Departed: 03/21/2022 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: Scruffy Curry, age 25, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, March 21, 2022.  He was born in 1997; what a true testament of the love and care he received to have lived such a long and full life!
Scruffy came to be a part of the Curry family when a snowstorm hit the area and he stowed away in Tim’s car riding all the way to their house.  Tim took him in providing him a loving home with lots of adventure.  Tim was his human, he loved him dearly!  They hit the road in Tim’s travel trailer. In Scruffy’s younger years, he enjoyed taking walks on a leash.  His leash walking skills would surprise everyone they met at the campgrounds. His favorite thing to do while outside was to hunt lizards.
After Tim passed away in December of 2020, Scruffy moved in with his aunt Marcy Luttrell and kitty cousins.
Scruffy is survived by his kitty cousins, Safie and Badeye.
His human and travel buddy, Tim Curry, was waiting on him in Heaven at the end of the Rainbow Bridge. “There are few things in life more heartwarming than to be welcomed by a cat.” –Tay Hohoff

The Cole family got Gracie as a rescue, so they do not know the exact date of her birth. However, the goal when the Cole family welcomed Gracie into their home was simply to love her as long as possible! Gracie added so much love and life to the Cole household. She could often be found playing with one of her squeaky toys, making her presence known throughout the house. Gracie was a good girl, and often received treats. EL Fudge cookies were her absolute favorite. Her personality was sweet, loyal, and loving…and she was a great little cuddler. Gracie earned the reputation for being the best dog the Cole family had ever had! She will be missed beyond measure!

Little Miss Princess Dozer Daniel "Dozie" Salinas - November 30, 2008 - March 11, 2022

Departed: 03/11/2022 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: Little Miss Princess Dozer Daniel Salinas, age 13, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Friday, March 11, 2022.  She was born on November 30, 2008.
Her family wrote a beautiful tribute to their special girl, Dozie.
We got Dozie at 11 weeks old from the state of Kentucky. They called her mama Ladybug (Lady). Dozie got her name from bulldozing her way through all the puppies to get to her mama, thus her name, Dozer.  But since she was a girl, we called her Dozie! She was very curious girl so if you didn’t see her, you better go look because the spunky girl was the most likely into something she was not supposed to be into! This is how she got her name Nosey Dozie but on her good days, Dozie Doe! We got her brother Louie (Lefty Louie) when Dozie he was six months old, but she was always the boss and would quite frequently bully and scold him but were the best of bully friends until Louie passed away May 12, 2020.
Dozie and Louis both had their favorite stuffed animals and funny thing was they kneaded and acted as if they were nursing off them. Dozie's was a little pink pig and Louie’s a big Winnie the Pooh! One of Dozie‘s favorite things was cold weather especially the snow; she loved eating snow, and it didn’t matter how many bowls of water we had in the house, she wanted the water bowl outside because the water was ice cold.
We were heartbroken when our sweet boy Louis passed and Dozie‘s passing has left us with so much pain in our hearts. We loved both of these bullies so much but we got a whole year and a half with Dozie so it’s been so hard. Dozie was preceded by Louis and leaves behind furbaby, Honey; her daddy, Robert Salinas; her momma Eva Salinas; sisters, Stacy, Angela, and her favorite sister, Erica! Dozie loved all of the grandkids! Dozie will forever be loved and in our hearts!!! "It's not what we have in life, but who we have in our lives that matters."

Jackson Sharp - February 14, 2003 - February 21, 2022

Departed: 02/21/2022 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: Jackson’s mom, Malisha wrote a beautiful tribute to her special boy.
Jackson Sharp passed away February 21, 2022. He was born February 14, 2003 in Sheridan, Indiana.
19 years ago he was supposed to be a barn cat, but he ended up an inside cat that weighted almost 20 pounds.  But, he was no ordinary cat. He had great training from Fredia, a dog he grew up with for several years.
He leaned how to sit for treats, play fetch, and when someone would knock at the door, he was growling, but could not bark. He absolutely loved dog food. To the point I had to give him vitamins that he was missing from cat food.  He absolutely loved the sun, and he knew when the Christmas tree came out, he had a place to lay for couple of months. He even got to the point he wanted the tree lights on ALL the time. He let me know about it if I shut them off. He loved the light from the tree.  Jackson was my best friend. He knew all my secrets (because we had many chats), and was there when humans were not. He loved me unconditionally and gave me the strength to live life, when life was dark for me.  I will forever be grateful for his love and companionship. He wanted to stick around long enough to know I was OK. He helped me down the road to find love and companionship besides him.
I love you sweet Jackson. Rest easy my friend. I can not wait to see you in heaven when the time comes. I know you are in good hands with God, and my mom (Kathy Sharp).
Here on earth: Malisha Sharp, Zach Phifer, and Brynlee Lawson. Jackson's AMAZING sitters, Shannon Hinton and Kim Stakelback.  In Heaven: Kathy Sharp and Donna Bagley. They loved him so much.

Ruby Tobias - May 01, 2009 - February 06, 2022

Departed: 02/06/2022 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: Ruby Tobias, age 12, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Sunday February 6, 2022, with her loving family by her side.  She was born around May of 2009 and hit the jackpot when she was adopted by the Tobias/Spears family from the Kokomo Humane Society on September 16, 2009. Ruby was adopted on a whim and a picture. During the adoption process, she managed to chew through one leash and half of the second leash. Skylar knew then and there that she would be hard to hold down but loved her spirit!
Ruby would come to many nicknames; The Dubler, Ru-Ru, Pretty Girl, not that she would ever be far enough away to have to call her to you.  She had no sense of personal space, a true “lap dog” even though she was nowhere near the size of a lap dog.  She really just wanted you to know she was with you, not that she could have been forgotten. She loved to go for rides whether that was in a car or on the mule around the country roads; she was always ready to go!  Her favorite place to go for a ride was anywhere that she could get ice cream!  It was one of her favorite treats although she wasn’t picky.  She enjoyed just about any treat but ice cream, cheese, chicken nuggets and crackers were at the top of the list.
In true Labrador fashion, she was always happy and full of energy! She had a huge heart and was always so grateful to be included in any activity.  If for some reason she felt as if she was being left out, she made sure to include herself in the activities. She was a lab, through and through.  The one way that Ruby differed from practically every other lab known to man, she hated water!  It didn’t matter if it was a bath, the hose, or a puddle of water on the ground, she would avoid it at all costs, even walking around puddles instead of barreling right through them like most other labs.
Her Momma, Skylar, said Ruby was her constant. She was there for it all. Break-ups, death in the family, moving out on her own, raising a puppy by, getting married, and lastly, having a baby. It was Skylar and Ruby against the world. She truly was a Girl’s Best Friend.  Ruby did not know a stranger.  She touched so many lives, her sweet spirit will be missed by so many. "Everyone thinks they have the best dog. And none of them are wrong." ~W.R. Purche

Trudy Wolverton - October 01, 2021 - February 04, 2022

Departed: 02/04/2022 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: Little Trudy Wolverton, age 4 months, passed over the rainbow bridge on Friday, February 3, 2022.  Trudy only lived 4 months, however her mom, Carol Wolverton crammed a lifetime of love into that time. Trudy was a feral cat. She was a free spirit and loved to explore with her brothers and sisters. When the exploring was done, Trudy knew she could come back to Carol's doorstep, to get her belly full of food, and her heart full of Carol's nurturing, unconditional love.
For Carol, this is a way of life. Animals do not have a voice! They depend on humans to be their advocates, stewards, and caregivers! Thank goodness for people like Carol, who have a passion and heart for the care of animals! Carol, thank you for being an example and reminder of this ever present need that exists in our community.
*Carol would like to encourage anyone who might be looking for a worthy cause in which to donate; please give to your local Humane Society. "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains un-awakened."  ~Anatole France

Alberta Joy Cowan - November 20, 2010 - January 24, 2022

Departed: 01/24/2022 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: Alberta Joy Cowan, age 11, passed over the rainbow bridge on Monday, January 24, 2022. She was born on November 20, 2010. The Cowan kids will never forget the day that Alberta arrived at their house. Their Grandma Karen knocked on the front door, blew past her daughter, and immediately yelled for her grandkids. As she stood holding this sweet little dog she said to the kids, "Look what Grandma got for ya!" She then slyly looked at her daughter and asked, "Mommy it's ok if they keep this cute little puppy, right?" Ugh.....and that's how it's done, kids!!
Although her tactics were shady at best, Alberta is one of the best gifts my mom could have ever given me! That little dog made our house a home and made all of our days a little brighter. To describe her in one word...Loving!! She was a cuddler, and always preferred to be snuggled up to one of her family members. She never slept in her crate....she always ended up in a bed, usually mine! Despite her 5 pound stature, she took up a lot of room! It was comical, she would stretch and lay in weird directions, and never fail to own whoever's bed she chose to end up in. Alberta was the perfect lap dog, and loved curling up watching movies. If you could provide her with a blanket to hide under, then you would be the person she chose to cuddle with. However, she would abandon her favorite person, blanket, or anything really to get popcorn. Her love of popcorn superseded any other need! There isn't much that dog wouldn't do to get a piece of popcorn. In fact, she got to be pretty good at a few tricks so she could earn her popcorn. What stands out in my mind the most is the love that this sweet girl showed to each of my children! For Blayne, (oldest child) she was a friend! He had wanted a dog for a long time....he was ready to do all the work entailed with having a dog. Alberta seemed to know this about Blayne, and even appreciate it!  Their bond was strong, and I'd bet that little dog knew all of his secrets! Blayne will never forget the day when little Alberta drank half of his rootbeer. It was hot outside, and he had begged to go get a fountain drink. I finally gave in and went and got the drinks. I think I had told the kids to keep the drinks outside....anyway Blayne sit his rootbeer down and got sidetracked. We were all talking and all of a sudden heard a strange noise. We found Berta in the garage with her whole face inside the cup drinking as fast as she could. I can't even remember how that story ended...he might have finished drinking it?? For Clayton, (middle child) he loved Alberta but she probably wasn't at the very top of his priority list. She still loved him very much! One thing I remember well is during summer vacation Clay often hosted backyard baseball parties. It seemed Berta would get loose frequently during those and run around like a chicken with her head cut off and none of us could catch her! It was hilarious to watch all the boys have to pause the game and try to catch the poof ball running 90 miles an hour around the yard! Another funny Clay/Berta story.....we had run out of dog food, so I asked Clay if he could feed her some hotdog to hold her over until I got back home with her food. Several hours later I got home....fully expected to be greeted at the door by an excited, energetic little dog. I open the door, and nothing! I yelled for her and she came around the corner at the pace of a turtle. I picked her up and her belly was ginormous. I called Clay in and asked if he had noticed the way she was acting. I said this is scary, she's so slow and she's so bloated.... Something is wrong with her!!! I said did you feed her a few bites of hotdog earlier? He said, "Yes, six!" I asked, "six bites?" He said, "No, six hotdogs!" For Miriam, (youngest child) Alberta was sort of a play toy! I couldn't even tell you how many times that dog was dressed in American Girl doll clothes. She took it like a champ though! Miriam was a bit clumsy in her young years...she may have fell on the dog a couple times, and maybe even dropped the dog a few times. Berta was pretty resilient though and pulled through every time. It's safe to say that Berta tried her best to stay clear of Miriam for a few years....however, in the last few years Miriam became the one who cared for her the most. She fed her every day, gave her baths, took her outside, and of course loved her daily! She more than made up for all the trauma she caused early on! Lots of comedy, but in all honesty this animal was around for my kids' childhood years! She was so loving and so sweet. I feel extremely thankful that my children had the opportunity to experience the loyal kind of love that only animals can give. She was the perfect gift from their Grandma Karen!

Sophia Schenher - May 01, 2010 - January 22, 2022

Departed: 01/22/2022 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: Sophia Schenher, age 11, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday, January 22, 2022.  She was born in May of 2010 in an abandon house just down the road from her forever home.  Her mom, Kim, took in the litter of kittens and made sure they all went to very loving homes.  Kim could not part with little Sophia, the runt of the litter.
Sophia would come to many nicknames; Sophie, Petey, Fancy Toes, and Sugar Toes.  She was a very shy and timid girl but so very sweet and gentle natured.  They don’t come any more loving that Sophie!  Her favorite thing to do was to curl up on her momma’s lap and snooze without a care in the world.
Sophie had a condition called Bartonella and eye issues of an unknown etiology.  Eventually she lost an eye but with great care, her family was able to maintain the other eye that still had some peripheral vision left in it.  They were very careful not to rearrange furniture or have things out of place, so Sophie was comfortable moving around the house.
Sophie would often wait for her Mommy to come home from work and would follow her downstairs in the mornings so she could pat her bum while she ate.  Her favorite treats were shrimp and chicken, she never passed it up!  Sophie was very chatty!  She would grunt or meow every time her parent’s pet, touch, spoke to her. Sophie’s “boyfriend” was a cat named Oreo.  She would groom him, and they spent so much of their day playing together.  Her favorite place to sleep was laying on her mommy’s chest, belly, or legs or curling up next to her face.  Her Momma was her favorite person in the whole world!  She will be greatly missed
Sophie is survived by his parents Darrin & Kim Schenher and her cat siblings Oreo, Fox, Maggie, Lilly; her dog sibling, Ingo; and her foster cat sibling, Whisper. “The memories and paw print of a beloved cat remains in our heart and soul forever.” – Unknown

Scout "Scouty Boy" Pearson - July 25, 2005 - January 06, 2022

Departed: 01/06/2022 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: Scout "Scouty Boy" Pearson, age 16, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday, January 6, 2022, surrounded by those he loved most in this world.  He was born on July 25, 2005.
Scout was such a one-of-a-kind guy; he was fun, very loving, loyal, and yes could be a stinker at times but that made him all the more loveable. He was always such a good sport when his mom wanted to dress him up in his costumes for the holidays.  One time she bought some boots and a jacket for him as it was cold out and he flipped his back legs up and walked down the outside stairs on his front paws, it was so hilarious!  He would walk like that in the house as well and shake his feet trying to get them off.
Scout was a true momma’s boy, he loved to follow her around the house and outside.  Wherever she was, you could find him right beside her. When you would talk to him, he would talk back, truly just made everyone giggle. His favorite treat was Filet Mignon meaty milk bones, and his family was happy to oblige. When his family had visitors at their home, they always had to greet him so that he knew you were ok, then would go lay down.  He loved people and never new a stranger once he got to know you which was usually in the first five minutes!  Scout was very protective of his human brother as well; always following him around as a toddler and making sure he was ok. His mom, Becky, had a very sweet story to share about how he came into their family:
I was out and about one brisk October day shopping and decided to stop in the pet store to look at the fish tanks and just see what they had for animals, I walked into this back room and here was this cute little brown puppy with a black face and big sad eyes in the back of his cage.  I stood there, he came up and I was talking to him and petting him.  I left and did some more errands and I could not stop thinking of that adorable little guy, I went back to the pet store and there was some people walking around that room and stopping to see him, he would not come up to the front of the cage for them to see him, I walked up to the cage after them and he immediately came to the front, I asked if I could hold him, they took him out and he just snuggled into my arms.  That was all I needed to know is that he wanted to go home with me and so we went to the front and paid, he and I started our journey.   Scout was such an amazing companion, he helped me through some of the toughest times in my life, he was also amazing for my mom until she passed, he was always at her side as well.  We had 16-1/2years with him, he is missed so much.  Run Free sweet boy until we meet again, greet your grandparents for us.
Scout is survived by Human Mom Becky & Brother Tayeb.
His grandma & grandpa were waiting for him at the end of the Rainbow Bridge ready to show him the beauty of Heaven.
Please feel free to leave a condolence or share a special memory of Scout with his family on his tribute wall. When I look into the eyes of an animal,
I do not see an animal.
I see a living being.
I see a friend.
I see a soul.

Mona Watson - February 15, 2006 - November 16, 2021

Departed: 11/16/2021 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: Mona passed over the rainbow bridge on November 16, 2021 surrounded by her loving family!!
This tribute was written by Mona’s mom, Valerie.
Mona’s original name was Simone, but according to her first family they only called her that when she was in trouble. Her nickname was Mona, so that is what we called her. Favorite activity- When she was younger- herding the kids, escaping the backyard and roaming the neighborhood/visiting the horses; In her older age-sleeping and going for car rides Favorite treat- cheese, meat, peanut butter, bread from Burger King chicken sandwich Personality- happy and carefree when she was younger, but came to be a grouchy, old lady when she got older
Mona was surrendered to the humane society by her first family when she was 1. Another family took her home, but were unable to give her the home she needed, so we brought her into our home. She fit right in and found her forever home.
When Mona was younger she was quite the escape artist and was found wandering around the neighborhood many times, often visiting the horses who lived close by. She was picked up a few times by the police and even had to spend a night in puppy jail. As Mona got older she no longer tolerated excessive amounts of play by her younger siblings. She would let them know that play time was over by taking the toys away from them.
Mona was not just our pet. She was a member of the family. She always greeted us at the door when we got home and stayed close by at all times. Survivors (human and furry)- Human mom (Valerie), dad (Jason), sisters (Lydia and Emma), and brother (Jack); Furry sisters Sadie and Alice; Preceded in death by furry sister Yuki

Departed: 11/02/2021 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: Lilly Peel ( our Lilly Girl ), age 10 years 11 months, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge with her Mom & Dad by her side.  She was born on November 24, 2010. Lilly's mom, Jamie wrote a beautiful tribute to their girl:
I only got the privilege of having Lilly in my life for the past 5 years. She was a very special bonus to marrying her daddy in 2016. Her daddy on the other hand had her since she was 6 weeks old. Lilly was one of a kind she was smart, beautiful (even when she was rolling in the dirt after a bath) intelligent, and the most obedient dog I have ever known. She had the most soulful dark brown eyes with the perfect eyeliner; she told us so much with those eyes. Lilly loved to chase wildlife and often won, she loved rolling in the mulberries and dirt ( especially after a bath ). She loved food and would steal it when you weren’t paying attention and then pretend she didn’t do anything to try and get her fur brother in trouble. Lilly loved to lick you she knew when you were sad or hurting she would lick your tears away wanting to let you know she cared and she would lick you when she knew she did something she shouldn’t have as to say I’m sorry, do you forgive me? She loved her yard and laying in the sun on quiet mornings before the crazy fur siblings woke up, she got to laying in her yard one last time in the sun the day she passed away. Lilly and her daddy had a very special bond, when it was time for Lilly to cross the Rainbow Bridge she wanted to be in her daddy’s arms and on his lap. She did give me one last lick to let me know she loved me too...Lilly will be missed dearly and she will never be forgotten .
Lilly is survived by her parents,  Gary & Jamie Peel; human siblings, Kaz Floyd & Shane Floyd Jr.; kitty siblings,  Katie , Milo , Grace , Betty , Abby , Zoey , Henry , Hope; and dog siblings, Tucker Joe & Ellie Mae.

Tyson Butcher - June 17, 2012 - September 10, 2021

Departed: 09/10/2021 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: Tyson Butcher, age 9, of Kokomo, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on September 10, 2021 with his loving momma by his side.  He was born in June of 2012. Stephanie was offered a puppy from her uncle not long after just moving in with her boyfriend (now husband, DJ).  They discussed it and decided together that it just wasn’t the right time to add a puppy to the mix so…Stephanie called her uncle and said “Yes, I’ll take him!”
Tyson was a typical Labrador; laid back and easy going yet full of spunk and high energy!  He was a momma’s boy, through and through.  He was her protector, her shadow, and her snuggle buddy all in one.  In true momma boy fashion, he followed her everywhere she went.  One of his favorite spots was on top of the toilet seat next to the vanity so he could watch her get ready in the morning before work.
Tyson loved his snacks, his favorites being popcorn and watermelon!  He would get so excited every time he would hear the popcorn popping in the microwave or he saw his momma cut up a watermelon.  He enjoyed running around the backyard and playing fetch with a tennis ball.  His family will always hold a special place in their hearts for him.
Tyson is survived by his mom and dad, Stephanie & DJ Butcher; little brothers, Quincy & Bo; and his big furry sister, Sadie. "Dogs lives are too short. Their only fault, really." ~Agnes Sligh Turnbill

Obituary Preview: ChinChin Robinson, age 18, of Kokomo, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on September 1, 2021, with his wonderful mom by his side.  He was born in November of 2002. What a true testament to the love and care he received to live such a long life!  ChinChin came into his family’s life when a neighbor, Mr. Marcus, offered him to his mom, LaNeisha.
ChinChin was the very best cat!  He was so smart and full of compassion.  He always knew when someone needed a friend and would cuddle up next to them.  ChinChin followed his mom around everywhere she went, he was her 3rd son!  He loved to sleep next to his mom in front of the space heater. He was the boss of the house, and in true fashion for a cat, he could be very demanding.   He often thought his opinion mattered most and would talk over his mom.  His favorite treats were bacon and chicken, which he often stole from his mom! His friend Yolanda loved to play with him and one time she put in up in a sheet and spun him around until he got dizzy, which he loved.  He always enjoyed playing with his toys and his cat cousin kitty, Justin.  He also loved catnip!
He was such a special boy to all that knew him, he will be truly missed.  His mom will miss that he won’t be here to steal her bacon and chicken, talk over her, beg for snacks, sneak in the garbage, bite the kids, and be taunted by cousin Nicolle, Summer, and Brice. ChinChin will always be near and dear to their hearts.
ChinChin is survived by his mom, LaNeisha; brothers, DeMonte and DeSharee; grandmother, Maxine; and a host of friends that knew and loved ChinChin.
His family would like to give a special thanks to Joseph for his help and kindness in laying ChinChin to rest. “Rest in Heaven ChinChin.  Mommy will always love you. XOXOXOXOX.” ~LaNeisha Robinson "What greater gift than the love of a cat.” ~Charles Dickens
Feel free to leave a condolence or special memory of ChinChin for his family on his tribute wall.

Jake Alley - June 15, 2008 - June 23, 2021

Departed: 06/23/2021 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: A beautiful tribute written by: John & Bonnie Alley
Our Jake Alley, age 13, crossed over the rainbow bridge on the morning of Wednesday, June 23, 2021.
Jake was in his “happy place” whenever he was in our yard chasing all the squirrels, birds and rabbits off.
He also loved spending time on the couch with all of his stuffed animals.
He enjoyed going on car rides and hanging out the window in the breeze. Anytime he smelled popcorn or the aroma of pizza he was so excited and of course would always get a bite. He also very much loved getting an ice cream cone too! Our hearts are broken over losing our best buddy ever….But, we do find comfort in knowing that he is in a better place and no longer suffering. We loved him so very much! RIP Jake
*A dog is such a very small word for something that takes up so much room in your heart.

Daisy May Morrisett - May 01, 2005 - May 13, 2021

Departed: 05/13/2021 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: Daisy May Morrisett, age 16, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday, May 13, 2021. Daisy May was the runt of the litter but had a huge personality!  She was just barely weaned when she was chosen by her family.  They wanted a kitten to keep Precious company but she ended up being so much more!
Daisy May was a happy kitty, although she didn't enjoy being bothered, she was never too far away.  She preferred the back of the couch to a cat bed and never played with cat toys, but who needs them when you have furry siblings to play with!  One of her favorite past times was being her ornery self and aggravating the dog.  She would chase a laser light for hours on end and always enjoyed her favorite treat, Temptations.
Daisy May loved her family and they miss her everyday.
She is survived by her parents, Butch & Wanda Morrisett and her furry sibling Sam.
Please feel free to leave a condolence or share a memory you have with Daisy May on her tribute wall. "If a dog jumps into your lap, it is because he is fond of you; but if a cat does the same thing, it is because your lap is warmer." - Alfred North Whitehead

Theodore Augustus Cloum - June 01, 2008 - May 09, 2021

Departed: 05/09/2021 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: Theodore Augustus, aka “Ted” or “Teddy” crossed over the rainbow bridge on Sunday, May 9, 2021. Born June 2008, Ted was rescued from the Kokomo Humane Society in December 2017. Though shy in the beginning, Teddy quickly warmed up to his new family and furry companion, Sienna. The family’s hope was that Teddy, through friendship and his zest for all things squeaky, would help Sienna through her grief as she was still mourning the loss of her lifelong partner months earlier. Though he was always a bit intimidated by her, they did become fast friends. When Butters the kitten joined the family, Ted was over the moon that he had a little fur brother.
Teddy’s favorite activity was playing fetch with his squeaky toy, a red, vinyl, Christmas lightbulb. HIs second favorite activity was following his tiny human, Lucas, around and sharing his snacks. Ted was never one to turn down an offer of food, but his favorite treat was, by far, carrots. He loved his ‘cicles as they were so lovingly referred to, because they would often freeze like icicles (until his humans got a new fridge). He recognized the sound of a bag of carrots from rooms away.
Teddy’s family will forever remember the way he hogged the bed, and jumped up and down to scrunch the sheets while making a noise that can only be described as “starting his engine.” Or, the ride home the day he rescued them, with the windows all the way down, in the middle of December, because he smelled so pungent. They will never forget the kisses he gave, only when he felt especially giving, and the incessant squeaking of his lightbulb when he was ready to play. Teddy had a special way of getting what he wanted. If his big brown eyes didn’t do it, he would show his “snaggle” and wag that fluffy tail. He will be missed by all who had the chance to know him.
Teddy is survived by his humans Troy and Michelle (parents), Owen (brother) and Grace (sister). He also leaves behind his favorite tiny human, Lucas, Butters (fur brother of the feline kind) , and Sienna (fur friend).

Izzy Clark - October 15, 2008 - April 17, 2021

Departed: 04/17/2021 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: Izzy Clark
Izzy was adopted by the Clark family in December of 2008 after being found near Purdue’s hog barn in Lafayette by Amber, who smuggled her into her upstairs dorm room in her backpack and proceeded with the task of persuading her parents they needed to keep this puppy.  Izzy’s start in life was rough as she was born without eyes, deaf, and dumped like trash; however, one man’s trash is truly another’s treasure as she was adored by the Clark family for over 12 years.
In the beginning Izzy was the best bad dog the Clark family has ever had.  Destroying a couch along with too many other belongings to list including Lisa’s favorite Bible and Andrea’s homework.  Izzy loved food and was stingy with hers – her sense of smell and taste seemed to work over time to compensate for her lack of sight and hearing.  She would often flip her food bowl and stomp to indicate it was time for her meals.  This love of food unfortunately resulted in an emergency doctor’s visit for Andy as he tried to teach her patience with a piece of pizza, many incidences of trash eating and the subsequent broom between the dog and human to remedy the situation, and ultimately her unfair classification as obese by her veterinarian to the dispute of her humans who insisted she was just “big boned and fluffy”.  The veterinarian staff knew her well as she suffered from a seizure disorder, allergies and arthritis later in life.  She was a frequent flyer at the vet clinic and loved car rides, especially when Elizabeth took her as she would sneak her a pup cup and trip to the pet store.  Always a happy dog, Izzy enjoyed the sunshine coming through the windows, laying on the back porch, and being near her family.  She didn’t have a mean bone in her body and wanted everyone that visited to scratch her rear above her tail.
Izzy was loved by everyone that met her and all were amazed at her intelligence.  Although she was blind and deaf she remembered people by their scent, obviously recognizing and greeting Ashley and Amber when home for visits and could even tell when Andy got home from work from the smell of the diesel exhaust.  She was able to navigate her home and back yard with ease, tapping her front paw to feel rubber mats placed strategically at the top of steps as her que, and had learned to sit and lay down by touch commands.  Izzy trusted and depended on her family entirely due to her disabilities but we needed her more than she needed us.  She has been at our side through many difficult years, her presence and the affection she had for us being a comfort.  She was dearly loved and is deeply missed.
We would especially like to thank Dr. Corey Swart and the staff at Jefferson Road Animal Hospital for their exceptional, compassionate care through the years. James says “Every good and perfect gift is from above” and we thank God for the gift of Izzy.  Izzy was a good gift, entrusted to our care, and we are thankful to have had the privilege to care for her.  She taught us many things, was our faithful companion, and we will cherish the memories and the time God gifted us with her.  When asked, “Do dogs go to Heaven?” Evangelist Billy Graham answered, “God will prepare everything for our perfect happiness in Heaven, and if it takes my dog being there, I believe he’ll be there.”  We will see you again, sweet girl!

Lexi Lou Nelson - July 31, 2006 - April 13, 2021

Departed: 04/13/2021 (Tipton)
Obituary Preview: Lexi Lou Nelson, age 14, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.  She was born on July 31, 2006.
Lexi was a loveable dog and loved attention from everyone until she was older and then she grew grouchy, especially to her fur brother Benny.  Benny feared Lexi even though he was so much bigger than her.  She would let him know that she was boss. Lexi’s favorite activity was sitting on her mom's lap or being by her mom's side.   If she was sitting with her mom, you probably should just stay away from the chair or else she would let you know she didn't want you close to her and her mom!
Lexi loved playing ball when she was younger, and she loved her blue stuffed monkey.  Lexi loved going camping with her family and taking walks at the campground.  She loved taking car rides and sniffing around in the back yard.
Lexi always thought she was a tough dog.  She would run after other dogs and then when she got close to them, she would cower down and then just sniff them.
Lexi meant the world to her family and especially to her mom.  Her mom would always tell everyone that Lexi was her favorite child.  She will be missed so much by her family.
Lexi is survived by her mom Kristina, dad Nate, brothers Alex and Kolton, sister Ella, and her fur brother Benny.
Lexi was welcomed into Heaven at the Rainbow Bridge by her older sister Molly.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to inform friends, family, and community members of a person's passing, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences. They also provide a sense of closure and help to celebrate the life of the deceased.

Who typically writes an obituary?

In most cases, the obituary is written by a family member or close friend of the deceased. However, it can also be written by a funeral home or a professional obituary writer.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. It may also include information about funeral or memorial services, burial arrangements, and any charitable donations in their memory.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication and the individual's life story. Typically, it ranges from a few sentences to several paragraphs.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can be a nice way to personalize the tribute and make it more meaningful.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper or online publication?

You can usually submit an obituary through the publication's website or by contacting their obituary department directly. Be sure to follow their guidelines and deadlines for submission.

How much does it cost to publish an obituary?

The cost of publishing an obituary varies depending on the publication and the length of the notice. Some newspapers and online platforms offer free or low-cost options, while others may charge a fee based on the number of words or lines.

Can I write my own obituary?

Yes, some people choose to write their own obituary in advance as a way to have control over how they are remembered. This can be a unique opportunity for self-reflection and storytelling.

What is the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

A death notice is typically a brief announcement of a person's passing, while an obituary provides more detailed information about their life and legacy.

How soon after a person's passing should an obituary be published?

The timing of publishing an obituary varies depending on cultural and personal preferences. In general, it's best to publish the obituary within a few days of the person's passing to ensure that friends and family are informed in a timely manner.

Can I include humor or anecdotes in an obituary?

Absolutely! An obituary is a celebration of the person's life, so feel free to include stories, quotes, or humorous moments that capture their personality and spirit.

What if I'm not comfortable writing an obituary myself?

If you're struggling to write an obituary, consider enlisting the help of a friend or family member who knew the deceased well. You can also hire a professional writer or seek guidance from a funeral home or bereavement counselor.

Can I publish an obituary online only?

Yes, many online platforms allow you to publish an obituary without printing it in a physical newspaper. This can be a cost-effective option and allows for wider reach and sharing capabilities.

How long will an online obituary remain available?

The duration of online availability varies depending on the platform. Some websites may keep the obituary online indefinitely, while others may remove it after a certain period of time.

Can I make corrections or updates to an already-published obituary?

In most cases, yes. Contact the publication or online platform where the obituary was published to request corrections or updates. Be prepared to provide documentation supporting the changes.

What if I want to keep the funeral or memorial service private?

You can still publish an obituary without including details about the funeral or memorial service. Simply omit this information or indicate that services will be private.

Can I include charitable donation information in an obituary?

Yes! Many families choose to include information about charitable donations in lieu of flowers as a way to honor their loved one's legacy.

How do I handle sensitive or complicated family dynamics when writing an obituary?

This can be a challenging situation. Consider seeking guidance from a trusted friend, family member, or bereavement counselor to help navigate these complexities with sensitivity and respect.

What if I need help finding information for an obituary?

You can gather information from various sources such as photo albums, scrapbooks, letters, diaries, and conversations with family members and friends. You can also consult with local historians or genealogists for assistance.

Can I use social media to share an obituary?

Absolutely! Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter can be effective ways to share news of a loved one's passing and reach a wider audience.

How do I ensure that an online obituary remains respectful and safe from unwanted comments?

Moderate comments carefully and consider setting up restrictions on who can leave comments. You can also report any inappropriate behavior to the platform administrators.

What if I want to create a memorial website or online tribute instead of publishing an obituary?

This is a wonderful idea! Online memorials can provide a lasting tribute to your loved one and allow friends and family to share memories and condolences in one place.
