Ricardo Fuentes Limon - May 16, 1964 - September 04, 2022

Departed: 09/04/2022 (Santa Paula)
Obituary Preview: On the night of September 4, 2022, Rick Limon passed away at the age of 58. Rick is survived by his daughter Veronica Limon, family, and all who love him dearly. Rick could light up any room with his laughter and witty anecdotes. He always welcomed everyone into his home. On most weekends his garage would be buzzing with the sound of joyous conversation backdropped with music as he tinkered away on one of his many creative projects. Before her passing, his beloved dog Kayly would be nestled in his arms as he planned future camping trips and barbecues with his guests.
Rick was an avid collector of objects of interest, had a display case of miniatures, and kept a treasure trove of stories with friends and loved ones. His keen memory and detail rich retellings made everyone feel valued. His daughter Vero blissfully recalled, “If you got a nickname from him, you know you made it in life.” Rick sought to enjoy quality time with those he loved as often as possible. No one who met Rick could forget his infectious laughter.
A devoted father and son, Rick would ensure to spend time with his mother, Elvira, often spoiling her with her favorite meal, or taking her to leave flowers at her late husband Octavio Senior’s grave. He loved nothing more than spending time with his best friend/daughter Vero. The two could be seen cruising around town hitting up their favorite restaurants, genuinely enjoying each other's company.
Those who have had the pleasure of knowing Rick all feel the absence he left, let us all come together to celebrate his life. ***Please wear your Dodger’s Gear to the Mass & Celebration of Life as Rick would love to see everyone repping his favorite team.***

Richard Tushla - January 24, 1941 - July 24, 2021

Departed: 07/24/2021 (Santa Paula)
Obituary Preview: Richard James Tushla passed on to the next, final, heavenly destination on July 24, 2021. Dick was born on January 24, 1941 in Auburn, Nebraska to Ruth and Francis Tushla M.D. He grew up in Southeast Nebraska excelling on and off the field as a star athlete and student. He attended the University of Notre Dame where he made life-long friends with Thomas Vecchione and David Stegman. He played multiple sports in college and is the only Notre Dame baseball player in history with a career 1.000 batting average and an earned run average of 1.8.
On August 6, 1966, he married Constance Rose Bernard and shortly thereafter graduated with a Medical Degree from the University of Nebraska. Following an Internship in San Jose, Residency in Ventura and 3 years of service in Europe with the U.S. Army, Connie and Dick planted roots in Santa Paula in 1973. Dick followed in his father’s footsteps and became a small-town family physician joining up with the likes of such characters as Al Peterson, David Stegman, Bill Ekman, Gus Iwasiuk and Larry Schrock among many others. The practice of medicine evolved over the years but Doc’s unwavering focus on the patient never did.
He eventually opened up his own private practice (Westside Family Practice) with Dr. Stegman and teamed up with his nephew, Dr. Mike Tushla, several years later. He was the consummate “patient’s doctor” and he relished the opportunity to help another person in need. Like his good pal, Larry Schrock, he lovingly and faithfully served many Ventura County communities in a variety of capacities: family doctor, emergency room physician, surgeon, gynecologist delivering babies, and also conducted physical exams for Santa Paula High School and St. Thomas Aquinas students.
He had his own radio show and served as the local medical expert on Ventura County’s only television news station. He was a deeply faithful Catholic and was passionate about family, history, travel, classical music, making people laugh and golf. If you played 18 holes with the self-proclaimed “Salieri of Saticoy”, you would be guaranteed to hear a myriad of jokes and witness his disdain of slow play.
Doc joins his parents, his older brother Terry and sister-in-law Patricia in heaven. His legacy lives on with his wife, Connie, daughter Jennifer, son Todd (Mieke), sister-in-law Teresa Tushla, sister Carol (John) Samson and brother Denny Tushla. He has two grandchildren (Julia Eva Rose Tushla and Justin Richard Tushla) and too many nieces / nephews and other relatives to count on 10 hands.
A heart-felt “Thank You” to Community Memorial Hospital and the ICU Nurses, notably Darlene Richards for her extraordinary compassionate care at the time of Dick’s passing. Thank you to the following physicians for their day-to-day support during the last few weeks of Dick’s earthly journey: Michael Tushla, Gus Iwasiuk, Evan Slater and Cary Alberstone.

Robert Lee Rodriguez - July 03, 1939 - June 28, 2021

Departed: 06/28/2021 (Santa Paula)
Obituary Preview: ROBERT L. RODRIGUEZ
Robert L. Rodriguez, (aka “Bobby,” “Stagger Lee”) completed his earthly journey and was called home in the early morning hours of June 28, 2021, with his sister and fur babies by his side. He was eighty-one years old.
Born Robert Lee Rodriguez on July 3, 1939, in Ventura, California, Bobby was the second son of John G. and Mary F. Rodriguez, joining his sister, Rachel, and brother John Jr. His younger sister and lifelong companion, Maiya, would join the family eighteen years later. He lived in Santa Paula all his life. As a child, Bobby attended Templo Getsemani Latin American Assembly of God Church (a church his father helped construct) where he was active in Royal Rangers and his family were members. He also participated in activities at the Santa Paula Police Boys’ Club.
Choosing to leave school early, Bobby immediately began working alongside his father in construction, where he remained for several years, before finding his true passion – truck driving. He drove many years for Castaneda Trucking in Santa Paula, as well as Lynch Brothers, and Tri-County Trucking, among others. He also worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 12. He was known for being a very diligent, dependable, and hard worker. He always strived to get the job done.
Bobby worked hard all week, but on the weekend, he would literally spend hours, upon hours, meticulously washing, waxing, detailing his car in preparation for a night of cruising the streets of Santa Paula and beyond. He loved his hometown and the surrounding areas. He had a lifelong interest in cars, motorcycles, trucks, anything with wheels. If it had an engine, he could probably fix it! He was very hands on and enjoyed giving advice and helping family and friends with auto repairs when needed.
In later years, Bobby enjoyed spending time with family, friends and his fur family, watching auto auctions and classic television shows, and looking after the neighborhood cats. He loved and had compassion for all animals, especially those that were hungry or hurt.
Bobby was the type of person who would call someone “friend” or his “buddy” whether he had known them for five minutes or fifty years. He was very kindhearted, generous, and giving of his time and resources, and was always willing to help.
Upon his arrival in heaven, Bobby was reunited with his parents, John G. and Mary F. Rodriguez, his sister, Rachel Rodriguez-Gore, brother John F. Rodriguez, and son Robert Lee Rodriguez, Jr. He is survived by his sister, Maiya Rodriguez of Santa Paula, granddaughters Rosalie (Chris) Hill, Monique (Obrian) Rangel, Bridget (Jesse) Cerda, and grandson Josh Gutierrez, all of Bakersfield; great-grandchildren Joseph Hernandez of Redding, Marcilena Jimenez of Las Vegas, Nevada, Christopher Hill, Tristan Hill, Aiden Hill, Josiah Ledesma, Mia Arreola, Noah Rangel, Elijah Rangel, Rayanna Cerda, Jesse Cerda, Jr., Ezra Cerda, Joshua Gutierrez, Jr., Ricky Gutierrez, Emily Gutierrez, Johnny Gutierrez, Daniel Gutierrez all of Bakersfield; great-great-grandchildren Joshua Gutierrez III, Avery Gutierrez of Bakersfield; numerous nieces, cousins, and fur babies who will miss him dearly.
On behalf of my brother, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude and endless appreciation to our cousins, Barbara and Jose Mendoza and Tyson Miller, for their invaluable, heaven-sent help, love, and support throughout my brother’s illness; Dr. Michael Tushla for his honesty, kindness, and compassionate medical care, and the good people of Buena Vista Home Health and Hospice Care for helping us through the last leg of my brother’s journey home.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Perez Family Funeral Home of Santa Paula. Please visit www.santapaulamortuary.com, to view a video tribute to Robert’s life and share your stories and remembrances.

Scott Wesley McKeen - May 04, 1954 - February 05, 2021

Departed: 02/05/2021 (Santa Paula)
Obituary Preview: Gone from our sight but never gone from our hearts
It is with great sadness that the family of Scott Wesley McKeen announce his sudden passing on the morning of February 5, 2021 at the age of 66. His presence in our lives is greatly missed.
Scott was born in Santa Paula, California on May 4, 1954 to Elbert and Aliene McKeen. He lived his entire life in Santa Paula-A native son.
Always ready with a smile and a good word, Scott had recently retired from almost 50 years laboring in the work force at Solo Cup Company, Shift Supervisor at GE/Borg Warner-Polycom and finally retiring from 17 years as Graffiti Abatement Specialist for the City of Santa Paula.
Scott never met a stranger and loved to share stories about his cherished family, tales from the “bench” (Lakers, Dodgers, USC, NASCAR, Tiger Woods, Kobe, etc.) and catching up on the local “buzz”. He was a faithful spectator and encouraging presence at all of his kids’ and grandkids’ sports and “showtime” events. Such a proud Dad, Step-Dad and PaPa! He had a kind and generous heart-always ready to go that extra mile.
He enjoyed coaching his sons in their early years of youth team sports and was soon able to share with them his love of his favorite sport. Basketball was his game and his relentless 3-point shot was his claim to fame. From the age of six until a knee injury in 2017 sidelined him from playing his beloved game, he tore up the courts. At one point he was playing in three leagues at a time, the “Fifty and Over” team being his favorite. He found a lot of enjoyment playing the game vicariously through several of his “Grands” who took up the sport, cheering and coaching from the bleachers at every game. His faithful presence at all the games will be greatly missed by all who knew his great love of family and sports.
Scott will be forever missed by his wife of 30 years, Diane. His children and Step-Children, Mychal (Joanna) McKeen; Grant (Sandra) McKeen; Jennifer (Alex Zavala) Alaniz; Elias (Karina) Alaniz. His Grandchildren, Ashlee Rodriguez; Destiny McKeen; Aubree Alaniz; Alyssa Barron; Nathan Alaniz; Nolan McKeen; Alani McKeen; Jasmine Reyes; Antonio Reyes. Great Granddaughter, Mariah Jade McKeen.
He is survived by his siblings, Steven (Karen) McKeen; Susan McKeen; Sidney (Janet) McKeen; Stanley (Suzy) McKeen as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert L. McKeen and Wilma Aliene Rose as well as his beloved Uncle, Cecil Ethridge.
A casual dress code graveside Celebration of Life will be held at “The Angel Columbarium” at Pierce Brothers Cemetery in Santa Paula at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 19, 2021. “A life that touches others goes on forever”
