Maggie Crosier - March 03, 2014 - December 29, 2020

Departed: 12/29/2020 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Maggie Crosier, 6, died in her father’s loving arms on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.
She was born on March 3, 2014, four days after her mother Samantha, a stay cat, found her way to the home of Park Crosier of Canonsburg. He took Samantha in from the cold, provided her with veterinary care, and made a comfortable box in his home for the birth. Maggie was one of three kittens born that day.
Maggie is survived by her sibling sister, Rosie and her adoring daddy, Park. Over the past 2 ½ years, Maggie and her sister filled a tremendous void in his life.
Pets love unconditionally and in a very special way that only pet lovers can fully understand. They show love and support and Maggie did just that.
Maggie will be missed beyond imagination and she leaves a void beyond measure. She will always be one of Park’s girls.
May she rest in peace.

Gwyneth "Wynnie" Callegari - Unknown - November 21, 2020

Departed: 11/21/2020 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Gwyneth "Wynnie" Callegari, an adored Golden Retriever passed away in her home surrounded by her beloved family on November 21, 2020.
At the beginning of her life she was very sick and had been surrendered to a shelter with a litter of her sick puppies.  Her puppies all passed away but Wynnie persevered. She went on to live a long life with her parents Chris and Taylor Callegari.
She was a steadfast companion who watched her parents get married, and bring home three of her most treasured babies. She was a dutiful "mama" to their three children Lola, Isla and Rowan.
She stood guard every day of Taylor's pregnancies and every day of the childrens' lives up until the day she crossed the rainbow bridge.
She was a best friend to Chris, and took countless rock-climbing trips with him as they camped and hiked the great outdoors. She enjoyed swimming in lakes, rivers and streams and making friends with every human along the way.
She was a decorated dog, she took a test and passed with flying colors, making her a certified American Kennel Club's Good Citizen Canine, which made her family very proud.
Last year, Wynnie and her dad Chris took a cross country trip by car from their old home in Holly Springs, North Carolina to their new home of Olympia, Washington.  She was notorious for escaping her yard every now and then to pay a friendly visit to her neighbors and to take a dip in the nearby creek. Everyone adored Wynnie, even those who didn't love dogs.  She had so many friends in her former home in North Carolina, and had already made  friends in her new home.
Wynnie will be missed beyond measure. She leaves a void as big as the sun. Forever and ever loved, everyone's Golden Girl.

Abbey Louise Helicke - Unknown - November 06, 2020

Departed: 11/06/2020 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Abbey Louise Helicke, a sweet and sassy Jack Russell Terrier, owned by Jim and Mary Helicke of Washington, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Friday, November 6, 2020. She was preceded in death by her sibling Amos.
The Helicke family adopted Abbey and her brother Amos when they were eight weeks old. It was immediately apparent that she was the Alpha dog and that it was her purpose to annoy him.
Abbey would have made a great farm dog because she loved to be outside where she could hunt for small critters.
She also loved to go on long walks and she loved to jump in the creek to cool off. When she was indoors, she loved to destroy squeaky toys. She was super intelligent and knew many tricks. She would do anything for treats (mainly carrots) and would follow her family around thinking she would get one. She had an annoying beg-bark that she knew would get her a treat every time.
Abbey had an intimidating posture, but was truly very sweet and mild.
Sleep tight little girl. We will always love you. This memorial was provided as a complimentary service of the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, PA 15314 * www.thompson-marodi.com

Cosmo Los - Unknown - August 14, 2020

Departed: 08/14/2020 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Cosmo, a faithful, loving, orange tabby cat, died on August 14, 2020. He was the beloved companion of Mary Jane Los and he blessed her life more than she could ever tell.
She adopted Cosmo from the Washington Area Humane Society in Eighty Four in 2006 when he was nine months, shortly after the death of her second husband. He lived with her in Ellsworth, Leechburg, Westmoreland County, and Vandergrift.
Cosmo hated riding in a car and vocalized his displeasure when it was time to go to the vet or move. Sometimes, he made so much noise that his mother had to close the car windows. He loved chasing his tail almost as if it did not belong to him; sometimes the tail chasing resulted in somersaults.
He was an indoor cat until he and his mother moved to Rich’s farm in 2010, when he blossomed into an indoor/outdoor cat who snatched up all sorts of critters and brought them in through the doggie door.  If he felt like it, he even let the critters loose inside of the farmhouse.
Cosmo had a dog pal named Roxie and together they would search out the critters: Cosmo sniffed them out and Roxie caught them.
Cosmo, who was also known as Mr. C, brought his family immeasurable pleasure during his 14 years of life and will always hold a special place in their hearts.

Mya Vickless - Unknown - August 03, 2020

Departed: 08/03/2020 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Mya arrived at the door in January of 2009 as a stray and never left.
Ever since she has been a member of the Vickless family of Scenery Hill, where she lived with John, Tonya, Matthew, and Morgan.
Mya, a 12-year-old beagle / rottweiler / Labrador mix, passed away on August 3, 2020.
She loved food and lots of attention. She was very smart and she knew that when her daddy was home she wasn’t allowed on the upstairs furniture or in the kitchen. But when daddy wasn’t home, she ruled the house.
You couldn’t leave any food on the tables, counters, or in boxes (as the kids found out when they would move back home from college). The garbage can always had to be put up and she once ate a whole sheet cake from Bethel bakery herself. She loved it when her grandma and Dex visited, because they always snuck her extra treats.
Mya liked to be outside in the sun and she loved to visit with the neighbor dog.
She wasn’t allowed to beg for food but she would stare at you until you looked at her; then she would look away. She thought she was a lap dog, loved belly rubs, and taking over the whole bed.
Every one of her toys had a name and if you told her to “go get piggy” she would fetch that toy.
She was an attack dog that attacked people with kisses.
The most important thing to know about Mya was that she was loved and that she will always be missed. This memorial was provided as a complimentary service of the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, PA 15314 * www.thompson-marodi.com

Amos Helicke - Unknown - July 15, 2020

Departed: 07/15/2020 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Amos Helicke, the beloved and fierce Jack Russel terrier (terrorist), went over the Rainbow Bridge on July 15, 2020, to be with Ben (German Shepherd), Daisy (mixed breed), Crumpet (miniature cockapoo); and Winston (Jack Russel terrier).  He was 15 years old and will be missed forever by his parents Mary and Jim Helicke of Washington.
He joined the Helicke family when was 8 weeks old. He was very ornery, and joined with his sister Abbey in the mischievous fun of eating through a reclining chair and taking bites out of the basement steps.
Amos knew how to open the door to let himself out, however, he never learned how to close the door when he came back in. He jumped like a jumping bean and could actually do a flip to catch a ball. He always found the “squeak” in a toy, and therefore a squeaky toy never lasted more than a day.
He was a smiler, showing his teeth at every happy moment. House guests sometimes needed convinced that he was friendly. His wagging, stubby tail, as well as his body pushed sideways, always gave away his unique display of joy.
Amos knew a lot of tricks that he and his sister could do in unison. He was always on the hunt for small critters and definitely wasn’t happy when other dogs were nearby.
He loved to eat carrots and would follow his parents around until he got one.
The Helicke house is different without Amos. They hope he is as happy as he made them and they want him to know that he has their unconditional love forever. Max Lukich - July 25, 2007 - March 25, 2020

Departed: 03/25/2020 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Max was the best dog I ever had! He was born July 25, 2007, and passed away on March 25, 2020, due to a massive tumor.
He was friendly with everyone, yet protected the house with his bark.
He loved to play with his different toys, some of his favorites were his Grinch, mustache, moose, and any type of ball. He always had a smile and a wagging tail when I came home or even just talked to him.
He loved laying on his couch, his big soft bed, and even in his pen, which was like his own little room.
Max loved his human siblings, and his “niece and nephew!” He was so gentle; he would lay sleeping with an 18-month-old crawling over him and he would just turn his head and look at him. Max was my therapy support over the last 11 months of dealing with the loss of Tony. He is survived me, his mom Debbie; siblings Joe (Jamie), Chris, and Caitie; and niece and nephew, Riley and Logan. He will be missed always!

Peri "Peezy" Callegari - Unknown - January 30, 2020

Departed: 01/30/2020 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Peri, our cat who we very fondly called Peezy, was born in April of 2005 and disappeared from our home in Olympia, Washington on January 30, 2020.
She was adored by everyone who met her. Her mom Taylor was not a cat person until the day she met Peri. Peri chose Taylor the day they met when she jumped into her lap to snuggle.  Taylor and Peri were best friends ever since.
Peri moved with Taylor from Pennsylvania to North Carolina in 2009. She adjusted well to the warm climates as she enjoyed sunbathing in the sage and roses in the front yard daily.  She enjoyed hunting, batting Q-tips around the bathroom floor, eating frozen peas, and snuggling her parents, her dog sister Wynnie and her three human babies Lola, Isla and Rowan.  Peri was a very vocal cat. Every time any of her human babies would be heard crying, Peri would come running and meowing until the baby stopped crying.
Peri never met a person she didn't like. She was very trusting and loving. We hope that wherever she is, she is at peace and knows that we will miss her and love her forever.

Oreo Lukich - Unknown - September 05, 2019

Departed: 09/05/2019 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Oreo was a great cat who was a beloved member of the Lukich family of Bentleyville. He passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019.
He loved cuddling with his mother Debbie and lying in her lap.
But it was his sister Caitie who actually fell in love with him on a very cold December day in 2004, when she saw him outside of the family’s church. He was just a kitten and he kept trying to get into the church. As soon as Caitie saw him she fell in love and picked him up. She held him before Sunday school, and she went back outside to hold him during the break between Sunday school and church.  After church, Caitie wouldn’t put him down. Debbie also felt bad for the small, black and white beautiful kitten and asked the neighbors if they had lost a kitten. That’s when they learned that someone had dropped off a bunch of kittens by the church. So, Oreo went home with the Lukich family, where he was given food, water and a warm place to live. After a few days he was accepted and welcomed by the family's two adult cats.
Oreo liked to go outside occasionally, but he always came back and stayed close to the house.
He leaves behind his buddy Max the Dog and his older sister, Tigger. This memorial was provided as a complimentary service of the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, PA 15314 * www.thompson-marodi.com

Pumpkin "Miss Kitty" Nicholson - Unknown - August 28, 2019

Departed: 08/28/2019 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Pumpkin “Ms. Kitty” Nicholson, 16 years old, went to sleep Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at the home of her parents, Wayne and Prudy Nicholson of Bentleyville.
She was born October 2002 in Bentleyville.
Pumpkin, a beautiful tortoiseshell kitten, strolled into our lives on December 1, 2002 from the Andrew Latta family.  She was only supposed to stay overnight until we could take her back home in the morning, but she became a precious member of our family when she cuddled with her new dad that first night and changed his mind.
She was our “invisible” kitty because when friends came to visit, they would never see her and some didn’t even know we had a cat.  She only came out of hiding long enough to eat, use her litter box, and cuddle with her mom and sister Chrissy or to chase and nip some unsuspecting passerby on their feet and legs and then she'd take off running.
She stayed indoors and only ventured outside when her mom was with her.
Ms. Kitty is survived by her parents, sister Chrissy (Zach Fogle) of Monroeville; brother Jeff (Larissa) of North Charleroi; fur sister Maxie (at home); and her niece and nephew Aly and Warren.
Pumpkin was a very important part of our family and will be forever missed. This memorial was provided as a complimentary service of the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, PA 15314 * www.thompson-marodi.com

Izzy Taylor - Unknown - August 11, 2019

Departed: 08/11/2019 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Izzy, our beloved Jack Russell Terrier, was born in November of 2005 and passed away on August 11, 2019.  She was the sweetest dog that was a constant through many life changes.
Izzy entered our family as a college pet in 2005.  She adjusted well as she moved to 11 different homes throughout the years in both North Carolina and the state of Georgia.  She adapted to gaining a best friend and life partner Cooper in 2007, having her own puppy in 2007, the marriage of her human parents in 2009, and gaining a new baby human in 2015.
Although she had many behavior quirks as she grew older, she was a kind animal that could be trusted around any animal or person.  She loved laying in the sunshine and exploring the outdoors.  She loved treats, going on walks, and having visitors in her home so that there was always a lap to sit on and a free hand to pet her.
She was “the boss lady” and we will continue to carry on the memory of her bright, sassy personality through the many photos, portraits, and videos we have of her.  She will always be missed. Simon Ross - Unknown - July 26, 2019

Departed: 07/26/2019 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Simon, a boxer mix with a beautiful brindle coat, was well loved by his mom and dad, Wayne and Sandy Ross of Raleigh, NC, and fur sister, Molly.
On July 26, 2019, just six days after his brother Dewey crossed over the rainbow bridge, Simon died at the age of about 14 years.
In March of 2007, he was adopted from the Wake County Animal Shelter when he was one or two years old. Simon established his place as dominant member of the family once he was adopted as he chewed his way through the garage and set about proving that no 6-foot-fence could retain him.  When the fence height was raised, he learned to dig his way out and under. Eventually his age and weight prevented him from escaping to chase deer in the woods.
When his dad started watching other dogs at the home, he was king of the backyard as he kept the peace between all family members and visitors. He took it upon himself to teach all dogs how to use the dog door. He was the best boy as he struggled to make sure he used the dog door even on the morning he passed away.
Simon was self-appointed caretaker of his brother Dewey, as he nursed him after each seizure and, we believe, he hung on well past the average age of his breed just to make sure Dewey was OK. Once Dewey passed over the rainbow bridge, Simon was then free to join him.
Though not a fan of cats, Simon enjoyed most other animals and people, though he liked to scare visitors with his enthusiastic barking keeping them straight.  His calm presence with his family members will be dearly missed but he remains in our hearts. Dewey Ross - November 14, 2009 - July 20, 2019

Departed: 07/20/2019 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Dewey, a mixed breed, possibly a hound dog in there somewhere, was born November 14, 2009. He passed peacefully over the rainbow bridge on July 20, 2019 surrounded by his mom and dad, Wayne and Sandy Ross.
He is dearly missed by his family including fur brother, Simon, and sister, Molly.
Despite being plagued by seizures for most of his life, he was close to 10 years old when he passed.
Dewey was the gentlest dog ever in the family.  Not only did he rarely bark, he was never known to bare his teeth, bite, or even raise the hair on his back.  The only growls he ever emitted were during rough play with his sister Molly.
Though he could ring a bell with his paw when he was young, his skill set was mostly sleeping and, at times, pacing.  He never developed a love of toys, but chasing his sister was a favorite activity.
Never a fan of loud noises, Dewey’s anxieties multiplied as his years of seizures increased.  His twice daily medication provided a rhythm to his days and often a break from the debilitating seizures, but in the end wasn’t enough to keep him here on earth.
He loved his family during his time here and was well loved in return. This memorial was provided as a complimentary service of the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, PA 15314 * www.thompson-marodi.com

Hogan Hite - February 18, 2007 - July 15, 2019

Departed: 07/15/2019 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Hulk Hogan, a 12-year-old Chihuahua, owned by Wayne and Trudy Hite of Bentleyville, passed away on July 15, 2019.
He was born on February 18, 2007, in Savannah, Georgia.
He loved to take car trips to Pennsylvania for visits, joining his family on every trip they ever took. He enjoyed hotel stays and if a hotel wasn’t "dog friendly” he would sneak in by quietly hiding in his "Hannah Montana" bag.
Hogan moved to Bentleyville with his parents in 2009, but he was not a fan of the cold weather and he hated the snow. As a matter of fact, being a southerner, he never understood snow and his family would have to sweep the snow off of the grass for him to potty.  He also hated Halloween, but he got dressed up anyway.
In June, Hogan was photographed for the Bentleyville Area Historical Society's 2020 Pet Calendar, along with his sister, Sophie and his brother, Piper.
He loved all people and as soon someone sat down, he climbed onto their lap. He loved the sun; hot weather and his toy rubber ducks.  There were five beds in his house, but he would sleep on the couch and in bed with his mom and dad. His need to be near his mom was so great that he would sleep on her desk everyday while she worked in her office.
He is missed more than anyone could ever comprehend. This memorial was provided as a complimentary service of the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, PA 15314 * www.thompson-marodi.com

Peanut Ross - September 12, 2002 - June 06, 2019

Departed: 06/06/2019 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Peanut crossed the rainbow bridge on June 6, 2019. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all that knew him!
Peanut was the first dog that I owned as an adult. I adopted him as a 4-year-old dog. At the time I adopted him, I lived in South Beach Florida.  Oddly enough he was born in Marianna, PA, not far from where I grew up. A friend from back home moved down and decided she couldn’t take care of him any longer. Peanut was infamous in Miami. He was dainty, fawn-colored chihuahua and possessed the most succulent lips I have ever seen on a dog! People would often jokingly ask if his lips were real or augmented. When I first adopted him, a couple got in the elevator of my building and shouted “Peanut!” I did not know this couple, but they knew Peanut from his previous owner.
Peanut was a relatively chill dog. He wasn’t much for shenanigans? He was the perfect lap dog. Every time I would leave him, he would cry so loud that one could easily hear him from blocks away. I was nearly evicted once because of his war cries. He didn’t like to be alone. Another strange thing I noticed about him is he was very leery of tall men with hats. He would bark his head off at them from a safe distance. He always had a particular fondness for “female” humans. He was definitely a lady’s man for sure.
He wasn’t particularly fond of fast-moving toddlers or small children either? He would dart, snap and yap at them, but he never ever bit a soul in his life. Peanut loved my homemade turkey meatballs and had a fondness for tuna fish in a can. He would swallow any piece of meat that you gave him whole! He only ran away from home once. My friends and I formed a search party looking for him and we finally found him hanging out at the local Catholic Church. He knew where he would be safe. No one ever accused Peanut of being dumb.
Peanut had many nicknames lovingly given to him throughout his lifetime. Here is the list in no particular order: Putt, Peen, The Nut, Mayor McPeanut, Peener Neener, Peaner Neens, P’nit and Taco Bell. We were together for close to 13 years before I had to make the tough decision to put him down. His little body was giving up but his spirit was too strong for him to go on his own.  My friend Amy and Dasher (Peanut’s brother) were there to say goodbye when he passed. It was very peaceful and beautiful! He was ready. He was an amazing pup and adored by all that met him in his long lifetime! I miss you Peanut and I will love you forever!! Gracie Yancich - May 22, 2006 - September 30, 2018

Departed: 09/30/2018 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Gracie, a beautiful fawn boxer girl, was adopted by the Yancich Family in the summer of 2006.
Her favorite things were young children, sunny days spent lounging on her screened-in porch, belly rubs, lullabies and squeaky toys.
Gracie loved treats of all kinds, though she never mastered the art of catching them in her mouth. She especially enjoyed cheese, marshmallows, yogurt and peanut butter. Every year for her birthday, Gracie got to enjoy a slice of cake, along with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. She loved hearing the 'Happy Birthday' song, as she knew it would lead to her special treat.
When Gracie was three, she adopted a baby boxer sister, Gabby. Gracie took Gabby under her wing, teaching her how to be a sweet, gentle girl. Gracie loved to cuddle and play with her sister, and thrived on acting as a maternal figure. She loved to 'tattle' on Gabby, and enjoyed nipping at her back legs as they played.
Gracie loved her people with all of her big doggie heart. She was able to communicate with just a look, letting her family know exactly how she felt - it was as if she was part human, which she wholeheartedly believed.
Gracie was stubborn, but she never let that stop her from making her family happy; she shared in their joy and comforted them when they were sad. She was the most perfect companion. Her sweet memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family - Tom, Mary Lynn, Jamie, Jason, Michael and Gabby. Jake Warco - Unknown - August 16, 2018

Departed: 08/16/2018 (Bentleyville)
Obituary Preview: Jake, or Bowser as he was known at the Greene County Humane Society in December of 2008, has Emily Warco to thank for becoming a part of our family. She was quite angry when we left that Saturday, but I did call that Monday and agreed to adopt him if he passed the "kitty test."
Jake, who was found running the back roads of Greene County, likely never lived in a home. We had to teach steps. But he quickly became a beloved member of our family, proving to be a kind, loving, gentle soul. And an infamous storm tracker, predicting a storm's approach with more accuracy than a paid meteorologist.
The sun may have been shining August 16, 2018, but it was a dark day in our home when we had to let him cross the rainbow bridge. As his dad said, "There will never be another Jake!"
