John Williams and her sister: Jean Sokolowski.

She retired as an X-Ray Technician working for Allegheny Valley Hospital, Dr. Fliegler and Dr. Temeles.  She was a member of the Janes United Methodist Church of Creighton and was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Brackenridge.  She was very active in the Methodist churches and was an avid gardener and loved to read, but her real joy was being around her family.  Alma is survived by her children: Robert J. (Michelle) Gephardt of Indiana Twp., PA; Katy deBlecourt of St. Albans, WV; Betty (Harry) Kunze of Pittsburgh, PA; Nancy L. Gephardt of Tarentum, PA and Debra D. Gephardt of Tarentum, PA; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and a sister: Helen Toy of New Bethlehem, PA.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Robert C. Gephardt (July 5, 2001); her son-n-law: John deBlecourt; her 3 brothers: Ivan, Ray “Lee” and John “Joe” Kammerdiener and her 2 sisters: Charlotte Doverspike and B. Pearl Gaetano.

He was also self-employed at the family owned mine from 1954-1963.  He was a life member at the Freeport VFW and a member of the Brackenridge American Legion. Victor enjoyed family camping in Tionesta. Our father was loved and cherished by his children.  He brought so much love and laughter to our lives.  Your love was pure and sincere.  We will miss you dad, your family will love you endlessly.  Victor is survived by his children: Victor D. (Sandy) Colen of Natrona Heights, Marilyn (Jim) Shaw of Cabot, PA, Leona (Timothy) Crisman of Butler, PA and Sandra Wiley of Brackenridge, PA; he is also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. (Jay) Geary, 47, of Allegheny Township, died on Friday, November 5, 2021.  Jay was born on Thursday, November 15, 1973 to Dennis Geary and Carla Helgert Geary Lunden.  Due to his undiagnosed ADHD Jay worked numerous jobs, the longest of which was at Blockbuster Video in Lower Burrell.  He was a person that you wouldn’t want to ask him something if you didn’t want to know the truth.   Jason’s life on earth was a battleground for acceptance, for love, for maintaining a job and for staying alive.  He had a heart transplant fourteen years ago and had been on dialysis every day for the last five years.  Jason loved music and sang constantly.  He was an avid Steelers and Penguins fan. In addition to his parents: Dennis (Patti) Geary and Carla Lunden, Jay is survived by his son: Levi G. Walker; 2 sisters: Jenna Geary and Becca (Colton) Garvin and his dog mini-pin: Wee Wee. He was preceded in death by his brother: Clay Lunden; his daughter: Lexis Walker; his maternal grandparents, Carl and Doris Helgert, and by his paternal grandparents: John and Doris Geary.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years: Donald R. Shoemaker; her children: Donald A. (Michele) Shoemaker of Fennellton, PA, Daniel W. Shoemaker of Freeport, PA and Valerie B. (Louis) Shaw of Saxonburg; her 4 grandchildren: Wesley (Erin) Shaw, Kylie (Josh) Haupt, Garrett Shaw and Carl Shaw; a great grandchild: Teigan Blumer and her siblings: Anna Grace Nida of Kansas City, KS, Wylie (Jean) Blair of New Bethlehem, PA, Dorissa Boozer of Penn Yan, NY, and Nola K. (Linkenheimer) Deskins, 80, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.  Judi “Mam” was born on Wednesday, February 19, 1941 in Harmarville, PA to the late Joseph and Margaret (Dawson) Linkenheimer and was a lifelong resident of the valley.  She graduated from St. Joseph High School class of 1958.  Judi was a Real Estate Agent for more than 20 years.  She was a lifelong member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church of Guardian Angels Parish.  Judi volunteered for Meals on Wheels for more than 30 years.  She was an avid tennis player and enjoyed spending time at her camp on the rivers.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and just loved and adored her grandchildren.  Judi is survived by her children: Cheryl A. Finley (Norm Walters) of Tarentum, PA, Leanne (Don) Hubert of Apollo, PA (formerly of Freeport) and Eric (Denise) Deskins of Fawn Township, PA; 5 grandchildren: Matthew Finley, Aaron (Francine) Deskins, Carly Deskins (Nick Svitek), Dalton (Mali) Hubert and Jesse Hubert; 4 great    grandchildren: Gavin, Conner, Wesley and Parker Rae and a brother: John “Jack” (Karen) Linkenheimer.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 52 years, Larry R. Deskins (6/12/2011) and brothers: Jim and Joe and a sister: Jean.

She worked as a secretary for the YMCA of Tarentum for years.  Joyce was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Natrona Heights her entire life that was built by her grandfather the late J.C. Andre.  She volunteered at the Allegheny Valley Hospital and the Allegheny Valley Association of Churches, Natrona Heights.  Joyce is survived by her brother: Kenneth L. Euler of Houston, TX and many cousins. As per Joyce’s wishes there was no public visitation. Dolores Mary Dvorak, 83, died surrounded by her children on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.  She was born in Whiting, Indiana, to Slovak immigrant parents Maria and Stephen Cernota.  Dolores graduated as valedictorian of both Whiting High School in 1954 (at age 16), and Saint Margaret’s School of Nursing in Hammond, Indiana in 1957, where she had received a full scholarship.  Dolores then graduated with honors from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana, in 1960.  There she met her future husband, Jacob Dvorak, who attended the University of Notre Dame.  Jacob and Dolores married in 1962 and settled in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania.  There, Dolores taught nursing at Allegheny Valley Hospital.  Dolores especially treasured her Roman Catholic Faith, leading to extensive service in the Christian Mothers group at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, where she also taught religious education classes.  Dolores delivered great comfort and mercy to the faithful departed of the Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament church and their families as a member of the Resurrection Choir.  She regularly provided her guidance, vision, and leadership in more than forty years as a member of Pennsylvanians for Human Life, and was a frequent participant in the annual March for Life in Washington, DC.  Her sharp-witted letters to the editor frequently graced the pages of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Valley News Dispatch.  Dolores and Jacob regularly returned to Notre Dame and Saint Mary’s for football games and reunions.  Dolores is survived by her children, Dr. Mary Dvorak, Colonel (Ret) US Air Force, Jacob (Jennifer) Dvorak, Miriam (Mark) Wennersten, Jacinta (Michael O’Connell) Dvorak, Therese (Thomas) Dymek, and John (Megan) Dvorak, Lieutenant Colonel (Promotable) US Army; as well as fourteen grandchildren.  She was especially close to her granddaughter Mary O’Connell and helped her with pandemic Zoom lessons at the Saint Anthony Program at Blessed Trinity Academy.  She was predeceased by her beloved infant grandson, Jacob Michael O’Connell.  Before her death, Dolores frequently told her children that she wanted Mass offerings instead of flowers for her funeral.  Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Anthony School Programs, 2000 Corporate Drive #580, Wexford, PA 15090, stanthonykids.org.

She was an active member of Grace United Methodist church and volunteered at the Allegheny Valley Hospital as well as the Alle-Kiski Health Foundation. She is survived by two daughters, Janet Farren of the North Hills, and Linda McMannis of New Kensington, three grandsons – Will Farren (Kaytee), Stephen and Timothy McMannis, great granddaughter Rosalie Grace and her sister Marjorie Walters of York, PA.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 1998, her parents Edwin and Mary (Wagner) Elwood, her brothers John and Harold and her sister, Grace Beers.
