Wayne Lee Adams - August 19, 1956 - May 11, 2024

Departed: 05/11/2024 (Covington)
Obituary Preview: This Obituary was lovingly written by his family. Wayne Lee Adams 8/19/1956 – 5/11/2024
Born to Gordon Lee and Carol Adams while his dad was on leave from the Navy in Baltimore, MD. Because of the whole 36 hours he “lived” in Baltimore; he claimed the Baltimore Orioles as his life time team. They later lived most of his young life in Coconut Creek, Fla. He is survived by his 3 sisters Wendy Brooks, Wanda Adams and Lori Hall and their spouses. He also is survived by his nieces and nephews, Tristan, Melina, Hailey and Logan. Doug Brooks was his high school best friend. He met his wife Pam Adams at J C Penney, in Tallahassee, Fla. where they were both managers, after going to Florida State University. At his passing they were headed for 38 years married. They were married on New Year’s Eve in ’86. Yes, Bowl Game Time! Wayne became a very proud father on March 1, 1990, and again on June 4, 1992, with the birth of his two sons. Both born in Tallahassee, Fla. So of course, this made them lifetime fans of FSU also! (See a pattern here?!)
The loves of his life were his sons. He couldn’t be prouder of both of them. Staff Sargeant Kevin Adams and his family Lyndsey, Harley and Aurora currently live in Fort Drum, NY, and has been in the service for 14 years. His son Justin Matthew lives in Covington, GA, with his family and has worked for MMI Events Company with electrical, sound and engineering for the last 10 plus years. Wayne has used their combined birthday for every password forever. (No cheating!) He is also survived by Pam’s brother Thomas Addison and wife Giselia and mother-in-law Pat Jones.
Because both Wayne and Pam were retail managers, they were able to take Winter vacations after Christmas when the kids were on school break. So, most years they were up on the slopes, either skiing, ice skating or winter sightseeing in the Carolina's. Besides being an avid FSU fan (no sport is excluded here) and his massive FSU clothing and hat collection, he was extremely excited for the upcoming draft for the NFL and baseball regionals. Pam has all the acceptance calls on her phone and will play them for him, sometime in the future!
Wayne and Pam and Justin also have 2 dogs who adore their human daddy, Lusy Lou and Pepe Lepieu.
We will all miss him.

Gary Alan Lindemann - September 08, 1946 - March 02, 2024

Departed: 03/02/2024 (Covington)
Obituary Preview: Gary Alan Lindemann, 77, of Conyers, Georgia passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, surrounded by family.
Gary was born September 8, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois to Marion (Aspen) and William Lindemann joining his older brother Bill of 3 years. At age 4, the family moved to Buffalo, New York where the boys were raised through childhood. At age 12, Gary discovered amateur radio (ham radio) with which he passionately stayed active and licensed for the rest of his life as call sign N4OLN. After graduating from Bennett High School, Gary was hungry to learn more and earned a degree in Radio Electronics. He then moved back to Chicago, Illinois and started a career with Motorola, Inc.
Later, in 1978, while living in the Oak Park community of Chicago, Gary met the love of his life, Carla at a picnic in the park. Both loved the outdoors and in time, would instill this love to their children. On April 28, 1979, they were married and moved to the Buffalo Grove community to start a family and for Gary, a new career with AT&T. Then in 1984, with their 3 year old and 10 month old, the family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where they lived for 7 years and then moved again in 1991 to Conyers, Georgia.
Gary was a hard-working and loyal member of AT&T, spending most of his 30-year career with them managing long distance, international telephone technology. To his family, Gary was a loving and supportive husband, and father. He took his family hiking and camping often, was active with his children through Scouting and took pride in their topmost achievements. At home, Gary was a fixture in front of his ham radio or could be seen stringing antennas up high in the loblolly pine trees outside. Through this hobby he made an uncountable number of connections around the world including the South Pole and felt responsible to keep up this art in the event of a national emergency where typical communications might be unavailable.
Gary also had an interest in space technology and astronomy calling his family and friends outside when the International Space Station, close planets or shooting stars were overhead. Throughout everything, Gary enjoyed a good laugh, a good (or bad) joke and was never shy to try and get a laugh out of you.
Gary is survived by his wife Carla, daughter Robin (John) Tortorello of Nashville, Tennessee, and son Eric (Carrie) Lindemann of Atlanta, Georgia; and four grandchildren, Asher and Emily Tortorello and Arch and Evaline Lindemann. He is also survived by his brother, Bill (Marty) Lindemann of Hudson, Ohio.
Gary's church and family are hosting a service and reception in his honor on Saturday, March 16th, 2024, at the Epiphany Lutheran Church 2375 GA Hwy 20 SE, Conyers, Georgia 30013. Visitation will be held at 12 PM, with the formal service starting at 1 PM. All are invited.

Patricia A Cooper - August 11, 1940 - September 12, 2023

Departed: 09/12/2023 (Covington)
Obituary Preview: Patricia Ann Weaver Cooper August 11, 1940 - September 12, 2023
Patricia was born in Atlanta Georgia, the youngest of 5 children, to Walter E and Anna Porter Weaver. She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters Joyce Brock and Betty Carey and brother Hoyt Weaver. She is survived by her sister Helen Pruett, her stepdaughter Laurel Smithson (Michael), step granddaughters Kelly and Pamela Smithson, Nieces Angie Payton (David), Cindy Roberts, Diana Merrick (Reg), Machelle Payton and nephews Chris Carey, Rocky Poyner and Allen Poyner (Penny) as well as her best friend Betty Colson and her best buddy Freddy. Pat spent most of her life working as a waitress and caregiver. Her infectious smile and friendly personality always won over the hangriest of people! She was very proud of completing the CNA Course that allowed her to provide in-home care for several people. Her last job was at the Golden Corral in Winder GA where she ran circles around the younger wait staff!
Eighteen years ago, she moved to Athens GA and into Denny Towers Senior Apartments. She was very active in resident meetings, various activities and ceramics taught by her friend Betty. She loved to create special gifts for her family and friends. Her favorite songs were Hello Darling by Conway Twitty and Elvira by the Oak Ridge Boys. She loved to tell the story about being at Conway Twitty’s concert in the early 90’s. When he walked out on stage, he said “Hello Darling” and she passed out! She would pause for a moment then tell the rest of the story: it was 95 degrees; they were outside in the sun and in a crowd. After some water she was able to enjoy the rest of the concert. Telling that story always made her laugh! Her favorite activity was buying Scratch Off lottery tickets, especially Jumbo Bucks! She won a little something almost every time and kept hoping for that big win so she could buy a little red car! She always tried to find joy in the little things in life.
Pat faced much adversity in her life but her positive attitude and stubborn determination brought her through very hard times. She was a faithful friend of Bill W for 34 years. In August 2021 she contracted COVID and after a 2-year battle with Long Covid she just couldn’t struggle anymore, but she put up one hell of a fight!
Thank you to the dedicated MDs, PAs, NPs, PTs and Nursing Staff at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital, Piedmont Heart Center, Piedmont Community Care Clinic, Piedmont and St. Mary’s Home Health, Pruitt Hospice as well as Molly and Angela at Horton’s Drug for the exceptional care she received.
Her wishes were to be cremated and placed next to her brother at Holly Hill Cemetery in Fairburn, GA. A gathering of family and friends will be planned at a later date.

In 1976, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he would spend the next 4 years. People who know Tony will say they almost never saw him where he was not wearing a U.S. Navy ball cap. He was very proud to have served and loved his country. While enlisted he met his future wife, Carol Ann Finley.
In 1981 he married his loving wife Carol Ann McGiboney of 42 years. They were married during Carol Ann’s senior year and never looked back. Shortly after marriage he began his lifelong journey of fatherhood. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his 3 children TJ McGiboney, Tonya McGiboney, and Travis (Amanda) McGiboney of Covington. He had 5 grandchildren that he loved beyond measure: Aidan McGiboney, Eva McGiboney, Brooklynn Amerson, Zion Cook, and Cade McGiboney. He was also a loving brother to his surviving sister Debra McGiboney Griffith (Rich) of Jacksonville, FL. Brother-in-law Quinn Hopkins of Smryna, and father-in-law Fred Hopkins of Covington.
Tony spent most of his working life managing a warehouse for Maxell for 23 years before moving on to a couple other companies to eventually retiring in 2017. When his only daughter started playing softball, he spent some of his spare time either coaching her or cheering her on from the bleachers. One of his favorite past times was playing a round of golf. He shared his love of golf with both of his boys and he never missed any of their high school matches.
After retiring, Tony loved spending his mornings sitting on his front porch drinking his coffee and watching the hummingbirds and all the other wildlife. He always said his true happy place would be a mile up the side of a mountain in a log cabin. He loved his 3 children dearly, but nothing compares to the love he had for all his grandchildren. For the longest his “bestest buddy” was Aidan McGiboney for 15 years before he was bombarded by 4 more grandchildren that he would come to love dearly.
A celebration of life service will be held September 14, 2023, at Love Joy United Methodist Church (12835 Hwy 36, Covington 30014) with Pastor Gill Gainer officiating. Visitation will be from 4pm-5pm and service to follow. Friends may send flowers to the church or donations to be made to Love Joy United Methodist Church in his honor.
