Dust Bunny - Unknown - August 01, 2018

Departed: 08/01/2018 (Newport News)
Obituary Preview: Funny Bunny Dust Bunny, 4, of Gloucester, crossed the rainbow bridge on Monday, August 1, 2016, in the arms of her owner, after a very brief illness.
Dust Bunny was born in June of 2012 and adopted by Diane and Matthew Twist. When she was first brought home the first words out of Diane's father's mouth was, "That's not a rabbit, that's a cat!" She was given the name Dust Bunny because she looked like a dust bunny that one would find under a couch when cleaning. The lady her owners adopted her from told them that she was 99% sure that the rabbit they took home was a male, so for the first month they had her, they kept calling her a him.
Dust Bunny is preceded in death by her "sisters", Victoria Secret and Abby Someone. She is survived by her husband, Kingsford; upstairs neighbor Gnocchi the guinea pig; and furry friends, Guinness and Sambuca Black.

Badger Williams - Unknown - March 10, 2018

Departed: 03/10/2018 (Newport News)
Obituary Preview: Badger Williams, 14, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, passed away on March 10, 2018. He had the heart of a lion but, unfortunately, his small body could no longer keep up with his large heart and larger-than-life spirit.
Born on November 29, "Abby's Little Firecracker" (his AKC name) became best known to most as the Fun Police, due to his need to bark and reign in any merriment; Mr. Carson, due to his uncanny ability to keep us all on schedule; or simply Badger Boo or Badger Man. He was an avid fetch player, loved belly rubs and ear scratches, and would never turn down a biscuit. He was also fortunate enough to have traveled up and down the entire East Coast of the United States, making friends everywhere he went.
He is survived by his human parents Daniel and Marcella, his human brother Elijah, his cat sister Gabby LaLa, his dog sister Ripley, and his biological father Tucker. He was predeceased by his cat brothers Del Gato and Fred Astaire and his dog sister Maggie May. There are also many other human family members and friends who are left to cherish his memory at this time.

Paul Limback - September 26, 2018 - June 06, 2024

Departed: 06/06/2024 (Newport News)
Obituary Preview: Although we don’t know when Paul was born, and he was called Zeke at the shelter, on September 26, 2018, Paul was bound for his forever home.
Paul was a very specific dog who liked treats, belly rubs, cuddles, and his people (you would know very quickly if you were not one of his people). He was a loyal companion who spent a lot of time sleeping and enjoying his later years and resting but always in the presence of those he loved. Paul had an affinity for just being around the action, even if he was not a part of it directly. He liked watching tv, exploring new areas, getting the zoomies inside, walks, and absolutely without question-going for car rides. McDonald’s? North Carolina? Paul wanted to go.
Sadly, in his later years, he had a number of mobility issues, medications, treatments, and health challenges but throughout it all he persevered until we couldn’t watch him struggle and the light was growing dim from his gaptoothed smile (his previous family didn’t do proper oral care so he had a hockey player smile).
Paul is resting at the rainbow bridge awaiting the arrival of those who loved him-his father Joseph P. Limback, grandparents Joseph H. and Dr. Mary Limback, M.D., F.A.C.S., aunt Dr. Elizabeth Limback, D.V.M., his beloved coworkers during his time at the office, and other friends.

Kimber Windsor Carpenter - October 25, 2011 - September 13, 2023

Departed: 09/13/2023 (Newport News)
Obituary Preview: Kimber Windsor Carpenter, age 11, passed peacefully in her family's arms on September 13, 2023, in Norfolk, VA, due to congestive heart failure. Kimber was born on October 25, 2011 on a horse farm in Windsor, Virginia. Kimber was born the runt of the litter with a cleft lip that rendered her unwanted by most, but where most found she was defective, her family found her to be the best dog they ever had. Her personality was that of a firecracker. She was feisty and didn’t let anyone (dogs included) boss her around. She spent her best days chasing balls in the backyard, laying in the sun with her brother Sprocket and begging for snacks with an enthusiasm that could rival a vacuum cleaner. She was so loved by not only her owners, but their children too. She showed them all what true animal love should be and was beyond the true meaning of a "good dog". She had a heart (and stomach) that never missed a meal and a talent for cuddling up with her brother Sprocket that would make any blanket jealous. Kimber made trips to Nashville to visit her family there, loved car rides to the beach to watch sunsets and even small visits to her grandparents house while her parents were on vacation. She loved to snuggle up on the couch with her Abuela and watch crime shows, even though most of the time she spent snoring instead of watching tv. She was the most beautiful girl with her cleft lip and loud snores.
Preceded in death by her brother and litter mate Sprocket Ruger Carpenter, Kimber now joins him for endless games of fetch and snack time beyond the rainbow bridge. Though her time was short, Kimber leaves behind a legacy of warm cuddles and joyful play. We love you Kimber, please wait for us too at the rainbow bridge. May she rest in peace and perpetual treats.

Guinness Compagnone - March 26, 2011 - January 06, 2023

Departed: 01/06/2023 (Newport News)
Obituary Preview: Guinness Compagnone, 11, of Hayes, passed away on January 5, 2023. He passed away in true Guinness fashion as he was wheeled into the vet's office after one of his owners prepaid his euthanasia. He was the worst dog his owner Diane ever had, but he was her dog. He was the moodiest, do what I want dog that didn't listen. He hated potatoes and would leave them around the house, he loved tomatoes and would steal any tomato in reach. He also enjoyed stealing any of Diane's sock he could find, his owners are still finding socks in the yard after a year and a half. His favorite thing to do was to fight Napoleon the rooster, one time whacking him so hard in the head with his paw, Diane thought he was dead. Services were private.

Sprocket Ruger Carpenter - October 25, 2011 - August 23, 2022

Departed: 08/23/2022 (Newport News)
Obituary Preview: Sprocket Ruger "Sprocky" Carpenter
Born on a crisp autumn day, October 25, 2011, Sprocket Ruger "Sprocky" Carpenter took his first breath on a horse farm in Windsor, VA. With a personality as vibrant as a well-chewed tennis ball, Sprocky brought joy and laughter to every corner of his world for 10 years and 10 months until he peacefully departed on August 23, 2022, in Norfolk, VA with his family by his side.
Sprocky was not just your average ball-chasing enthusiast. He was a master of backyard playtime, a connoisseur of snacks, and a steadfast sentinel when it came to ensuring no human meal went uneaten. His uncanny ability to beg with those soulful eyes was nothing short of an art form.
When he wasn't busy ruling the backyard or gracing sunspots with his majestic presence, Sprocky could be found curled up in a cuddly heap with his beloved sister, Kimber, and his adoring family. Known for his loving nature and kind heart, he was essentially a big teddy bear wrapped in fur, always ready for a snuggle or a reassuring nuzzle.
Though his time with us was far too short, Sprocky left paw prints on our hearts that will never fade. He taught us the true meaning of unconditional love and the simple joys of everyday life. Rest easy, dear Sprocky—you’ve earned it.
