Earl M. Elliott, 91, of Tilton Hill Road, died February 29th in Lake City FL. following a long illness. He was born in Groveton, NH the son of Ora and Alice (McHarg) Elliott. He was a Navy Veteran during WW II serving as a Coxswain on the attack transport USS Hamblen. He was a self-employed dairy farmer in Pittsfield for most of his adult life. He was employed by the worlds largest artificial insemination company, ABS Global Inc. for 28 years. He was the widower of Marion “Molly” (Harper) Elliott who died in 1996. He is survived by four sons, Richard Elliott and wife Rhoda of Belgrade, ME; Charles Elliott and wife Anita of Barnstead, NH; James Elliott and wife Joan of Mcaplin, FL; and Dana Elliott and wife Lorie of Pittsfield. 14 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held Saturday, April 16th at 11:00 AM in the First Congregational Church of Pittsfield followed by a reception in the Church vestry. The Rev. David Stasiak, Pastor will officiate. An urn burial will be at the Floral Park Cemetery in the family lot at the family’s convenience. In Lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The American Cancer Society.

Robert William Thrall, 80, of Siel Road, died peacefully,Dec.21st at the Pleasant view Nursing Home, Concord following a long illness. He was born October 20, 1935 in Mt. Kisco, NY, the son of William L and M. Dorothy (Roxby) Thrall. He was a graduate of White Plains High School in 1954. He also graduated from St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY in 1958. He married his wife Ruth (Olson) in 1957.
He worked in the insurance industry at Glen Falls Ins. Co. and National Fire/Casualty Co. During his insurance career as a insurance agent he lived in Glen Falls NY; Wheaton, IL; Grand Rapids MI; and Richfield,CT. In 1963 he and his father opened the W.L.Thrall and Son Hardware and Garden Center in Old Lyme, CT. He was later a commercial airline pilot for Pilgrim Airlines in Groton, CT. He was a “ham radio” operator, and a computer enthusiast. He enjoyed RV travel, boating, golfing, flying, the NE Patriots and especially his beloved home on Treasure Island, Lake Winnipesaukee.
He is survived by his wife Ruth of Pittsfield. Three Daughters, Carolyn T. Larson and husband Eric of Concord, Joanne E. Shurbert and husband William of Alton Bay and Sandra T. Found and husband Andrew of Pittsfield. Four grandchildren, Nathan Larson, Kate Larson and her wife Alex, Brita Larson Guirguis and husband Andrew and Anna Larson.
A Memorial Service followed by a reception will be scheduled in the spring at the Waters Funeral Home 50 So. Main St. Concord. An urn burial will follow in the Floral Park Cemetery, Pittsfield. The Waters Funeral Home-Perkins & Pollard Memorial Home is assisting with arrangements.

Leonard D Chagnon, of Commercial St. died September 29th at the Concord Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Pittsfield, the son of Dennis and Edna (Genest) Chagnon. He lived in Pittsfield for over 76 years and attended Pittsfield High School. Following high school he joined and served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked in the Shoe Industry for many years. He worked as an automobile salesman for many years and had worked for Huckins Chevrolet in Pittsfield and retired from the Carlson Chrysler dealership in Concord. He was a Captain in the Pittsfield Police Department and also was a boat & safety officer for the NH Department of Safety.. He was the widow of Theresa (Riel) Chagnon who died in 2003 and members of his family include two sons, Steven Chagnon of Loudon and Matthew Chagnon of Penacook. Eight Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. A sister, Germaine Glidden of Alton. He was predeceased by a son Michael D Chagnon in 2006. He also was predeceased by two brothers, Bernard and Lawrence Chagnon.

Robert A Brown, 83, of Alton Woods Dr. died Sept24th at the Concord Hospital following a long illness. He was born in Gilmanton, the son of Richard and Pearl (Twombly) Brown. He was a graduate of Laconia High School in 1950. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict until 1955 and was discharged as a S/Sgt. He worked as a service manager at Grappone Industrial Division. He was a member of the Operating Engineering Local #98. Following retirement he was a letter carrier for the Pittsfield Post Office retiring in 1996. He raised show horses and mules and rode in many speed events at horse shows throughout the area. He and his wife also enjoyed his retirement traveling in their RV. He is survived by his wife Dawn Brown of Concord. His children Michelle Peek and husband Frank of Marengo, IN. Holly Catania of Weston, Fl.; Phyllis Farial of Fl. A stepson Scott DeCota of Chichester. 3 stepdaughters Karen Cole of Meredith, Sharon Dotson of Rochester, Debra Larson of Alaska and another step son Alfred Sanborn of GA. Several Grandchildren and Great Grandxhldren.
There are no visiting hours. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday Oct. 1st at 11:00 AM in the First Congregational Church of Pittsfield, followed bya collation in the Church Vestry. The Rev. David Stasiak, Pastor, will officiate. An urn interment will follow in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen. In leiu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Nelda Arlene (Elkins) Riel, 92 a long time Pittsfield resident, died September 3rd at the Merrimack County Home following a long illness. Nelda was a quiet and gentle giver of care, who asked for very little and always gave so much. She was born in Pittsfield, NH the daughter of Etta Elkins. She graduated from Pittsfield High School and nursing school at Faulkner Hospital in Boston. Following WW II she married Armand Riel in Pittsfield. She worked for many years for Dr. John Argue and Dr. Harold Conrad at the Pittsfield Medical Center. She retired in 1989 and she and Armand did some traveling including a trip to France. Following Armand’s death in 1998, she was an active participant at the Pittsfield Senior Center. When she retired, she was acknowledged by the Doctors, Staff and most residents of the area for the wonderful work she did. Her nickname was “The White Tornado”. When not working, she raised six children and many nieces, nephews and friends who were in and out of the house. After a life time of caring for others, she lived the last several years in peace being cared for by others. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care provided by the staff at both the Birches from 2007 – 2012 and those at the Merrimack County Home until her passing. She leaves six children, Armand Riel of Pittsfield, Nelda Monique Riel of Florida, Angelique Mosher and husband Steven of Concord, Greg Riel of Loudon, Janique Fraser of Pennsylvania and Shelly Riel of Milford. Ten Grandchildren: Heather Madore, Christopher Daley, Mark Rogers, James Mosher, Benjamin Mosher, Jan Riel, Jennifer Tierney, Erin Fraser, Justine Chiavacchi, and Craig Fraser. 12 Great Grandchildren and one Sister Charlene Morin of Loudon. She was predeceased by a brother,Walter Bishop, who was lost at sea on the USS Scorpian in 1968 and her aunt, who raised her, Olive Paige.
There are no visiting hours. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 So. Main St. Concord at 10:00 AM on Wednesday September 9th. Urn Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Pittsfield at the family’s convenience.

Members of his family include his wife of 38 years, Maryellen “Minni” Plante of Pittsfield. A son Christopher Plante and wife Traci of Bedford. Three daughters, Susan Nelson of Garland UT.; Stephanie Tuttle and husband Norman OF Pittsfield and Catherine Tuttle and husband Dana of Barnstead. Seven Grandchildren, Nicholas, Maxwell, Logan , Brady, Nathan, Michael and Angela. A Brother, Kenneth Plante and wife Pam of Barnstead. Three Sisters, Claire Magoon and husband Bliss of Parsonsfield, ME; Teddy Minery of Hillsboro and Janice Riel of Pittsfield. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. Joan S. Sawyer, 78, of North Barnstead Road, died August 8th at her home following a long illness. She was born in Concord, the daughter of Henry and Hattie (Curtis) Danis on Sept. 27th 1936. She has been a Barnstead resident all her life. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, class of 1955. She was the Co-Owner of Danis’s Market and was the owner of Danis’ Co-Op Laundry both in Pittsfield. She is survived by her children, Brenda Sawyer of Sanford, ME.: Patricia Giddis of Ctr. Barnstead: Kenneth “Skip” Sawyer of Pittsfield; Tom Sawyer of Ctr. Barnstead and wife Penny; Judith Sawyer of Concord; and Corey Sawyer of Ctr. Barnstead. 5 Grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren. Also a brother, Joe Danis of Loudon and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Obituary Preview: Terry P. Robinson, 66, of Colby Road, passed away July 16th in Hospice at the Concord Hospital following a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Pittsfield, he attended the Pittsfield Schools, graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1966. Terry attended Plymouth State College before joining the U.S. Army and after his Vietnam tour of duty attended Manpower Training Center learning his trade in the printing industry. He was proud to be a small business owner for over 40 years, operating Granite Image (formerly Pittsfield Printing) in Epsom with his wife and business partner Denise. Terry was a Past President of The Lakes Region Corvette Club. He served Pittsfield as a member of the Pittsfield Zoning Board, on the Board of Trustee’s of Trust Funds, and was a Past President of the Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce. He also was a Charter Member of the Alliance for Business Growth (BNI) ABG Chapter, Concord, NH. He and his wife were also past members of the Pittsfield Old Home Day Committee and the Pittsfield Historical Society. He also participated in “Pedaling for Payson,” a charitable bicycle ride sponsored by the Concord Hospital Trust. Supporting this cause was his personal way of “giving back.”
Terry is survived by his devoted wife Denise (Wood) Robinson of Epsom, children Christopher and wife Jennifer Johnson of Concord, Amy and husband Fred Thompson, of Claremont. He was a proud papa to six grandchildren Carrigan and Gavin of Concord; and Dawson, Makenna, Chloe and Ryan of Claremont.
He leaves behind his mother Shirley (Smith) Bleckmann of Pittsfield; two sisters, Peggy Lee Reardon and husband David of Gloucester, MA and Jodi Alexander of Epsom; brother Douglas and partner Victor Perea of San Diego, CA; brother in law Geoffrey and wife Eleanor Wood of Saratoga Springs, NY; two nieces, Emily and Lindsey, three nephews, Kyle, Caleb and Eli, several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his adopted father William Robinson and his biological father Albert Riel.

Eldon “Bud” Heath, 95, of Heath Lane, died July 2nd at the Concord Hospice House. He was born July 23rd, 1919, eldest son of the late Ralph and Barbara (Carter) Heath in Putney, VT. His Dear Wife and partner of 69 years, Elizabeth “Belle” Heath predeceased him in 2013. He spent most of his childhood in Swansey, NH, graduating from Keene High School in 1938. He had fond memories of visiting his grandfather Edward Carter at Kaolin Farms (now the Budweiser Factory) in Merrimack, NH. He served his country during WWII in the US Army as a military guard at a POW Camp in Louisiana. He returned home after the war to his home in Pittsfield to be with Belle and infant son Roger. A Daughter Barbara completed the family. He retired as Superintendent of Bridge Maintenance for the State of New Hampshire. He was the oldest Past Master of the Corinthian Masonic Lodge in Pittsfield. In his later years he took great joy in raising large tomato plants to be sold to friends in the Concord Medical Community. He had a great love for gardening, he made sure each home he built had a root celler.
He is survived by his son Roger Heath and wife Janet of Heath Lane, Barnstead, a daughter Barbara Berry and husband Dan of Barnstead. Four Grandchildren Dan Berry and wife Lori, Jodi Glines and husband Jay, Carter Heath and wife Tricia, and Nathan Heath and wife Kristy. His Great Grandchildren Jordan Berry, Kylie Berry, Kelsea Bonin, Keaton Heath, Megan Heath, Emily Heath, Molly Heath, Meg Glines, Sarah Glines, Kate Glines, Aaron Glines, Eli Glines, and Simon Glines.
There are no visiting Hours. A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, July 7th,A at 10:00 AM in the Floral Park Cemetery, Pittsfield.

Ronald 'Ron' Briggs - July 21, 1937 - May 27, 2015

Obituary Preview: Ronald (Ron) Briggs, 77, of Epsom passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 after losing his battle with cancer. He was born on July 21, 1937, in Manchester, NH to Albert Briggs and Eleanor (Lear) Briggs. He was a graduate of Manchester West Side High School, class of 1955. Ron married the love of his life Barbara (Seldon) Briggs on July 18, 1959. After graduating high school, Ron moved to Epsom where he was a lifelong resident. He served as Chief of Police in Epsom from 1965 to 1970. Ron then served as a Patrolman until 1978. In 1966, Ron became a Freemason and a member of the Corinthian Lodge #82. He worked for Huckins Oil Company for 35 years where he was Plant Manager. Ron spent the best years of his life with his wife camping in their Winnebago, where he made lifelong friends. Ron and his wife were members of the Winnebago International Travelers, Granite State Winnies, Gateway Travelers, and the White Mountain Winnies. He had many hobbies which included woodworking, golfing, playing the piano, and collecting trains. Ron will be remembered for being a dedicated and loving, husband, dad, and pup. He was a kind, genuine man who loved everyone and cared deeply for all animals. Ron is predeceased by his wife, Barbara and nephew, Michael. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Sandra Kelley and her husband Jefferson of Epsom, his granddaughter Amanda Duquette and her husband Christopher of Canterbury, a brother Leland Briggs and his wife Maryann of Epsom, nieces and a nephew. Obituary Preview: Arnold 'Pete' Cecil Stock (87) Arnold 'Pete' Stock (87) of Laconia passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Northwood Nursing Home. Pete was born November 6, 1927 in Manchester, NH and was the son of the late Arthur and Martha (Henry) Stock. Pete was raised and educated in Barnstead and part of the 1945 Pittsfield, NH graduating class. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946 and served proudly in World War II and Korea where he was decorated several times. After, he married 'the best woman that ever lived', Bea in 1951 and lived in Pittsfield before moving to Laconia. He sold insurance for Metropolitan Life for almost 50 years. He was a long time member of the Corinthian Lodge #82 F&AM in Pittsfield, the Bektash Shrine, and the Earl B. Clark Post #42 of the American Legion. Pete enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid hunter, he collected coins, and loved going to bean suppers. He volunteered at the Tilton Soldiers Home, playing cribbage with the 'old guys'. He spent a lot of time collecting aluminum tabs to donate to the Shriners hospital. Being very patriotic, one of the ways he showed his devotion to our country was how he honored and promoted the American Flag, if he saw a tattered flag he would stop and offer a replacement. How fitting he pass on Memorial day; no doubt he was marching in a parade from above. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Pete was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beatrice (Chagnon) Stock in 1995; and his siblings, Arthur, Richard, Robert, and Hamilton Stock. He is survived by his loving children, Gary S. Stock and his wife, Jane of Chichester, NH, Gail S. (Proulx) Doyle and her husband Gregory of Methuen, MA, grandson Nicholas K. Proulx of Laconia, NH and granddaughters Angelle (Proulx) Young of Plumas Lake, CA. and Laura (Stock) McPhail of Hopkington, NH. He is also survived by his brother Norman Stock and his wife Shirley of Center Barnstead NH, sisters Barbara Jane and her husband Bill Woodward of Epping NH and Carol Tiede of Center Barnstead NH as well as many nieces and nephews. Born Lois Mae Nelson in Quincy, MA to Carl G. andElizabethM. Nelson,Lois grew up in East Braintree, MA, attending Braintree High School and graduating from Thayer Academy in 1948. In 1952,she graduated from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst with a B.S. in Home Economics, and an Education minor.Having been active in 4-H in her youth, she started her career as an Assistant 4-H Club Agent for the Cooperative Extension Services in Worcester, MA. In 1954, Lois married her high school sweetheart, Calvin M. Farnsworth, with whom she shared a great zest for life, and together they raised four grateful and loving daughters. After the last toddler went off to school, she taught and then served as Director at the Acton Cooperative School, where her daughters had attended preschool. Always an enthusiastic volunteer for every activity in which her girls were involved, including 4-H Club, Girl Scouts of America, and U.S. Pony Clubs, Lois was considered by many to be a creative mastermind. When Cal’s career took them to Davidsonville, MD, Lois enjoyed working in the catalog department at Sears and took on many volunteer activities. In 1979, Cal and Lois purchased Clark’s Grain Store in Chichester, NH, where she was activein the day-to-day business. A member of the Pittsfield Women of Rotary, Lois was enthusiastically involved in the design and construction of numerous annual parade floats and thought of its membership as an extension of her family. Lois treasured her family and her friends, and that love was returned to her. The picture of endless energy, determination, empathy and fun, she will be missed every single day. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Calvin M. Farnsworth, and her cherished sister, Carol E. (Nelson) MacDonald. She is survived by her daughters Susan Farnsworth of Fort Lauderdale FL, Nancy Farnsworth Yeaton and husband Jeremy of Pittsfield, Judy Farnsworth Goughand husband Tom of Annapolis MD and Jane Farnsworth Collins and husband John of Saginaw MI, grandchildren Madeline, Jeffrey and Caroline Collins, and brother Walter E. She was well known for her cooking skills and fed many groups over her years of volunteer service. She was voted as “Pittsfield’s Citizen of the Year” in 2010. She was the widow of Don N. Wheeler, who died in 2003 and members of her family include 3 sons, Gordon A. Wheeler of Epsom, Gary K. Wheeler of Gilmanton and Larry D. Wheeler of Barnstead. Four Daughters, Lillian E. She was born in Pittsfield, the daughter of Victor E and Harriet (Sweet) Trace. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School class of 1946 and attended Wheelock College in Boston. She was active in the community and was a Girl Scout leader. She served as a “room mother” for all of her children in elementary school. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Pittsfield and active in all areas. She taught Sunday School and was the Music Director and Organist at the Church for 45 years. She was a charter member of the Dorcas Guild, was a past president, and served as secretary for many years. She was a member and the organist for the Pleiades Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She was an avid doll collector, her favorites being Black and Sasha Dolls. She was a member of the Granite State Doll Club and the Sasha Doll Collectors Club. She loved classical music and played the cello, flute, and saxophone as well as organ and piano. She had been a correspondent for the Manchester Union Leader, The Concord Monitor, and The Suncook Valley Sun. She served Pittsfield as the “Overseer of the Poor”, as it was called in the 1950’s. She was a true matriarch of her entire family and took great pleasure in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also cared for many other children who affectionately called her “Grammy”. She was the widow of Leonard S. Riel who died in 2007 after 60 years of marriage. She was predeceased by a sister, Jean Mason. She is survived by three sons and one daughter: Peter A. Riel and wife Candy of Barnstead; Kevin J. Riel and wife Joni of Barnstead; Steven E. Riel and wife Jie-Zhao of Laconia; Vici Riel-Smith and former son-in-law Blair Smith of Beverly, Ma. Eleven grandchildren: Nathan Riel and wife Lindsay; Aaron Riel and wife Michelle; Colter and Wyatt Lodestein-Riel and their mother Andrea Lodestein; Jasmine Cooley and husband Sam, Kaili Riel, Sakima Riel and Christy Taylor, Chenoa Riel, Dyani Riel and their mother Debbie Chagnon; Dakota Smith, and Walker Smith. One great-grandson: Trenton Spencer; and two great-granddaughters, Abigail and Lilah Riel. Nieces and nephew: Debbie, Diana and Dana Mason. There are no visiting hours. She was the widow of Stephen Lombard Sr. who died in 1971 ,and later of Clarence Tirrell who died in 2002. She had a companion, Edward Wladkowski, who she traveled extensively with while belonging to the Family Motor Coach Association, who died in 2013. Members of her family include three sons, Stephen Lombard Jr. of Northwood, Thomas Lombard of Graceville, FL. and James Lombard, with whom she made her home, of Epsom. A daughter Jeannette” Gina” Canney of Farmington. Three step daughters, Linda Tirrell of Londonderry, Sharon Wayman of Loudon and Deb Brazemore of Concord and a stepson, Clarence Tirrell Jr. of Pittsfield. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held, January 17th at 11:00 AM in the New Rye Congregational Church, Epsom. The Rev.
