She was born on January 18, 1948 in Germany to Wilhelm Müller Sr. and Lieselotte ( Fronk) Müller.
She married Richard Barnes Sr. and he preceded her in death on August 5, 1985.
Regina loved to work in her garden, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Richard Barnes Jr. of Jamestown, North Dakota, two daughters, Donna ( David ) Glass of Marion and Mary Ann (Mark) Staton of Thompsonville, grandchildren, Shelby, Mackenzie, Zach, Cara and Madison, a nephew, Christian Müller and by a sister, Heidi Müller of Germany.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard Barnes Sr. and by her brother, Wilhelm Müller Jr.
Private services will be held at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home.

She was born April 10, 1950 in West Frankfort. She was raised by her mother Marcella (Karroll) Burton and step father Wavell Burton.
Miki worked for many years as a Surgical Technician at Union Hospital and also had worked for 30 years for Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and was very involved in her church when she was able to attend.
She is survived by her son, Greg Melvin of West Frankfort, daughter, Amanda Melvin of California, grandchildren, Aubriana, Kayden, Mason, Israel, Joseph and Isaiah, James and Chase and great grandchildren, Inzo and Eli , a step daughter, Nicole Johnson. Also surviving is a sister, Cheryl Aldridge of West Frankfort, brother-in-law, Bennie Aldridge of West Frankfort and a friend Brenda Aldridge. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, James E. Melvin on July 4, 1993, sister, Sue Lucas and by nephews, Jeff and Jason Aldridge and Todd Lucas
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Pastor Gary Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Tower Heights Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00 A.M on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Miki  to the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Larry Gene Toler was born September 19, 1931 in West Frankfort, Illinois and died April 8, 2024 in Marion, Illinois. He was the youngest of ten children born to Daniel Lee and Eva Ethel Russell Toler and was the only one of the siblings born outside of Goreville in Johnson County. His parents, his son Donald Lee, three brothers, Donal, Jack, and Carlyn six sisters Pauline Newlin, Evelyn Throgmorton, Lois Toler, Naoma Martin, Leeanna Tate, Mary Miller step son-in-law Harold Dean Wininger, step grandson Jerimy Deon Porritt, step granddaughter Kari Lynn Porritt preceded him in death.
Larry attended rural Cana School and Goreville High School, graduating in 1948. During four years in the U.S. Navy he served as ambulance driver on Guam in the south Pacific and in the Supply Department aboard two amphibious ships during the Korean Conflict. After the Navy, he attended Southern Illinois University, graduating with a degree in Geology in 1953 and attended graduate school at the University of Montana, Missoula and the University of Missouri, Columbia. He worked in the mines and minerals industries for two years and began a career in Water Resources with the U.S. Geological Survey at Ocala, Florida in 1961. He later worked in Boston, Massachusetts and Champaign, Illinois before retiring from the government in 1988. After four retirement years in Vermont, he returned to Johnson County Illinois.
Larry was married first to Marsha Ackerman in 1965 in West Palm Beach, Florida and secondly in 1970 to Joan McKay in Melrose, Massachusetts. Two children, Donald and Anna, were adopted into this second union. Donald died in an auto accident in 1989 in Vermont. Anna Toler resides in New York. Larry married Violet Hall on August 23, 1995 in Benton, Illinois and they resided near Goreville before moving to West Frankfort in 2011. They moved to Marion, Voyage Senior Living, in 2023.
Larry is survived by his wife, daughter Anna Toler (Greg Ashline) of Johnstown, NY, two grandsons, Donald Kakule of Hoosick Falls, NY, Theodore Brogue of Hoosick Falls, NY, one great granddaughter Lyla Violet Kakule, four step daughters Pamela (Scott) McReynolds of Loudon, TN, Beth Porritt of West Frankfort, IL, Wendy Wininger of Benton, IL, Kelly (Troy) Knight of Benton, IL, 9 step grandchildren, 23 step great grandchildren and one step great great grandchild. Two special friends Andi Sloniger of Mahomet, IL and Michelle (Shell) Boyer of Melrose, MA.
Per his wishes, Larry will be cremated and part of his ashes interred at Cana Cemetery north of Goreville. A portion of his ashes will be sprinkled on his son Donald’s grave in Bennington, Vermont. Larry did not wish to have a service at this time. A graveside memorial for family will be held at a later date.

Obituary Preview: Miriam L. Griffin, 80, of Thompsonville, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana, following a brief illiness.
She was born on November 25, 1943 in Union Hospital in West Frankfort Vernon and Nellie (Minton) Brannan.
Miriam married David L. Griffin on July 3, 1971 at Tower Rock, Illinois by Judge Woodrow C. Frailey. They were married 42 wonderful years.
Miriam was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and niece to her family that she adored.
She loved old country music, 50& 60 music and gospel music. She love to work picture puzzles, crossword puzzles and take and arrange photographs. Her pictures meant the world to her.
She loved doing genealogy and knew a lot about the families. She enjoyed her computer, especially Facebook.
She and her husband David traveled quite a bit, they loved doing that, seeing places and just being together. They bought a video store in 1985 and they worked it until 1992. They enjoyed all the people they met and they remained with so many of them.
Miriam was of the Pentecostal faith and is a member of the Thompsonville Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents Vernon on April 17, 1996 and Nellie Brannan January, 29, 1999, son, Thomas F. McDonough Jr. on June 8, 2007 and by her husband, David on May 6, 2013.
She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Melodie and Carlos Rife of Thompsonville , Sharron and Jeff Evans of Thompsonville and Nancy and Robert Bradley of Buckner. There is also surviving 6 grandchildren, Veronica (Seth) Howell, Cheryl (Joe) Woolsey, Alecia McDonough, Michael (Whitney) McDonough, Hunter McDonough and Andrew Bradley and 7 great grandchildren, Jacob, Deseray, Landon, Jaxton, Josephine, Wren and Hatti. He children, grand and great grandkids were the love of her life.
Also surviving are her siblings and their spouses, Wayne and Rose Brannan of West Frankfort, Leon and Libby Brannan of Thompsonville and Ralph and Betty Brannan of West Frankfort and a brother and sister in law, Dan and Lori Griffin of Raleigh, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews whom she loved them all.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 12:00 Noon at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Pastor Brian Mixon and Leon Brannan officiating. Burial will be in the Denning Cemetery on the Orient road.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.

Patricia F. (Adkins) Hollandsworth of Lafayette, Indiana peacefully stepped into Heaven Tuesday March 12, 2024 with family at her side.
Patricia was born February 10, 1936, at the UMWA Hospital in West Frankfort, Illinois. She was the first of eleven children born to William E. and Dorothy M. Adkins.
She was a graduate of the Thompsonville High School in Thompsonville, Illinois and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University (IU).
Patricia and her husband, Rev. Luke Hollandsworth shared over 49 years of marriage, serving for 41 years as pastors as the Emmanuel Bible Church in Lafayette, Indiana.
Patricia was not only an accomplished vocalist, but she also played twelve musical instruments, excelling on piano, organ, saxophone, and accordion. She was always the musician who led family singings for hours on end at most all family gatherings. To say that the Adkins family loved music would definitely be an understatement.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and siblings William R. (Bill) Adkins, Marilyn Jane Rogers, Judith Ann (Chet) Crites, one stillborn baby sister, and a sister who died in infancy, named Dorothy Adkins.
She is survived by her loving husband, Reverend Luke Hollandsworth, and siblings, Robert E. (Jerri) Adkins, James M. (Carmel) Adkins, Gerald A. (Brenda) Adkins, Stephen E. (Mary Jo) Adkins and Timothy L. (Janice) Adkins; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois. Prior to the service, visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort.

She married Allen Holden on June 24, 1999 in Murphysboro, Illinois and he survives. Besides her husband Allen, she is survived by her 3 children, Ryan Androff of Conway, Arkansas, Sean Gleghorn of Herrin and Amanda (Matthew) Baker of Herrin, grandchildren, Brenden Baker, Vanessa Baker, Daniel Baker, Gabriella Baker and Jaxon Baker, a nephew, John Michael Thomas. She is also survived by her brother, Scott Thomas (Keri Richardson) of Benton and by uncles, Roy Wayne (Zina) Nolen of West Frankfort, Don (Lora) Nolen of Marion ,Tom (Carla) Nolen of Herrin and Lowel Cabot Thomas and aunt Harriet Thomas Presa

She is survived by a son, Glenn Ashby Jr. and husband Mark McCoy of Owensboro, KY, by 2 daughters, Cathy Wilson and Debra Stanley both of West Frankfort. Also surviving are grandchildren, Travis Wilson, Todd Wilson, Nathan Wilson and Marcus Wilson, Amanda Stanley, Andrea Coley, and Ben and Joe Stanley, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Glenn Ashby Sr. and Charles Sutfin and by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Marion with Rev. Stan Seroti officiating. Friends are ask to meet at the cemetery prior to the service.

Dean was born May 31, 1952, in West Frankfort. He was a lover of motorcycles, old cars, his TV and coffee, the mountains, and aggravating everyone. But most importantly he loved his kids and grandkids more than anything.
Dean is survived by his wife of 39 years, Wendy, his daughter Ashley (Earl) Flener, his son Travis (Courtney) Wininger, four grandchildren Gretchen, Gracetyn, Paxton, and Afton. He is also survived by brothers Larry (Betsy), Mike, and Gerald (Dianna) Delgy; sister Rita (Renegade) Couch; sister in laws Pam (Scott) McReynolds, Beth Porritt, Kelly (Troy) Knight, Lynn (Ross) Case, Charlee Hodson; brother in law Jay (Anyssa) Bates, Thomas Hodson, mother and father in law, Violet and Larry Toler, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; step-father Bert Meacham; father-in-law Ed Hodson; sister Kay; and brothers Rick, Don, Kevin and Leon. Dean did not want a service, but a visitation will be held from 10am-12pm on Tuesday , February 20, 2024 at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort

He married Gloria ( Pugh ) Maddaleno on September 17, 1953 in Benton and she preceded him in death on October 28, 1999.
John loved to go duck hunting, bluegill fishing and putting out a garden every year. He worked for many years for the United States Army Aviation and served in the Air Force. He is survived by a daughter, Tina Maddaleno of Okawville, by a son, Joe (Stacy) Maddaleno of Okawville, by 2 grandchildren, Josh (Shannon) Maddaleno of Hillsboro and Meghan (Matt) Biggs of Mascoutah and by great grandchildren, Ethan, Carsen, Avery, Caden and Collin
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gloria, by a son, Bruce Maddaleno and by his brother, Fred Maddaleno.

Stephen M. (Steve) Cook - September 27, 1950 - January 23, 2024

Obituary Preview: Stephen M (Steve) Cook, 73, beloved husband, father, and grandfather went home to be with his Savior to live eternally on Tuesday, Jan 23, 2024. He was born in Christopher IL, Sept 27, 1950 to Kenneth and Darlene (Oltman) Cook of West Frankfort. He was a 1968 graduate of Frankfort Community High School and a 1973 graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He was 73. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in WF, where he served as deacon, choir member, Sunday School teacher and director, served on several committees, helped with the church youth, and volunteered at the church clothing room. He sang in The Lordsmen Quartet, was a West Frankfort city commissioner for 10 years, and helped every Wednesday at FCHS First Priority. He very much enjoyed watering the plants on Main Street for the last two summers. Before retiring in 2011, he was employed by Freeman Coal, the City of West Frankfort as a Police Officer and Water Superintendent, and for a short time worked at Cook Sales, Cobden IL.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Jayma (McKee) Cook, two daughters, Stephanie (Bryan) Jones of Graysville AL and Shannon (Ryan) Metcalfe, of Mt Washington Ky, a brother Mark (Brenda) Cook, Jerrell, Texas, sister Kendra (Callie) Penn, Lynchburg, Virginia, and sister in law, Gaye Morris, West Frankfort. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, Rebekah Odle, Jacob Odle (fiancée Kaylee Euler), Jaron Odle, Micah Odle, Ella Odle, Sydney Adamson and Chase Epley. He is also survived by 3 nieces, Mindy Clark, Meridy Cooksey and Aimee Lowrey and 3 nephews, Mark Cook Jr, Graham Penn and Jackson Penn, 8 great nieces 2 great nephews, 1 great-great niece and 1 great-great nephew. He will especially be missed by his miniature schnauzer, Buddy Cook.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his in laws, Bill and Margaret McKee and an infant twin grandson, Caleb Michael Epley.

He married Virgie ( Sparks ) Mabry on November 25, 1956 and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Leroy Mabry, Paul Mabry, Virgil Mabry, Kenneth Mabry, Margaret Flemming, Katharyn Sparks and Mary Edna Vise.
He is survived by a daughter, Kendra (Harold) Marlow of Troy, Illinois, a son, Larry (Diane) Mabry of Burlington, KY, grandchildren, Heath (Jackie) Hancock of Leawood, KS, Danielle Hall of Troy, IL, Brandon (Heather) Mabry of Jacksonville, FL, and Steve (Michele) Marlow of Christopher, IL and Laura and Elizabeth Oh of Burlington, Ky.
Also surviving are great grandchildren, Henry and Hannah Hancock of Leawood, KS, Erik Mabry of Jacksonville, FL, Aiden McPherson and Julian McPherson of Jacksonville, FL, Jordan Marlow, Brayden Marlow and Macey Marlow all of Christopher, IL.

Visitation will be after 11:00 A.M. on Saturday prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the East Fork Cemetery with military rights by the American Legions of Orient and Zeigler and the VFW of West Frankfort.

He was born August 27, 1921 in Dyersburg, Tn. to James I. Watkins and Aria (Brassfield) Watkins.
Harvey was a heavy equipment operator for many years. He served his country in the United States Army during WW11. He was a member of the Cambria Christian Church. He loved to go dancing, fishing and working in his garden. He had a great sense of humor and loved telling a joke. Harvey was a huge Atlanta Braves baseball fan and enjoyed watching them on TV.
He first married Geraldine (Brown) Watkins and she preceded him in death on October 9, 2012. He then married Barbara ( Crafts) Watkins and she survives.
Besides his wife Barbara, he is also survived by a son, Jeff Watkins of West Frankfort, 2 daughters, Sherry Perry of Lake Of Egypt and Mollie Puckett Bell and husband Rob of Marion, 2 step children, Jeffrey (Katy) Copple of Centralia and Brian (Maria) Copple of Midlothian, VA.
Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Curtis Watkins, Paul Watkins, Drew Watkins, Brian Bruer, Stevie Puckett, Stephanie Grigsby and Brynne Martinez, 2 step grandchildren, Madeline and Brian Copple as well as 14 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Geraldine and by a son, Curtis L. Watkins
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 12:00 Noon at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Rev. Jeff Wiggs officiating. Visitation will be after 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday prior to the service.

First United Methodist Church in Murphysboro, IL, for the past 18 years.

He was born on July 26, 1945 in West Frankfort to M.C. Odle Jr. and Rose (Teauge) Odle.
He was a wonderful husband, son, father and grandfather.
Roger worked for 38 years as a salesman for Kraft Foods ( now known as US Foods). Throughout his successful career, he made many lifelong friends. Roger enjoyed working on his cars and especially loved his 1969 Corvair convertible. He made many friends throughout his racing days. His father M.C. Odle Jr; was a well known sign painter in West Frankfort for years and Roger was instrumental in helping with the building and placement of the signs throughout Southern Illinois.
Even when his health was declining, Roger was also helping family. He was the President of the Tower Heights Cemetery and took his responsibilities very serious. He took great pride in the upkeep of the cemetery and helping others in their time of need.
Roger is survived by his wife Brenda, daughter Lori (Donnie) Carpenter, son, Chris (Kateri) Odle and youngest son, Andy (Amy) Odle. He had 7 loving grandchildren, Lucas and Brock Wilson, Amelia Odle, Greg and Tripp Fletcher and Ryder and Donovan Purtle. He also was crazy about his 2 great grandsons, Leighton and Waylon Wilson. Mr. Odle also had 2 special nephews, David and Dale Krell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, M.C. and Rose Odle, Father and Mother in law, Art and Pearl Walker, a sister in law, Jan Krell and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Roger served his country in the United States Army.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Rev. Mike Cash officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tower Heights Cemetery. Five great grandchildren, Chase, Braxton, Dakota, MacKenzie, and Alexis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Tish, parents Henry and Alice Heyder, brothers Norman, Wayne, and Keith.
He was a graduate of the FCHS class of 1955 where he was a Class officer, Band Captain, Rifle Club President, Student Council Member, Key Club member, Red Bird Notes staff and served as Student Governor in Springfield. After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy. He was self-employed in various industries. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Thompsonville where he had been active in various capacities.
Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday December 16th at the Parker Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort with John Butler officiating. Burial will be in Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be between 11:00 am to 1:0O p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

After his tour was completed, he was employed as a refrigeration mechanic at Southern Illinois University for many years until he moved his family to Florida in 1985. Once in Florida, Jerry achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a general contractor. If you knew Mr. Jerry, despite numerous conversations with family and friends trying to get him to retire, he hadn't quite given it up yet. His only hobby was working and he began at the age of 9 peddling newspapers for the Daily American and ended at the age of 85, still building custom homes. Jerry was a good-standing member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, Lions Club, and American Legion and he was a Mason. Jerry was a kind man and will be missed by all who knew him.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Carolyn Castagna, daughter Holly Castagna, and many, many friends.

He is also survived by brothers, Dean (Wendy) Wininger of West Frankfort, Leon (Patti) Wininger of Thompsonville, Larry (Betsy) Wininger of West Frankfort, Mike Wininger of West Frankfort and Gerald (Dianna) Delgy of Reno, NV. He is also survived by a sister, Rita (Mike) Couch of Johnston City
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brently Wininger, his parents, brothers, Rick and Don Wininger, sister, Kay Wininger and by his step father, Bert Meacham.

Larry Ray Beavers - September 18, 1951 - November 01, 2023

Larry Ray Beavers, of Marion, Illinois, passed away on November 1, 2023, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana at the age of 72.  During his final days he was surrounded by his children, family, and friends; then his loving wife, Beverly, and his sister held his hands as he peacefully slipped away in the early morning. Larry was known for his happy-go-lucky personality and positive attitude, which remained throughout his extended hospitalization. He will be remembered as loving, funny, and generous to a fault.
Larry was born in Christopher, Illinois on September 18, 1951, to Bob R. Beavers and Elizabeth June (Humphrey) Beavers. After his graduation from West Frankfort Community High School in 1969, Larry enlisted in the United States Navy. After completing his initial service, Larry returned to Illinois and briefly lived a civilian life as a coal miner working at Peabody Coal Company in Freeburg and then Old Ben Coal Company in Franklin County. Larry eventually made the decision to reenlist in the Navy and retired after more than 20 years of service. He served during the Vietnam War and during peacetime after his reenlistment. Chief Petty Officer Beavers served at sea as an Operations Specialist (OP) and on land as a Navy Recruiter. He was rewarded multiple times during his recruiting career with the title of Recruiter of the Year. After his retirement from active duty, Larry continued to serve his fellow veterans working at the Scott Airforce Base, Military and Family Readiness Center as a financial counselor. Larry’s family and friends were thankful and proud of his honorable service.
Larry had three children from his first marriage. Those surviving children and grandchildren are Daughter, Stacy Ladd, of San Diego, California and her children, Violette, and Allyssa; Son, Paul Beavers, who resides with his mother, Sherrie Beavers, in West Frankfort, IL; two grandsons, Paul “Paulie” Beavers (Jade) and Chris Skjerseth (Estrella); and eight great-grandchildren all of California.
Larry later reunited with “the girl he left behind” when he enlisted in the Navy in 1969. He and his high school sweetheart, Beverly Smothers Price, were married on April 8, 1996. Larry gained two stepsons with his marriage to Beverly. He is survived by Shawn Price of West Frankfort and his children Gabe and Ellie, and Brad Price also of West Frankfort and his children Tyler and Ayden. Together Larry and Beverly adopted two precious babies. Luke Beavers and Alora Beavers remain with their mother, Beverly, in Marion, IL and are now in college.
Other survivors include his mother, June Beavers of Marion, brothers Gary Beavers of Herrin and Bobby Beavers (Barri Melvin Rinella) of West Frankfort, sister Jo Ann Dick (Bryan) of Mulkeytown, several nieces and nephews, many of his first friends—his cousins, and special friends Doyle and Rita Mills.
Larry was proceeded in death by his sister, Connie Beavers in 2002, his brother in-law, Ron Smothers in 2005, his father, Bob R. Beavers in 2006, his daughter, Tracy Skjerseth in 2008, also a granddaughter, Brittany Skjerseth, and a great-grandson.
Larry will be cremated with interment at the Mound City National Cemetery, Mound, Illinois. Graveside services with Naval Honor Guard will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are asked to arrive at the Mound City National Cemetery, Highway Junction 37 & 51, by 10:30 a.m. Those that cannot attend the service may pay their respects at the Calvary Bible Church in West Frankfort IL. after 2:00 p.m.
