Eduardo H Alvarez - November 29, 1922 - February 15, 2022

Departed: 02/15/2022 (Pecos)
Obituary Preview: Eduardo H. “Lalo” Alvarez passed peacefully on February 15, 2022.  Born on November 29, 1922 in Brogado, TX, he never left home, except to serve his nation in the US Army between July 1945 and January 1947, ten of those months in Germany as a supply clerk in the 9th Quartermaster Company, 9th Infantry.  He married Jesuscita Galindo Alvarez on May 23, 1949, his bride of 71 years. Lalo retired from TxDOT in the early 1980s and he spent the rest of his life enjoying carpentry, playing his guitar, drinking coffee with Little Debbie’s Devil Cremes—or if he was lucky—his wife’s homemade chocolate cake, spending time with his family, and making his wife laugh. He was a wonderful storyteller and loved to tell jokes and his sage advice on life will be cherished by his family and friends. He rarely worried and accepted life as it came in all its joys and heartbreaks.  In 2013, he was featured in the book, “Authentic Texas: People of the Big Bend” by Marcia Hatfield Daudistel and Bill Wright and described as the “The Memory Keeper,” where he detailed just how much Balmorhea and his beloved Brogado had meant to him throughout the years.  When he became less active in his 90s, he watched reruns of “Three’s Company,” “Walker, Texas Ranger,” and listened to Mexican marimba music.  Lalo leaves behind his children, Alvaro G. Alvarez, Anna (Randy) Rossell , grandchildren, Stephanie Alvarez, Edward (Elicia) Alvarez, Adrian Alvarez, Scott (Marissa) Rossell, Alva Alvarez (Bill Weinacht), Jenny (Makia) Epie, and nine great-grand children, two sisters, and many nieces and nephews who loved him. He is predeceased by his wife, Jesuscita, his daughter, Norma, his son, Eddie and three brothers, Hilario, Clemente, and Alberto.  We will miss his funny goodbyes: “Don’t take any wooden nickels.”
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 10 am at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Balmorhea, Tx. There will be no visitation nor rosary on Monday, February 21, 2022. Mask are required at the church.
