Catherine Louise McVicker - August 02, 1931 - April 30, 2024

Departed: 04/30/2024 (Waterville)
Obituary Preview: Catherine Louise McVicker, Matriarch of the McVicker clan played her final and extra inning on April 30, 2024. Louise, 92 years young, was born August 2, 1931, to Ted & Florence Henry in Pottstown, PA. Her family moved when she was young to Holland, Ohio where Louise and her younger sister Mary Alice were raised.
Louise graduated from Monclova High School as Salutatorian of her class and was actively involved in cheerleading, class officer, school paper, and band. In high school she met the love of her life Jimmy McVicker (“Minnie”). He was smitten by her, and she was the first and last girl he dated. He knew she was the one, he told his mom “Isn’t she the cutest girl and she loves sports”. Her nickname later became “Butch” and they soon after became “Butch and Minnie” the loving sports duo.
Louise & Jim (Butch & Minnie) were married on April Fool’s Day in 1950. Fools they were not as they were inseparable and had a loving relationship for 52 years, up until Jim’s passing in 2002. Together they raised their big family of 5 children and later brought into the fold Mi Chau (Max) from Vietnam to live with the family. Now they had the six children they had always dreamed of having, and continued to raise them in Whitehouse, Ohio.
Over the years, Louise & Jim opened their home to countless young people. Their faith, compassion for those less fortunate and their love of sports led to golf pros, Mudhens ball players, and troubled youth, inner city youth from the “Friendly Town” programs would come to live with the family. Louise was an area placement coordinator for Youth for Understanding for many years and placed students from around the world into area homes including hosting 13 exchange students in her and Jim’s home.
Jim & Lousie started the McVicker Insurance Agency in 1960 as they were raising their young family and Louise was an integral part in building their lifelong business. Louise was a leader throughout her community and church. She led 4-H groups, parent’s groups and was involved in band, choir, and sports boosters, she was also a facilitator for “Challenge Day”. Her lifelong commitment was to Hope United Methodist Church, her strong faith which was central to her life. She was actively involved in many committees, Women’s Group, and countless mission trips. Louise participated in 14 mission trips to Louisiana to help with the Katrina devastation. For 10 years she made yearly trips to the Henderson Settlement in Kentucky. Louise was dubbed the “drywall master” and put her mission buddies through some stress climbing ladders into her eighties. The Anthony Wayne Center for youth was founded by Louise and provided wonderful after school programming. She worked on Mobile Meals and was actively involved in weekly luncheons at her church for community members. Habitat for Humanity was another project close to her heart, she went to Ethiopia to help build a village. She was honored as the Grand Marshall at Whitehouse Cherry Festival for her lifetime achievement of community giving. Louise and Jim traveled the world visiting all their exchange students. Louise continued her love of travel and embracing other cultures long after Jim had passed and couldn’t wait to do another trip or visit another culture she had not been to and had visited over 50 countries. Her main road warrior partner later in life was her grandson, Mitch and they traveled around the country and globe exploring unknown territory and chatting away about life’s many mysteries and their deep faith. Their last trip culminated in a trip of a lifetime and one Jim & Louise dreamed of, to visit all 30 Major League ball parks in 5 weeks starting May 7, 2023, from the Toledo Mudhens at Fifth Third Field and ending June 11, 2024, at the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park, with many families and friends cheering her and Mitch on!
Louise’s family meant everything to her, and she continued to follow her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their sports and activities as she traveled far and wide to not miss out. She never forgot her 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren’s birthdays or gifts for them during the holidays.
Louise was a force, a one-of-a-kind person, a renaissance woman, an anomaly. She continually defied the odds and her age. Her mind was sharp as could be up until her final days. Her physical stamina and zest for life was un-matched. She continued to drive around the country into her 90’s. This past winter she drove to Naples, Florida to help her niece relocate. She hiked mountains out west and in other countries in her 80’s and put much younger ones to shame with her remarkable energy and many accomplishments.
Louise’s life motto and favorite phrase was “Choose Joy”, which was a testament to her faith and life. Louise aged so beautifully and that forever would be her legacy, she never gave up anything and her stubbornness and persistence was evident up until her last breath. She indeed was able to squeeze out as much joy as possible to the very end.
Her remarkable life will be imprinted on all who were blessed to know her. We were not ready to let our mom, Grandma, Gigi, or Weezy go but have enormous gratitude for her amazing life and lessons to “Choose Joy” and keep on living life as long as you can.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, daughter Becky and grandson Landon and sister Mary. She is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Bill), son Jim (Janet), son Scott (Sherry), son Andy and son Max. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Saundra L. Millns - August 25, 1944 - March 27, 2024

Departed: 03/27/2024 (Waterville)
Obituary Preview: Sandy Millns (born Saundra Lee), 79, of Waterville, Ohio passed away March 27, 2024. She was born August 25, 1944 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to the late Cyril Snyder and Evelyn McCleary. Her father died during WWII, so she was raised by her mother and stepfather Henry McCleary (deceased). She attended St. Elizabeth College and the University of Toledo and obtained her degree in elementary education. As a kindergarten teacher for Marshall Elementary School in Toledo, Ohio, she enjoyed taking her class of five year olds to the Toledo Zoo. On Friday April 13, 1973, she married the love of her life John Millns, and joined his family of five children. Through 33 years of marriage, the two celebrated their anniversary on every Friday the 13th. Sandy and her husband John became the foremost postcard dealers in the United States. After a career traveling to postcard shows across the U.S. and Europe, they established a very successful home-based Ebay business. Friends used to tease Sandy that she could make a million dollars in sales online but couldn't figure out how to attach a picture to an email!
She was a huge fan of sports at all levels, and an ardent Anthony Wayne fan. Foxwood Pony Club named her Grandma Emeritus for her support of not just her granddaughter but of all the riders at the barn. Years after these young folks were grown and had families of their own, they came to parties hosted at her house, where games were played and memories were made. She played field hockey when she was young, tennis when she was older, and was always up for encouraging a young athlete.
With an extended family spread across the United States, she was incredibly family-oriented. In her home she created a wall of photos with custom made frames for each family in her vast network-- children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. At one point it was hard to find space for the entire collection.
Sandy loved reading, puzzles, and playing games. She could have a good time with those she cared about wherever they went, whatever they were doing together, no matter the circumstances or crisis. She could make a trip to Walmart as much fun as a Caribbean vacation. She loved cats and dogs and will be met at the Rainbow Bridge by Maui Brown, Benny and Caledonia of the Waterville Bennermans, and Neville.
She is survived by her son John Millns, Jr. (Jennifer) of Odessa, Florida, daughter Sue VanWagner (Norm) of San Antonio, Florida, daughter Nancy Ransom of Grand Rapids, Ohio, grandchildren Tricia VanWagner (Jennifer) of Oceanside, CA, Molly Peterson (Gary) of Richland, WA, Matt Millns (Lindsey) of Aledo, TX, Maureen Pollitzer (Chuck) of Safety Harbor, FL, Laura Millns of Tampa, FL, Alex Brown of Waterville, OH, Tyler Brown (Anna) of Perrysburg, OH and Emily Corzatt (Shea) of Sunbury, OH and great-grandchildren Kale, Quin, Reid, Brooklyn, Isaac, Gabriel, John Patrick, Colleen, Charlie, Teddy, Nina, and Indy May.
She is survived by many friends who consider her family, including Melissa Altman, Liz Morgan, and great granddaughter Cassandra Kearse of Churchville, Virginia, Thor and Helene Hansen of Waterville, and Amber Bryan and Eric Smith of Toledo.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband John, sons Jeffrey Millns, and Mark Millns and son-in-law Bob Ransom.
A celebration of life will be held in summer 2024. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home. To share an online condolence or fond memory with the family please visit www.dunnfuneralhome.com

Kevin enjoyed taking on projects such as making maple syrup, bee keeping, and most recently, making mango wine that packed quite a punch. He was able to live his retirement dream and spend the cold Michigan winter months on the beaches of the Dominican Republic with his Dominican family, enjoying the 80° days and ocean breezes.
Above all else, he loved his family. When his children were young, weekends consisted of skiing, running all over northern Michigan for sports, competitive games of Risk, trips to Ohio to visit with family, and watching John Wayne movies on Sundays. He coached sports for his kids and loved encapsulating life's moments by taking photographs. He found joy watching his children build their own families. He loved his mother and sisters and dedicated every Sunday night to a phone call with his mom.
Kevin is survived by his mother Carol Hardy, children Nick (Megan) Hardy, Danielle (Frank) Szedely, Mitchell (Lauren) Hardy, and Kelsey (Jeremy Howe) Hardy, grandchildren Audrey, Mila and Eila, sisters Collette (Kurt) Dickey, Lennette Swanson, and Carole (Mark) Garrett as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Eugene Hardy, grandparents Clarence and Thelma Hardy and John and Ruth Amstutz and brother-in-law Jim Swanson.

Timothy Riddle - April 08, 1965 - November 22, 2023

Departed: 11/22/2023 (Waterville)
Obituary Preview: Timothy Lee Riddle, born April 8, 1965, passed away among friends and family at the Northwest Hospice Center in Perrysburg on November 22, 2023, at the age of 58.
Tim was adopted by Ted and Betty Riddle of Waterville as a baby, joining his sister, Lorrie, who was 5 years old. Ted Riddle died unexpectedly Mother’s Day weekend 1971, when Tim was 6.
Growing up without a father and being raised by his mother and grandmother was hard. As a kid, Tim loved superheroes, but Batman was always his favorite (which might explain that Batman tattoo!). While attending Anthony Wayne High School (class of ‘83), Tim volunteered as a member if the crew for 3 seasons at The Village Players, a community theatre group based in Toledo. Tim received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from BGSU. His major area of study was horror literature, which should not surprise anyone who knew him. He especially loved horror author HP Lovecraft and early Stephen King. An avid reader and book collector, he read all genres of fiction and non-fiction. He
worked on an MLS degree in order to become a librarian but was unable to complete this difficult program which involved commuting to Kent State.
Naturally, Tim loved horror films, his favorite being Salem’s Lot. Tim also loved Cedar Point, fairs, beer fests, music, Star Wars, old movies, and cats! Although he had several cats through his life, his 3 cats Jake, Calvin, and Tabitha have been with him for many years and were his constant companions.
Tim was an amazing son to his mother, Betty, helping her through years of kidney disease before she passed away in 2007. A few years ago, he was able to identify his birth mother, but she had passed away by the time he did so. Learning about her identity was very important to him.
Tim worked for 15+ years at The Anderson’s in Maumee and made many wonderful friendships there. When The Anderson’s closed in 2017, he began working at Rosenboom Machine & Tool in Bowling Green, where he also developed some wonderful friendships.
Tim is survived by his sister Lorraine Miller, his brother-in-law Jason, and a niece and nephew, Annalise and Theo Miller of Hamilton, MA. He is also survived by many friends and their families who loved him and enriched his life over the years.

Why are obituaries important?
