Born April 5, 1946 in Moultrie, Mrs. Williams was the daughter of the late Charles Curtis Conner and Inez Day Conner. She was married to the late James Albert “Jimmy” Williams and was also preceded in death by sisters, Charline Akridge, Eloise Strickland and Janice McDaniel, and a brother, Frankie Conner. Mrs. Williams was co-owner of Camilla Garden Center. She was an involved member and teacher at First Baptist Church of Camilla and an active member of the Camilla Garden Club. She was a homemaker, with her number one role being wife, mother, and MeMe.
Survivors include her son, Ted Williams (Melanie) of Mauldin, SC; daughters, Jamie Carter (Scott) of Jacksonville, FL, Christi Marsh (Bill) of Valdosta, and Daye Woodall (Kirk) of Camilla; her grandchildren (who called her MeMe), Madelaine Williams, Alexa Williams, Theo Williams, Ainsley Williams Griffin (David), Tessa Williams, Maryann Williams, Malorie Carter Stec (CJ), Rebecca Carter Galeskas (Victor), Conner West, McKenna Marsh Stanford (Doug), Matt Marsh (Meredith), Morgan Holder and Cole Holder; great grandchildren, Sadie Griffin, Isla Jane Martin, Judah Galeskas, Hosanna Galeskas, Charlie Stec, Josie Stec and Micah Stanford; siblings, Nadine Hayes, Marie Whittle, Joan Pitts and Johnny Conner.

Born March 2, 1963 in Sylvester, GA, Mrs. Vann was the daughter of the late Cortez Barnett Sizemore and Earleen Joyce Wilkerson Sizemore. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robby Sizemore; father-in-law, Frank C. Vann; and brother-in-law, F. Cochran Vann, Jr. Mrs. Vann was a member of Camilla United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and farming partner. She attended ABAC in Tifton and received a Master’s degree from Valdosta State University in Early Childhood Education.
Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Scott Emory Vann of Baconton; son, Frank Emory Vann of Baconton; daughter, Robby Jane Vann of Baconton; sister, Vicki Bryan of Mexico Beach, FL; brother-in-law, Jimmy Bryan of Shingler; step-mother, Sharon Sizemore of Worth County; mother-in-law, Janie C. Mr. Pollock was born April 11, 1939 in Mitchell County. He was the son of the late Tom W. Pollock and Mary Lou Edwards Pollock. Mr. Pollock was a veteran of the United States Army, retired from Merck & Co., as a utility operator and a member of Southside Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #128 in Camilla, Shriner’s Hasan Temple in Albany and Albany York Rite and Scottish Rite. He was preceded in death by his brother, Julian Pollock, sister-in-law, Jan Pollock; and brother-in-law, Franklin Hunt.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Shirley Ann Pollock of Camilla; son, Jack Edwin Pollock, Jr., (Kathy) of Bogart; brother, James A. Pollock of Camilla; sisters, Joyce Pullen (Keaton) of Sale City, Annie Ruth Hunt of Camilla, Jeanette Kelly (Randall) of Hartsfield and Juanita Sherrill (Tim) of Camilla; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Albert Maitland Yates, Jr. - October 08, 1942 - April 17, 2024

Obituary Preview: Albert Maitland Yates, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Maitland was a deeply loved husband, father, son, grandfather, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
Born in Thomasville, Georgia on October 8, 1942, Maitland was the only son of Maitland and Rubye Yates of Pelham, GA. He graduated from Pelham High School in 1960 and then attended The University of Georgia, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and earned a degree from The Terry Business School. Upon graduating from UGA, he returned home to begin his over 50 year career with Chevrolet at Yates Motor Company (Pelham), Bell Chevrolet (Cairo) & Crow Chevrolet (Camilla). Maitland married the love of his life, Dianne Roth Yates of Camilla, GA in 1963. Together they built a life that brought him his deepest joys, their children Todd, John, and Alison and later their three grandsons Drew Yates, Thomas and Yates Kelleher who affectionately called him “Papa.”
Maitland was extremely active in both Pelham and Camilla Rotary Clubs where he served as president for both organizations. He also served as Assistant Governor for the Georgia Rotary Club. He was a Paul Harris Fellow, due to his outstanding service to the Rotary Club International Foundation.
Maitland was a councilman and served as mayor pro tem for the city of Pelham, GA in the 1970s. He was extremely active in Ravenwood and Westwood Schools Booster Clubs and also served as president at both schools organizing many fundraisers.
Maitland was a member of Camilla United Methodist Church of Camilla, GA. His faith and love of God was a very important part of his life. He and Dianne have a deep love for the Camilla United Methodist Church and the wonderful congregation that has given them such devoted love and support over the years.
Maitland has long been known for his deep love of the University of Georgia and he was one of UGA’s most loyal fans. He truly loved anything Georgia BULLDAWG and was so very proud of all his children and grandchildren that attended The University of Georgia. One of his favorite things to say is GO DAWGS! Maitland’s legacy will always be remembered by laughter and happiness he always brought to a conversation. He loved to tell a good story and he had many of them…..a life well lived.
Maitland leaves behind a strong loving family that he was so extremely proud.
He is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Dianne Yates; his children, Todd Yates (Ginny) of Atlanta/Bainbridge, GA; John Yates of Camilla, GA and Alison Y. Kelleher (Charles) of Newnan, GA. His grandchildren Drew Yates and Quillin and Slade Perlis all of Atlanta, GA; Thomas and Yates Kelleher of Newnan, GA; & his sister-in-law, Donna Roth of Camilla, GA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Maitland Yates, Sr.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at 2:00 pm at Camilla United Methodist Church of Camilla, GA. Jerry Palmer and James Lee Adams will officiate. Those serving as honorary pallbearers are members of The Camilla Rotary Club and the members of the 1960 Pelham High School graduating class. The family will receive friends and loved ones immediately after the service in the fellowship hall. A private family interment will follow at a later time.

Obituary Preview: William Mathew Goolsby, 59 of Camilla passed away unexpectedly on March 24, 2024. Services will be held 2:30 pm, Thursday, March 28 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home Chapel at 410 E. Broad Street, Camilla Georgia.
Matthew lived in Baker County, Georgia for over 50 years; he was the son of the late Bernalda Goolsby and Carl Goolsby Sr. He is survived by his brother, Carl Goolsby, Jr. (Lisa) of Trenton GA and his sister, Kim Joye (Rusty) of Cades SC.
Matthew was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, in Mary Washington Hospital, on George Washington’s birthday. He was a special person from the very beginning. He completed his schooling at Calhoun County High School and resided in the Camilla Easter Seals Group home for over 7 years. They provided excellent service and caring for him. He was so happy there in his “apartment house” which also provided many outings and activities. He spent over 30 years going to Mitchell Baker Service Center where he was greatly loved and enjoyed so many creative activities, outings and community interaction, he had such fun. The family will forever be indebted to these two agencies for providing Matthew the freedom and comfort to express himself and relished all they had to offer. Matthew brought great joy to all those around him, he was a big teddy bear. He had such a sense of humor and was quick on the draw. His greatest loves were everything first responder, the Sheriff’s Department, the Fire Department, and Emergency Services. He was made an honorary Sheriff’s deputy in Baker County as well as Mitchell County, which he took very seriously. His other great love was the The Dukes of Hazzard.
Matthew, you will be sorely missed. Our hearts are broken but we know that you are now in the most highest of beautiful company and welcomed in to loving arms.

Evelyna Keadle Rogers - December 09, 1939 - March 20, 2024

Obituary Preview: Evelyna Keadle Rogers, 84, of Newton, died Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 24 at Camilla United Methodist Church. Rick Waters will officiate. A private interment will be held at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens at a later date. Visitation will follow services at the church.
Born December 9,1939 in Camilla, GA, Mrs. Rogers was the daughter of the late Nathan M. Keadle and Evelyn West Keadle Watson.
She attended the University of Georgia and Valdosta State college to obtain her degree in education. Soon after graduation, she began teaching in the Baker County public schools. She started her career in the high school teaching English, but throughout her years in the school system, she taught many different classes and ages ranging from kindergarten to adult education, adapting wherever she was needed. At the Georgia Department of Education, she was a federal programs grant writer, Title 1 reading and math regional consultant, and speech writer.
Aside from her career, Evelyna was a voracious reader and enthusiastic writer. She began her writing career at age nine writing for Girl Scout Magazine about Georgia life. At age thirteen, she began writing a weekly teen column, “Teen Talk,” in her local newspaper, the Camilla Enterprise. She continued to write the column until she left for journalism school at the University of Georgia. Growing up, she also co-authored a series of local plays with her writing partner, Louise Prince. During her adult life, she continued to write for numerous publications including Georgia Journal Magazine, Piney Woods Historical Preservation, and Inside Tallahassee Magazine. She also wrote church plays with Mrs. Jackie Rooks.Later in life, she published A Nose for News, a biography about Ray Jenkins. She also wrote a fiction novel, The Handsomest Boy in Fence Post, Georgia, which will be published soon.
In her community, she adored her time as a member of the Garden Club. She once said, “I inherited the garden club gene from my mother.” Evelyna, along with her sister Barbara, cofounded the Sadie Mae Cullens Holly Garden Club of Camilla for local young women. She served in multiple leadership roles at both local and state levels.
A devout Christian, she was an active member of the Newton Baptist Church for over 55 years. In her time as a member, she founded and led the boys’ and girls’ auxiliary groups, which worked to provide programs and Bible studies for children and youth members of the church. She was also a member of the Lottie Moon Southern Baptists’ international missions offering.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan Keadle and Evelyn West Keadle Watson, her parents-in-law, Alton and Grace Rogers, her son-in-law, Richard McCorvey, and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Lampe Rogers.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Rogers of Newton; a daughter, Vangie Fields (Keith) of Tallahassee, FL; three sons, Todd Rogers (Susan) of Albany, Nathan Rogers of Jacksonville, FL, and David Rogers (Meredith) of Camilla; two sisters, Barbara Johnson (Bubba) of Camilla and Becky Shirah (Scott) of Hopeful; a sister-in-law, Janice Waters (Richard) of Camilla; seven grandchildren, West Rogers, Mead Rogers, Mattie Rogers, Keadle Rogers, Liza Rogers, Garland Rogers, and Liam Rogers.

Laura Beth was born June 3, 1962 to Lawrence and Elizabeth Kittle of Mystic, GA. Laura Beth is survived by her husband of 43 years: Tony Tucker of Camilla; sons and daughters-in-law: Brett and Janna Tucker of Twin City, Matthew and Madeline Tucker of Tifton, and Brooks Tucker of Camilla and his girlfriend Raine Worsham; three grandchildren: Audrey Jane, Elizabeth Austin and Robert Lawrence “Bo” Tucker of Twin City; mother: Elizabeth Kittle of Mystic; and sister and brother-in-law: Amy and Billy Hancock of Mystic; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other special family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Kittle.
Currently serving as City Council Member representing Camilla, Georgia’s District 2 Post 3, Laura Beth was also recently appointed by Governor Brian Kemp to serve as a member of the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council.
While managing her own business, she has worked for over 40 local governments or non-profit organizations for the past 32 years. Upon completion of her MBA, she served as Department Head, then City Manager, and as Economic Development Director for the City of Tifton, City of Social Circle, and Moultrie/Colquitt County, respectively. She is a former Mayor of Pelham, Ga.
Laura Beth was a founding organizational partner in the formation of the South-Central Drug Task Force and served as the grant administrator throughout the years.
Active in her community, she served as past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Westwood School, an appointed Authority member of the Mitchell County-Pelham Joint Development Authority, and Trustee of Camilla United Methodist Church. She is Past President of ABAC Alumni Association.
An avid tennis player, Laura Beth has been a member of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), played in tennis league matches and tournaments throughout Georgia and coached in the Westwood School’s tennis program. She shared the love of tennis with her sons and frequently challenged them to a match.
Laura Beth had a servant’s heart and volunteered in numerous community projects. But the most important part of her life was her family and the love they all shared. Whether it was at the lake watching the grandchildren play in the water or gathering around the table at their favorite Mexican restaurant, they enjoyed the laughter and memories they were making. She brought great happiness to not only her family, but her circle of friends as well.

She played the role of mother and father in a time when that wasn’t common. Despite these struggles, she always provided a loving and warm home for her children. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Camilla.
Survivors include her two children, Stanley Huey (Pat) and Martha Jane Bateman (Wayne); five grandchildren, Wayne Bateman, Jr. (Shirley), Stan Huey (Paige), Shane Huey, James Bateman (Jennifer), and William Bateman (Lois); 7 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by loving caregivers, Mary Ann Thomas, Ceola Merritt, Gloria Silas, Brenda Hurst, as well as special helper, Greg Gaines, and very special friend, Beth Williamson.

Patricia was born October 22, 1958 in Cairo, GA and lived with her family in Camilla through her high school years. She was an honor student, a successful athlete, and popular among her friends and instructors. She continued her academic pursuits attending Valdosta State University culminating with a Masters Degree in Language at Florida State University. Her professional endeavors were applied in the field of addiction counseling at Phoebe Putney Hospital (Albany) and Turning Point Counseling Center (Moultrie) where she was successfully employed for many years.
She gave birth to her son, Zachary Tabb in 1991. Soon thereafter, they moved to Puerto Rico for several years where they enjoyed the lush and joyful environment that Patricia so loved.
As a child, Patricia was an active Methodist student, faithfully attending church camps and activities. As an adult, she found comfort and spiritual strength with friends at the Episcopal communities in Gainesville.
Patricia is survived by her son, Zachary Tabb of Biloxi, MS; mother, Joy Allen Tabb of Camilla, GA; three younger brothers, Mark Allen Tabb (Julie) of Las Vegas, NV, William Tracy Tabb (Rebecca) of Thomasville, GA, and Thomas Wright Tabb (April) of Bainbridge, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family and friends will gather for a small memorial service at a later date. The family has requested that donations may be made to a children’s charity of your choice in Patricia’s memory.

He worked for the State of Georgia Highway Department and then found his calling with farming on the family farm for 65 years. Mr. Williams was a servant of God as an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend.
